Does substitute block the side effect of a move? Ex..:

Mismagius used Substitute
Pikachu used Thunder

scenario: the sub is broken, can it be para?
scneario 2: the sub isnt broken, can it be para?

this works with crunch lowering def, etc i guess too

Subs stop status effects, so I'm going to assume that something like thunder wave, in its programing, is a move with 0 power, and 100% of para, under that notion I'm going to assume, no, on both counts, since its the sub taking the damage, not as an after effect of the damage.
 
Is it wrong to hack for a Shaymin? My friend has AR, and I REALLY want to use the flowery hedgehog on my team, but if I use it on Wi-Fi, people won't wanna play against me because it'll be kinda obvious that I had to hack SOMETHING to get a Shaymin...And I don't want Ninetndo to delete my game.

Yes and no.
Wait for Shaymin to be relased and then go get him. Unless you have a specific need for a grass type, just be happy with a celibi.

If you hack the item, but not the poke, it's refered as the poke being semi ligit, and that is perfectly fine on smogon.


QUESTION FOR SOMEONE: if you rest than use sleep talk, and it picks the move snore, does snore work? will it even select snore?
 
i would think so.... But why would you have snore and sleep talk on one moveset? Thats three move slots already, counting rest.

Its an interesting idea, but your right, its overly redundant....I cant think of a time I would want sleep talk and snore on the same move set...I think if that one tried to test it game freak just might come to their house and kidnap their game and their grandmother.
 
I know that weather abilities go in priority of whoever is slower, but what happens if one of the pokes is scarf'd, but the other has a higher speed? ie scarf kyogre @ 279 speed vs jolly groudon @ 306 speed, whose weather ability takes effect?

the slower ones abilitiy pursists.
 
What determines what color a Shellos hatches in? Is it the color of the female, male? If both parents are different colors is it random?

the female color is the color the they will become. If you use ditto, they will always be pink :P

Depends.

Gallade is an underrated powerhouse, with close combat dealing more damage than Medicham High Jump Kick on the average. (Remember, HJK is only 90% accurate). Granted, HJK is stronger if it hits... but regardless, we're talking about some major power here.

Gallade can take special hits pretty well, so I can see HP EVs helping you switch into Sp. attacks.

Speed is always important also, and Gallade may want to max out speed and Jolly nature to outspeed Adamant Heracross...

So it depends on your team, and what you want gallade to do.

Well, Strype McClaine pretty much covered it, but one more thing. Substitute does block things like Intimidate and Leech Seed. There are very few things that actually go through subs... taunt is probably the most dangerous, but double-hit and similar moves also go through if they break the sub on the first hit.
 
I mentioned this in another thread but have no idea if it works or not, someone said it didn't but I was hoping for confirmation.



If a Crawdaunt with Hyper Cutter uses Super-power, does the Crawdaunts attack go down after it uses it?
 
^I think you messed with the names xp

Yes, the attack drop will happen. Hyper Cutter, Clear Body and White Smoke only blocks stat reduction made by the opponent.
