ORAS OU Rakem Foresaw an Attack!

So I've done a few RMTs in the past, but none have been unique. With this, I hope to change that trend. I was browsing Jirachi's moveset when I noticed something I hadn't paid much attention to in the past: Doom Desire. 140 base power? 100 acc? Hell yeah. Only problem is that it works like Future Sight. Or is that really a problem? I got to thinking, Future Sight could actually be a truly viable move if you used it right. Granted, this team is highly weak to dark, so I needed more than just Future Sight users. For this, I considered the following: what type of team would allow Future Sight to actually land? Well the answer was obvious: stall. So here's a list of who I didn't pick for this team that gets future sight and why I didn't run them. After this I'll have the standard RMT format.
Hypno: Do I need to explain myself?
Mewtwo: Ubers, so nah.
Xatu: While magic bounce is great and all, Swoobat is better for this team with this typing thanks to Simple.
Espeon: Espeon is an amazing pokemon, so why not? Because Alakazam is honestly better and I've only got 6 slots.
Lugia: Uber
Ho-oh: Uber
Celebi: Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of Celebi. I've already got a tiny legend and Celebi doesn't bring anything special to the table.
Lunatone: HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
Whiscash: it's better as a physical attacker, as it gets D.Dance, so it doesn't fit here
Absol: Honestly, this was a tough choice. Special Absol holds a special place in my heart, but ultimately I decided against it in favor of a Fairy, as it gives me better coverage.
Bronzong: Already have Jirachi for this type coverage.
Dusknoir: same situation as Whiscash, really.
Azelf, Mesprit, and Uxie: just not a fan.
Cresselia: Tough call, to be honest
Arceus: Uber
Musharna: Hell no
Gothitelle: Would have been great if Shadow Tag wasn't banned
Reuniclus: another tough choice, but ultimately speed won my heart over bulk for a pure psychic type.
Delphox: Ehhhhhhhhhhhh
Mewostic: I didn't even read the list this far.

So now, onto the team itself.

ThereIsNoSpoon (Alakazam) @ Life Orb
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Future Sight
- Psyshock
- Dazzling Gleam

Alakazam? Of course I would run Alakazam. I mean look at these stats:

Massive SpA and Spe should of course be capitalized on, so that's what I did. Calm Mind allows Alakazam to boost its already monster SpA to even higher levels, allowing Future Sight to deal even heavier STAB based damage. Dazzling Gleam is necessary to deal with Dark types, as this team is crippled by them, and Psyshock deals with my team's lack of physical attackers by hitting special walls such as Tentacruel where it hurts.

Illumirachi (Jirachi) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 200 SpA / 56 Spe
Naive Nature
- Body Slam
- Doom Desire
- Iron Head
- Zen Headbutt

Jirachi was the whole reason I put this team together, and this set isn't really anything special. This is my personal standard Jirachi with Doom Desire in place of Trick and Leftovers instead of a Scarf. The Atk based moves are actually only on this Jirachi to stall out and let Doom Desire land a hit, so I didn't need to put EVs into Atk. Paraflinch is simple enough to understand, I think, and on this team it exists, like I said, to allow Doom Desire to leave its mark.

NightmareFuel (Togekiss) @ Leftovers
Ability: Serene Grace
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Air Slash
- Thunder Wave
- Roost
- Future Sight

So if you've seen my YouTube channel (insert shameless RakemGaming plug here) you know that Jirachi and Togekiss are my core. Their typings work well together if you predict well, with Togekiss countering ground and dark moves and Jirachi handling steel and poison moves that would otherwise take Togekiss down. Togekiss runs ParaFlinch and a recovery move for the same reason that Jirachi ran a similar set: to allow Future Sight to land a hit and be worth it. You may be wondering why I'm not running Dazzling Gleam, and there's a simple answer: Four Moveslot Syndrome.

Not Zubat (Swoobat) @ Focus Sash
Ability: Simple
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Calm Mind
- Air Slash
- Stored Power
- Future Sight

So why Swoobat? The answer is Simple. Thanks to this amazing ability, Swoobat can set up a single Calm Mind and Stored Power instantly is more powerful than Psychic is. It holds a Focus Sash to guarantee a setup move as long as you lead with it, and Air Slash gives it a powerful STAB move with a great flinch chance, possibly allowing it to get out a Future Sight attack.

Mai Waifu (Gardevoir-Mega) @ Gardevoirite
Ability: Trace
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Future Sight
- Calm Mind
- Hyper Voice
- Psyshock

Mega Gardevoir was a difficult choice, as I was considering Mega Slowbro in its place. Ultimately, the promise of fairy type Hyper Voice was the selling point. This team suffers greatly against dark types and I needed a solid counter for them, which also explains the last Pokemon on this team. Psyshock is to hit special walls and Calm Mind allows Mega Garde to boost her already amazing special attack stat.

Treble Maker (Clefable) @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Cosmic Power
- Stored Power
- Moonlight
- Moonblast

I said at the beginning that I realized Stall was an amazing option for this team, and it impacted this last slot choice. I knew I needed a fairy type, and a physical one would have been best I thought at first, but then I remembered Clefable. Unaware Clefable with Cosmic Power is an unstoppable wall with great recovery and a powerful attack in Moonblast.

So that's that, then. I look forward to your feedback!

Hey there,
Future Sight/Doom Desire are both interesting moves that have a lot of concepts at play. To use them effectively, however, you can't spam one or the other or both on a team. I would suggest picking one user (probably doom desire rachi it seems), and working with it.

The greatest asset of these moves is the turn they hit. You have enough time to use the attack on turn x, switch on turn x+1, and then attack with that switched mon as future sight lands at the end of turn x+2. Why is this so powerful? This is because in essence, you can land two strong, different typed attacks in one turn. Let me explain,

Lets say your move of choice is Doom Desire. It is a very strong attack that can hit bulky grounds like Landorus-Therian or Garchomp or Hippowdon, as well as Fairy Types. These mons would ordinarily love to switch-in to say, a fighting type attack or some physical dragon attack. But what if future sight was on the same turn? Then if they switch in, they will die or get heavily damaged, so they can't switch-in. But at the same time, if you fire off such an attack that the opponent would normally swich to a counter to respond to, they are forced to leave their current mon in and let it die, or let their counter get hit by doom desire.

In this way, Doom Desire and Future Sight are both powerful attacks, but hard to use well. Since it seems this all started with Jirachi for you, I would reccomend utilizing a Specs Jirachi with Flash Cannon to immediately attack stuff if needed, as well as HP Ground since (Protect) Heatran is quite an annoyance to this strategy, although HP Fire is also useable for (Protect) Ferrothorn and Scizor. From here on, I would recommend adding some powerful attackers that would work extremely well alongside the Doom Desire in the way I described, and can also preferably switch into attacks from pokemon that would like to come in on jirachi (such as (but not only) dark, fire, and ground attacks). Some reccomendations I have are Specs Keldeo, Mega Heracross, or even Mega Ampharos. This part is really up to your creativity, and I can't really redo your team for you if you choose to take my suggestion.

I hope I was able to explain this strategy well, and I also hope you will choose to attempt to remodel your team with the goal in mind that I described. I wish you the best of luck if you do choose to restructure the team, and please let me know if you do so, since I will be able to fully rate the result if you do. Thanks! ^_^

I'll definitely be taking your advice. This team was more to draw attention to the move which it seems to have done. This team is actually absolutely terrible, and I knew that when I made it. I'll post a updated version following your advice soon so keep an eye out!
