ORAS OU Dancing to Percussion - Semi Hyper Offense

This is my first RTM so please feel free to be as harsh as you'd like with the feedback.

Could someone maybe come up with a Threat List?

So I wanted to make a team around DD Mega Charizard X + Belly Drum Azumarill. I started with those two and just added what I needed or wanted to use. What I needed was a stealth rocker and a defogger, so I decided to go with Garchomp and Skarmory. And I wanted to use Latios and Sylveon so I threw them on the team. So, finally, here is the Squad. :]

charizard-mega-x.gif

Mega Charizard X @ CharizarditeX
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Dragon Dance
-Dragon Claw
-Flare Blitz
-Roost/Earthquake

OK so here is my main squeeze Charizard. His job is to setup one DD (2 if necessary) and start sweeping. This is who I built the team around. He takes care of the likes of Ferrothorn and Scizor which otherwise wall my Sylveon. I run roost as of right now because I havent run into Heatran yet with this team and have other ways of taking one down. I will usually try to get the mega evolution off quick so i dont have to worry about rocks and if i get a good lead matchup Ill start to setup early.

azumarill.gif

Azumarill @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 164 HP / 252 Atk / 94 Spe
Adamant Nature
-Aqua Jet
-Waterfall
-Play Rough
-Belly Drum

Azu is my second setup sweeper. He is a Dragon switch in for Zard and Latios and semi revenge killer, meaning at low enough health where an aqua jet can get the KO. Main goal is to get a free switch, setup a belly drum, and aqua jet away. I'm usually pretty smart with my Belly Drums because I know I really only have one chance to do it. So if I see a pokemon that will completely wall me even at +6 I wont setup. The spread is for max damage and i believe enough speed to outspeed uninvested base 70s? And the rest in HP. Pretty standard stuff.

garchomp.gif

Garchomp @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Rough Skin
EVs: 252 HP / 164 Def / 76 SpD / 16 Spe
Impish Nature
-Earthquake
-Dragon Tail
-Toxic
-Stealth Rock

Say hello to TankChomp. His main goal is to setup Stealth Rocks and do some Phazing. He also still OHKOs 252 HP / 252 Def Heatran even without any attack EVs and will outspeed it unless it is offensive. Toxic wears defensive mons down and try to catch Unaware Clefable on a switch so its easier to deal with.

skarmory.gif

Skarmory @ Leftovers
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 252 HP / 232 Def / 24 Spe
Impish Nature
-Defog
-Roost
-Whirlwind
-Iron Head

Skarm is my defogger and another Phazer. Originally had spikes but didnt like getting setup on by Azumarills and Gyardoses which Chomp can't deal with, so I went with Whirlwind. Roost to stay relatively healthy. Skarm is the Fairy switch in and can at least do something with Iron Head. I might want to make this more specially defensive becuase she cant really take a special hit that great but i dont know just yet.

latios.gif

Latios @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
-Draco Meteor
-Psyshock
-Hidden Power Fire
-Dragon Pulse

I wanted to run HP Fire on Latios because I cant really touch Ferro/Scizor if Zard goes down. With not being able to hit 350 bc of the IVs for HP Fire, I decided i wanted to run a scarf to be able to outspeed base 110s and above. Mega Manectric really shits on my team especially before Charizard Mega Evolves, and nothing can outspeed it unless i get a DD up with Zard. Timid nature because Scarf Base 96ers can outspeed Modest and thats not worth it. Draco Meteor and Dragon Pulse so I can do massive damage and switch out with Draco, or stay in with Dragon Pulse without stat drops.

sylveon.gif

Sylveon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 Spe
Modest Nature
-Hyper Voice
-Psyshock
-Shadow Ball
-Hidden Power Ground

I originally had Scarf max speed Timid Sylveon and Specs Latios, but then I got fucked up by a Mega Manectric and did the switch. Sylveon is one of my favorite Pokemon and I love this set, but i think the Cleric role might be better on this team becuase a burned Azumarill and a paralyzed Mega Charizard wont help me at all. But for now this has been working just fine.

Please give me feedback and tell me what I can do to make this team better! Thanks Frens :]

I Dont Know how to do the importable thing LOL O.o

Hi Meek Miltank,

Fun squad you have here. The first thing I notice is that you lack a backup check to Talonflame if Garchomp is out. This is unfortunate as, particularly with an SD up, Talonflame will run through your team with little issue. Assuming you tend to lead with Garchomp in order to get rocks up early, it is likely going to be pressured from the start of the match, and without a way to recover on your team you will have to play very carefully, avoid your hazards getting removed, all just to check one of the most common mons in OU.

To that end, I have a few changes I would propose:

Latios -> Latias

I think your team would benefit by switching Latios into Latias, in order to gain access to Healing Wish. While not as brutally offensive as a Scarf Latios, Latias retains a high amount of offensive presence, particularly when using the XY standard set that consists of Life Orb, dual stab and healing wish. Additionally, you will be running Defog should you choose to use this set, which could prove a lifesaver as you are focused on Charizard sweeping. The following set is the one that I think would suit you well:

380.gif

Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Healing Wish

The above set is relatively simple. Defog gets rid of hazards, which is vital due to the makeup of the rest of your team. Both Azumarill and Charizard absolutely need hazards off the field to work as well as they should. Dual stabs with life orb allow you to hit hard much of the tier, but watch out for steels (which you have decent answers to currently). Healing Wish is the crown on the set, allowing you to breathe life into whatever mon best suits your matchup. This also allows you to play a little more recklessly with a setup sweeper like Char X early on in the game.

Skarmory -> Raikou

With defog moved to Latias, I think its best to remove Skarmory. I don't like how passive Skarm is on your team, which is otherwise very offensive. I feel that you lose a lot of momentum when using a mon like Skarmory on a team with, otherwise, so much offensive pressure. Additionally, as you noted, you don't like getting set up on by water types with a bit of bulk to them. This is a bit of a departure from what you have in the slot now, but I think adding Raikou to the team would give you an extra edge:

243.gif

Raikou @ Assault Vest / Choice Specs
EVs: 252 SpA / 32 SpD / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power Ice
- Shadow Ball

I put the Assault Vest set as the primary option because you are already running a specs user in Sylveon. Considering you have two team members that may need only a single turn to set up to win, a Volt Switcher will give you the necessary momentum to get that setup move off. Finally, Raikou provides a soft check to Talonflame, which is useful while still keeping a powerful offensive presence.

Thanks for the input! I was definitely having trouble with water types especially bulky waters. I think Raikou will be a great idea bc just earlier it took me a Draco Meteor and a Hyper Voice from LAti and Sylveon to take out a Vaporeon lmfao. I really like the idea of Healing Wish on this team but the lack of team speed before a setup really turns me off and would lean more towards scarf Latios. BUt thank you very much and i might even run a few games with Latias and might Scarf Raikou with HP Ground only because my team is weak to manectric like ive stated before. ive been lucky sometimes to pick it off on a switch and OHKO it but thats not always gonna happen.

Hey man, I'm kind of pressed on time at the moment and Teal6 gave some great options already, but I do have some quick little add ins you should implement into your team. With this said, lets get into it!

Firstly, you should change the spread of Charizard to a more effective and beneficial one. My suggest is that you use 112 Hp / 252 Atk / 144 Spe, as this give you the added bulk to make setting up a hell of a lot easier, whilst still having the ability to out speed (at plus 1) the crucial speed tier of 135, which holds the common threat of mega Loppuny.

My final bit of advice, is to run Knock Off > Waterfall, as this limits the things you are walled by. For example Ferrrothorn can wall your current move set (even at +6 it can live hits from that coverage) and will prevent you from setting up, while if you had Knock Off you could straight OHKO it at + 6. You also already have reliable water coverage in Aqua jet, which will destroy pretty much anything that doesn't resist it.

I know this was short, but I still hope you were able to gain something out of this and I wish you the best with the progression of your team in the future.

Thank you! That makes a lot of sense and ill definitely try these new spreads and sets out!
