LC Pikipek

QC checks: Corporal Levi, OP, Fiend
GP checks: CryoGyro, The Dutch Plumberjack

[OVERVIEW]

At first glance, Pikipek may seem an underwhelming choice; it boasts overall mediocre stats, has almost nonexistent defenses, and does not have many coverage options. Secondly, there are stronger Flying-types like Doduo, Archen, and Rufflet that can work better than Pikipek, which has to rely on Brave Bird and Life Orb to deal significant damage, meaning that it will constantly lose its HP in the process; this combined with a weakness to Stealth Rock makes it difficult for Pikipek to be efficient. However, Pikipek carves itself a small niche that makes it truly shine and, more importantly, it doesn't share with any other Flying-type Pokemon in LC: access to Bullet Seed and Skill Link, meaning that it can remove Rock-types with ease, even Sturdy + Berry Juice ones. It also sports respectable Attack and Speed stats, letting it deal a solid amount of damage with its STAB or coverage moves and outspeed Pokemon such as Pawniard and Rufflet with ease. While far from being the premier LC Flying-type, Pikipek can prove to be a good pick on teams searching a way to beat opposing leads and check a good number of Rock- and Water-types.

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Brave Bird is the main move Pikipek should be using, as it is a powerful STAB move that severely dents anything neutral to Flying and has a good chance to OHKO Timburr and Foongus. Skill Link Bullet Seed is what sets Pikipek apart from other Flying-types, allowing it to do a huge amount of damage to typical Flying-type checks such as Chinchou, Onix, and Shell Smash users such as Tirtouga and Omanyte. For the third moveslot, Brick Break is the prime choice because it can heavily damage Pawniard and Steel-types in general, which resist both Brave Bird and Bullet Seed; however, Drill Peck can be used as a more conservative STAB option when Pikipek's health is low. Finally, U-turn is used to gain momentum and works very well with Pikipek's boosted Speed.

Set Details
========

Maximum Attack investment is required in order to boost Pikipek's offensive presence, as without it, Pikipek may be in a difficult position when attempting to clean or damage the opposing team. Maximum Speed is also necessary, as it gives Pikipek the ability to outspeed Pokemon such as Jolly Choice Scarf Pawniard, +1 Jolly Scraggy, and Modest Choice Scarf Chinchou. Finally, 36 HP EVs are used to enable Pikipek to switch into Stealth Rock four times, not considering Brave Bird's recoil, and allow it to spam Brave Bird a bit more. Choice Scarf boosts Pikipek's Speed to a very high level, outspeeding base 60 Speed Pokemon with a positive nature and a Choice Scarf like Pawniard. A Jolly nature should typically be chosen, because it allows Pikipek to outspeed 16 Speed Choice Scarf users such as Jolly Pawniard and Jolly Rufflet and Speed tie with 17 Speed Choice Scarf users like Jolly Mienfoo and Timid Chinchou, which is a notable benchmark. An Adamant nature is viable as well, since it significantly improves the chances of OHKOing Timburr and Foongus; however, Pikipek will only Speed tie with Pawniard and Rufflet and get outsped by Timid Chinchou and Jolly Mienfoo, making it the inferior choice.

Usage Tips
========

Choice Scarf Pikipek should be brought in early in the match, as it can be useful to gain momentum against the opposing lead, or to eliminate the opposing lead itself with Bullet Seed (in Onix's case) or severely dent it with a Brave Bird (in Mienfoo's case). U-turn or coverage moves should be used when a switch is predicted. Remember that Choice Scarf Pikipek is not going to punch huge holes in the opposing team; it should be played with "hit-and-run" tactics, with frequent switches out or U-turn uses, unless the opponent lacks a way to stop Pikipek; in that case, just spam Brave Bird or Bullet Seed on frail and slower enemies. Pikipek applies a large amount of pressure on its checks when it's paired with other powerful Flying-types such as Archen and Vullaby; the aforementioned partners can severely weaken the Flying-type checks, leaving Pikipek free to pick them all off.

Team Options
========

A powerful Ground-type is a nice partner for Pikipek, as Pikipek suffers from the presence of Electric- and Steel-types; it also suffers from Rock-types, but Bullet Seed is almost always a good answer to them. Both Diglett and Drilbur can be helpful because they check Electric- and Steel-types like Pawniard, Magnemite, and in Mold Breaker Drilbur's case, Bronzor. Diglett can trap Magnemite and Pawniard, proceed to KO them with Earthquake, and set up Stealth Rock; on the other hand, Drilbur can set up Stealth Rock, remove the entry hazard from Pikipek's side of the field, and OHKO Magnemite with Sturdy thanks to Mold Breaker. Chinchou makes for a fine partner, because it has interesting type synergy with Pikipek; Chinchou can absorb Electric-type moves and resists Ice-type attacks, while Pikipek comes in on Ground-type moves and easily removes Grass-types. Pikipek has no real chance against Gastly if locked in Bullet Seed or Brick Break, and can't do anything at all to Honedge; this makes Choice Scarf Pawniard an excellent teammate for Pikipek, since it can trap both of these Ghost-types with Pursuit. In exchange, Pikipek is immune to the Ground-type moves that scare Pawniard away. Alolan Grimer plays a similar role, but it can run an Eviolite set to wall and trap Gastly by resisting both its STAB, and trap Honedge without fearing a Sacred Sword too much. Finally, when paired with Nasty Plot Vullaby, Pikipek forms a powerful Flying-type core that uses both physical and special attacks, which weakens their shared checks.

move 2: Bullet Seed
move 3: Brick Break / Flame Charge

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Brave Bird is a STAB option that packs a lot of power; however, in conjunction with Life Orb, it cuts Pikipek's HP very quickly. Drill Peck, on the other hand, is a less aggressive STAB option that preserves Pikipek's HP but is significantly weaker. Bullet Seed is a must, since it is a spectacular Grass-type coverage move against many Water- and Rock-types, notably OHKOing Onix and Tirtouga (even through Solid Rock), and deals an enormous amount of damage to Chinchou. As further coverage, Brick Break hits Pawniard very hard, OHKOing it even through Eviolite; on the other hand, Flame Charge boosts Pikipek's Speed, turning it into a potent sweeper once its checks and priority users are removed from the battle. Substitute is an interesting option that can be used as a reliable way to bypass Sucker Punch from Pawniard; it also protects Pikipek from status moves like Will-O-Wisp and Thunder Wave. Finally, U-turn can be used as well because Pikipek hits 17 Speed, outpacing many Pokémon and gaining momentum; it also does chip damage.

Set Details
========

The given EVs spread is used to maximize Pikipek's Speed and Attack. Fully invested Speed with a Jolly nature allows Pikipek to hit 17 Speed, which let it outpace many Pokemon sitting at 16 Speed, such as Jolly Pawniard and Jolly Rufflet; note that Pikipek will still Speed tie with Jolly Onix, and Jolly Mienfoo. The leftover 36 EVs are put into Defense to turn a guaranteed OHKO from Life Orb Jolly Pawniard Sucker Punch into a 56% chance to OHKO; they also reduce the amount of damage taken by Pikipek from other priority users, such as Timburr and Corphish. 10 HP IVs make Pikipek hit 19 HP, turning Life Orb recoil from 2 HP per move to 1 HP per move. Life Orb boosts Pikipek's damage output significantly, OHKOing Timburr and Foongus much more often.

Usage Tips
========

This set can be used in the first turns of the match to gain momentum against opposing leads; however, keep in mind that Jolly Pikipek Speed ties with Jolly non-Choice Scarf Mienfoo and, more dangerously, with Jolly Onix. Pikipek can work more efficiently when priority users (specifically Pawniard) and faster Electric- and Rock-types (including Choice Scarf Chinchou and Archen) are removed from the field. When using Pikipek, prediction is essential; even though Brave Bird or Drill Peck should be the move to spam the most, Bullet Seed should be used when a Chinchou or Rock-type switch-in is predicted, since it has a very high chance to KO speedy variants of Chinchou, while Brick Break or Flame Charge should be used only when it's obvious that a Steel-type is entering the battlefield or when the opponent struggles to deal with a +1 Speed Pikipek.

Team Options
========

Diglett traps and removes Steel-, Electric-, and Rock-types, opening some holes for Pikipek; its Stealth Rock also helps turn 2HKOs into OHKOs. In a similar way, Drilbur can break through Electric- and Rock-types as well as Pawniard; it can also set up Stealth Rock for Pikipek and remove it from its side with Rapid Spin. Chinchou pairs very well with Pikipek, providing an Electric immunity, a resistance to Ice-type moves, good type synergy, and a slow Volt Switch to let Pikipek come in unscathed; in exchange, Pikipek removes Grass-types and helps with the Ground-types that trouble Chinchou. Remember that Diglett can outspeed Pikipek and OHKO it with Rock Slide. Pawniard and Alolan Grimer are good partners, as Pikipek lures in Honedge and allows them to Pursuit trap it. Strong priority users such as Carvanha, Corphish, Timburr, and Croagunk are good partners for Pikipek, because they help mitigate the issue with Diglett (especially Carvanha and Corphish), and also help against weather sweepers (in particular against Slush Rush users, such as Cubchoo and Alolan Sandshrew, that are problematic for Pikipek). Slow components of a VoltTurn core, like defensive Mienfoo and Chinchou, help Pikipek come in on things it can take advantage of, such as slow Ground-types like Hippopotas or Fighting-types such as Timburr. Pikipek itself is a nice U-turn user, gaining momentum against slower Electric-types if you opt for Chinchou as a partner. Since this set is more inclined to deal huge blows instead of pick off foes, Sticky Web support from Surskit can turn Life Orb Pikipek into a sweeping machine, easily outspeeding many foes at -1 Spe (just be wary of Defiant users such as Mankey and Pawniard). Finally, this Pikipek set is particularly good against slower Rock-types, making it a great member of "bird spam" cores that struggle against Rock-types.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Pikipek has access to STAB Skill Link Fury Attack, which seems very appealing at first; however, Pikipek has issues finding a slot for it, its 85% accuracy move means it will fail at bad times, and even though Skill Link makes it hit 5 times, it doesn't provide important KOs like Bullet Seed or Brave Bird do, so it's a unadvised option. Swords Dance is an interesting option to boost Pikipek's offensive stats to an insane level, but it can't pull it off very well because its defenses are pathetic, so it can't afford to withstand a hit and boost; moreover, keep in mind that Pikipek lacks priority moves, making it difficult to sweep against faster threats even at +2. Swords Dance in conjunction with Focus Sash can turn Pikipek into a sweeping machine once priority users have been eliminated; on such a set, Drill Peck is advised because it avoids the recoil of Brave Bird. However, consider that the absence of Life Orb is somewhat unappealing, because even at +2, Pikipek struggles to wear down opposing Pokémon with Drill Peck alone. Even if you can pull off a Swords Dance, any priority move can obliterate a 1 HP Pikipek. Mirror Move can be used with Flyinium Z to threaten a powerful attack and boost in the same turn, but this is usually better done by Vullaby thanks to its bulk and Weak Armor. Pikipek has access to Boomburst, but such a set is better suited for Taillow, which sports better Speed, Heat Wave, and Scrappy. Steel Wing may be attractive at first as it hits support Archen and other Rock-types super effectively; however, the nature of damage rolls in LC makes Bullet Seed a better choice, whereas Steel Wing fails to OHKO any Rock-type (even Archen). As supportive options, Pikipek has access to both Roost and Tailwind; Roost can find a place in the Life Orb set, but it's not recommended because Pikipek is too frail to use Roost efficiently, while Tailwind can be used to give support to the team, but Pikipek is again too frail to make full use of it and also has issues finding a moveslot for it.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Pikipek has a horrible time against most Steel-types, because even though it has coverage for them, they simply withstand the hit and KO it back. Life Orb Pawniard can easily OHKO Pikipek with Sucker Punch, but Brick Break is a clean OHKO. If Pikipek's set lacks Brick Break, then Pawniard somewhat walls it, since Flame Charge isn't a 2HKO on Pawniard's Eviolite set, while Sucker Punch is a sure 2HKO in the worst-case scenario. If Pikipek is running Brick Break, then Honedge completely walls Pikipek by virtue of its typing and can OHKO it after Stealth Rock damage. It should be noted, however, that Honedge fails to OHKO Pikipek without Stealth Rock damage.

**Rock-types**: Rock-types are usually slower than Pikipek, and it can easily take them out with a Life Orb-boosted Skill Link Bullet Seed; however, there are exceptions. Archen is a prime example, because Jolly Archen Speed ties with Jolly Pikipek, takes a Bullet Seed, and can OHKO Pikipek back more than 90% of the time with Rock Slide, even with Defeatist. Jolly Onix can also Speed tie with Jolly Pikipek and OHKO it with Rock Blast; however, if Onix loses the Speed tie, it's OHKOed by Pikipek's Bullet Seed. +2 Tirtouga can OHKO Pikipek with an Aqua Jet or a STAB move, but it must be wary because Pikipek can KO it with Bullet Seed.

**Electric-types**: Choice Scarf Chinchou can outright OHKO Pikipek with an Electric-type move before it can even try to use Bullet Seed; however, slower and bulkier variants of Chinchou should be wary of Bullet Seed (although it can't OHKO Berry Juice variants and some Eviolite defensive sets). Magnemite is a excellent answer to Pikipek, because it 4x resists Flying, resists Grass, and isn't OHKOed by Brick Break; in exchange, it OHKOes Pikipek with its Electric STAB move. Elekid is fast enough to outspeed the Life Orb variant and OHKO it with its Electric-type STAB moves.

**Revenge Killers and Strong Priority Users**: Pikipek's defenses are almost nonexistent, and it also lacks a strong priority move like Fletchling's Acrobatics; this lets faster revenge killers such as Choice Scarf Doduo or priority users like Carvanha and Corphish decimate Pikipek.

**Status Ailments and Residual Damage**: Burns completely stop Pikipek, making Scald users such as Chinchou and Will-O-Wisp users like Ponyta good answers to Pikipek. Toxic poison from Pokemon like Mareanie and special walls such as Spritzee and Munchlax is also a huge pain; finally, paralysis's Speed drop can completely shut it down. Pikipek takes constant damage from Life Orb and Brave Bird; it is also weak to Stealth Rock, takes damage from Hail (which is often seen on teams), is hit neutrally by all priority moves, and is weak to Ice Shard.

[OVERVIEW]

Pros:
  • Hits 17 Spe with a Jolly nature, useful to outspeed 16 Spe like Jolly Pawniard and Adamant Fletchling.
  • Hits 17 Atk even with a Jolly nature, making it a fast and hard-hitting Pokémon when equipped with a Life Orb.
  • Access to Skill Link + Bullet Seed for coverage against Rock-types. Mention Chinchou
  • Access to a decently usable U-Turn thanks to its 17 Spe.
  • Its coverage options are very limited, but decently balanced (Fight/Fire/Grass options). Since you have a pros and cons section, if you say it's limited shouldn't this be in the cons section instead?
Cons:
  • Susceptible to Stealth Rock and Burns. Instead of just mentioning burns, other statuses such as Thunder Wave can leave it vulnerable (eg. getting outsped by checks)
  • Beside Skill Link (for Bullet Seed), its other abilities are trash. I wouldn't call it trash, but just not as viable
  • Paper-thin defenses.
  • Has not access to Rock Blast (unlike its evolution line).
  • Brave Bird recoil + Life Orb recoil means Pikipek won't last long in battle.

  • The STAB choice is based on what you need from Pikipek: Brave Bird is a raw-powered option that cuts its HPs very quickly, while Drill Peck is less aggressive both on its HP but it's significantly weaker than BB. change the wording after you've transferred the Drill Peck section to another bullet point, also give examples
  • Add Drill Peck info here
  • Bullet Seed is a must, since it is basically a 125 Grass coverage move against many Rock-types. You should mention Chinchou here, also try to give an example of a Rock-type which Bullet Seed might be effective against.
  • U-Turn is useful to gain momentum, thanks to its 17 Spe.
  • Brick Break hits Pawniard very hard, whereas Flame Charge helps with Ferroseed and boosts Pikipek's Speed. Roost can be used to restore HP, and to bypass Sucker Punch from Pawniard.

  • 10 HP IVs make Pikipek hit 19 HP, optimizing Life Orb recoil. mention how it now takes 1 HP instead of 2 without the HP ivs
  • A Life Orb boosts Pikipek's damage output.

  • Pawniard is a good partner for Pikipek, as Pikipek lures in Honedge and allows Pawnaird to come in and Pursuit trap it.
  • Mention priority users which can get rid of Diglett for Pikipek, as Pikipek is simply not fast enough and gets OHKOed due to it's frail defenses, Pokemon such as Corphish and Carvanha, also mention Choice Scarf users and Slush Rush users, such as Amaura and Cubchoo, respectively.

  • Swords Dance is an option to further boost Pikipek's offensive presence, but Pikipek can't pull it off well because its defenses are pathetic, and it can't afford to withstand a hit and boost.
  • In a similar context, Swords Dance in conjunction with Focus Sash can turn Pikipek into a sweeping machine once priority users are eliminated: on such a set, Drill Peck is adviced because it avoids the recoil of Brave Bird. However, keep in mind that Stealth Rock nullifies this game plan by breaking the Sash.
  • Choice Band can be used to give Pikipek more immediate power and longevity, but it locks Pikipek into a single move, giving the opponent the possibility to switch in something that resists the chosen move.
  • Choice Scarf give Pikipek a very high Speed, outpacing 16 Speed Scarfers; however, it cuts Pikipek's damage output significantly, and locks Pikipek into a single move.
    Note that Sucker Punch from Pawniard deals a huge amount of damage.
  • Pikipek has access to Smack Down to hit Archen, but it is outclassed by Skill Link Bullet Seed (125 BP vs 100 BP of supereffective Smack Down). Just don't mention Smack Down at all, it doesn't even OHKO Offensive Archen (as it 2HKOes Archen) and Bullet Seed + Skill Link OHKOes Offensive Archen anyways.
  • Fightium-Z sounds appealing to hit walls Munchlax extremely hard, but the combination of Brick Break and Brave Bird kills it almost always (note: one hit must be dealt on the switch).
  • Pikipek has access to Boomburst, but such a set is better suited for Taillow, which sports better Speed and Scrappy.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Pikipek has a horrible time against most Steel-types, because even though it has coverage for them, they simply withstand the hit and KO it back.
  • Magnemite is a good answer to Pikipek, because it double resists Flying, resists Grass, it's not KOed by Brick Break, and OHKOes Pikipek with Thunderbolt. The Choice Scarf variant is even more a pain for Pikipek, because it swiftly OHKOes Pikipek without even being touched.
  • Life Orb Pawniard can easily OHKO Pikipek with Sucker Punch, although Brick Break is a clean OHKO. If Pikipek's set lacks Brick Break, then Pawniard semi-walls it, since Flame Charge isn't a 2HKO on Pawniard's Eviolite set, while Sucker Punch is a sure 2HKO, in the worst case scenario.
  • If Pikipek is running Brick Break, then Honedge completely walls Pikipek by virtue of its typing; the only thing Pikipek can do is U-Turning out to put in a Pursuit trapper. Even if Pikipek runs Flame Charge instead of Brick Break, Honedge can easily take a hit and retaliate to OHKO Pikipek.
**Rock-types**: Rock-types are usually slower than Pikipek, and it can easily take them out with a Life Orb Skill Link Bullet Seed; however, there are some exceptions.
  • Archen is a prime example, because Jolly Archen ties with Jolly Pikipek, with Berry Juice can take all the 5 hits of Bullet Seed, and OHKO Pikipek more than 90% of times with Rock Slide even if Defeatist is active (with Stone Edge is guaranteed OHKO in any case, and it's a OHKO with Rock Slide if Pikipek has taken Stealth Rock damage/Life Orb recoil). Mention how Offensive Archen gets OHKOed by Bullet Seed, but the other variants don't necessarily get OHKOed
  • Jolly Onix can also speed-tie with Jolly Pikipek and proceed to OHKO even an eventual Sash with Rock Blast; however, if Onix loses the speed-tie, it's OHKOed by Pikipek Bullet Seed (even the SturdyJuice variant).
**Chinchou**: Choice Scarf Chinchou can outright OHKO Pikipek with an Electric-type move before Pikipek can even try to use Bullet Seed on it; however, slower and bulkier variants of Chinchou (even the Physically Defensive one) should be wary of it, because Bullet Seed has a high chance of OHKO Chinchou.

**Fletchling**: even though Gen VII nerfed Gale Wings way too much, full health Fletchling is able to OHKO Pikipek with Acrobatics. However, if Fletchling takes Stealth Rock damage (or general damage), Pikipek can outspeed even the Jolly variant and OHKO it with Brave Bird.

**Status and Residual damage**: burns completely hamper Pikipek, making Scald (mention Will-O-Wisp as well) users like Chinchou a threat. Toxic poison from things like Mareanie or special walls like Spritzee and Munchlax are also a huge pain; finally, paralysis can shut it down.
Pikipek takes damage from Life Orb and Brave Bird, if it is chosen as its main STAB; it is also weak to Stealth Rock, takes damage from both Sand and Hail (that are often seen in teams), and it's hit neutrally by all priority moves and it's weak to Ice Shard.

im not GP, but I see some serious grammar issues in this, so you should probably fix the clearly visible ones.

  • Choice Scarf gives Pikipek a very high Speed, outpacing 16 Speed Scarfers; however, it cuts Pikipek's damage output significantly, and locks Pikipek into a single move.
    Note that Sucker Punch from Pawniard deals a huge amount of damage.
  • Fightium-Z sounds appealing to hit walls like Munchlax extremely hard, but the combination of Brick Break and Brave Bird kills it almost always (note: one hit must be dealt on the switch).
  • Pikipek has access to Boomburst, but such a set is better suited for Taillow, which sports better Speed and Scrappy.

Checks and Counters
===================

  • Archen is a prime example, because Jolly Archen ties with Jolly Pikipek, and with Berry Juice can take all the 5 hits of Bullet Seed, consequently OHKOing Pikipek more than 90% of times with Rock Slide even considering that Defeatist is active; Defeatist Stone Edge is guaranteed OHKO in any circumstance, while Defeatist Rock Slide will result in a OHKO if Pikipek has taken Stealth Rock damage/Life Orb recoil: however, Offensive variants of Archen (lacking Berry Juice) are always OHKOed by Pikipek's Bullet Seed.

However, if Fletchling takes Stealth Rock damage (or general damage), Pikipek can outspeed the Adamant variant and OHKO it with Brave Bird.

**Status and Residual damage**: burns completely hamper Pikipek, making Scald users like Chinchou and WoW users like Ponyta threats.
Also not QC

For the checks and counters section write it fully up from the start.

Hey there! This is very well written for your first analysis - I can definitely see that you've done your research. That being said, I think you should add a Scarf set in front of the LO set - Pikipek's main advantages over Doduo are U-turn and hitting Onix with Bullet Seed, both of which a Scarf set is better able to take advantage of.

I'll save the full QC check for after you have the Scarf set up, but I don't think the Life Orb set really needs U-turn seeing how it's usually just better off 2HKOing its switch-ins. It also seems a little frail to be using Roost. I would make the slashes something like this:
move 1: Brave Bird / Drill Peck
move 2: Bullet Seed
move 3: Brick Break / Flame Charge
move 4: Flame Charge / Substitute / U-turn
Substitute would be helpful for getting around Sucker Punch Pawniard. Roost should then be moved to Other Options.

Keep up the great work!

You're not late at all, don't worry about that. Analyses aren't usually done in one go (though you're allowed to if you want and enough QC members are online).

Firstly, remove all mentions of Fletchling - it's not good enough right now to be worth mentioning.
The tag for set is just [SET] - you don't need [SET 1] or [SET 2].

Overview:
Add Rufflet as a Pokemon that Pikipek is overshadowed by.
  • Beside Skill Link (for Bullet Seed), its other abilities are not viable in a competitive scenario.
I don't think this point is needed - Bullet Seed alone is enough to make Skill Link worthwhile.

Choice Scarf:
Without a Life Orb, Pikipek really needs the extra damage from Brave Bird. Instead, I would slash it after Brick Break for something like this:
move 1: Brave Bird
move 2: Bullet Seed
move 3: Brick Break / Drill Peck
move 4: U-Turn
Brick Break is more expendable because it's not a great move to be locked into anyway. Make sure to reflect that you changed the move order in the move descriptions as well.

The Def EVs should be put into HP so that Pikipek can switch into Stealth Rock four times excluding Brave Bird recoil in addition to letting Pikipek use Brave Bird a bit more. I can't seem to replicate the Pawniard calcs you mention.

I would also slash Jolly before Adamant, as 25 is an important Speed tier to hit for Choice Scarf users.
  • U-Turn is used to gain momentum, and works well with Choice Scarf Pikipek because Pikipek can reach 24 Spe (Adamant) or 25 Spe (Jolly), outspeeding a good portion of the metagame and outpacing all the unboosted tier.
I think the second part of this point would be better off in Set Details - just say that U-turn is used to gain momentum and ease prediction.

Set Details:
  • Maximum Spe is also necessary, as it gives Pikipek the chance to outspeed base 95s such as Diglett and Elekid, and to outpace positive base 60s and below at +1 such as Jolly Scarf Pawniard, boosted Jolly Scraggy, and Modest Scarf Chinchou.
Pikipek is well above Diglett or Elekid's Speed tier, so get rid of that.

Mention the advantages of Jolly and Adamant - Jolly most notably allows Pikipek to outspeed Scarf Pawniard and Scarf Rufflet, and tie with Scarf Mienfoo and Scarf Chinchou. Adamant significantly improves rolls, allowing Pikipek to more frequently OHKO Timburr and Foongus from full health with Brave Bird.

Usage Tips:
Replace Surskit with Mienfoo as a common lead that you would want to use Brave Bird against - Surskit is almost always Focus Sash and only avoids the OHKO from Bullet Seed by 1 HP, so you're better off using Bullet Seed from Surskit and hoping for a high roll or crit.

Team Options:
Specify that the Pawniard used to trap Gastly and Honedge is Scarf Pawniard, as Eviolite/Life Orb Pawniard aren't great users of Pursuit. Mention Grimer-Alola here as well.
Mention that Pikipek can be paired with other birds such as Vullaby and Doduo to wear down shared checks.

Life Orb:
Moves:
Bullet Seed actually hits harder than a 125 base power Grass-type attack most of the time because of how level 5 rolls round each individual hit. Just say that it's a great coverage move.
Team Options:
Again, include Grimer-Alola in the Pursuit point.
Mention that Pikipek fits well on birdspam cores to help weaken shared bird checks.
Mention that slow VoltTurn users can help to get Pikipek in safely and begin wallbreaking.
Mention that Sticky Web from the likes of Surskit gives Pikipek a better shot at sweeping because not as many faster Pokemon can force it out.

Other Options:
For Swords Dance, mention that Pikipek lacks priority, meaning it often struggles to sweep faster teams even after setting up.
For the Focus Sash Swords Dance point, mention that without Brave Bird, Focus Sash Pikipek often lacks the power to OHKO key threats, leaving it even more prone to being revenge-killed.
Don't include Choice Band at all; it's almost completely outclassed by Life Orb, since Life Orb only has one HP point of recoil on Pikipek anyway, and because of level 5 rolls, Life Orb and Choice Band actually boost Pikipek's damage by about the same amount.
Remove Choice Scarf from here since you have a set for it now.
I don't really see the appeal in Fightium Z, I don't think you should include that either.
Mention that Steel Wing can be used to heavily damage Archen but Bullet Seed is usually the better coverage move for Rock-types overall.
Mention that Pikipek can provide Tailwind support and also attempt to use it to sweep, but it has a great deal of trouble safely setting it up due to its frailty.

Checks and Counters:
For the Magnemite point in the Steel-type section, "The Choice Scarf variant is even more a pain for Pikipek, because it swiftly OHKOes Pikipek without even being touched" isn't true for the Scarf set. Also, replace "Thunderbolt" with "Electric-type STAB" because some variants of Magnemite only carry Volt Switch. Also, specify that Honedge OHKOes Pikipek after Stealth Rock (it doesn't OHKO from full health).

For the Chinchou section, just say that Bullet Seed heavily damages bulky variants; Life Orb Bullet Seed doesn't OHKO BJ Chinchou, and Scarf Bullet Seed doesn't OHKO either BJ Chinchou or Eviolite Chinchou.

Add a section on revenge-killers; due to Pikipek's frailty, faster Pokemon like Doduo and strong priority users like Corphish can heavily damage or KO Pikipek before it has the chance to respond.

This may look like a lot, but there aren't actually a ton of things to fix - I just wanted to make sure the reasoning for everything was clear.
Once you've implemented the above, you can change the title of the thread to QC 1/3. Feel free to ask if you have any questions!

Thank you so much for the detailed advices you gave me: just the time for a quick dinner, and I'll implement all the changes suggested.

[OVERVIEW]

  • A reliable way to beat Water- and Rock-types (notably Defensive Chinchou) in Skill Link + Bullet Seed separates Pikipek from the multitude of Flying-type Pokémon in LC.
  • Possibility to break through SturdyJuice users (bar Magnemite) like Geodude, Onix, and Tirtouga.
  • Access to a decently usable U-Turn thanks to its 17 Spe.
  • Its coverage option are quite balanced (Fighting/Fire/Grass).
Cons:
  • Faces competition for a team slot from other Flying-types such as Doduo (faster and stronger), Archen (utility and offensive presence), and Fletchling (has Overheat for more damage on Steel-types).
  • Susceptible to Stealth Rock and statuses, in particular burn and paralysis (they cut its Atk and Spe, respectively).
  • Beside Skill Link (for Bullet Seed), its other abilities are not viable in a competitive scenario.
  • Paper-thin defenses.
  • Has not access to Rock Blast (unlike its evolution line).
  • Brave Bird recoil + Life Orb recoil means Pikipek won't last long in battle.

[SET 1]
name: Choice Scarf
move 1: Brave Bird / Drill Peck
move 2: Bullet Seed
move 3: Brick Break
move 4: U-Turn
item: Choice Scarf
ability: Skill Link
nature: Adamant / Jolly
evs: 236 Atk / 36 Def / 236 Spe

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Brave Bird hits very hard, dealing a solid damage on neutral targets: the recoil may be unhappealing, but the damage output is pretty high, so this should be the main STAB to use.
  • Drill Peck, while hitting for fewer damage, is a more conservative STAB move that doesn't not touch Pikipek's HP.
  • Bullet Seed, in conjunction with Skill Link, is an amazing tool against Rock-types (like Onix, Geodude, and Archen), Ground-types (like Focus Sash Diglett and non-Scarf Drilbur), Shell Smashers (like Tirtouga, Omanyte, and Shellder), and Chinchou; it also deals very well with Focus Sash Abra by outspeeding and KOing it thanks to Abra's nonexistant Def.
  • Brick Break is used when Pawniard is on the field, or when it's predicted a Pawniard switch-in: it is also Pikipek's best option against many Steel-types that resist both Flying and Grass, like Magnemite and Ferroseed.
  • U-Turn is used to gain momentum, and works well with Choice Scarf Pikipek because Pikipek can reach 24 Spe (Adamant) or 25 Spe (Jolly), outspeeding a good portion of the metagame and outpacing all the unboosted tier.

Set Details
========

  • Maximum Atk investment is required in order to boost Pikipek's offensive presence. This is necessary, as without it Pikipek may be in a difficult position whem attempting to clean.
  • 36 Def is used to take better priority moves, in particular to turn Jolly Pawniard's Sucker Punch into a ~20% chance of OHKO.
  • Choice Scarf boosts Pikipek's Speed to a very high level, outspeeding base 60s with positive nature and a Choice Scarf like Pawniard.
Usage tips
========

  • This set should be brought in early in the match, as it can be useful to gain momentum against the opposing lead, or can be used to eliminate the opposing leader with Bullet Seed (in Geodude and Onix's case), or to severely dent the opponent with a Brave Bird (in case of Sticky Web Surskit).
  • Pikipek with a Choice Scarf is not going to punch huge holes in the opposing team: it should be played with a "hit-and-rum" tactic unless the opponent lacks a way to seriously dent Pikipek. Trying to weaken the opposing team via powerful wallbreakers and use Scarf Pikipek to finish off things with Brave Bird is a good game plan.
Team options
========

  • A powerful Ground-type is a nice partner for Pikipek, as Pikipek suffers Electric- and Steel-types (it also suffers Rock-types, but Bullet Seed is almost always a good answer to them). Both Diglett and Drilbur can be helpful because they check Electric- and Steel-types like Pawniard, Magnemite, and in Mold Breaker Drilbur's case Bronzor too. Diglett can trap Magnemite and Pawniard, proceed to KO them with EQ, and set Stealth Rock; on the other hand, Drilbur can set Stealth Rock, remove them from Pikipek's field side, and KO Magnemite through Sturdy thanks to Mold Breaker.
  • Chinchou makes a fine partner, because it shares an interesting typing sinergy with Pikipek: Chinchou can absorb Electric-type moves and resists Ice-type attacks, while Pikipek comes in on Ground- and Grass-type moves.
  • Pikipek has no real chance against Gastly if locked in Bullet Seed/Brick Break, and can't do anything at all to Honedge: this makes Pawniard an excellent teammate for Pikipek, since it can trap Gastly and Honedge with Pursuit; in exchange, Pikipek is immune to the Ground-type moves that scare Pawniard away.

[SET 2]
name: Life Orb
move 1: Brave Bird / Drill Peck
move 2: Bullet Seed
move 3: Brick Break / Flame Charge
move 4: Flame Charge / Substitute / U-Turn
item: Life Orb
ability: Skill Link
nature: Jolly
evs: 236 Atk / 36 Def / 236 Spe
ivs: 10 HP

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========
  • Brave Bird is a raw-powered STAB option that packs a lof of power; however, in conjunction with Life Orb, it cuts Pikipek's HP very quickly.
  • Drill Peck, on the other hand, is a less aggressive STAB option that preserves Pikipek's HP, but hits significantly weaker than Brave Bird.
  • Bullet Seed is a must, since it is basically a 125 Grass-type coverage move against many Water- and Rock-types, notably OHKOing Defensive Chinchou, Standard Onix, and Offensive Tirtouga (even through an eventual Solid Rock).
  • Brick Break hits Pawniard very hard, OHKOing it even through Eviolite.
  • Flame Charge helps with Ferroseed and boosts Pikipek's Speed, making ir a potent sweeper once its checks and priority users are removed from the battle.
  • Substitute can be used as a reliable way to bypass Sucker Punch from Pawniard; it also protects Pikipek from status moves like WoW and Thunder Wave.
  • U-Turn can be used as well because Pikipek hits 17 Speed, outpacing many Pokémon and gaining momentum.

Set Details
========

  • The given EVs spread is used to maximize Pikipek's Speed and Attack. Fully invested Speed with a Jolly nature allow Pikipek to hit 17 Spe, which is a good benchmark since it outpaces may Pokémon sitting at 16 Spe such as Jolly Pawniard and Adamant Fletching: please note that Pikipek will still speed-tie with Jolly Onix, (an eventual) Jolly Fletchling, and Timid Surskit.
  • 10 HP IVs make Pikipek hit 19 HP, turning Life Orb recoil from 2 HP per move down to 1 HP per move.
  • Life Orb boosts Pikipek's damage output.
  • The leftover 36 EVs are put into Def to turn a clean OHKO from LO Jolly Pawniard Sucker Punch into a 56% chance of OHKO.
Usage Tips
========

  • This set can be used in the first turns of the match to gain momentum against opposing leads: however, keep in mind that Jolly Pikipek speed-ties with Timid Surskit and, more dangerously, with Jolly Onix.
  • Pikipek can clean more efficiently when priority users (specifically Pawniard), and faster Electric- and Rock-types (Scarf Chinchou, Archen) are removed from the field.
  • Prediction is essential: even though Brave Bird/Drill Peck should be the moves to spam the most, Bullet Seed should be used when Chinchou or a Rock-type switch-in are predicted (since it has a very high chance to OHKO even bulkier variants of Chinchou), while Brick Break/Flame Charge should be used only when it's mathematically sure that Pawniard/Ferroseed are entering the battlefield, respectively.

Team Options
========
  • Diglett traps and removes Steel-, Electric-, and Rock-types, opening some holes for Pikipek: it also helps turning 2HKOs into OHKOs with Stealth Rock.
  • In a similar way, Drilbur can break through Rock-types and Pawniard; it can also set Stealth Rock and remove them from Pikipek's side with Rapid Spin.
  • Chinchou pairs very well with Pikipek, giving it an Electric immunity, a resistance to Ice-type moves, good type-sinergy, and a slow Volt Switch to come in unscathed; in exchange, Pikipek removes Grass-types and helps with the Ground-types that trouble Chinchou. Remember that Diglett can outspeed Pikipek and proceed to OHKO it with Rock Slide.
  • Pawniard is a good partner for Pikipek, as Pikipek lures in Honedge and allows Pawnaird to come in and Pursuit trap it.
  • Priority users like Carvanha, Corphish, Timburr and Croagunk are good picks to pair with Pikipek, because they help mitigating the issue with Diglett (Carvanha and Corphish), and also against weather abusers (in particular against the new Slush Rush users, such as Cubchoo and Alolan Sandshrew, that are problematic for Pikipek because they outspeed and OHKO Pikipek in Hail).

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

  • Roost can find a place in the Life Orb set, but it's not recommended because Pikipek is too frail tonuse Roost efficiently; it should be used to just 2HKO its switch-ins.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Pikipek has a horrible time against most Steel-types, because even though it has coverage for them, they simply withstand the hit and KO it back.
Magnemite is a good answer to Pikipek, because it double resists Flying, resists Grass, it's not KOed by Brick Break, and OHKOes Pikipek with Thunderbolt. The Choice Scarf variant is even more a pain for Pikipek, because it swiftly OHKOes Pikipek without even being touched.
Life Orb Pawniard can easily OHKO Pikipek with Sucker Punch, although Brick Break is a clean OHKO. If Pikipek's set lacks Brick Break, then Pawniard semi-walls it, since Flame Charge isn't a 2HKO on Pawniard's Eviolite set, while Sucker Punch is a sure 2HKO, in the worst case scenario.
If Pikipek is running Brick Break, then Honedge completely walls Pikipek by virtue of its typing; the only thing Pikipek can do is U-Turning out to put in a Pursuit trapper.

Archen is a prime example, because Jolly Archen ties with Jolly Pikipek, and with Berry Juice can take all the 5 hits of Bullet Seed, consequently OHKOing Pikipek more than 90% of times with Rock Slide even considering that Defeatist is active; Defeatist Stone Edge is guaranteed OHKO in any circumstance, while Defeatist Rock Slide will result in a OHKO if Pikipek has taken Stealth Rock damage/Life Orb recoil: however, Offensive variants of Archen (lacking Berry Juice) are always OHKOed by Pikipek's Bullet Seed.
Jolly Onix can also speed-tie with Jolly Pikipek and proceed to OHKO even an eventual Sash with Rock Blast; however, if Onix loses the speed-tie, it's OHKOed by Pikipek Bullet Seed (even the SturdyJuice variant).

Overview
When you write it up be sure to condense Pros and Cons into one paragraph
Probably don't include the exact Attack stat, you can just say high Attack stat
Change point about using U-turn to "With U-Turn, Pikipek can be a decently good pivot"

Scarf Set

Moves
Just to help with some grammar and diction here are a few tips:
Remove the a in the middle of "dealing a solid damage" or add "amount" before "damage"
There is no 'h' in "unappealing"
Usually using "quite" over "pretty" works better but that doesn't matter too much. Same thing for using "such as" over "like"
"hitting for fewer damage" ---> "hitting for less damage"
"Pikipek because Pikipek can reach 24 Speed (Adamant) or 25 Speed (Jolly)" ---> "Pikipek because it can reach 25 Speed with a Jolly nature"
Won't be mentioning anything regarding grammar so please proofread.

Set Details
Better explain the pros and cons for each nature

Usage Tips
Explain Hit-and-run more
Don't use Surskit as an example of a pokemon that can't take a Brave Bird, as it can't live very many unresisted moves anyways

Team Options
Mention that other U-turn and Volt Switch users makes a good pivoting core

Life Orb Set

Set Details
Explain Jolly nature
remove outspeeding Timid Surskit, as it usually carries Focus Sash anyways

Usage Tips
Don't say mathematically sure. Just don't.

Other Options
Remove Choice Scarf as you have set of it above

Checks and Counters
Condense the Rock and Steel categories into one paragraph each.

Again I'm not QC, I just wanted to ad some thoughts. All in all though, great first analysis. :)

Overview:
- Rufflet does not get Defiant. A better reason would be that Rufflet is much stronger due to Hustle.
- You don't need to say what burn and paralysis do, it's assumed that the reader would know basic facts like that

Choice Scarf:

Moves: Ferroseed does not resist Flying, so it's not the best example there. Alolan Sandshrew would work better.

Usage Tips: Use U-turn or the appropriate coverage move on predicted switches.

Life Orb:

Moves: Mention U-turn providing a little bit of chip damage.

Set Details:
- Remove the Fletchling mentions here
- The Defense EVs also help against other priority moves in general, like letting Pikipek take less from Timburr's Mach Punch, Corphish's Aqua Jet, etc.

Other Options:
- Mirror Move can be used with Flyinium Z to threaten a powerful attack and boost in the same turn, but this is usually better down by Vullaby thanks to its bulk and Weak Armor.

Checks and Counters:
- The Steel- and Rock-type sections are really long. Condense these and make them go less into specifics. Try to not go over 4 sentences at the most.
- Change the Chinchou section to Electric-types, and specifically mention Chinchou along with Magnemite and Elekid.
- Sand is rather rare, reword that part about it in Status and Residue Damage.

H0W3AN made some good suggestions about grammar; implementing those would help GP's job, but you don't have to.

Great work with this, especially the Team Options sections! QC 2/3 after you implement the changes. :toast:

Ok, I'll implement all the changes shortly: always thought Rufflet got Defiant, don't know why :/

Great work with this, especially the Team Options sections! QC 2/3 after you implement the changes. :toast:
Thank you! And then, I'll write it in paragraphs!

While waiting for the last QC check, I ran some calcs on bulkier targets yesterday, and found out that Pikipek has an interesting chance of OHKOing Eviolite 116 HP / 36 Def Mudbray (to be clear, a passable Bulky Offensive set with Eviolite Defense maximum number, which is 14):

236 Atk Life Orb Pikipek (No Move) vs. 116 HP / 36 Def Eviolite Mudbray: 5-8 (20 - 32%) -- 2.2% chance to 4HKO → 1st and 2nd hit

236 Atk Life Orb Pikipek (No Move) vs. +2 116 HP / 36 Def Eviolite Mudbray: 3-5 (12 - 20%) -- possible 5HKO → 3rd, 4th, and 5th hit

Note: the "No Move" is a single Bullet Seed hit, because the SD calculator ignored Mudbray's Stamina (somehow), and considered it always at +0 Def for all the 5 hits.

Note 2: +0 Mudbray takes the same amount of damage of +1, while +2 takes the same of +3/+4
Summing up the minimum and maximum damages respectively, it results in 19-31 HP damage, factoring both Skill Link and all the boosts Mudbray acquires through Stamina: this means that Mudbray has a rough 50% chance of being OHKOed by a Life Orb Bullet Seed in the best case scenario (provided that Mudbray takes minimum damage for all the 5 times, which I found being a bit unrealistic).

Is it worth mentioning this benchmark under the "removes Ground-types" part, or not?
