Hacked parents

I used to use a Yanmega on my team, until I found out that it was hacked. I plan on breeding it with a Ditto to get a new Yanma, but I'm worried that somehow if a parent is hacked that the Pokemon will be shown as hacked.

(Idk if this has been asked before, I'm really sorry if it has.)

There's no way at ALL to tell the difference between a bred poke with hacked parents and one with legit parents. For all programing purposes, there is no difference at all, the offspring's coding is 100% "genuinely generated."

That said, most on smogon consider hacked children to be hacked on a moral basis.

Imo, having hacked parents is just as bad as hacking the pokemon itself because you can basically have kickass parents without the hastle of breeding them, which can be annoying. But its more about morals as anything because the coded information on the offspring is no different from a pokemon bread from a none hacked parent

If the hacker of the Yanmega messed around with sensitive data like its hex code, then those changes will show up in the baby; if the Yanmega was conservatively hacked, then its offspring are likely to appear as legitimate. Overall, I wouldn't take the risk.

I think "most" might be a bit of a stretch. There do seem to be a good number of people around here who don't really care as long as you're not doing anything outside the limits of what's normally possible in the game.

Realistically though, there's a 99.99999% chance that the hex wasn't messed with. On a moral sense, I'd start "fresh", but if you want you can use it.

How can you screw around with the hex code and any other sensitive data? Pokesav?

Most people don't particularly LIKE the fast egg hatch stuff, but will still trade for Pokemon made that way if they like the Pokemon.

Also, you still have to breed parents and etc when you do that. You're doing ALL the work of breeding including getting the parents and hatching many eggs, you're just doing it on fast forward.

EDIT: Really, doing anything beyond the normal bounds of the game (anything you can do with only the DS and the actual game)---i.e using AR for quick-hatch, hacking parents regardless of how good they are, etc. would be considered cheating.

Why the hell do you care if it's hacked?
Because some of us know that cheating at a game is both stupid and morally wrong. Use Shoddy if you want the IVs. >_>

If you think of it that way, AR cloning would be considered "cheating" too since you can't really clone in-game (or meant to, at least >_>). Sorry, just had to point that out. =P

I wouldn't go so far to say "morally wrong" when talking about a video game.

I can see the next presidential debate issue. Not abortion, nothing to do with gays, crime, none of that.

Action Replay.

Isn't there still in-game GTS cloning? =/

I don't use Wi-fi, so cloning is irrelevant to me. If so with AR, I wouldn't use it. ;_;

By "morally wrong", I don't mean it in the strictest sense of the phrase (i.e modern social issues), but the implications of cheating. By "morals" in this case, I mean things like stealing and such that little kids are taught are wrong, and cheating falls into this category.

Yeah, that's what I was talking about by "or meant to, at least." >_>
Exactly. I'm against AR cloning but exposing in-game loopholes is perfectly fine. You can clone with just a copy of the game and a DS, as per my own principles.

*ducks before flaming and hacking debate*

you guys talk about the hacking around here a lot O_O

anyway i can't stand hackers!!!! of any kind pokemon should be all nateral like joan rivers

hacking doesn't bother me

as long as nothing is illegal about the poke, it's fine

i mean, i would like to play around with a wondergaurd spiritomb once in a while though

Oh, I'm so glad you told us. I spent all day wondering what Mood4food77's personal opinion on hacking was.

Why does everyone feel the need to post the same exact shit in these threads? Has it not been discussed to death already? Use the search function and find the 10 other threads about this created in the last week if you want a bunch of worthless opinions.

If you want to know what the rules are concerning hacking, they are sticked in the wifi forums.

Woah woah... are you saying Pokesav does or doesn't screw around with sensitive data or hex codes? I know that's probably what most hackers use... Sorry, I'm kind of stupid in this subject.
I don't know full well really as I never used it for any experimental test run with it. Was you Yanmega hacked via Pokesav?

I'm guessing so. Everything looks perfectly legit, except my IVs, which are through the roof. Like, really impossible IVs. But I'm thinking that can be done with anything that hacks.

Does Pokesav mess anything up though?
