ORAS PU Wet Offence

Hi all guys, it's time to build a team for the PU tier, one of the lowest tier, but one of the funniest.

Ani026MS5.gif
Ani055MS5.gif

All started from the core Raichu+Golduck. They have a great type coverage and under the rain,with them, I can count on a 100% accuracy Thunder and on a fantastic sweeper like Golduck and his Hydro Pump.
Ani369MS5.gif
Ani313MS5.gif
Ani614MS5.gif

Then I choosed my setters. One of them is Golduck itself, while the others are Relicanth and Volbeat.
This 4 pokemon have a great synergy. Volbeat set the Rain via Prankster, giving the opportunity to other members to sweep, he can take grass-, earth- and fighting- moves for other members while Relicanth can take flying- and fire- moves too. Moreover he can set the stealths also. The circle was complete with Beartic, a powerful physical sweeper under the rain with a great priority too.
Ani581MS5.gif

Finally I choosed Swanna for a lot of reasons: he can bait electric types for Raichu, he can defog, he can rest and wake up in a moment thanks to the rain, and finally he can take grass- moves and return with a powerful 100% accuracy Hurricane.

MOVESETS:
Sprxym026.gif

Raichu (M) @ Life Orb
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder
- Surf
- Focus Blast
- Volt Switch

Nothing to say. Thanks to Lightning Rod he can raise his SpAtk and make serious damage with his Thunder. Surf and Focus Blast are for coverage (the first is also boosted under the rain), while volt switch is always good.
Sprxym055.gif

Golduck (F) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Rain Dance
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Psyshock

Damp Rock to increase the duration of the rain, but i consider a Life Orb too. A standard set with Psyshock to hit special walls.
Sprxymsh369.gif

Relicanth (F) @ Damp Rock
Ability: Swift Swim
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Rain Dance
- Stealth Rock
- Waterfall
- Stone Edge

I am not sure of the evs spread, I'd like one more defensive. I tried to max both the defences but then i was too slow despite the rain. Btw, standard set with Stone Edge>Rock Smash to avoid the recoil.
Sprxymsh313.gif

Volbeat @ Damp Rock
Ability: Prankster
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Rain Dance
- Toxic
- Encore
- U-turn

I preferred to max his SpDef instead of his Def because there is Relicanth with a good Def stat yet.
Standard moves but i preferred Toxic>Thunder Wave because under the rain I should not need to paralyze to outspeed my opponents, more I have Raichu with his Thunder that can spread paralysis sometimes.
Sprxym614.gif

Beartic (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Icicle Crash
- Superpower
- Aqua Jet

Huge power after a SDance, STAB and Superpower hit hard all pokemon, while Aqua Jet is also boosted by the rain.
Sprxymsh581.gif

Swanna (F) @ Life Orb
Ability: Hydration
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Defog
- Rest
- Scald
- Hurricane
I really like this last pokemon. With his ability he can refull his life with Rest and don't fall asleep.
He also provide the Defog support for Beartic, Raichu and Volbeat. All is complete with two powerful STABs.

So this is the team. I hope that u will give me a lot of advices to improve it.

Thanks in advance and, as always, sorry for the English

Hi Savoir37, nice to see a rain team here n_n

The team looks good and I cannot see too many big weaknesses, though I do think some sets could be tweaked. Firstly, I strongly recommend Life Orb on Golduck, as it makes it significantly harder to wall, which helps it when sweeping, for example:
252+ SpA Life Orb Golduck Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Eviolite Roselia: 250-296 (82.2 - 97.3%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
252+ SpA Golduck Psyshock vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Eviolite Roselia: 192-228 (63.1 - 75%) -- guaranteed 2HKO
Life orb puts Roselia in range of Psyshock if it switches in on a Hydro Pump or even just Stealth Rocks. Next, I think Thunder Wave is a more important move for Volbeat than Toxic, as opposing weather sweepers like Swift Swim Golduck's gives the team big issues as not much can take a hit from it in the rain. Additionatlly, I think you should try Sturdy on Relicanth as you will guarantee Rain up turn 1, as opponents may try to counter lead you and prevent you from getting up Rain immediately.

I don't think Swanna is the best choice on this team, as although it can fire off strong hurricanes, there could be better use of another Water-type slot. I think should run Physical Floatzel over Swanna, as not only does it get a Swift Swim boost, but it can also lure many of Golducks checks like Politoed and Lapras. Additionally, its strong priority helps your team a lot vs other priority users such as Murkrow, which can do a lot to your team with Sucker Punch and its coverage. Lastly, you might want to try Icicle Plate on Beartic, as it really likes the power boost, leftovers doesn't do too much for it, and Life Orb would wear it down very quickly.

Golduck
Damp Rock ---> Life Orb

Relicanth
Swift Swim ---> Sturdy

Beartic
Leftovers ---> Life Orb

Floatzel @ Life Orb
Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Waterfall
- Ice Punch
- Aqua Jet
- Return

Hope I helped!

Hi Savoir37, nice to see a rain team here n_n

Hi Anty and thank you for the rate :D
Serious the posted rain teams are few? I thought that the PU was one of the best tier for the rain D:

BTW

Mmm, even if I like the 8 turns rain Ill try life orb on Golduck, he sets the rain for himself, so 5 turns should be enough.

For Thunder Wave... I'm trying Volbeat with both moves, alternating them, but sometimes when I have Toxic I need Thunder Wave and vice versa D:
Serious, the choice of this move is very situational...

I usually choose first Relicanth when I'm quite sure that I can use first Rain Dance and then Stealth Rock or a STAB, but I think if I use Sturdy I have not the speed to do this and after one attack Relicanth can faint fast, with a priority for example... I'll try this but until now Swift Swim on him has been great.

I'll be honest, I'll try some game with Floatzel because u interested me with his set, but I'm really loving this pokemon. Serious, I never considered him for nothing, but under the rain he is impressive, expecially when I send him in battlefield with 7 turn of rain yet, a lot of time to sweep, heal with rest, wake up at the end of the turn and continue to sweep.

Finally, I saw that life orb on Beartic is not good because I have no way to refull HP, that's why I choosed Leftovers. But now I'm thinking to another item, the Expert Belt... What about it?

Looking through calcs I cannot see any notable KOs it gets at +2 with ebelt (as a super effective hit from that high attack should do a lot), though unboosted the only big differences from what I've calced is vs Relicanth and Monferno (in rain). Though it is nice to do more, Icicle Plate has benefits like doing more to Machoke and Grumpig at +2, almost KOing them, and at +2 you can KO frailer Ice resists like Floatzel with Icicle Crash so you don't have to use Superpower. Ultimately both can work, but personally I prefer Icicle Plate

Hi there Savior37, nice team you have here, always nice to see some solid rain.

To begin with, I'm going to have to agree with Anty that you should change Damp Rock --> Life Orb on Golduck, which gives you much needed power for some extra KOs as mentioned above. I also agree that you should change Toxic --> Thunder Wave on Volbeat, which is very helpful for crippling faster Pokemon like Ninjask and scarfers that outspeed Beartic, whereas Toxic is only really helpful for the bulkier Pokemon that you already take on fine. You should also change Swift Swim --> Sturdy and Stone Edge --> Head Smash on Relicanth, which almost fully guarantees you get up rain or Stealth Rock then use Head Smash to prevent opposing Rapid Spin or Defog after you use Stealth Rock. I'm also going to recommend you change Leftovers --> Life Orb on Beartic, which gives you much needed KOs such as:

+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Beartic Superpower vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Relicanth: 398-471 (98.7 - 116.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock
+2 252+ Atk Beartic Superpower vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Relicanth: 306-362 (75.9 - 89.8%) -- 18.8% chance to OHKO after Stealth Rock

or

+2 252+ Atk Life Orb Beartic Icicle Crash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gourgeist-Super: 439-523 (117.3 - 139.8%) -- guaranteed OHKO
+2 252+ Atk Beartic Icicle Crash vs. 252 HP / 252+ Def Gourgeist-Super: 338-402 (90.3 - 107.4%) -- 43.8% chance to OHKO

Lastly, since you're very weak to Electric- and Water-types such as Raichu and Floatzel outside of Rain, I'm going to recommend you switch Swanna --> Gogoat, which not only gives you some extra bulk and an added check to the Pokemon I mentioned, but also an extra win condition, which is always nice.

tl;dr

golduck.gif

Damp Rock --> Life Orb

volbeat.gif

Toxic --> Thunder Wave

relicanth.gif

Swift Swim --> Sturdy
Stone Edge --> Head Smash

beartic.gif

Leftovers --> Life Orb

gogoat.gif

Gogoat @ Leftovers | Sap Sipper
228 HP / 48 Atk / 232 SpD | Careful
Bulk Up / Horn Leech / Earthquake / Milk Drink

Hope I helped :toast:

Ok so to recap:
- Life Orb > Damp Rock on Golduck;
- Thunder Wave>Toxic on Volbeat;
- Sturdy > Swift Swin on Relicanth, even if with Swift Swin he is really doing well I'll make some game with Sturdy;
- Icicle Plate/Life Orb > Leftovers on Beartic;
- Floatzel/Gogoat > Swanna, serious, this could be considered my fav pokemon of the team, but no one like him D:

Lol, the only good pokemon is Raichu... and I thought that everyone would answer me to change him with Zebstrika D:

BTW thanks for the rating m8s, I'll try later, now I'm building another team lol
