ORAS OU ORAS OU Team

So it took me a while and I've decided to make an ORAS OU team. Sorry I couldn't figure out how to upload photos.

Metagross
Item: Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body/Tough Claws
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Attack/176 Speed/80 HP
Move 1: Zen Headbutt
Move 2: Meteor Mash
Move 3: Earthquake
Move 4: Rock Polish

I chose Metagross as my mega because I like his big Attack and Defense as well as his ability Tough Claws which increases the power of his attacks. I wanted an Adamant one for more Attack. I maxed Attack and gave it a lot of Speed to help it sweep with Rock Polish and give it HP to let it take a few hits. I taught it Zen Headbutt and Meteor Mash for STAB and Earthquake for coverage. Rock Polish helps it outspeed most of the tier.

Clefable
Item: Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252 HP/172 Defense/84 Special Defense.
Move 1: Moonblast
Move 2: Calm Mind
Move 3: Stealth Rock
Move 4: Thunder Wave

I chose Clefable because I wanted a Fairy type for coverage and a hazard setter. I also like Clefable's ability Magic Guard so it doesn't take damage from Burns, Poison, etc. I got a Timid one so I could have higher speed. I maxed out HP so it could stay in longer, gave some Defense and Special Defense so it can take some hits. I gave it Leftovers so it could regain HP while it sets up traps and uses Calm Mind. I taught it Moonblast for STAB, Calm Mind so I can build up Moonblast's power, Thunder Wave so I can use paralysis, and Stealth Rock for an entry hazard.

Feraligatr
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 220 Attack/252 Speed/36 Special Defense
Move 1: Dragon Dance
Move 2: Waterfall
Move 3: Crunch
Move 4: Ice Punch

I choose Feraligatr because I wanted a Water type for coverage and I liked Feraligatr's Hidden Ability to increase its power. I gave it an Adamant nature to increase its power move and gave it a Life Orb so I can get more power and Sheer Force removes the effect of the orb's recoil. I maxed it's Speed since Feraligatr's speed is not the best, almost max attack for more power, and some Special Defense since it has lower Special Defense that Defense. I breed Dragon Dance onto it so it can increase it's Attack and Speed more, Waterfall for STAB, and Crunch and Ice Punch for coverage.

Goodra
Item: Choice Specs
Ability: Sap Sipper
Nature: Modest
EVs: 212 HP/252 Special Attack/44 Speed
Move 1: Draco Meteor
Move 2: Muddy Water
Move 3: Fire Blast
Move 4: Sludge Bomb

I chose Goodra because I wanted a Dragon type and I wanted a bulky Special Attacker. I wanted Sap Sipper so I can have an immunity to Grass (especially Leech Seed). I gave it a Modest nature increase Special Attack. I gave it Choice Specs to increase Special Attack even more. I gave it almost max HP so it can take hits and gave it max Special Attack, and I gave it some Speed as well. I taught it Draco Meteor for STAB, and Fire Blast, Muddy Water, and Sludge Bomb for type coverage.

Weavile
Item: Shell Bell
Ability: Pressure
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Attack/4 Defense/252 Speed
Move 1: Icicle Crash
Move 2: Ice Shard
Move 3: Low Kick
Move 4: Knock Off

I chose Weavile because I wanted a fast physical attacker. I wanted a Jolly one to increase Speed. I gave it a Shell Bell so it can recover HP right after it hits. I maxed Attack and Speed and gave it a small Defense boost. I breed Icicle Crash and Knock Off for STAB, Low Kick for coverage (such as against Bisharp), and Ice Shard for revenge kills.

Jolteon
Item: Focus Sash
Ability: Volt Absorb
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 Special Attack/252 Speed/4 Special Defense
Move 1: Thunderbolt
Move 2: Volt Switch
Move 3: Signal Beam
Move 4: Shadow Ball

I choose Jolteon because since Weavile is my fast physical attacker, I wanted a fast special attacker. I also like it's ability so I can absorb Electric attacks and heal at the same time. I gave it a Timid nature and max Speed so it can sweep, and maxed it's Special Attack along with a small Special Defense boost. I gave it a Focus Sash since it's a little Defensely. I taught it Thunderbolt for STAB, Volt Switch in case I need to switch out, and Signal Beam and Shadow Ball for coverage.

I would appreciate any suggestions.

I've got a few suggestions and I advise you listen to other rates as well.

Metagross
Item: Metagrossite
Ability: Clear Body/Tough Claws
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 252 Attack/176 Speed/80 HP
Move 1: Zen Headbutt
Move 2: Meteor Mash
Move 3: Earthquake < Hammer Arm
Move 4: Rock Polish
  • With Hammer Arm you may lose Speed but its the superior coverage option to Earthquake. Otherwise the set was decent.
Feraligatr
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
Nature: Adamant < Jolly
EVs: 252 Attack/252 Speed/4 Special Defense
Move 1: Dragon Dance
Move 2: Waterfall
Move 3: Crunch
Move 4: Ice Punch
  • Your Nature and EV Spread was rather sub-optimal. With Jolly you outspeed a wider range of foes. The EV Spread was changed to a simple one as the extra SpD was unnecessary.
As for Goodra I suggest Life Orb Latios as it holds a deal more power than Goodra and significantly more speed. It also gives you team Defog support which removes hazards.

Latios
Item: Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def / 30 Spe
Move 1: Draco Meteor
Move 2: Hidden Power [Fire]
Move 3: Psyshock
Move 4: Defog

Weavile
Item: Shell Bell < Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
Nature: Jolly
EVs: 252 Attack/4 Defense/252 Speed
Move 1: Icicle Crash
Move 2: Ice Shard OR Pursuit
Move 3: Low Kick
Move 4: Knock Off
  • With Life Orb Weavile hits harder. Shell Bell is a rather inefficient way or health regeneration as its very frail. Pursuit allows you to trap Pokemon that generally don't stay in against Weavile such as Latios.
As for Jolteon its not very viable in OU so I suggest Thundurus as it gives you a WinCondition and powerful Special Attacker. It has a deal of more power than Jolteon and relatively bulkier.

Thundurus
Item : Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
Nature: Timid
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
IVs: 30 Atk / 30 Def
Move 1: Thunderbolt
Move 2: Hidden Power [Ice]
Move 3: Nasty Plot
Move 4: Focus Blast

Good luck and have fun!

PS There isn't an item clause on our server called Pokemon Showdown! This means you can use as many of the same items you want.

Thanks for your suggestions! They are all very great! But as for Thundurus which form do you mean? Incarnate or Therian?

Hello, Ojo46 ! Solid looking team. Let's get into the rate shall we?

Seeing that you have a Jolteon on your team, why not replace this with Mega Scizor? It has great offensive synergy with it; packing good momentum via U Turn while Jolteon can Volt Switch. It does have that x4 Fire weakness, but that is pretty much covered by Goodra and Feraligatr.

212-mega.gif

Scizor @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 16 Def / 200 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Roost
- Bullet Punch
- Knock Off / U-Turn / Superpower

036.png

I really think Clefable needs a way to recover HP, so try Soft-Boiled > Calm Mind. This way Clefable has recovery or a sense of longevity added to it.

160.png

Here I really do think you just got a set from Smogon without checking which set exactly. The set you're running is for the tier and metagame of UU. In OU, it has this set:
160.gif

Feraligatr @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance
- Waterfall
- Crunch / Ice Punch
- Superpower / Ice Punch

706.png

Choice Specs Goodra isn't all that good in ORAS OU. As with Gatr, this is a set that works more in the UU meta. Here it is and I will provide the moveset.
Goodra @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sap Sipper
EVs: 240 HP / 252 SpA / 16 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Sludge Bomb / Thunderbolt
- Earthquake / Muddy Water

461.png

All I have to say for this mon in particular is run a Life Orb > "Shell" Bell. The damage increase is much better than the very slight recovery you gain. At least for this Pokemon. Weavile is a glass cannon, being able to dish out hits but barely take any so recovery moves like Leftovers and Shell Bell aren't very effective for it.

135.png

Jolteon's only real niche in OU is its ability to outspeed Starmie and Talonflame. However I think you should probably run Raikou or even Thundurus over it. Raikou is stronger and has the ability to speed tie with Starmie. Thundurus is also stronger but fails to outspeed or speed tie with Starmie. However it has access to Prankster which is pretty useful!

1.)
Raikou @ Choice Specs
EVs: 32 HP / 252 SpA / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power Ice
- Shadow Ball / Extrasensory

243.gif

2.)
Raikou @ Leftovers / Life Orb
EVs: 32 HP / 252 SpA / 224 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Ice
- Extrasensory / Substitute

642.gif

1.)
Thundurus @ Life Orb / Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Ice
- Focus Blast / Psychic / Sludge Wave

2.)
Thundurus @ Life Orb
Ability: Defiant / Prankster
EVs: 76 Atk / 180 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Knock Off
- Superpower / Thunder Wave
- Hidden Power Ice

Hello, this section of my RMT is here because I do not want to make too many changes. here are some options you may want to consider. Of course, I have some threats to your team as well. These are threats I noticed right off the bat, and I have provided some tips you may find helpful when dealing with these threats. The potential additions have an explanation of what Pokemon it should be used over, why and a moveset(s). Feel free to consider these ideas if you feel the need to at some point!

380.gif
This could be a good option over Goodra. It has acceptable bulk and access to Defog which your team lacks currently. Here is a moveset:

Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 184 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock / Thunderbolt
- Healing Wish / Roost

663.gif
Talonflame is a huge threat to your team. It is able to outspeed your main checks (if you do in fact change Jolteon), can out-prioritize your Feraligatr and OHKO a lot. Your best way of defeating this monster is getting up rocks and keeping Feraligatr healthy so it can do its job.

286.gif
Breloom is also a pretty big threat. It can Spore anything on your team and hits pretty much everything hard (be it Mach Punch or Bullet Seed). Your best way of defeating this is withering it down to the point where Ice Shard from Weavile KOs (that being around 74.7 - 87.7%) it.

479-wash.gif
Rotom-Wash really annoys your team, being able to cripple your main attackers easily. Your main method of defeating this would be keeping the opponent on its toes with Thundurus / Raikou and Weavile.

That's all I have! Good team and good luck! :)

Hey! I like some of your suggestions a lot! But my only question is I'm unsure of how to get Soft Boiled on Clefable. How can I get that move on her?
