XY OU To Annoy, or Not to Annoy. That is the Question

Hey guys this is my first ever competitive team! I have been working on it for a while now and it's been doing pretty good! I do realize that this team isn't perfect yet, but hey, isn't that what I'm here for? Now for the team.

MEGA BRO (Charizard-Mega-Y) @Charizarite Y
Ability:Drought
Nature:Timid
EVs 252SpA/252Spd/4SpD
-Fire Blast
-Solar Beam
-Dragon Pulse
-Focus Blast

I decided as a mega I wanted either one of the Charizards. I thought about for a little while and I came up with this set. I chose Fire Blast because it's one of the best STAB moves Mega Zard Y has. I used Solar Beam to hit things hard that Fire Blast can't. I gave Dragon Pulse to hit Dragons like Dragonite and Garchomp. Finally I gave Focus Blast for coverage. That is the move I would be most willing to give up. I gave it just a pretty simple EV spread because I just need him to be a special sweeper.

Mr.Prickles (Ferrothorn) Rocky Helmet
Ability:Iron Barbs
Nature:Sassy
EVs 252SpD/252Def/4Atk
0 Spd IVs
-Spikes
-Stealth Rocks
-Leech Seed
-Gyro Ball

I realized for this team to succeed I need to wear down the team. That's where this guy comes in. I gave him Spikes and Stealth Rocks so he can be a set up guy. I gave him Leech Seed to prolong his lifespan and wear other guys faster. I gave him Gyro Ball and 0 speed IVs to hit things as hard as possible. Plus, a Rocky Helmet with Iron Barbs cripples physical attackers. The EV spread to wall things for as long as possible. The only problem is his intense fire weakness which the next Pokemon is here for.

Nuts and Volts (Rotom-Wash) Leftovers
Ability:Levitate
Nature:Modest
EVs 252SpA/128Def/128SpD
-Hydro Pump
-Volt Switch
-Hidden Power Ice
-Signal Beam

This is who I use to take care of Fire and Water types. He's here to take care of the things that the rest of the team has trouble handling. I gave him Hydro Pump as his main STAB and I gave him Volt Switch to allow him to be a pivot. I gave him HP Ice to cover Dragons, and Signal Beam to hit Psychics. I wanted him to be bulky for everything all around while being able to hit things hard. So basically this guy is my support man.

Can't Touch Dis (Garchomp) Rocky Helmet
Ability:Rough Skin
Nature:Jolly
EVs 252Atk/252Spd/4SpD
-Earthquake
-Dragon Claw
-Crunch
-Rock Slide

This guy is a physical beast. Earthquake is his main STAB. Dragon Claw hits the things that Earthquake can't. Crunch hits Alakazam and Gengar hard. I gave him Rock Slide to completely wreck Charizard and Talonflame. The EV spread I gave him is basically just to out speed and smash everyone. Also like Ferrothorn, he has some serious aftermath.

Billy (Conkeldurr) Choice Band
Ability: Iron Fist
Nature:Adamant
EVs 252HP/252Atk/4Def
-Drain Punch
-Mach Punch
-Fire Punch
-Ice Punch

This guy is a complete tank. With his high HP stat, he can take more than one for the team. His pretty good attack stay allows to crush things that don't wall him. I gave him Drain Punch for when he's in need of health, or needs to get a good amount of damage in. He needs Mach Punch to outspeed the opponent when it matters. I gave him Fire Punch to take out Serperior, and Ice Punch to take care of Dragons. The idea for the EV spread is to make him as much of a tank as possible.

NEW META (Jirachi) Leftovers
Ability:Serene Grace
Nature:Adamant
EVs 252Atk/224Spd/32HP
-Iron Head
-Thunder Wave
-Zen Headbutt
-Drain Punch

This is the guy nobody expects. I can switch him into Steel and sometimes Dark types and completely wreck them. Drain Punch also gets the health back that it needs to stay in the field longer. I gave it Iron Head for the crazy amount of flinches. I gave it Zen Headbutt to hit the things that resist Iron Head. Thunder Wave is to cripple fast sweepers. I didn't need anything fancy with the EVs, I just needed it to be a physical attacker.

Alright so this is my team. I hope you see why this team can annoy people. Also I would really appreciate it if you headed over to my YouTube at

Thanks for Reading!!!!!!

Charizard: Flamethrower over Dragon Pulse – STAB = SE, 90 BP vs 80
Rotom-W: Same deal. Only thing Signal Beam hits harder then Hydro Pump is Malamar. Would recommend replacing with Starmie, as Starmie is faster, and has analytic for switches.
Conkeldurr: Run Knock Off over fire punch. You have Zard-Y for Serperior
With Zard-Y being 4x weak to rocks, you need a defog/spinner for SR
Heal Bell would be nice to have for Para on Zard-Y
You don't have anything to counter an opposing Zard-Y if it comes in on Ferrothorn without sacking someone.

Charizard Y and Ferrothorn together isn't the best idea. Increased Fire damage means Ferrorthorn gets wrecked by Ember. Charizard X seems like a much better choice.

But then he has one special attacker and three physical (and M-Slowbro basically wrecks the physical ones)

Hey man welcome to smogon and decent team for a new builder! Now obviously there are a lot of problems for the team to where it cannot really be truly fixed to be up to par with other teams in the meta without numerous drastic changes. Also your choice of sets and mons for each role seem to indicate a little inexperience in the meta(nothing is wrong with that especially since it's your first team and it's not too bad especially when you look at other people's first team). So I'l give you some advice and resources to use to maybe aid you in being a more successful builder n_n

First while your team is centered around zard-y the rest of the team does not really support it too well, the biggest issue being no hazard removal for a 4x rock weak mon plus having no direct way of removing it's checks and counters or any counter play to the playstyles that have a good matchup against zard-y. To avoid going into a ton of specifics in supporting/using zard-y I would suggest looking at this rmt by valentine. It will go over the specifics of zard-y itself and how to make a successful team supporting it. On a side note you may notice it is from XY but it is still a pretty effective formula to make a zard-y team in oras(just be way more careful with Maltaria since it has great matchups against these builds).

Here I'm going to leave some resources that will help you get a better grasp on the meta and to help you out while teambuilding.

Viability rankings- These are rankings for the viability of each mon which will help you see what mons are currently the top tier threats and maybe to fid something to fill a niche on your team that is underused in the tier.

Analysis pokedex- this is a sub forum where you can find updated, completed analysis's of individual mons and what sets they can run. Also since not every mon may has a complete analysis yet you may not be able to find a mon you are looking for in which case look here.

Set viability rankings- Basically how viable each set on a given mon is in the current metagame. Pretty self explanatory.

Helpful teambuilding threads:

CTC's teambuilding compendium- A thread by CTC(one of the best builders on smogon) that aids in finding that specific mon for that specific role on your team. The opening paragraph also talks about what specific resistances you need on a team which is very helpful.

Check's compendium- A thread that lists checks to specific threats in the tier which can be very helpful when your team is very weak to a threat or you are preparing for an opponent who is known for specific mons.

Basic tips for building- This is a thread by another great builder on smogon which gives some great tips for people that are trying to improve at teambuilding.

Well I hope all this helps good luck with the team :]

Charizard Y and Ferrothorn together isn't the best idea. Increased Fire damage means Ferrorthorn gets wrecked by Ember. Charizard X seems like a much better choice.

Well then I only have one Special Attacker on the team (Rotom-Wash)

Alright so what should I put on Rotom W rather than Signal Beam. Who should I put defog/rapid spin on?
