Sweden 2 games played, 0 shots on target. How bad is this side?

Oh, since I didn't watch the Italy games ( only the last few minutes vs Sweden ), how did Conte set up the team? Might give a hint on the new Chelsea side. Probably boring defensive football since it's Italy byt would like to be sure.

It's set up the same way his Juventus team was, a 3-5-2 with very energetic wingbacks to provide width, it isn't defensive, Italy is boring because the team lacks creative players, not because of the system.

How did Croatia dominate that much, yet fuck it up against a really poor Czech team? They looked so strong, particularly first half, I look forward to the Croatia Spain game to see if they can play that well against a better quality of opposition

Spain looking real good against Turkey there, especially Nolito and Iniesta. Turkey though were extremely poor, a non-existent defensive performance especially from Mehmet Topal. Was sad to see Arda Turan getting booed though. Sure he was a ghost but the entire Turkish side didn't show up.

Well, now Belgium is starting to play more like Belgium.

In other news, Hungary will advance if they beat Iceland today. Never thought I'd say that.

Good thing Wilmots decided to start Thomas Meunier at right back, was thinking he would considering he's a far better option than Ciman in that position.

Yay the USA plays argentina in the Copa centenario. Well it was fun while it lasted

With Messi in such form, I don't expect the US to beat Argentina.

Meanwhile, Ronaldo be like " The match may have ended 0-0 but in my mind I had a hattrick and Portugal won 5-0. "( modified quote from a previous interview )

Yeah and considering argentina can use him like a super sub like they did against panama and bolivia, our lucky streak ends here.

Ronaldo is like Kim jong il during the 2010 world cup in his mind right now

Spain looked nowhere near the best team.
few teams could beat them, Italy and England seem to be the teams that can exploit the weaknesses Croatia did.

What a turnaround, Spain went from looking like the best team in the tournament to being defeated by a Croatian side without Modric, along with Mandzukic and Strinic on the bench.

Honestly, I don't even think Spain looked bad, it's just that Croatia played an amazing game. Modric's definitely a big loss, but Mandzukic/Strinic not so much, as Kalinic and Vrsaljko are just as good or even better depending on what their team needs.

I liked Croatia in their previous two games, but giving them a closer look today, it really impressed me how good they're positionally, the team is extremely good at pressing the ball high up the pitch and gegenpressing, while also being able to sit deep and remain compact both horizontally and vertically. Really impressive stuff, and considering their offensive and creative talent, Croatia looks like an elite team. Also, winning the group means Croatia is going to be on the 'easy' bracket, so they're definitely a favorite to reach the final.

Oh also, I think the main problem Spain had today was that the fullbacks were exhausted. Juanfran and Alba are crucial to both the attack and defense of the team, and they haven't had any rest, in comparison to Croatia's fullbacks that either rotated (Vrsaljko) or are able to get some rest during games (Srna usually attacks, but he isn't forced to do it all the time)

Imo the first-half was alright with Spain being the better side as Croatia didn't press them on the ball and Silva being troublemaker to Croatia. Without Modric, Croatia didn't see much of the ball and rely on Perisic, Kalinic and Rakitic to attack. The first goal for Croatia right before half-time set the tune of the game in the second half (sure, Juanfran and Ramos could have done better but imo it was a great piece of teamplay) as it allowed the Croats to gain confidence. You can see it when Spain just couldn't live with the Croats and only good luck prevented Croatia from getting the lead until late on when Perisic somehow beat De Gea.

This result also places many so-called big teams in the same half as each other.

Was so hyped for the USA game and then Argentina scores three minutes in, RIP the dream

EDIT: Holy fuck the Messi free kick what a monster who am I kidding we never had a chance :pirate:
