[OVERVIEW]

  • Carbink is s set up sweeper that requires the right moment for getting in as well as a very passive Sunny Day setter used for supporting the team that get a nice boost from Sun.
  • Carbink is amongst one of the faster rock setters in the tier allowing it to set up Stealth Rocks against other leads like Golem allowing it to set up both Sunny Day and Stealth Rock before going down.
  • Carbink has high defenses but low HP meaning that pokemon using HP draining moves don't recover as much much and a Wish passed will bring Carbink's HP almost full or full most of the time.
  • Carbink is weak to some of the more common types found in the tier being Grass and Wate-type.
  • Carbink is resisted to normal making it a good pivot for pokemon like Dodrio and Stoutland.
  • Unfortunately, Carbink gets set up on easily do to it being extremely passive.
  • Carbink doesn't have a reliable recovery and relies on Rest to restore health
  • Carbink pull off a RestTalk sweeper with the right support.
  • Carbink will always be able to set up at least one thing thanks to the ability Sturdy.
[SET]
name: ROCK WITH EYES
move 1: Moonblast
move 2: Calm Mind
move 3: Rest
move 4: Sleep Talk
item: Leftovers
ability: Clear Body
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Rest is to keep Carbink's healthy and is its only recovery allowing it to stay alive for the Calm Mind sweep.
  • Calm Mind is to help boost its defenses and mediocre attack potentially letting it become a sweeper.
  • Sleep Talk to help Carbink not be vulnerable when having to use Rest.
  • Moonblast is a reliable STAB and Carbink's most powerful special move.

Set Details
========

  • Leftovers is used to help Carbink recover a bit after taking hits.
  • Max HP and Def and a Bold nature is used to improve Carbink's bulk.
  • Clear Body is used for the off chance that the opponent gets a drop like a Psychic special defense drop or a defense drop from Crunch.

Usage Tips
========

  • Carbink should try to set up one all it threats are gone like Klang, Metang, and Exeggutor.
  • Carbink does like to punish free moments with Calm Mind (or Rest if HP is low)
  • Since Carbink has a very low attack it should not start attacking after 1 boost but wait till it gets at least 3 to 4 boost unless it is unnecessary to get those stats that high.
  • Since Carbink can sponge a lot of hits it doesn't need Memento or Screens support most of the time but needs to come in at the right moment so abusing U-turn and Volt Switch is Carbink's best option of being able to get set up.
  • Carbink requires a lot of support and should only be put on teams that can support it properly.

Team Options
========

  • Carbink doesn't need it but Screeners and Memento users can help get Carbink on at the right moment.
  • Trapinch and Probopass can help to eliminate steel-types that threaten Carbink.
  • Bulky Grass types like Roselia and Tangela can help take attacks from Water and Ground types as well other opposing grass-types that threaten Carbink.
  • Wish passers like Hypno help Carbink come back in after being weakened and due to Carbink's low health can be healed to full or near full.
  • Electric types like Electrode and Zebstrika provide nice Volt Switches allowing Carbink to get in on the right moment to sweep as well as to help duel Water-types that once again threaten Carbink
  • U-turners and Volt Switchers help to get Carbink on at the right moment which can allow it to sweep. Pokemon like Pelliper and Raichu.

[SET]
name: Sun Setter
move 1: Sunny Day
move 2: Stealth Rock
move 3: Magic Coat / Toxic
move 4: Explosion
item: Heat Rock
ability: Sturdy
nature: Jolly
evs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

  • Sunny Day allows for Fire types and Chlorophyll sweepers to get their buffs in order to start sweeping.
  • Sunny Day helps to reduce the amount of damage super effective Water-type moves do to Carbink allowing it to sustain more hits.
  • Stealth Rock allows Carbink's teammates to efficiently sweep without having to worry about Sturdy/Focus Sash.
  • Stealth Rocks is good for doing residual damage over time.
  • Explosion allows Carbink to get out after it is done doing its job. This can also stop slower pokemon from removing hazards like Vullaby.
  • Magic Coat makes it so Carbink can avoid a Taunt which would other wise render it useless. It also helps against pokemon like Pelipper and Grumpig who may try to hit Carbink with a Toxic
  • Toxic can make Carbink a little bit less passive allowing it to get damage out on pokemon who may try to stay in and abuse Carbink's passiveness.

Set Details
========

  • Heat Rock allows Carbink to get the maximum amount of Sun turns.
  • Sturdy helps to make sure that Carbink always gets Sun or Stealth Rocks up bar Mold Breaker users.
  • The speed EVs and Jolly nature is to allow Carbink to get as much speed as possible and try to set up both Sun and Rocks.
  • The HP investment allows it take hits slightly better.

Usage Tips
========

  • Carbink should be used either as a lead or a mid game pivot.
  • Carbink should try not to stay in very long since it can be set up on without much trouble.
  • Carbink should always try to set up Sun before it dies so it does not waste any turns it shouldn't.
  • Normal types make perfect setup for late game such as Choice Band Stoutland and Bouffalant allowing Carbink to abuse that normal resist and get up both Sunny Day and Stealth Rock.
  • Carbink should never stay in on anything that can set up as it will never be able to do anything significant back to it except for Toxic.
  • Magic Coat shouldn't be revealed unless positive that they will go for a status move.

Team Options
========

  • Chlorophyll sweepers such as Sunflora and Exeggutor appreciates the sun being up they can start applying pressure or cleaning up.
  • Fire types like Rapidash and Ninetales appreciate the extra boost to their STABs as well as the not so big weakness to Water-type moves.
  • Bulky pokemon that like to pivot from Carbink can make excellent partners such as Dusknoir.
  • Water types such as Politoed and Simipour to take steel and water type for Carbink.
  • Toxic Spike setters such as Venipede can allow Carbink to stall a bit more effectively since Carbink doesn't apply any real pressure itself.
  • Carbink appreciates Wish and Heal Bell to help keep Carbink allive in case you try to start the sweep to early or get crit, so Lickilicky and Hypno can fill this role quite nicely.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Carbink can run Power Gem and Earth Power for different offensive options but they are weaker and don't really help that much.
  • Carbink can run Safeguard to protect itself and its team from status effects like Will-o-Wisp and Toxic. Unfortunately Carbink is super slow and anything faster than it will get a status off before Carbink actually uses Safeguard.
  • A Light Screen/Reflect set can be run but it is totally outclassed by Meowstic and Solrock.

Checks and Counters
===================

  • **Mold Breakers** Fraxure and Rampardos can easily come in and kill Carbink regardless of Sturdy. Fraxure does need to be set up to OHKO it though and it has to watch out Moonblast.
  • **Taunt** Most of Carbink's set rely of mostly set up moves and unless Taunt is bounced back with Magic Coat, Carbink will be rendered useless.
  • **Steel-types** They can set up on Carbink do to Carbink not having anything to hit them with and its exploitable 4x weakness to Steel.
  • **Grass-types** Due to Carbink's very obvious weakness to grass pretty much any grass type move will kill, bring Carbink down to sturdy or kill it, even defensive grass types like Tangela threaten Carbink by stipping away HP with
  • **Set up Sweepers** Most pokemon are not scared of Carbink meaning they will happily set up as much as they can against it.
  • **Encore** Encore can stop both sets from fully accomplishing there goal either forcing Carbink to switched out or stay in and be sacrificed which it risk being set up on.

take out the mention of piloswine in super effective stabs seeing as it rose to nu, and idk how relevant Wishcash is that it deserves a mention. Maybe mention Floatzel, Golem, Exeggutor etc.

Small thing but your format for C&C is kinda off

It should look like this:

**Insert Threat Here**: Describe why the Pokemon is a threat.

yeah, please check out other works in progress for the format, or the format in the links at the top of the PU QC page. I won't do a full QC check now but screens carbink is a pretty terrible set. The first set should be the ROCK WITH EYES crobink set from the current analysis and then the sun set, screens only needs a mention in OO as Meowstic and Solrock do it better.

Alright so I was going to do a standard check on this, but honestly you need to write this better. Rather than tell you specifically what to do, I'd rather you move this back into WIP and work on it some more. First of all, you forgot team options for the first set. But other than that, this really isn't up to analysis standards. This should be actually useful information, not basic facts I could get when reading its stat distribution or movepool, and it never really goes in depth. For example,
  • Carbink has solid defenses but a rather mediocre HP stat.
I can tell that from looking at its stats
  • Carbink is amongst one of the faster rock setters in the tier.
It's still slow as dirt, this doesn't help
  • Carbink can be a decent RestTalk sweeper
  • Carbink is a decent screen setter as well.
Screens isn't even a main set and it's not good enough to be called decent at all. Keep in mind that this is a pretty low ranked pokemon, you don't have to make it sound positive for the analysis

  • Rest is to keep Carbink's health up.
  • Rest can help to make sure Carbink doesn't get killed by status effects.
Why is this even in 2 bullets? All that needs to be said is something about how rest is its only form of recovery to keep it alive for a calm mind sweep. Status isn't a major factor at all.
  • Carbink requires a lot of support but does not need a lot
wat. no but wat.

Then getting to the usage tips of set 2, it sounds to me like you've never used this set or even seen a team with it, with lines like

  • Normal types make perfect setup for late game such as Stoutland and Bouffalant
Again, I have no idea what this means, it looks like a team option not a usage tip but those aren't even good team options

Other options need to be limited to somewhat viable things. Dual screens (mention why it's outclassed), a utility SR set (talk about why it's outclassed), etc. Magnet rise, safeguard, skill swap, don't need. Also the checks and counters ought to be steel types, water types, ground types, and taunt/encore users. Those should be the 5 categories.

I'm sorry if this was a little harsh but this isn't even close to analysis standards right now. Try looking at other works in progress currently in the forum for a better idea of how to write

I did this for the wrong post whoops :V.
All tips taken into consideration.

Hey SlaySlenderDragon XD, I know this is kind of out of the blue considering this hasn't been posted in in over a month, but the quality of this analysis is low enough that the QC team has decided that this analysis should be reassigned. There's a lot of issues here with writing quality and general metagame knowledge. A few examples:

  • Toxic Spike setters such as Venipede can allow Carbink to stall a bit more effectively since Carbink doesn't apply any real pressure itself.
Venipede is not a viable choice at all on sun since it means you need to use a valuable slot on a second suicide lead
  • Carbink appreciates Wish and Heal Bell to help keep Carbink allive in case you try to start the sweep to early or get crit, so Lickilicky and Hypno can fill this role quite nicely.
Defensive Pokemon like these are not viable on sun teams at all. Also, what "sweep" are you talking about?
  • Chlorophyll sweepers such as Sunflora and Exeggutor appreciates the sun being up they can start applying pressure or cleaning up.
Sunflora is not a viable Pokemon
  • **Mold Breakers** Fraxure and Rampardos can easily come in and kill Carbink regardless of Sturdy. Fraxure does need to be set up to OHKO it though and it has to watch out Moonblast.
This really shouldn't be mentioned at all, neither of these Pokemon can even OHKO Carbink and even if they could this wouldn't be nearly relevant enough to be the first thing mentioned.
  • **Grass-types** Due to Carbink's very obvious weakness to grass pretty much any grass type move will kill, bring Carbink down to sturdy or kill it, even defensive grass types like Tangela threaten Carbink by stipping away HP with
This is very poorly worded and also just flat-out wrong, sure most offensive Grass-types are a problem for it but a lot of them don't do nearly as much as you imply and, in fact, Carbink can even use defensive Roselia or Tangela as setup fodder.

There's lots of other issues too that I haven't pointed out, if you want to know what they are or if you want more help with anything feel free to PM me. Locking.
