[OVERVIEW]

Dragon

* Dragonite is a valuable asset to Dragon teams because of its ability to break through many opposing threats with its high base Attack.
* It has a wide movepool with useful moves such as Superpower, Fire Punch, and Earthquake.
* Dragonite also learns Extreme Speed, allowing it to be a strong revenge killer.
* Dragonite's bulk is impressive, and its Multiscale ability generally ensures that it can get off an attack without being KOed first, notably allowing it to take Magearna's Fleur Cannon from full health.
* However, Dragonite's defensive typing offers nothing to Dragon teams and has a major weakness to Ice-type attacks.
* Multiscale's effectiveness is ruined while Stealth Rock is up.
* Dragonite's Speed stat is lacking, leaving it outsped by offensive threats such as Kyurem-B and Latios.

Moves
========

* Outrage is an incredibly strong STAB move that allows Dragonite to break through walls such as Toxapex and Mega Venusaur.
* Extreme Speed is powerful priority that can OHKO or 2HKO most frail offensive Pokemon that would threaten Dragonite such as Mega Sharpedo.
* Fire Punch is used to hit Steel-types that would switch into Dragon-type attacks, like Skarmory, Ferrothorn, Mega Scizor, and Bisharp, and has a high chance to OHKO Tapu Bulu after Stealth Rock damage.
* Earthquake allows Dragonite to hit Rock- and Steel-types, OHKO Heatran, and 2HKO Doublade.
* Superpower is another option to hit Rock- and Steel-types, notably including Air Balloon Heatran, as well as break the defensive Normal core of Chansey and Porygon2.

Set Details
========

* 252 Attack EVs, an Adamant nature, and Choice Band are used to maximize Dragonite's damage output, giving it a chance to 2HKO Skarmory with Fire Punch.
* 252 Speed EVs let Dragonite outspeed as many threats as possible, including Timid Magearna and Adamant Diggersby.
* Multiscale halves the damage taken from an attack when Dragonite is at full health, making it much easier to handle opposing threats such as Magearna.

Usage Tips
========

* Preserving Multiscale is important, so make sure to keep Stealth Rock off the field.
* Although Multiscale halves the damage Dragonite takes while at full health, it still can be KOed by strong Ice- and Dragon-type attacks as well as super effective Z-Moves like Salamence's Devastating Drake.
* Outrage is required to break most walls early-game, but locking Dragonite into it will almost guarantee that it will lose Multiscale's effect, so be careful to not lose HP when Multiscale will be necessary late-game.
* Don't switch Dragonite in on an attack or while Stealth Rock is up because such actions will break Multiscale, which is important for guaranteeing Dragonite takes a hit.
* Dragonite also hates status and residual damage. Toxic and burn damage break its Multiscale, and burn also halves Dragonite's Attack. Be careful to avoid damage-inflicting weather and users of Rocky Helmet, Rough Skin, and Iron Barbs.
* Multiscale can be necessary for revenge killing threats like Magearna, so be careful of using contact moves against Steel teams; Ferrothorn's Iron Barbs will break Multiscale and potentially cause you to lose the game.
* Dragonite's wallbreaking capability allows it to weaken many foes so that its teammates can finish them off.
* It can use Extreme Speed to revenge kill most offensive Pokemon itself as well as clean late-game when physical walls are weakened or removed.
* Be careful to avoid locking Dragonite into Outrage when there are Fairy-types or Pokemon that can easily revenge kill it, like Azumarill and Kyurem-B. If Dragonite is locked into a weaker coverage move, it becomes setup fodder for foes like Z-Belly Drum Azumarill and Mimikyu. Outrage will also confuse the user after 2 or 3 turns, which can force Dragonite to switch out and give opposing Pokemon a chance to set up.

Team Options
========

* Latios and Latias can remove Stealth Rock with Defog to preserve Dragonite's Multiscale. Choice Scarf Latios also outspeeds other Dragon-types that threaten Dragonite, and Latias can restore Dragonite's health with Healing Wish. In return, Dragonite breaks through the specially defensive Pokemon that wall them such as Mantine and Ferrothorn.
* Hydreigon and Dragonite form an exceptional core because of their ability to remove each other's checks. Dragonite gets rid of specially defensive walls like Chansey and Tyranitar, while Hydreigon removes Mega Slowbro and Ferrothorn.
* Kyurem-B can switch into Ice-type attacks for Dragonite and break through Steel-types with Earth Power.
* Garchomp resists Rock for Dragonite, can eliminate Steel-types with Earthquake, and sets up Stealth Rock to give Dragonite some guaranteed 2HKOs on foes like Skarmory.
* Dragalge is neutral to Fairy and can KO Fairy types with Adaptability-boosted Sludge Wave; in return, Dragonite is immune to Ground. Dragalge can also set up Toxic Spikes to wear down bulky walls without recovery for Dragonite.
* Salamence and Dragonite share similar checks, and once Dragonite has broken through walls, Salamence can sweep.

Checks and Counters

Dragon
--------

**Fairy-types**: Fairy-types such as Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, and Togekiss block Outrage, can switch into Dragonite relatively easily, and force Dragonite out. However, Tapu Bulu fears Fire Punch.

**Porygon2**: Porygon2 will copy Dragonite's Multiscale with Trace and wall it and most of its team while threatening them out with Ice Beam. However, Porygon2 can't switch into Superpower or Outrage if it isn't at full health.

**Ice-types**: Ice types like Kyurem-B and Alolan Ninetales can heavily damage Dragonite even with Multiscale, and Kyurem-B bypasses that completely with Teravolt.

**Physical Walls**: Physical walls like Skarmory and Mega Slowbro can switch into Dragonite relatively easily, and Mega Slowbro threatens to burn it with Scald.

**Chip Damage**: Dragonite absolutely hates Stealth Rock and residual damage from Sand, Hail, Rocky Helmet, Rough Skin, and Iron Barbs because they all break Multiscale.

**Status**: Burns and Toxic break Multiscale. Burns also cut Dragonite's Attack in half, and paralysis halves its Speed.

**Rock-types**: Rock-types such as Terrakion cannot be revenge killed by Extreme Speed and deal heavy damage even through Multiscale with their Rock-type STAB attacks. However, they cannot switch into Earthquake or Superpower.

**Revenge Killers**: Revenge killers like Weavile KO or force out a Dragonite locked into any move besides Extreme Speed.

* However, Dragonite's defensive typing offers nothing to Dragon teams.
* It also has a major weakness to Ice attacks, being weak to Stealth Rock means that Multiscale's effectiveness is ruined. Change the wording to say that Stealth Rock breaking Multiscale makes Dragonite much more susceptible to Ice-type attacks, otherwise this isn't a coherent point.
* Dragonite's Speed stat is also lacking, leaving it outsped by offensive threats such as Kyurem-B and Latios.
* Nevertheless, multiple attributes make Dragonite an excellent edition to Dragon teams. Fluff

* Earthquake allows Dragonite to hit Rock- and Steel-types as well as 2HKOing Doublade.
* Superpower is another option to hit Rock- and Steel-types, notably Ferrothorn and Heatran, as well as breaking the defensive Normal core of Chansey and Porygon2. Defensive Staraptor is also in the Normal defensive core and can shut Dragonite down if it uses Superpower.

Set Details
========

* 252 Attack EVs, an Adamant nature, and Choice Band are used to allow Dragonite to break through most walls with Outrage, as well as give a chance to 2HKO Skarmory with Fire Punch.
* 252 Spe EVs lets Dragonite outspeed as many threats as possible.
* Multiscale guarantees that it will live a hit from a faster enemy before attacking.

Usage Tips
========

* Don't switch Dragonite into an attack or while Stealth Rock is up, because it will break Multiscale, which is important for guaranteeing that it lives a hit. Avoid damage-inflicting weather and be cautious around common Rocky Helmet, Rough Skin, or Iron Barbs users, especially if Dragonite needs Multiscale to stay intact.
* Dragonite also hates status. Toxic and burn damage break its Multiscale, and burn also halves Dragonite's attack.
* Dragonite can revenge kill most offensive Pokemon with Extreme Speed as well as clean with it late-game when physical walls are weakened or removed.
* Be careful to avoid locking Dragonite into Outrage when there are Fairy-types or Pokemon that can easily revenge kill it, like Azumarill and Kyurem-B.
* Avoid needlessly spamming Extreme Speed and Superpower in certain matchups, such as with Flying and Normal respectively, as Dragonite can quickly run out of PP in either move.

Team Options
========

* Latios and Latias can remove Stealth Rock with Defog to preserve Dragonite's Multiscale, and in return, Dragonite breaks through the specially defensive Pokemon that wall them, such as Mantine and Ferrothorn.
* Kyurem-B can switch into Ice-type attacks for Dragonite and can also break through Steel-types with Earth Power.

* Dragalge is neutral to Fairy and can KO Fairy types with Adaptability-boosted Sludge Wave, and in return, Dragonite is immune to Ground. Dragalge can also set Toxic Spikes to wear down bulky walls without recovery for Dragonite.
* Salamence and Dragonite share similar checks, and once Dragonite has broken through walls, Salamence can sweep.

Other Options
=============

Dragon
--------
* Dragonite can use Dragon Dance, but it is outclassed by Salamence, which is faster, slightly stronger, and has Moxie to help it sweep.
* Thunder Punch can be used to hit Togekiss, Azumarill, and Tapu Fini while still 2HKOing Skarmory, although Fire Punch is still superior coverage.
* Iron Head hits Fairy-types, but that requires Dragonite to miss out on important coverage. Dragonite can't afford to lose other coverage options for a move that's meant to hit Fairy-types while other coverage options all handle multiple types effectively.

Checks and Counters
===================

Dragon
--------
**Fairy-types**: Fairy types such as Tapu Bulu, Tapu Fini, and Togekiss can switch into Dragonite relatively easily and force Dragonite out, but Tapu Bulu fears Fire Punch.

**Ice-types**: Ice types like Kyurem-B and Alolan Ninetales can heavily damage Dragonite even with Multiscale up, and Kyurem-B bypasses that completely with Teravolt.

** Stealth Rock / Status**: Dragonite absolutely hates Stealth Rock and status moves because they break Multiscale, and burn halves its Attack.

**Revenge Killers**: Revenge killers like Weavile KO or force out a Dragonite locked into any move besides Extreme Speed.

**Dragon-types**:
**Kyurem-B**: This thing wins 1v1 every time so it's fine if it gets its own bullet
**Porygon2**:

Overview:
- Fire Punch needs to be listed as a coverage move.
- I'd actually say that Multiscale allows Dragonite to survive a Fleur Cannon from Magearna, which is a pretty big deal.

Moves:
- Must mention Tapu Bulu for Fire Punch.
- Earthquake is for Heatran more than anything else, so it needs to be mentioned. Doublade's not a threat because of Hydreigon, so don't need to point that out.
- Ferrothorn is hit harder by Fire Punch and Heatran by Earthquake. The primary use of Superpower is to hit the Normal core then Air Balloon Heatran, as otherwise Earthquake is better coverage.

Set Details:
- Max Speed Dragonite notably outspeeds Timid Magearna, which is a huge threat to Dragon. Adamant Diggersby is just the icing on the cake.
- Multiscale does not guarantee anything like Sturdy does. Don't say it does because some Ice-types do KO through it, as do very powerful attacks such as Life Orb Latios's Draco Meteor having a small roll and Z-Moves like Salamence's Devastating Drake.

Usage Tips:
- Talk about wallbreaking early-game and decision making. Outrage is often needed to break walls, but being locked in will almost certainly lose Multiscale, so you should discuss that tradeoff.
- Important detail is saving Dragonite for revenge killing if needed. For example, Shift Gear Magearna can outright sweep Dragon teams if Dragonite loses Multiscale, so you need to play around that. With regards to this specific example, this means being careful about using contact moves against Steel teams, as losing Multiscale to Ferrothorn's Iron Barbs can be a death sentence.
- Dragonite can easily be used as setup bait by sweepers such as Sitrus Berry Azumarill and Mimikyu after it locks into a coverage move, so mention something about playing around that.

Team Options:
- Add Latias's Healing Wish? And that Choice Scarf Latios takes out fast Dragon-types for Dragonite.
- Hydreigon is the special wallbreaker, you have to mention the offensive core they form.

Other Options:
- I'm not sure how viable Thunder Punch is this gen. The issue is that Azumarill uses Z-Belly Drum often this gen, which puts it into range of Extreme Speed anyway. And Azumarill is the main target of Thunder Punch. Tapu Bulu also messes up Dragonite without Fire Punch too.
- Iron Head's terrible.

Checks and Counters:
- Definitely need to mention that Fairy-types block Outrage.
- Just put Stealth Rock into "Chip Damage". You want to include annoyances like Iron Barbs, Rough Skin, Rocky Helmet, hail, and sandstorm that Dragonite is very vulnerable too.
- Status should be a separate bullet.
- Add Rock-types. They cannot switch into Earthquake or Superpower, but Dragonite cannot even revenge kill them with Extreme Speed and deal great damage with their STAB attacks.
- Add physical walls.

[OVERVIEW]

* Dragonite is a valuable asset to Dragon teams because of its ability to break through many opposing threats.
* Its base Attack stat of 134 allows Dragonite to break many opposing physical walls such as Skarmory after Stealth Rock.
- Combine these two, its overwhelming Attack stat is very important and should be at the top.
* Dragonite's bulk is also impressive, and the ability Multiscale generally ensures Dragonite can get off an attack against an enemy without being KOed first, notably surviving Magearna's Fleur Cannon with Multiscale intact.
- It doesn't necessarily ensure it lives a hit, Dragonite still dies to some Ice-type moves so use something like 'generally ensures' instead.

Moves

* Extreme Speed is powerful priority that can OHKO or 2HKO most frail offensive Pokemon that would threaten Dragonite such as Mega Sharpedo.
- Similar to the bullet above, just a small nitpick on your choice of words.
* Fire Punch is used to hit Steel-types that would switch into Dragon-type attacks, like Skarmory, Ferrothorn, and Mega Scizor, nets an OHKO on Bisharp, and has a high chance to OHKO Tapu Bulu after Stealth Rock.
- Why is Bisharp not listed like the other Steel-types? It's not like Fire Punch doesn't net a KO on Ferrothorn and Mega Scizor.

Set Details

* 252 Attack EVs, an Adamant nature, and Choice Band are used to allow Dragonite to break through most walls with Outrage, as well as give a chance to 2HKO Skarmory with Fire Punch. maximise Dragonite's damage output, giving it a chance to 2HKO Skarmory with Fire Punch.
- Outrage isn't the only thing that benefits from maximum Attack EVs.
* Although Multiscale halves the damage from an attack at full health, Dragonite still can be KOed by strong Ice- or Dragon-type attacks, as well as supereffective Z-Moves like Salamence's Devastating Drake.
- While I understand what you're trying to say here, this seems more like a Usage Tip. Say it gets access to Multiscale which halves the damage taken from an attack at full health, which generally makes it much easier for Dragonite to take hits but it still needs to watch out for Ice-type moves and super effective Z-Moves such as Salamence's Devastating Drake. Reword it however you want, you get what I mean.

Usage Tips

* Be careful to avoid locking Dragonite into Outrage when there are Fairy-types or Pokemon that can easily revenge kill it, like Azumarill and Kyurem-B. If Dragonite is locked into a weaker coverage move, it becomes setup fodder for enemies like Z-Belly Drum Azumarill and Mimikyu.
- Mention Outrage confusing the user after 2/3 turns after the bit about Outrage.

Team Options

- Move Hydreigon a bit higher, the core it forms with Dragonite is really important.
