ORAS UU Balance Team

Decided to make a team for UU tier and wanted to see how it's rated. I'm looking for advice since I'm new to the forum and not as familiar with ORAS UU as I am with OU. Any criticisms helps and let me know of my mistakes or any alternate moves or choices you would recommend. Here is my team:

Feraligatr @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Crunch
- Dragon Dance
- Ice Punch

Feraligatr isn't just one of my favorite starters, it's power. A good timed Dragon Dance and it can OHKO or almost sweep none bulky pokemon. The new Sheer Force gives it more power and Waterfall is stab. Ice Punch is the dragon/ground slayer and crunch deals with most everything else.

Quagsire @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Earthquake
- Scald
- Toxic
- Recover

A bulky swap in with decent moves and recover to help stall a round or recover from a bad switch in. A lot of teams run a Protect Mon so that's a free turn to Recover. Toxic also gives enough damage for Feraligatr to clean up.

Chandelure @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Shadow Ball
- Energy Ball
- Trick
A swap in for the annoying fighting type moves that almost every team carries or any normal moves. Trick will help choice pokemon into setup moves until they switch out and Energy Ball/Fire Blast are for the Grass Types that can body my previous picks. He's an annoyer with purpose.

Blissey @ Leftovers
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpD / 4 Spe
Gentle Nature
- Wish
- Protect
- Seismic Toss
- Heal Bell
The wall underneath Giratina. I needed a swap for Chandelure for any ghost moves and Blissey has health for days anyway. Seismic Toss may end up being replaced with Substitute just to have a cleric or Protect to stall for a Wish setup. Not the best but I already have a Mega.

Absol @ Absolite
Ability: Justified
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Superpower
- Knock Off
- Swords Dance
- Sucker Punch
Sweeps #2, Absol cleans up and is a good switch in for toxic users thanks to Mega's Magic Bounce. Swords Dance to setup, Knock out and Sucker Punch to annoy and deal good damage. Superpower is for the Mega Aggrons and usual bulky Pokemon used in the tier with the fighting weakness.

Whimsicott @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Moonblast
- Giga Drain
- U-turn
- Psychic
The usual lead to test the waters and the diversion for anyone rolling with a Grass or Fire lead for my team. Moonblast stab, Giga for heals, U-turn for the lead switch and psychic to kill fighting types that could body Blissey.

OK so this looks like a pretty weird team at first glance, in all honesty. It looks like it tries to be a balance team but honestly ends up becoming a very weird hyper offensive team with a stall core. I've decided to change it into a hyper offensive team considering it's basically almost there anyhow with the amount of offensive 'mons and offensive synergy that's already there.
  • First off, I definitely recommend having non-Choiced Whimsicott > current set, as this will help you deal with a lot of setup sweepers via Encore, still maintain your offensive presence with Whimsicott, allow you to switch up moves, and basically still deal with most of the threats Specs deals with anyhow.
  • Next up, I definitely recommend having Jolly > Adamant on Absol, as the power difference isn't too significant but without Jolly you miss out on being able to outspeed or Speed tie quite a few targets, including Adamant Feraligatr, Modest Rotom-C, etc before Mega Evolving and Mega Houndoom, Cobalion and others after Mega Evolving.
  • I also highly recommend having Flash Fire > Infiltrator on Chandelure, as being able to hit through Substitute doesn't come into play too often, it will only really matter against Substitute Chandelure which I haven't seen too much as of late since Sub Cobalion is walled by Chandelure anyways and Sub Gatr is dealt with by Whimsicott anyhow, and having a Fire-type immunity will help a lot against the likes of Entei, which can trouble your team.
  • The team currently lacks Stealth Rock and could honestly appreciate a way to weaken Mega Aggron so the likes of Feraligatr and Mega Absol can have an easier time sweeping, so I recommend having Azelf > Quagsire, as this way you can add a solid lead, a Stealth Rock setter, as well as remove one of the two walls which cut your momentum in half.
  • Lastly, I recommend having Mamoswine > Blissey, as this gives you a good wallbreaker to help Feraligatr and Mega Absol have an easier time sweeping, while also giving you an Electric-type immunity so you're not as easily beaten by VoltTurn, and it has Ice-type priority so you can revenge kill the likes of Mega Aerodactyl and Salamence a lot easier.
Whimsicott @ Pixie Plate
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Encore
- Energy Ball / Giga Drain
- Moonblast
- U-turn

Standard offensive non-Choiced set, allows you to keep momentum, hit hard enough with Moonblast, and ensures you don't have trouble against most of the setup sweepers and passive 'mons in the tier. Energy Ball allows you to hit most things hard enough, including an OHKO on Mamoswine if I'm not mistaken while Giga Drain is a weaker alternative that gives you slightly more longevity. Your choice.

Azelf @ Focus Sash
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Explosion
- Fire Blast
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock

Standard lead set with Fire Blast in order to ensure Forretress, Mega Aggron and other Steel-types are weakened enough for the sweepers to sweep with ease.

Mamoswine @ Life Orb
Ability: Thick Fat
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Ice Shard
- Icicle Crash
- Stone Edge / Knock Off

Mostly standard Mamoswine here. Honestly, the last slot is up to you. I like the idea of having Stone Edge here to be able to smack Rotom-H which can potentially cause problems for your team while also being able to hit Ice-types, like Mega Abomasnow, for super effective damage so you're able to smack them as well. Knock Off is the more standard alternative which allows you to cripple a lot of 'mons like Porygon2 and Cresselia but this weakens the power of Mega Absol's Knock Off so it's your choice honestly.

Thanks for the suggestions, the first team works about as well as you think on Showdown when I tried it. It didn't win as much but it did get the job done. Gardevior did come up but that was a tier I didn't want to get into because of too many checks and blocks. I guess it was offensive with the sense that Blissey had health to tank a hit and get a least one wish off. Interesting to use Mamoswine as the electric type check, I would think Mamoswine was in OU or at least the borderline.
