VGC Rain Dance

Swampert @ Swampertite
Ability: Torrent / Swift Swim
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 168 HP / 252 Atk / 88 Spe
- Waterfall
- Earthquake
- Ice Punch
- Protect
The main mega of my team. Mudkip was my first Pokemon so there is nostalgic attachment, but you can't deny its raw power in the rain. Waterfall boosted by the Rain and Earthquake are both powerful STAB moves. Ice Punch provides coverage for Swampert's obvious 4x Grass-type weakness, and Protect for ensuring safe mega evolving.

Thundurus @ Leftovers
Ability: Prankster
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252 HP / 120 Def / 36 SpA / 68 SpD / 28 Spe
Move 1
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power Ice
- Thunder Wave
- Taunt
Thundurus is my team's support mon. Thunderbolt shuts down other wallbreakers and bulky Water-types. HP Ice provides coverage, and Thunder Wave provides my team with Speed control. Taunt helps prevent other Speed or weather control teams from setting up.

politoed.gif

Politoed @ Sitrus Berry
Ability: Drizzle
Nature: Calm
EVs: 252 HP / 76 Def / 76 SpA / 100 SpD / 4 Spe
- Scald
- Icy Wind
- Helping Hand
- Protect
Politoed is almost required for Rain Dance teams. Drizzle is obviously what makes this a Rain team. Scald is a great STAB move that provides a possible burn, and Icy Wind hits both opponents while lowering their Speed. Helping Hand assists Ludicolo or Talonflame in setting up.

ludicolo.gif

Ludicolo @ Assault Vest
Ability: Swift Swim
Nature: Modest
EVs: 252 HP / 188 SpD / 68 SpA
- Scald
- Giga Drain
- Ice Beam
- Fake Out
Like Politoed, Ludicolo is one of the most popular mons for Rain Dance teams. Ludicolo and Politoed work well together in the rain. Giga Drain is a decent STAB move that provides reliable recovery. Ice Beam helps Ludicolo deal with its Flying-type weakness, and Fake Out helps prevent opponents from setting up Weather or Speed control teams.

talonflame.gif

Talonflame @ Life Orb
Ability: Gale Wings
Nature: Adamant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
- Brave Bird
- Flare Blitz
- Taunt
- Protect
I went for a utility set with Talonflame. Like Thundurus, I chose to run Taunt to prevent other weather or Speed control teams from setting up. Gale Wings boosted Brave Bird and Flare Blitz are both obvious move choices for Talonflame.

amoonguss.gif

Amoonguss @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Regenerator
Nature: Relaxed
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
- Rage Powder
- Spore
- Giga Drain
- Protect
As horrible as its design is, I love to use Amoonguss in competitive battle. Regenerator along with Giga Drain proves reliable recovery. With good bulk maximized by its EV spread, Rage Powder allows Amoonguss to take hits for my team. Amoonguss is also good at redirecting hits to prevent opponents from setting up.

just a thought maybe three waters and double grass may not be the best maybe replaceing Ludicolo, Bisharp, Aegislash or something may be better. Also don't run Toxic and Sludge Bomb on Amoonguss if you add a steel type then fairy type coverage won't be needed. Run Spore over Toxic as it is pretty crap in VGC and Giga Drain over Sludge Bomb. Losing Ludicolo will result on no grass coverage so Giga Drain gives you that (besides Sludge Bomb doesn't even KO Sylveon and Gard) now to deal with fairies you can just Spore them.

4 RMTs in one day the dream

I've actually been meaning to rate this team for awhile now, so I've had some time to collect my thoughts. The immediate thing that needs to be addressed is your Rain mode. Right from the start there are two ways to take this. I'll outline the first one right now:

Thundurus > Manetric, Conkeldurr > Ludicolo, Aegislash > Politoed

The team preview would look like this:

Both of the successful Mega-Swampert Rain teams in VGC this year have used the Thundurus/Swampert Combo without Politoed, and the report about the 2nd team can be found here. This totally changes the dynamic of your team to aggressive speed control Thundurs with Rain Dance/Thunder Wave and a bunch of Pokemon that can abuse that. I feel that something like this may be your best bet, however that's not really the point of RMTs. I'm merely putting this on the table for you to consider.

If you decide to keep your team about the same:

Run Swift Swim on Ludicolo, and give Swampert Rock Slide. Ice Punch doesn't hit much on Swampert, and Ice Beam Ludicolo does it's job much better. Rock Slide lets you cover Char Y on the turn it Mega-Evolves as well as giving you the option to fish for flinches when times call for it. Besides that, you can switch out Pokemon as suggested above or not at your leisure. Some of them like Conk were kinda throw-ons, but others like Thundurus would probably do very well. Thundy can perform both Manetric and Politoed's role with a Ground immunity and Prankster Thunder Wave throw in. Just tell me how much you do or don't want to change and I can post a follow up catered to that.

Thanks! I'll check out the other VGC teams that revolve around Rain Dance and M-Swampert. I'll update this with your second suggestion because I do want to use the Politoed / Ludicolo combination, but I might try the team in your first suggestion later on to compare how they both work.
