Hey guys. I'm not a very well known player on Showdown or on Smogon for that matter. Nonetheless, it hasn't stopped me from competing nor making teams. I probably should say that I haven't played in at least a year or so and have just recently gotten back into the swing of things. I decided to make a team earlier this week and it's worked wonders for me. I haven't experienced any losses yet...
However, I'm still at the lower end of the ladder as my account reset god knows when in the past year. But enough of that, here's the team.
Alright, so I decided to start my team with a Ferrothorn because who the hell doesn't want
a tank that punishes the attackers. This is a standard specially defensive Ferro, who not only surprises attackers with a rocky helmet, but also tanks special hits from Raikou and the like. Seeds to gain health, obvious SR, Protect and Gyro Ball to screw around with taunters.
Ferrothorn @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Iron Barbs
EVs: 252 HP / 66 Def / 190 SpD
Sassy Nature
IVs: 0 Spe
- Leech Seed
- Stealth Rock
- Gyro Ball
- Protect
I had always heard about "team cores" but never paid much attention to them. But I decided to make one for this team. I knew that Ferrothorn was vulnerable to Fire and Fighting type attacks, so I was like "Aye, Rotom... Join this bomb-ass team, yeah?

Anyways, onto the set. This Rotom is made to TANK. Talonflame doesn't stand a CHANCE again'st this wonderful son-of-a-gun. Hydro Pump for some nice damage, T-Wave to slow down potential threats, Volt-Switch to get the fuck outta there, and HP Fire to surprise the unsuspecting victim.
Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Thunder Wave
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
At this point it was really hard to decide whether or not to make this a full-on Great Wall-o-China team but in the end I decided not to. Cores usually consist of two or three pokemans and I wanted to make this core as efficient and effective as possible so I would hope that it's not a surprise to you guys when I picked Clefable as the third member to this bomb core. (get it?)Rotom-Wash @ Leftovers
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 Spe
Bold Nature
- Hydro Pump
- Thunder Wave
- Volt Switch
- Hidden Power [Fire]
THE SET: So... we need to make this Clefable as disgustingly compatible with the other members of the squad as possible. I decided to run a Wish+Protect set (with Unaware to brush off set-ups), seeing as how Ferrothorn needs some healf after a couple hits. Flamethrower for coverage and Moonblast for dat nice STAB. EV's designed to eat a Mega-Scizor Bullet Punch (Bullets not included, Do not try at home.)
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Flamethrower
- Moonblast
- Wish
- Protect
Now, you may have noticed that the team lacks any attackers. Worry not young one for Staraptor joins the fun.
I CANNOT begin to describe the joy I get when this absolute MONSTER steps onto the field. I feel that this set should be included on every team.
Let's start with the set.
Scarf or nothing, that's it. This allows Staraptor to outspeed everything on the field.
Lets couple that with max attack and max speed with adamant nature and boom, you've crafted a nuclear bomb.
Seriously.
All you need to add now is Reckless, Brave-Bird, U-turn, Double-Edge, and CC.
Staraptor @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Reckless
EVs: 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Brave Bird
- Double-Edge
- U-turn
- Close Combat
Another one.
Lets add Bisharp.
Just because.
Not because of the fact that NO ONE expects a sashed Bisharp with Knock-Off, Sucker-Punch, Iron-Head, and Low Kick.
Not because of the enormous 383 attack stat plus boosted Knock-Off or Sucker-Punch with priority.
Not because Bisharp is a total bad-ass.
No, no reason at all.
We just want a Bisharp.
Bisharp @ Focus Sash
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Knock Off
- Sucker Punch
- Low Kick
And finally.
Latias.
This pokemon was essential because I realized I didn't have a defogger. Nor did I have a check to Poison types or raging Dragon types.
Latias provides great overall synergy to the team and packs a punch with Draco Meteor and Psyshock.
Her speed is quite high in the OU tier and outspeeds many opponents.
Roost provides necessary regenerative powers in order to properly run this set.
To top it off we just add a Life Orb and ta-da!
SATAN IN THE FORM OF A DRAGON HAS APPEARED
Latias @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 72 HP / 148 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Draco Meteor
- Roost
- Psyshock
Leave a comment with HELPFUL comments please and feel free to point out mistakes or utter failures on my part!
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Unaware
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Def / 8 SpD
Bold Nature
- Flamethrower

- Wish
