ORAS OU OU Mega Scizor Manaphy Rain Bulky Offense

Yoooo what's up guys!

This is my first thread on one of my 3 main and best teams so far that are really good on the OU ladder right now in my opinion! Its a Bulky Offense team around Mega-Scizor,one of the best if not the best Pokemon in Bulky Offense! The team concept was not that hard to really think of because when you take a look at Scizor you see its obvious 4x weakness to Fire! And what a better way to cover that than a Rain Team!

Import of the team down below the team explanation!Just click the Pastebin link and make your way to victory!

Before we start of i would like to make clear that the Pokemon used in this team could use the help of the rain but does not require its use in order to function well! You can make good use of the team even without Rain and it will be a lot of times where Rain wont need to be used!

So after saying that here is the team!

MegaScizor_XY.gif

Octavius (Scizor-Mega) (M) @ Scizorite
Ability: Light Metal
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Atk / 44 Def / 200 SpD
Impish Nature
- Swords Dance
- Bullet Punch
- Bug Bite
- Roost

This is the first Pokemon of the team and it's non-other than Mega-Scizor!Mega-Scizor has a lot of resistances with only one weakness in Fire which is covered up very nice from the rest of the team!It is the standard Bulky SD Mega-Scizor therian which is in my opinion the best of all!
Basically this EV spread allows Mega-Scizor to avoid the 2HKO from Jolly Mega-Lopunny's High Jump Kick, it also avoids the 2HKO from maximum Attack Adamant Landorus-T's Earthquake to of the most powrful attacks in the game!200 Special Defense EVs ensure that Mega-Scizor is never OHKOed by Clefable's Fire Blast and Timid Mega Diancie's Hidden Power Fire and never 2HKOed by Mega-Gardevoir's Focus Blast and Life Orb Latios's Draco Meteor followed by -2 Hidden Power Fire, making Mega-Scizor an effective check to some special attackers as well! This thing is a massive win condition for the team and its main role is too take hits ,SD up and Retaliate! The set is simple with Bullet Punch as your main STAB attack being able to clean up after an SD boost!Swords Dance is to boost your attack power even more, Bug Bite as a second more powerful STAB and Roost is there to heal you up and increase your longevity!Light Metal is adviced as an ability prior to Mega Evolution because it allows Scizor to take better some hits if it hasn't Mega Evolved yet, like a Low Kick from Weavile for example!

manaphy anime.gif

#BEARTICS (Manaphy) @ Leftovers
Ability: Hydration
EVs: 248 HP / 244 Def / 16 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Rain Dance
- Rest
- Calm Mind
- Scald

Next up we have the team captain Manaphy! It's the physically defensive Calm Mind therian and is used as a set up sweeper-wall as well!It is used mainly to take the fire type attacks that Scizor doesn't enjoy! The spread is simple:16 Speed EVs allow Manaphy to outpace Adamant Bisharp and potentially burn it first before getting hit by Knock Off,as well as Adamant Breloom, basically non-max speed base 70's. The remaining EVs are placed into HP and Defense, alongside a Bold nature to check physical threats such as Mega Lopunny better. Leftovers is the chosen item to provide Manaphy with passive recovery and to make sure it sticks around for longer.Manaphy can function as a check to the likes of Talonflame, Mega Metagross, Mega Aerodactyl, Keldeo, Landorus-T, Gliscor, and Hippowdon due to the Defense investment.Calm Mind boosts Manaphy's Special Attack and Special Defense slowly to make it more powerful and impervious to special attacks. Scald is Manaphy's main STAB move and is chosen for its nifty 30% chance to burn the foe. On a set utilizing mono-Water coverage, this is particularly important, as the burn chance means that Manaphy can potentially cripple and stall out would-be answers such as Ferrothorn. Rain Dance summons rain, activating Hydration to provide Manaphy with an effective immunity to status ailments and powering up Scald. Rest functions very effectively alongside Rain Dance, recovering all of Manaphy's health under rain without needing to put Manaphy to sleep, making it a good check to the likes of Mega Metagross, Keldeo, and Bisharp!

landorus-therian.gif
Roskstache (Landorus-Therian) (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
IVs: 30 Spe
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Stone Edge
- U-turn
Landorus-Therian is the next pokemon of the team!It provides me with a solid switch-in to Mega-Charizard-X which otherwise was a big problem for this team as well as a Stealth Rocker and a pokemon that can provide momentun via U-Turn!30 Speed Iv's will ensure that you always get outsped by other bulky Landorus-Therian in order to get a slow U-Turn on something and always keep the momentum!

torn t anime.gif

big bird (Tornadus-Therian) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 168 HP / 88 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Knock Off
- Heat Wave
- U-turn

Next up we have Tornadus-Therian!Tornadus is used as a switch-in to Keldeo, which is a big problem for every team if you don't have a switch-in to it!It also provides me with a check to ,Mega-Venusaur, Alakazam and Gengar which were very problematic to deal with before!168 HP / 88 SpA / 252 Spe is powerful enough to OHKO Keldeo after Stealth Rock damage and has enough bulk to always avoid being 2HKOed by Choice Specs Keldeo's Scald.Knock Off is for getting rid of items as well as checking Gengar and Alakazam!Hurricane the primary STAB and it hits Mega-Venusaur for Super Effective, which was another problem before!U-turn is primarly used for getting momentum when switching-out!
zam anime.gif

Jafar (Alakazam) (M) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic
- Shadow Ball
- Focus Blast
- Encore

After that i went with Alakazam because i wanted a Pokemon that can hit hard and clean late game!Maximum Special Attack and Speed EVs with a Timid nature are used so that Alakazam can be as fast and hit as hard as possible, as well as tying with opposing Alakazam and Dugtrio and outspeeding Pokemon that hit base 110-115 Speed, such as Latios, Gengar, and Starmie. Magic Guard is the superior ability here so that Alakazam is not worn down by repeated switches into entry hazard and status. A Life Orb takes advantage of Magic Guard to give a recoil-less boost to Alakazam's offensives, making Alakazam a terrifying wallbreaker and late-game cleaner.Psychic is chosen over Psyshock for the increased damage output as well as the ability to hit physically defensive foes such as bulky Garchomp and Landorus-T much harder. Focus Blast deals with Dark- and Steel-types, which Psychic misses out on, such as Tyranitar and Bisharp. Shadow Ball provides great all-around coverage with Psychic and Focus Blast and hits bulky Psychic- and Ghost- types that the aforementioned two moves cannot deal!

raikou anime.gif

Diego (Raikou) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 30 Def
- Volt Switch
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Signal Beam

Last Pokemon of the team is Raikou!Reason for this choice is that i needed something to switch-in to Tornadus-T and Thundurus which otherwise destroyed my team!252 EVs in Speed with a Timid nature allow Raikou to speed tie with Starmie and other Raikou while being able to outrun threats such as Serperior and Thundurus. 252 EVs in Special Attack maxmimises Raikou's damage output. An Assault Vest enables Raikou to more comfortably switch into special attackers like Thundurus, Manetcric, Manaphy, Keldeo and Mega Charizard Y!Thunderbolt is Raikou's reliable STAB, it has the highest damage output and poses a great threat to Water-types and Mega Charizard Y, which Raikou is generally supposed to check. Volt Switch gives it a safe move to pivot and wear down defensive threats with, which works especially well in conjunction with entry hazards. Hidden Power Ice is compulsory coverage to hit Landorus-T, Gliscor, and Garchomp, which otherwise completely wall Raikou. Last slot is Signal Beam . a move that can hit Tyranitar,Latios,Latias,Alakazam,Celebi,Hoopa-Unbound for a lot of damage and its an attack that almost noone expects!

So that's the team guys!

Hey! Nice team here! I really like the idea of the team but I see something you can change to fix it!

alakazam.png
First of all, you're using Thunder Wave LO Alakazam. Well, LO Kazam is an amazing Pokèmon, but if you want to have something to Stop Char X (Is Manaphy you counter ?_?) I'd suggest you to Change LO in Focus Sash in order to tank an eventual hit and Twave it ez. Twave+Sash Would also Help you to stop DDnite after Lum Berry is gone and other boosting machines.

raikou.png
Your Raikou is the classic AV Kou but I'm recently using Signal Beam > Shadow Ball on Raikou since it hits hardly Hoopa-U and it's still supereffective on Latwins :]

scizor-mega.png
Your Scizor is bulky, agree, but you need some speed investment too :O I think 44 evs are enough to outspeed other common bulky Zors and stuffs.

tornadus-therian.png
I'd use the fighting move on Nadus since you've got a lot of things to hit or counter steel types such as Fire Blast chomp, or Manaphy. Superpower/Focus Blast is also a crucial help against Bulky Tran, a big problem for your BBite Slow Scizor.

I Hope I helped you :O

i was thinking as well about the sash on zam about zard x but ultimately i went with LO to hit harder!both of them can be used!
about torn-t i dont have fighting moves cuz my plan is to u-turn into my manaphy and set up on heatran!now scizor doenst care about outspeeding cuz the bulk is needed on the EV's ! Raikou is preety good i guess with signal beam i have never used that but i'll give it a shot :)! thanks :)

Hey really nice team here, it just have some flaws but i'll try to fix them.

I noticed a pretty big weakness to Charizard-X ; the dude can just sweep you at +1 since you don't have a check/revenge killer or an prankster (thunder-wave).

I'll suggest to change Garchomp to Landorus-T, the only advantage Garchomp have over Landorus-T is to hit thing like Ferrothorn, M-Scizor harder and to check Bisharp but you have M-Scizor for him and Manaphy for like M-Scizor, you don't really have problem with Ferrothorn in your team so its ok. Landorus-T will still work as Stealth Rocker and as good check to many physical attacker like M-Lopunny, Hoopa-U and Zard-X.

Why no using Encore over Thunder-Wave ? Thunder-Wave on Alakazam is pretty useless, even more if you aren't using the Focus Sash to leave an hit from like Zard-X, Altaria. Encore to break stall-oriented archetypes as well as locking setup sweepers into one move, allowing for easy switches and predictions.

Hey man, welcome to Smogon. I don't think threads like this are allowed in the Competitive Discussion forum though, you'll want to post this in "Rate my Team". Tagging bludz to see what he thinks.

i think i am gonna change alakazam to either sash with t-wave or LO with encore like you said!
Also yeah i think that lando-t could work better from chomp ! gonna make these changes right now man :)

Hi Loykey 10 nice team, I have some suggestions on how to improve your team. First of all I don't see any Keldeo switch in to your team, Raikou is a pretty decent check to most of Electrics around, but that happen in Hyper Offense. Your team seem to be more a bulkoff / Balanced, and since it doesn't have any kind of recovery, I'd change it for something able to take hits from Keldeo, which is Latias, beeing able to take most of Electrics and Keldeo as well. The second thing I'd like to change is that Landorus-T, you already have great switches to Mega Lopunny I'd like to change Landorus-T for Heatran, Air Baloon offensive Heatran. I am suggesting Air Baloon on Heatran because of the rare DD 3 attacks Mega Charizard X, but honestly you could run Leftovers if you see it non necesserary.

I suggested Heatran because your lack of ways to hit Heatran, and Bold max Def Manaphy is not a great switch, lack of power and if it's a Power Herb version Manaphy get easily KOed. I don't like Superpower on Tornadus-T because of burns, Focus Blast may miss, so Earth Power with Air Baloon (or leftiez) should be enough to cover those threats. Heatran is also a great fairy check, so you could also consider Chople Berry for the Focus Blast Gardevoir, and if Diancie runs Hidden Power Fire, Mega Scizor is not a great check. You start struggling against Mega Lopunny because of the last change, Mega Scizor + Manaphy should be enough to take it, since that EVs spread on Mega Scizor, is able to avoid the 2HKO on Mega Lopunny. As a last change try Focus Blast on Tornadus-T, with the original version of the team, you struggle against Heatran, and a burn is not welcome on a Superpower set.
latias.gif

Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 32 HP / 224 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Defog
- Recover
heatran.gif

Heatran @ Air Balloon / Leftovers / Chople Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Magma Storm
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
I hope it helped, gl.
