ORAS Doubles OU My First Ever Doubles OU Team

Greninja @ Life Orb
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Dark Pulse
- Ice Beam
- Mat Block

I picked Greninja because I've never used it before and wanted to see what it can do. This Pokemon is mainly for supporting others with Mat Block to let them set up, this set is linked with Cloyster, Sylveon and Claydoll for the most part. But it can help with all the other Pokemon on my team as well. My set is a normal special sweeper with max speed to make use of Mat Block all the other moves are just for getting knockouts. But don't get to cocky with Mat Block as it has no priority and a quick fake out is all it takes for the set to back fire.

Cloyster @ King's Rock
Ability: Skill Link
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Icicle Spear
- Rock Blast
- Ice Shard
- Shell Smash

I picked Cloyster for the idea of using Mat Block to let it set up and then sweep. The role of this
Pokemon is to knockout my opp. team as fast as possible - Simply put, a sweeper. It has SSmash to set up, ice shard for a quick knockout, Icicle Spear & Rock Blast to make use of Skill Link, King's Rock also helps with Skill Link. You should make sure you get your shell smash up but be careful if you use it at the wrong time you could spell D O O M for Cloyster, try to set up with the help of Greninja's Mat Block.
115-mega.gif

Kangaskhan-Mega @ Kangaskhanite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Fake Out
- Return
- Earthquake
- Power-Up Punch

There wasn't any clear reason for picking Kangaskhan I just wanted to try to use him. The role of this Pokemon is to be a psychical sweeper that can be relied on more often than Cloyster as you don't need to have Greninja in play to set up. Start with a fake out in most cases and you'll be good, but I do find my self going straight for return/earthquake. Sometimes I've even not mega'ed to make use of Scrappy.
700.gif

Sylveon @ Leftovers
Ability: Pixilate
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock
- Hidden Power [Ground]
- Calm Mind

I picked Sylveon to try and make up for my weakness to fighting. It's role on the team is to hit hard and take hits. Use Hyper Voice to hit both of your opponents Pokemon at once, you can use Psyshock to take care of Poison type Pokemon and HP Ground for steel.
398.gif

Staraptor @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird/Double-Edge
- Return
- Close Combat
- U-turn

I picked Staraptor mainly, because I love it... it's role to to keep the game in my favor by out speeding most foes and hitting them hard with Brave Bird, Return/Double-Edge and Close Combat. You can also play some mind games with U-Turn.
344.gif

Claydol @ Light Clay
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 HP / 112 Def / 144 SpA
Bold Nature
- Earth Power
- Psyshock
- Reflect
- Light Screen

I picked Claydol because it covers both of my big weaknesses, being Electric & Fighting. It's role is to set up Reflect & Light Screen. The EV spread I have is what I figured would be good, it gives you 301 Def. and 324 HP which comes in handy for the bulkyness of this Pokemon and it just does enough damage to get some knockouts.

That's My First Ever Doubles OU/VGC Team I've Ever Made. Thanks For Viewing!

Just a quick heads up, DOU and VGC are different metagames with different banlists, DOU follows a more "try to balance the game" banlist and is played at level 100, VGC has mainly the cover legendaries banned, and all pokemon must be obtainable in gen 6.

For the team ive noticed only greninja has a protecting move, i personally like protect a lot and would throw it onto cloyster over ice shard, try it on kangakhan instead of fake out (fake out still works really well so i would just say try it and if you prefer fake out then go back), onto sylveon over calm mind, and onto claydol over earth power or psyshock.

Another thing that seems a bit lacking is speed control, which can be important. However your team looks either fairly fast (cloyster after a ss, greninja, raptor, mega kan) or pretty bulky (sylveon and claydol) so it shouldnt be your biggest problem.

Congrats man on your first team. Though, i can see you have given some thought to this team, there are quite a few changes you can make
-put protect on sylveon instead of psyshock, you have claydol for poison types
- use sucker punch on kanga to make it standard, with +2 boost it can ko most of stuff, also earthquake is not necessary for your team, specially with sylveon not running protect.
- use sash on cloyster, so that you can set shell smash easily.
-use klefki as your screen setter if you want one, but then add scarfed lando-t as your check to heatran and char-y.
- as now you have focus sash on cloyster, you can remove ninja, for rotom wash

Hi! Really odd looking team you have here. First off Greninja outside of being something that spams Blizzard on hail or just an all out attacker(which is niche as it is) is not very good especially the Mat Block variant. I changed Greninja to a life orb Excadrill. Your team is extremely weak to Rotom-W(OHKOs with Drill Run), Thundurus(walls it), and Aegislash(does a lot of damage lol). Excadrill also beats Heatran which walls your Cloyster to hell and back. For Cloyster I would put Protect over Ice Shard and Focus Sash over Kings Rock which helps you in so many matchups. For Kangaskhan Earthquake is generally something you don't use because it's not STAB and it spread reduction makes it really weak. So I would replace that with Sucker Punch. I would also replace Power-Up punch with Low Kick to OHKO Heatran, opposing Kangaskhan(depending on how bulky it is), and it does more damage to Ferrothorn. Generally you don't use Power-Up punch with Double-Edge to conserve your health but now that you're running Low Kick you should also use Double-Edge which nabs kills that Return cannot get most notably on Charizard-Y. I forgot to mention this but change Kangaskhan's nature to Adamant, it has priority Sucker Punch and I added some speed control to the team so Jolly is not necessary it also fails to kill some of the things it should(0 hp Kangaskhan, Bulky Char-Y) without Adamant.

I really like the idea of Calm Mind Sylveon, I've been meaning to try it out after seeing people like Fangame10 have decent success. However I would change Psyshock for Protect and Leftovers for Pixie Plate to bluff Choice Specs. I changed the spread around to hit 270 speed after the opponent is hit with an Icy Wind which out speeds all of the things that speed creep things that EV to out speed base 70's(usually 264-268~). So most notably you out speed Heatran(by a lot lol) Kyurem-B, and bulkier versions of Hydreigon. For Staraptor I was thinking of using a Final Gambit set or maybe even Choice Band(I think it was used at worlds lol i'm not 100% sure). I ended up replacing it with Talonflame because its just so much better and easier to slap onto a team. If you want to use it in the future I would recommend building around it directly not adding it to a team toward the end because it generally adds more holes than it covers up. Talonflame however is amazing Brave Bird, Flare Blitz, Tailwind, Protect standard set. It's a better Keldeo and Sun check it also helps Excadrill, Kangaskhan, and Sylveon with Tailwind. That Claydol set and Claydol in general is very bad. I replaced it with a support Gengar(which I seem to use a lot o_o) Icy Wind because speed control is nice, Will-O-Wisp to neutralize Kangaskhan and other physical attackers, Taunt to prevent things like Spore and Trick Room, and Shadow Ball to break subs and do some damage.

Excadrill @ Life Orb
Ability: Mold Breaker
EVs: 32 HP / 252 Atk / 224 Spe

Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

Thanks I like the edits you made! you did help :D 1 thing i didn't like was Low Kick on kanga.

Low Kick is a better option on Kangaskhan on that team build for 2 other reasons that Deo didn't touch upon. The first is because you only have 1 true Heatran check, and it can't even switch in on Heatran, and straight up loses once Heatran gets behind a Sub. The second benefit is that it also gives you a more reliable way of beating opposing Kangaskhans without having to bank on speed ties, since Low Kick Kangaskhan OHKO's every other common Kangaskhan variant.

Just one change I would recommend is Heatran instead of Excadrill because right now Ferrothorn and Aegislash both give your team hell for the most part, and Excadrill is not a very reliable answer to either of them, and you also lack anything which can reliably switch in on Fire-type attacks, and every time an opposing Charizard comes in it will likely be taking something out unless you want to bank on outrunning with Kangaskhan or with Cloysters Rock Blast after it takes it down to its sash, neither of which are good options because Zard is often paired with Venusaur who can sleep Kangaskhan or 1-2 with Charizard to take down Cloyster.
