Welcome to Smogon! Take a moment to read the Introduction to Smogon for a run-down on everything Smogon, and make sure you take some time to read the global rules.
Best wincon ever
Setups on absolutely everything that isn't Grass/Water, shits on everything, nice & very bulky on both side when it reaches +1
The almighty Spark STAB gets walled by Torterra&Other ground types, adviced to run Regice or some ice type.
If EQ, Flying type shits on you but it isn't as troublesome as ground types, go for Regice as an actual viable partner to your worthless shit.
I like to go Rest Talk but having 2 moves is nice, not walled by a specific typing, Tort still shits on you no matter what through.
Stunfisk @ Leftovers
Ability: Static
EVs: 4 HP / 148 SpA / 160 SpD / 196 Spe
Calm Nature
- Reflect Type
- Stealth Rock / Sludge Bomb / Earth Power
- Discharge / Sludge Bomb / Earth Power
- Scald / Sludge Bomb / Earth Power
By looking at this Stunfisk set, you probably think I'm high (which I may or may not be), but it can prove to be very effective given the right circumstances. I'm going to describe what the EVs do before explaining the moves. 4 HP and 160 SpD with a Calm Nature allow Stunfisk to avoid the OHKO from Simipour without Stealth Rock, as well as the 3HKO from Poliwrath with Leftovers. The Special Attack EVs allow Stunfisk to almost guarentee a 2HKO against Poliwrath and a OHKO against Simipour (with Rocks), and the Speed allows it to outpace Piloswine, Klang, Torterra, and Gourgeist-XL, then get a Reflect Type off against them.
252+ SpA Poliwrath Ice Beam vs. 4 HP / 160+ SpD Stunfisk: 112-134 (31.1 - 37.2%) -- guaranteed 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Life Orb Simipour Hydro Pump vs. 4 HP / 160+ SpD Stunfisk: 304-359 (84.4 - 99.7%) -- guaranteed 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
148 SpA Stunfisk Discharge vs. 4 HP / 0 SpD Simipour: 252-296 (86.3 - 101.3%) -- 87.5% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock
148 SpA Stunfisk Discharge vs. 200 HP / 0 SpD Poliwrath: 188-224 (50.6 - 60.3%) -- 89.5% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
Now all of the above was what happens before the marvelous Reflect Type happens, which can be a serious game changer. It allows Stunfisk to wall or take on better Pokemon such as Simipour, Piloswine, Klang, Torterra, Leafeon, Ninetales, Pawniard, and Rotom-F.
252+ Atk Piloswine Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Stunfisk: 174-205 (48.3 - 56.9%) -- 41% chance to 2HKO after Leftovers recovery
0 Atk Klang Gear Grind (2 hits) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Stunfisk: 52-62 (14.4 - 17.2%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Torterra Earthquake vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Stunfisk: 92-108 (25.5 - 30%) -- 0.3% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 Atk Life Orb Leafeon Leaf Blade vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Stunfisk: 99-117 (27.5 - 32.5%) -- 63.1% chance to 4HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Ninetales Fire Blast vs. 4 HP / 160+ SpD Stunfisk: 51-61 (14.1 - 16.9%) -- possible 9HKO after Leftovers recovery
252+ Atk Pawniard Knock Off (97.5 BP) vs. 4 HP / 0 Def Stunfisk: 75-89 (20.8 - 24.7%) -- possible 6HKO after Leftovers recovery
252 SpA Rotom-F Blizzard vs. 4 HP / 160+ SpD Stunfisk: 60-72 (16.6 - 20%) -- possible 7HKO after Leftovers recovery
As for the coverage moves, it really depends on what you want to hit. Sludge Bomb for most Grass-types, Scald for Rock- and Ground-types, or Earth Power for Fire-, Rock-, and Electric-types.

This stunfisk is kind of like how double powder sets work. You use yawn when something switches out, and now it either stays in and falls asleep or switches, and that is when you either set up rocks or discharge. This thing is good at spreading status with yawn+discharge. The combo of yawn+discharge effectively creates a double powder combo where you can spam the two moves when you get the chance and have a great chance of getting something asleep or paralyzed, while still doing normal stunfisk things.
kushalos's set doesn't count lol, remilia's barely counts. there's nothing wrong with posting joke sets really (as long as they're actually funny, please don't go overboard with it) but i'd like the sets that win to at least be somewhat viable.
Pretty nice item I have tried before that works on teams weak to Electric-types. Wacan Berry allows Barbaracle to use them as setup fodder. :] You lose the ability to set up on Pawniard though, and take more damage from priority attacks in general.
Barbaracle isn't exactly what i'd call a versatile threat, it's a one trick pony that does its job very well.
However, it has ways of being versatile, one of my favorite being Choice Scarf Barbaracle:
- Its access to Switcheroo is really good: Torterra, Poliwrath, Tangela & Gourgeist are all hindered heavily by the gain of a Choice Scarf
- Its speed tier, while not amazing, allows him to outspeed everything aside from Ninjask & Electrode. Adamant is usable but i wouldn't use it because then you can't outspeed Zebstrika
- Its 2 STABs covers a lot of offensive teams, allowing for Barbaracle to potentially clean weakened teams singlehandedly.
Overall, Scarf Barbaracle is a good late game cleaner, who can seriously hinder his checks&counters, and most importantly: Surprise your opponent. It's still not the best Barbaracle can offer, but it's worth trying.
Surprise your date with the knowledge that a +2 Blizzard 0hkos Physically Defensive Tangela:
+2 4 SpA Life Orb Barbaracle Blizzard vs. 252 HP / 0 SpD Eviolite Tangela: 343-406 (102.6 - 121.5%) -- guaranteed OHKO
Now that your #1 counter is dead, you are free to go about your business. Losing AA does mean that you now lose to Poliwrath 100% of the time, but that is only the #1 poke in the tier so I'm sure it's fine. The 70% accuracy is also probably fine, since that only means you will miss 2/3 of the time you need it. Alternatively, you can also run 104 EVs in Sp. A to always 0hko Gourgeist-Super.
But seriously, this mostly is just fun bait. Worth a good laugh to imagine what their face looks like when your opponent loses their primary answer to shell smashers and lose from there.
