Quick Introduction
Start out with a little about myself... I was previously a DPP player and played for the beginning of 5th gen. Was able to peak at number 1 spots on shoddy and PO back in the day. Was talking to some friends about the old competitive play days and it caused some nostalgia so I decided to play some again. Needless to say I'm definitely rusty and out of tune with the current metagame due to me not playing in years! My knowledge of 6th gen and the current OU metagame is not nearly the same level my knowledge I used to have is. However, feeling eager to get back into the swing of things and learn my way around a bit. As far as the team goes I borrowed a friends team to play a few games with just to get a feel and decided to go ahead and make my own team. Typically I made all my teams on my own and tested on my own and steered clear of RMT's for the most part, but unfortunately I am no where near where I need to be in order to do that. So here I am with what's probably a lacking team that could improve greatly but none of the less I decided to form a team starting with one of the zard megas because playing the few games with my friend's team and seeing smogon's counter list for it has no hard counters, it seemed to be a decent start. i'e only tested the team a couple times so far but seems to be alright. Enough for the introduction.. Let's get right into the team!

A Closer Look

charizard-mega-y.gif
Charizard @ Charizardite Y
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Fire Blast
- Solar Beam
- Focus Blast
- Roost

Like I said in my introduction I wanted to include charizard in the mix. Utilized a pretty standard set that was posted on smogon much like all will be due to me returning fresh. FBlast is used as STAB to hit anything hard that may switch in. Solar beam gets to be used without a charge due to drought and it allows me to take things out such as slowbro, rotom-w, swampert, along with crippling mixed typing pokemon. Focus blast was utilized to put solid damage into chansey, heatran, t-tar, and various others. Roost is of course being used to heal up if I do happen to take rock damge or residual damage from sand or priority moves that won't damage zard too much. Typically I take a look at the opponents team to see what zard can do. He's either used as an early game wall breaker and to put dents into their team or I save him until the end for a late game sweeper after the rest of my pokemon take out anything that could halt my sweep. Of course if it applies he comes in here and there. I love using it to prevent mege Saelee leads from getting things set up. Pretty much has the role of tearing holes into whatever the other team decides to send out. Not too many things counter charizard too well if used properly and put in at the right and I try to use that to the best of my abilities.

latios.gif

Latios @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Psyshock
- Roost
- Defog

First thing I knew I needed after starting with a charizard was something to get rid of stealth rocks. I chose to go with latios to keep an offensive theme but also be able to use defog to clear those for zard. I considered running with starmie but i decided the ground immunity would be needed. Latios is my best check to keldeo or rotom-w. Latios gives me the ability to safely switch in on predicted earthquakes and put some damage into things with a draco meteor or defog any hazards. Went with life orb to give myself some extra damage.

weavile.gif

Weavile @ Life Orb
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Icicle Crash
- Ice Shard
- Low Kick

Weavile was the next choice on the team for the main reason of taking out pokemon like latias and latios. Also can serve as a decent option to take out a chansey. Weavile serves as a utility to wear and tear down the team. Knock off slowly takes out pokemon's items so their user can't use them to their max potential. Knocking off choice items not only reveals what set they are running but it weakens their gameplan overall. It prevents stall from being as efficient by knocking off any leftovers. Also serves as a great revenge killer with already great speed paired with priority in ice shard. A common switch in is ferrothorn which I can often times predict and get a safe switch to zard to start terrorizing the enemy.

heatran.gif

Heatran @ Leftovers
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Lava Plume
- Toxic
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock

Needed a solid stealth rocker so I decided to go with heatran since he not only is able to take all fire damage including wisps for me, but he is alsoa perfect option for taking out ferrothorn, skarmory, scizor, celebi, klefki, and others without using zard. Heatran can also stop stall with the ability to taunt as well as get some residual damage in with toxic. Gives me valuable resists at the same time.

azumarill.gif

Azumarill @ Choice Band
Ability: Huge Power
EVs: 172 HP / 252 Atk / 84 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Waterfall
- Aqua Jet
- Superpower

Needed a physical powerhouse on the team and nothing seemed to fit better than an azumarill with perfect typing to synergize with the rest of the team. Switches into an azumarill are usually very predictably so I can make easy double switches to put myself in the driving seat and gain momentum. Things like landorus excadrill MDiancie are destroyed by azumarill's stab attacks. Aqua jet gives me the ability to come in and pick off things that have already been weakened.

thundurus.gif

Thundurus @ Life Orb
Ability: Prankster
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunder Wave
- Thunderbolt
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Focus Blast

Lastly I added thundurus to the mix. Honestly I wasn't too sure what to add. I wanted something that could volt swtich or uturn but couldn't find a good way to add it to the mix. Chose thundurus cause it gave me helpful typing along with the ability to prankster twave o slow anything down that could outspeed zard. Gives me an extra threat to skarms aswell as being able to take out various water types. HP ice gives me coverage for ground pokemon that like to switch in. Focus blast rounds out the set to be able to attack steel types.

Conclusion
Overall I am aware that the team probably isn't all too well put together. I am completely open to change to whatever may work better. I do not have a full understanding of the metagame. So far the largest threat to the team has been scarftar. Don't really have much to check him. I'd like to build this team into a good baseline team to get me accustomed to the game until I can make a proper dominant team. Really appreciate any advice ahead of time... Thank you and hope you enjoyed the team

For someone just getting into generation 6, this is a REALLY nice Team, but there's a way it could be much better. I have nothing against Weavile, but there is a pokemon similar to it that pairs perfectly with Charizard Y. And that pokemon is Tyranitar.
Personally, I would swap Weavile for Tyranitar.
Banded Tyranitar + M-Charizard-Y is one of the most potent offensive core in the meta right now. Tyranitar can easily pursuit trap Latios and Latias, two of the only pokemon Charizard Y can't kill, and eliminate them for Charizard to sweep. Its also good at checking birds like Talonflame wuth its rocks typing. However, you already have Banded Azumarill on your team. It works incredibly well with the other pokemon on your team so I opted not to swap it, choosing to go with scarfed Tyranitar instead. Scarfed Tyranitar can still pursuit trap and kill the Lati twins, but it can also outspeed them, hitting a speed of 364. Not only does it make killing them easier, it also allows you to kill birds like Thundurus, Mega Charizard Y, and even Mega Pinsr by out speeding them. Most people expect Banded Tyranitar, so it also works for the suprise factor as well.

And that's pretty much the only change I had to make. Your team utilizes a bunch of nice and powerful pokemon, and has good synergy as well. You just need to learn the meta, and you'll surely get better. Good luck to you on the ladder!

Your Team looks pretty good. The only thing i can think of that would give you a hard time (Besides scarf T-Tar like you said) Might be the Volt-Turn core of Mega-Manectric and LAndorus-Therian but Azumarill can do a pretty good job of dealing with it by using Aquajet+waterfall to wear them down alongside the Stealth Rocks. One last thing I know speed creeping is important sometimes but i would personaly give the Speed Evs on Azumarill to its HP just so it can tank more hits from mons (Such as Scarf Ttar) But yeah so far yout team looks pretty good ( ▀ ͜͞ʖ▀)

Thanks for some feedback. When i was originally thinking about the team Ttar was definitely in my thoughts to pursuit trap. Honestly i don't even remember why i opted to go with weavile instead. I'll definitely try out scarftar for this team. Thanks again i'll see if it makes a difference!

Any changes you might think could be beneficial to help with the VoltTurn combo? I'll mess around with moving the speed evs to hp and see what that does for me. Thanks a lot

So, first things first you do need a rapid spinner since this is a mega charizard Y team stealth rocks can ruin your entire battle. I suggest switching out heatran to Excadrill air balloon.
Second, Choice band on Azumarill might be too predictable for other people so i think an assault vest could fit in your team well.
Third, triple life orb is a bad idea, keep on weavile switch latios to soul dew, focus sash on Thunderus.
Also just for future help if your going to do doubles change focus blast to heat wave.

If you have any questions about the rate just message me and i will gladly answer, I love the format of the thread btw if this is your first time bravo.

If I have defog latios why is a spinner necessary? Almost positive soul dew is banned in OU... Also through the small amount of testing I've done I have not found it too needed for thunderus to possibly need a sash. He has never been OHKO. Thank you for the tips. May give some a try

Wait, did you really suggest Soul Dew Latios? On an OU Team?

Also, Tyranitar can deal with Mega Manectric if you have problems with that.

I forgot soul dew was banned you don't have to be a jerk about it.

It's just that your entire rate feels really shoddy. You saw latios and yet you didn't realize it knows defog, you didn't post sets, and focus sash Thundurus isn't viable since Thundurus only has 2 weaknesses and is too fast to viably run sash. I just feel like you really didn't put any effort into your rate, no offense.
