Official NBA 16-17' Season Thread

i won't lie - i am a firm believer that harden should and get mvp but at this rate russ will prob get mvp. that game winner / trip dub vs the nuggets was insane
Yea I believe Harden should but looks like Westbrook will end up winning it.. poor Harden loses it in 2015 cause his team was worse and loses it in 2017 cause he didn't average 10 reb's

It's such a huge problem in the playoffs having Isaiah Thomas as your only offense. Was just talking about this yesterday with some others, he's getting paid $6.2m next season (after which his contract expires), and some team is probably gonna offer him a huge payday. It's an attractive contract to take on financially, but his liabilities are beyond repair (also, he's 28). If you're Danny Ainge, do you try to see what you can get in return in a trade or, because you're reluctant to offer him the max, risk losing him in the summer of 2018? The Celtics can take on some salary this summer with Amir off the books and the rise in salary cap, by the way.

And this is why Harden is a mvp. Russ' teammates literally kept em' in the game for the first 3 quarters - yet after he got those 11ast in the first half, it all went downhill from there. The narrative that Russ' teammates are trash is so blasphemous when his teammates don't even get a chance, especially in crunch time. Yeah there was an instance when Russ sat for a min, the Rockets went on a run in the 2nd half, but is that really an excuse to chuck shot after another shot? Did I mention putting Oladipo as a catch and shoot 3 point shooter is not his game?

mimimi yadda yadda Westbrook plays in a bad team mimimi yadda yadda nobody helps him mimimi yadda yadda

Boo Hoo to you, nigga. You are a MVP caliber player, you have to deal with it. It's very annoying that eternal excuse "Russ has a bad team around him" when neither he nor the coach knows how to make that team play effectively. If you are the MVP, then behave as such. Find fellows ind good position, guide them to play closer to the basket and not shoot long distance bricks. It pisses me off this protection to him at the same time that everybody want to elect him MVP. If you are in fact MVP, behave and be charged as such.

bc LBJ is goat and the pacers are trash outside of PG :(
hopefully they can hold onto the leads bc cavs are ew

anyone who thinks the celts are out of their series is a joke. cavs won't lose a game in the first two rounds as per usual. Toronto botching the first round is unsurprising, Milwaukee will be overmatched versus Cleveland, though. Houston can't compete w/ san antonio or golden state no matter how hard they play them in the reg. season.

Thunder need to step their game up if they want to take the series. They shot, what, 10% higher than the Rockets and still only won by two points?

Also, even though the Lakers remain bottom tier, I'll still have this image to remember this season by:

Celtics get a first round bye now that Rondo is out and the Bulls look lost on both sides of the ball. Butler isn't being a leader and Wade can only do so much nowadays.

It's a shame.

I wouldn't call it a bye. The Bulls are well coached and still have the best two way player in the series. Aside from this they also still have their main advantage being pounding the offensive glass and working the paint. Don't expect them to win w/o Rondo but don't count them out after a small portion like tonights game. The Celts essentially had their season on the line tonight and played desperate; not too mention they shot the ball incredibly well.
