Smogon Breeding Program....

I'd join week 4, as I mentioned having a week 4 back when I was still in double digits w/ posting.
In terms of dittos, however, I only have two that are of any use ATM.

i thought it was a rather ingenius idea personally.

the problem i have with it, is people scamming the program. it happens like this: i have an amazing koffing. it will take me less than 100 eggs to get another great one. now i spend about an hour or so breeding, have a koffing to show for all of you, and will collect on everyone else's full week of breeding while i chug along with my own stuff.

also, at this point in the game, many people already have most of the standards anyway, so it's fairly difficult for someone like me to find it worthwhile now because i already have great individuals from 80% of the species.

i think it's a strong thing for those that can really benefit, but it had admittable flaws that i cannot see any way around.

The breeding program was crap. You hatched something, then you had to give it to numerous other people for stuff you prob'ly don't even want? Who wants to do that? that and it never really worked. There are lots of people who even now bump week 1 saying they never got their pokemon.

It was a good tool for people who didn't have many pokemon to start off with. I know I started off by breeding my Abra (yay quadruple flawless!), and for that I got really helpful other things like Dugtrio, Swampert, Gliscor, and Specsmance. I mean, having 'tiers' of pokemon to breed (as in, OU week, UU week ect) would be a better idea because then you would get a pokemon you could almost always use in the metagame.

another important note: cloning. with people needing 25 copies of their pokemon, cloners seemed to come in and walk out with at least a few copies of pokemon from the program... kind of a blow to the "exclusiveness" of the program at the time.

I agree with Anti on this, You'll end up breeding this amazing pokemon and you'll end up getting pokes you don't want. By just creating you're own poke and placing it, in you're own trade thread, anyone that wants your pokemon you can at least get whatever you want in exchange.

Only way i can see this working as instead of breeding the best pokemon, is to breed novelty pokemons like a quadruple 0 iv's :D

There will definitely be some cloners in the program..

Imo it's good to set up people who are newer to the game who can breed. In all the breeding programs, 70% of all the stuff bred was OU's. I'm all for getting like 20 new pokemon, that's sweet, but when you've already been trading and have like 5 boxes of OU you don't need / want any more forced upon you. get what I mean?

Imo it's good to set up people who are newer to the game who can breed. In all the breeding programs, 70% of all the stuff bred was OU's. I'm all for getting like 20 new pokemon, that's sweet, but when you've already been trading and have like 5 boxes of OU you don't need / want any more forced upon you. get what I mean?

Then you just don't enter, and wait for your favourite theme/tier...

At least that's what I would do.

Having a different tier thing would be cool, because yeah - I already have most of the OUs and wouldn't want duplicates.

I don't think it should be for "25 handpicked trustworthy breeders", I think it should be for newer people who don't have much. The good breeders here already have/have the capability to trade for most of what they want, not to mention they may already have a lot of the stuff bred in the program. Why deny it to the people who need it the most? It's also dumb to consider letting these pokes outside the program, it's like saying "don't worry if you don't join, you will be able to get them anyways because they'll be as commonplace as plust's Chansey"

True but people can just say they bred something and are new and basically get free pokemon. They should be trustworthy. And cloning should be discussed, we should have some people who clone our pokes that are trustworthy as well and not just some random. And no Pokesaving at all.
