Could this mean no more disconnected matches, and no more losses?

Recently when someone disconnected from me during a rematch on WiFi (Pokemon Diamond), I found that neither of the two battles that we had counted (the first battle wasn't saved on my trainer card). Another time I was on, right after I had won a battle and was in the WiFi waiting room, my battery died and my win wasn't recorded. I wasn't sure if this was of any great importance, but I decided to test something:

Rather than shutting off during a battle when you are losing, after the battle is over and you are in the WiFi waiting area (where it displays connected friends, can invite/disconnect... that area), you can simply shut off then, and none of the matches that you've had during your WiFi session will be recorded on your Trainer Card. Just don't select disconnect, and nothing will happen to your card; it will be the same as it was before you entered WiFi.

Should you disconnect, then you can save and your wins will be permanent.

What does this mean? People who don't want to have recorded losses now don't have to take wins from others. They can shut off while in the WiFi waiting area and everyone will be happy.

But, this also means that it would be impossible for people to knowingly keep losses recorded, so all trainer cards could be fraud (not that it REALLY matters).

Anyways, here’s how I see it:

There will be no more losses on trainer cards.
- There will be no more losses on trainer cards.
+ Keeps the winner and loser happier.
+ There will be no more disconnects in-battle.
+ You can test a new team without worrying that you’ll have losses recorded because of it.
- Only wins will matter, losses can be fraud.
+ Since only wins will matter and there’s no downside to experimenting, so all new strategies could emerge.
- Once word of this gets out, EVERYONE will be doing this. It’s guaranteed, as now they won’t get a bad reputation, and won’t ever get a loss.

any comments?

I've known about this since forever.

Really don't think it'll make THAT big of a difference. It's only a number on your trainer card. Anyone who obsesses over it is a little insane in my book.

really? then why hasnt it been spread like mad to those who do disconnect?

Yeah, I've known about this for a while. I assumed everyone knew, actually. People will still disconnect because they don't want to see themselves lose. Or people will say, like on Shoddy, "who cares it's just a game I was losing so I left get over it".

Maybe because those who disconnect wouldn't give a damn anyways?

Either way they don't record a loss. They may as well save themselves a few minutes and not bother waiting out the battle.

That's the way I see it, anyhow.

People care about W/L records on trainer cards?

why else would they disconnect when losing?

I posted this becuase 2 of 3 matches on sites other than smogon end up in disconnects. This would make disconnects no more, once people find out about it.

at least that was my hope...

and if they didn`t want to waste time, then can now run and then shut off to have no loss.

If people didn't care about it, then it wouldn't be in the game.

Even though being able to D/C your way out of a loss means that, for all intents and purposes, it's a worthless metric? Why would you even care about your W/L rate if you're not even going to be halfway honest with yourself?

On the contrary. Just because it is in the game doesn't mean people care about them... (Like Vultures in Starcraft >_> )

Anyway, as long as I have Comcast as my ISP, I will disconnect from matches. Comcast ****ing sucks.

Because those people can show their friends how they have 110 wins and 0 losses. I mean, if that's what the game says, it can't be wrong, right?!

I really dont know... maybe bragging rights?

the ''proof'' to say I have 10 wins and no losses even though I have 12 losses

they would just have shallow lies, but still...

EDIT: I am going to spread this on gamefaqs, serebii, and marriland so that disconnecting becomes a thing of the past. Just trying to help =D

or is it a mistake alerting the noobs?

i would still keep my losses because people will know that you lost to a person and its better to be honest. My record on wifi is 120 to 7 and im being honest right there.

You're being naive, Chozo. There are many people out there who don't care about being a good loser or stuff like that, there are others who really don't care, and that's fine. By posting this and making it a fact, records will be even more stupid and, as others say, we'll have people boasting about a 999-0 record and shit.

However, if you have never taken records as a serious thing, then it doesn't really matter if people start doing this shit or not.

that's not the point of this. I just don't want people disconnecting on me anymore. I'm sick of having a stall fest for half an hour just for them to shut off because they don't want a loss.
Einstein was just trying to figure out how the universe before it killed 200,000 people.

Who cares about wins on your trainer card when you dont record losses?

Can just imagine looking contently at my trainer card going "ooooh yeah, 500 wins and 0 losses, I rule"
