My name is Drakes new upcoming album (I know alot of people hate him) But been a fan since 08 before the radio. Also I liked all third option cartridges meaning Yellow for Gen 1 and Crystal for Gen 2 because more gameplay options. Being able to get all 3 starters on Yellow was some cheese aswell as Mew. And Crystal because the bluish color of the cartridge and sprites I guess. Im on Showdown right now If u want to run a few matches

What's up Naverwolf, welcome. I personally started with Red/Blue/Yellow, so there's kind of a similarity between us (since you also started with Kanto, basically). I was always hoping that Fire Red/Leaf Green would give access to the Johto region as wel, but unfortunately they didn't. R/S/E is also among my personal favorites. I think Gold is my all time favorite, followed by Emerald and Yellow. And I have to tell you, ORAS is freaking awesome so you better go get it! I skipped DPPt and BW, and I backtracked a while ago. To me they're not as much fun as Generation I-III, but that's where the nostalgic factor plays a big role.

Until I got into ORAS I also never really fully completed my Pokedex. But yeah, ORAS forced me to do it for certain reasons. I experienced it as a long but really fun journey. I encourage you to complete yours as well! And about the competitive aspect; if you're having trouble understanding certain things, just shoot me, Chesty, Dr Ciel, Erai14, QueBien, InfernapeTropius11, or TheHoodedGamer a PM. These people would definitely not mind helping you, and they know quite a lot about everything Pokémon related. Oh, and they're really friendly, which is also quite important in my opinion.

Fire red and leaf green are great games and generation 3 was a pretty good generation. I personally prefer generation 4 which in my opinion is the best generation. I can gladly help you complete the pokedex as well just feel free to let me know. I also love the n64 I thought it was a great system and te games are amazing on the system. I also see that your learning on competitive Pokemon. I can help you out with any of that as well. I also recommend you check out smogons YouTube channel and the strategy dex. Hope that helps. Hello Sebastian, welcome to the Smogon forums. I remember way back when Gold and Silver got introduced, my favorite Pokemon was an Eeveelution too. I couldn't choose between Umbreon and Espeon because they both are so awesome! I eventually chose for Umbreon, because I liked the newly introduced type. Nowadays I don't really have a favorite Pokemon anymore. If I'd have to choose one it would probably be Shuckle. Not for its playstyle, but just for what it is. If it only had a little more HP...

Today I'll be battling quite a lot on Pokémon Showdown! so perhaps we could do some battles? For some reason though, all my teams got deleted (again) so I'm only playing Random Battle at the moment. And since you're looking to improve your teams, I suggest taking a look at the Rate My Team subforum. Make sure to read the rules before posting though. In the Rate My Team forum, top players are generous enough to rate teams and give very useful feedback. It works really well in my opinion.

Hey there! Even though it's late, welcome to Smogon. It feels so unreal that some people only recently got into Pokémon. I myself have been playing since R/B/Y got released, and I'm now 22. How did you play GBA games through emulator against your friends?! I never figured out how to do that.. I always pick the started that looks nicest to me, no particular type. My favorite region is Johto, and with that my favorite game is Pokémon Gold.

Since you like Yu-Gi-Oh! you should maybe contact the user Chesty. He's a friend of mine here on the forums and he's also into Yu-Gi-Oh! Perhaps you can do some dueling (that's what it is called right?)

Hey Mike, welcome to Smogon. I've also been playing ever since Generation I got released, but I've been into competitive play for ages already. If you want I could give you some tips, maybe while we do a battle or two. Showdown or Wi-Fi, I don't mind. Since you want some tips on team building, check out the Rate My Team subforum. It is a place where people rate teams and give feedback on them. Make sure to read the rules before posting though, as they are quite important.

Fire red and emerald are great games and I also think generation five was great even though it got tons of hate. I play on showdown now and then and have had two years of battling experience. If you would like I can share some advice or help you out with anything just feel free to let me know. My real name is Andrew also and I'm a senior in high school. Loosing actually is a good way to get some knowledge about the meta game in fact doing tons of battles is the best way to gain experience. If you need some help let me know.

I just happened to come across this thread just now. I also hope to get back into oras ou. my favorite mons are breloom and garchomp. not too motivated on oras uu currently but maybe I'll play,who knows. Fyi im a weird otaku that likes anime and manga.

Edit-oh yeah i forgot, if you're wondering how I found this site, i've been studying the art of surfing the web since I was 9-10 so I just came across some wifi battles on youtube. never realized this site has a forum until like the age of 12. I first signed up in hopes of getting my shitty starter team rated. strangely enough, i broke the rules without realizing it but it never got locked even though i read the rules before posting on the rmt forums. I could never play on po or shoddy back then cuz strange internet troubles but it changed when I got new internet at the age of 13 just when b/w was almost ending. oh yeah and i some how got through some parts of leaf green, and blue like for example i caught a slowpoke at around the twenties back as a child and beated a charizard after some attempts that was around the 50s. caterpie vs alakazam in blue is my favorite as well as blastoise soloing the elite 4 right up until it got destroyed by lance's gyarados only to never do the same thing again. only beated the elite 4 in leaf green because i was messing around with a aerodactyl until it got hit by a pikachu thundershock so i finally realized that the zapdos i had could beat lance's aerodactyl. thunder never missed back then for me

My favorite Pokemon are mostly Gen 1, but I like Arcanine, Dragonite, Slowbro, Rhydon, and plenty of others. I wanted to join the forums to learn more about competetive battling and to find people to play with. I breed my own Pokemon, and enjoy that aspect a lot. What up Roian, welcome to Smogon! I actually pronounced your name as "Ryan". Stupid me..

I also started with Generation I (Yellow to be precise) and got hooked ever since. My all time favorite is Generation II (Gold), hence I loved the remakes (HG/SS) so much. I personally got into competitive play in Generation III (R/S/E) and I have been using Smogon since a resource since then. Only a short while ago I decided to make an account after ages of browsing on Smogon on my friend's computer. I don't really have a favorite Pokemon, but since Generation II is my favorite, I think I'd go for Shuckle if someone asks me. That little quirky pal with the highest defensive stats in the game (screw those megas). Maybe we can battle sometime, and I can show you my awesome Shuckle set?! Just kidding, I never use Shuckle in-game :')

And since you also like breeding, you should also check out the Wi-Fi section. It's a place where you can do trades, battles, and get information about capturing and breeding. Nice to meet you!

Id love to battle sometime! I normally play OU, but love making really strange sets on Pokemon who get overlooked or are pretty gimmicky. (My friends HATE my Special Wall Keckleon!) I still sort of use that old "No Legendaries" rule, but thats only since mine dont have the right natures. I dont mind battling against anything, so bring Shuckle if you'd like. :) I was hoping to get into the Battling 101 tutoring program, but it seems they are closed until January. Ill hit up the wifi section and see whats what over there, thanks!

I am one of those guys that played tons of pokémon as a kid, starting with Pokémon Blue Version, and followed the series on-and-off since then. But I have never experienced the the community and I must admit I am impressed with the amount of work done here. Smogon has certainly turned me on for Pokémon yet again!
I don't really know anyone who plays pokémon on a regular basis, so I am hoping to meet new people with shared interrests here. I might try to apply for the whole mentor/apprentice thing once I know my way around.

Yo Validar, welcome. So you were also one of those guys that played tons of Pokémon games as a kid! I also started with Generation I (Pokémon Yellow was my first game) followed by Gold and Ruby. When I first found out about Smogon (which is quite some years ago) I was also impressed. More importantly, I was happy that there was a place like this, where hardcore Pokémon players can unite and talk about basically anything related to Pokémon. I started browsing and never really decided to make an account because I was more active in other Pokémon communities, until a while back.

What's up Born to rule, welcome to Smogon. By saying LoL, dead you mean League of Legends? Or is it just your way of saying "lol"? Anyway I have also completed Emerald and Fire Red. I never really enjoyed Black and White as much as I did enjoy the older games. I found it really hard to get into the newer Pokemon, hence I kind of left off at DPPt. When XY got released I decided to backtrack, and that's when I played DPPt and BW. X and Y got me really happy, because the whole 3D settings looked a lot like a Stadium game. As a kid I had always dreamed about playing Stadium-like games on a handheld, so it felt like a dream came true. Then, when ORAS got announced I got super hyped. Generation III is among my favorites and ORAS also has the lovely 3D settings again. I'm curious, where did you start off? Was Emerald the first Pokémon game you've ever played? Or just the first one you have fully completed? And do you have any goals here on Smogon? Any particular places you are looking for? Let me know! Nice to meet you :)

Hey dude my favorite tier has been RU recently. I played emerald and diamond first and those were great games in my opinion. I to enjoy getting creative with Pokemon movesets and it often can be very fun at points. I hope you enjoy your time on smogon if you need something let me know.
