So I been messing around with a fairly Bulky Offensive team right now. So far, I been enjoying it, but am suffering some glaring weaknesses that can easily be exploited and feel this can be polished more.
Heatran (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Flash Cannon
- Lava Plume
I went with a high offensive Rock Setter set. The 252 Speed investments can catch people off guard. Lava Plume as its the fairly standard STAB move with his high chance of burn. Earth Power to KO opposing Heatran. Flash Cannon so I can deal with Fairy types, this this walls pretty well. I am considering of swapping it for more defensive spreads, so it isn't as prone to being 1HKO but super effective moves.
Venusaur (M) @ Venusaurite
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 232 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 20 Spe
Modest Nature
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Leech Seed
- Synthesis
The Mega-Evolution of the team. Mega-Venusaur is an epitome of the type of Pokemon I strive for. Being able to take a beating, while being able to hit back for a fairly respectable amount of damage. I was considering of using HP Fire in place of Leech Seed, but as I am also running Sand on this team, I thought it might of been better to have that second source of healing to take care of residual damage from the Sand.
Azumarill @ Assault Vest
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 240 HP / 252 Atk / 16 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Superpower
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
Went with a Bulky Assault Vest set, as I wanted a Bulky Offensive water type. I was considering Manaphy at first, but decided with Amumarill as it can wall Dragon types, which are fairly prominent and everywhere. The move set is Fairly standard, with Superpower to help smash Steel types that attempt to switch in.
Scizor @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- U-turn
- Knock Off
- Defog
- Bullet Punch
The Defog and Pivot of my team. I originally had a Choice Band, but decided to swap it out for a Life Orb, as I wanted to use Scizor as my Defogger. Originally, I had Latias as that role, but I been finding situations where I could not safely switch her in to Defog and as she was also my only real big sweeper I had, it felt too risky to lose my largest offensive presence to Defog. I am considering of swapping out 1 Pokemon for another Pivot to run alongside this, but unsure as to what.
Kyurem-Black @ Life Orb
Ability: Teravolt
EVs: 20 Atk / 252 SpA / 236 Spe
Mild Nature
- Ice Beam
- Earth Power
- Fusion Bolt
- Roost
The main sweeper of my team. Originally, as I mentioned beforehand, I had Latias as this role, as well as a Defogger, but been running into issues of being able to safely use her Defog and keep her healthy enough for Sweeping. I have been considering of using a Substitute set over the Life Orb set, for a bit more longevity.
Tyranitar (M) @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sand Stream
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 80 Def / 180 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Crunch
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Earthquake
Lastly, my Pursuit Trapper. Assault Vest is not a common choice, I know, but I wanted to experiment with it a little bit. With the 50% SpD bonus in the Sand on top of the 50% bonus from the Vest, he can take a huge beating from special attackers, and when healthy enough, also be able to tank Focus Blasts aimed at it. I have been considering using Choice Scarf instead, but didn't really like having to lock myself into a single move with the fairly wide coverage I have.
Weaknesses:
So far, some weaknesses I found while playing:
Flying Types: Although I do have Heatran and Tyranitar to tank them, I lack much coverage for them outside of Kyruem's Fusion Bolt and Tyranitar's Stone Edge.
Fast Offensive Sweepers: As most of my Pokemon are on the lower end of the spectrum in terms of Speed, I am very easily revenge killed and prone to taking big hits.
Excadrill: As I am running Sand, it hurts when the opponent has an Excadrill with Sand Rush, using my own Sand against me. My only real potential checks for it is my Heatran and his Lava Plume and Azumarill. Heatran will most likely be unable to survive at all, and Azumarill would have to rely on getting a good hit off Aqua Jet to really put the pain on it.
