ORAS Ubers UBERS Bird Duo & Friends RMT

uberslogo.png

Good afternoon Smogon players and general viewers of the forums! Today i have decided to create my second ORAS RMT, with that being said, this is, in nature of the title, an ORAS Ubers team! This team was inspired by my realization that BIRD SPAM can actually work in the Ubers format! It took me about 2 hours to construct and test out the team, and about an hour and a half to create this Forum Post! Please be as harsh and or critical as you desire, as this is my Second RMT and i would like to learn from the experience and polish my team building skills. With all of that out of the way, I will now let you busy bees get to business down in the depths of this forum post and RATE...MY...TEAM! :)

dark_dialga_by_garmmon-d4p8gf9.jpg

Dialga @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 244 HP / 252 SpD / 12 Spe
Calm Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- Toxic

Description: Hazard/Status Ailment setter of the team, functions as a primary Mega-Salamence check. In conjunction with being a fantastic SPD wall, Dialga's Shuca Berry allows it to effectively and safely get up its rocks while weakening a super effective Earthquake coming from an offensive Pokemon, like Primal Groudon for instance. Dialga's access to Fire Blast also allows it to hit the majority of Pokemon that resist Dragon in the tier for great damage, OHKO'ing Pokemon such as Mega Scizor, Ferrothorn, and Genesect.

arceus_by_fishyhylian.jpg

Arceus-Ghost @ Spooky Plate
Ability: Multitype
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Will-O-Wisp
- Judgment
- Recover

Description: Provides reliable Hazard Control for the team. With access to Will-O-Wisp, Arceus Ghost can switch into Mega-Khang and hinder its chances of sweeping. Secondly Judgment provides Arceus with a STAB move to smash through the Lati-Twins. In addition Recover gives Arceus a health replenishing option which can be crucial to winning 1v1's. And Finally, with fully invested Speed, Arceus G, is able to speed tie with, Extreme Killer Arceus and physical Ground Arceus. This allows Arceus to potentially burn them with Will-O-Wisp before they can hit Ghost Arceus with Swords Dance-boosted attacks.

rayquaza_by_felis_kuroiicus-d4qgcli.png

Rayquaza @ Life Orb
Ability: Air Lock
EVs: 252 Atk / 40 SpA / 216 Spe
Naive Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Earthquake
- Dragon Ascent
- Extreme Speed

Description: Physically based Mixed Rayquaza hands the team loads of Offensive power practically on a silver platter. When it comes to its movepool, Rayquaza covers ALL the bases. For instance Draco Meteor tears down physical walls, support Arceus, and even Primal Groudon. In addition with access to Earthquake Rayquaza can easily Smash down Heatran, Klefki, and even AEGISLASH. Finally with Dragon Ascent being Rayquaza's main STAB attack it does come at a price of lowering the users Defense and Special Defense by one stage each. After Rayquaza fires off a Dragon Ascent normally it is able to finish off most of its opponents with a priority Extreme-speed. As you can see E-Speed and D-Ascent in conjunction with Draco and Earthquake provide for a force that's to be reckoned with.

Shaymin-Sky @ Life Orb
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Air Slash
- Seed Flare
- Hidden Power Rock
- Healing Wish

Description: Shaymin-Sky is an excellent addition to the team simply because it contributes to the Flying type overload theme of the team. In conjunction Shaymin, with access to Serene Grace, provides cringy, and un-bearable HAX which could potentially make or break games. Not only that, Seed Flare (Shaymins main STAB attack) is able to punch holes in teams with its high probability of harshly lowering the target's Special Defense. HP Rock can also be used to OHKO Ho-Oh after Dialga sets up its Stealth Rock, eliminating one of UBERS Main A-ranked threats. But WAIT, there's more Shaymin can also Healing Wish into a mon on your team that happens to be low, sacrificing itself when its viability in said battle has run out. NOW THAT'S WILD.

pokemon___primal_groudon_by_r_nowong-d7za0o2.png

Groudon @ Red Orb
Ability: Drought
EVs: 104 HP / 252 Atk / 96 SpD / 56 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rock Polish
- Precipice Blades
- Dragon Claw
- Stone Edge

Description: Secondary Offensive attacker of the team. (Speed Round Initiate) Rock Polish also makes up for Primal G's poor Speed and can let it become a very powerful late game cleaner. Although Primal Groudon does, in-theory have access to earthquake, I went with Precipice Blades for maximum damage. Dragon Claw decimates most Dragon-types that attempt to wall Primal Groudon as you can see by this calc against Girantina-O (Not to mention R-Polish Primal Groudon OHKO's the Lati-Twins) (252+ Atk Groudon Dragon Claw vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Giratina-O: 214-252 (48.5 - 57.1%) -- 91.4% chance to 2HKO). Finally, I added Primal Groudon to the team because its able to survive a boosted Focus Blast from Geomancy Xerneas after Stealth Rock damage as well as outspeed base 90 scarf mons.

diancie_megashinka_by_littleocean-d7m5cli.png

Diancie @ Diancite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 80 Atk / 252 SpA / 176 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Diamond Storm
- Earth Power
- Protect

Description: Dedicated Mega-Pokemon for the team. Moonblast is Diancie's primary option for a STAB attack, it allows Diancie to check Dark- and Dragon-type Pokemon in the format such as, Arceus-D, Girantina, Yveltal, Zekrom etc. What's great about Dianice, is the fact that Diancie has more bulk when not Mega Evolved, so when it needs to survive a certain attack, sometimes the right call to make is not to Mega and this can really induce a surprise factor into your opponent. Finally Mega Diancie is a PERFECT Anti-Lead to the common Support Primal Groudon as it ensures it's not able to get up its Stealth rocks, and according to this calc is able to live quite a few EQ's. (4 Atk Groudon Earthquake vs. 0 HP / 0 Def Diancie: 218-258 (90.4 - 107%) -- 37.5% chance to OHKO)

Real talk the everything looks nice and all but you need larger descriptions with why you chose the Pokemon the synergy of the team. Also the pictures should be scaled down a bit because scrolling is annoying imo. Ho-oh is also not the best defogger bc rocks hurt it so much, I suggest Giratina or changing the Arceus set to get defog. :]

Haha fair enough! Quick question, why would I need to explain why I chose the pokemon when my reasoning for choosing that Pokemon is my descriptions? Also I don't want to get rid of Ho-Oh because that would ruin the "Bird Trio" but I will look into throwing Defog on Arceus. Which move do you suggest I remove to replace with Defog? Also what exactly would you like to see in terms of a Synergy description?

I just thought the descriptions were kinda lacking so just looking at other's RMT's people commonly go through the team building as they add the Pokemon. So like if you had that core in mind tell why you added the other Pokemon in there. If you run Defog on Acreus you might want to change it to something like mono attacking judment CM Arceus Rock.

Hi MyApolloProject . While your idea of a bird spam is legit since bird spam indeed is good in Oras Ubers, your team is not really good. It suffers from many things I will list here:
1)You can not make a flying spam team without good hazard control at least. Having a defogger 4 times weak to rocks with 3 flying pokemons is not what I would call a good hazard control at all.
2)Your team has nothing powerful enough to break stall teams.
3)With that weakness to Rocks you auto lose to offensive teams.
4)Your team is weak to many top tier threats but I'm not gonna go into this since you have to fix this team first.
While I'm sure you didn't even test this team once before RMT'ing which is against the rules, I will still give my advices:
1)Keep Dialga as is.
2)Replace your Arceus with Arceus-Ghost Defog/Judgment/Will-O-Wisp/Recover Timid Max HP Max Speed.
3)Use Rayquaza instead of Lugia.
4)Use LO shaymin for hax and flying overload.
5)Use Primal Groudon
6)Use Mega Diancie
Optimal sets for pokemons can be found in the smogon dex.
Hope I helped and good luck.

Omg! Thank you so much for leaving all these suggestions for me to make! First of all I did try this team out on the Ubers ladder and it was decent for me, I went 5-1 with it when I tried it out, but 1 thing I definitely had an issue with was Ho-Oh being my Hazard Remover so I'm UBER happy that you gave me a very viable alternative. As for your statement saying "Use Primal G" and "Use Mega Diancie" What exact Pokemon do you want me to swap them out for and why?

Welcome, I basically made you a new team so you just keep dialga and change the other 5 to what i suggested. :D

Just to let you know, Defog + Regenerator is illegal on Ho-oh so I'm not sure how you play-tested your team and did not notice that since Showdown would stop you...

Other than that, Outrage's suggestions are great. I think you were a bit confused about what checked what (Offensive Primal Kyogre is never a Primal Groudon switch-in, Scarfed Yveltal doesn't check Ekiller, etc.) so if you want to keep a slightly less changed version of the team, I'd at least change Yveltal and Lugia.

Yveltal @ Leftovers/Rocky Helmet/Charti Berry
Ability: Dark Aura
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Foul Play
- Roost
- Toxic/Sucker Punch
- Taunt

This lets you take on Ekiller much better. I recommend Charti Berry since Ekiller usually has Stone Edge instead of Shadow Claw nowadays (and I'd actually suggest that you change that on your own Ekiller).

For Lugia, it's optional, but I find running 136 Spe useful for outrunning Adamant Rayquaza and both of the Primals so that you can Toxic them and continually Roost to Multiscale. But max Def works too I guess.

Still a lot of flaws and you're probably better off listening to Outrage's changes, but I figured that I'd leave these optimisations.

Just FYI I tested out the team before I made the forum post, at the time Ho-Oh had Pressure with Defog and I realized Regenerator was better while I was typing my post so I changed it to Defog/Regenerator without trying it out XD Sorry for the confusion.
