Introduction

Hi guys, this is my first RMT for SM. Mega-Lati was my favorite mon in ORAS, so once her mega stone was released I wanted to build around her. I would characterize this team as bulky offense with the main goal to allow volcarona to set up and win. I am an average player (at best) and managed to bring this team into the mid 1600s (I dont have proof of peak cause a. 1600 isn't that special and b. I spontaneously decided to post this team).

The Team

latias-mega.png

Latias-Mega @ Latiasite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

M-Latias acts as the utility knife and occasional win-con for this team due to its solid speed tier and SpA/D stats. Bolt/Beam has great coverage for almost anything and hits very hard at +1/+2.
Additionally, I chose Latias over Latios due to its added bulk (Tbh I didnt do many calculations
regarding this, but I tested the team extensively with both Latias and Latios and I felt Latias had better staying power throughout the match)

magearna.gif

Magearna @ Assault Vest
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Volt Switch
- Fleur Cannon
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power [Fire]

Pretty standard AV Mag. Used primarily as a special wall. On non-sub Heatran or on Heatran that dont sub on turn one, I like to volt switch into duggy for an easy kill. Other than that nothing too groundbreaking here.

landorus-therian.png

Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 236 HP / 252 Def / 16 SpD / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Smack Down

Lando-T is my physical wall and is able to come in on most physical attackers. I chose rocky helmet for chip damage on predicted u-turns/fake out/etc although I've debated leftovers for some form of recovery. The slow U-turn provides safe entry for volc, duggy, latias and overall keep momentum. I switched out HP Ice for smack down just cause I like to annoy zapdos, skar, cele, lando, etc.

volcarona.png

Volcarona @ Psychium Z
Ability: Flame Body
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Quiver Dance
- Flamethrower
- Giga Drain
- Psychic

Volcarona is the main set-up sweeper and the team's goal is to get this thing to set up and win. I recently switched to psychic over HP Ice due to struggles getting latias set up on toxapex w/o getting toxiced or hazed. +1 Psychium Z will destroy pex and usually lead to an eventual sweep.

kartana.gif

Kartana @ Leftovers
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Defog
- Swords Dance
- Leaf Blade
- Sacred Sword

A very underrated and surprising defogger in my opinion. A lot of opponents don't suspect a defog from kartana and it is usually fast enough to get a defog off in almost any situation - which is critical for allowing volcarona to set up/come in safely. I think I got this set from the creative sets board? (Possibly posted by p2)

dugtrio.png

Dugtrio @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Earthquake
- Rock Slide
- Memento
- Pursuit

Pretty standard scarf duggy set here. I went w/ rock slide over stone edge cause it still kills opposing (non-charti) volcarona and has better accuracy. I feel like scarf duggy isn't as common and can net a surprise kill on a weakened greninja (non-scarf obvi) as well as perform its normal trapping duties. The biggest downfall, however is the inability to trap and kill chansey.

Conclusion

In conclusion this has been a pretty effective team that I've had fun using. I hope y'all will use it and let me know what you think.

Threat List:
DD M-Gyara -- nothing really checks this if it gets to +2. Usually I'll either try to bring in lando a few times or sacrafice duggy w/ memento.

Unaware Clefable -- Never found out how to play around this if the opponent knows what hes doing.

Chansey -- Duggy being scarfed can't trap and kill chansey. Kartana is really the only mon that can take out chansey on the team so it is critical that you keep it healthy until chansey is gone.

Stall -- I suck at playing against stall

Rain -- pretty much gg from the start. I usually will lead lati and hope they leave their pelliper in to get KOed by t-bolt. If not, I almost always lose to rain.

Latias-Mega @ Latiasite

IVs: 0 Atk

Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 236 HP / 252 Def / 16 SpD / 4 Spe

I'd change your Kartana's item to Choice Scarf. It absolutely ruins rain, checks DD Gyara (though said Mon is rather irrelevant in the current meta), and while being locked into Defog is exploitable, it still removes rather reliably. With that, change SD to Aerial Ace, as it revenges Volcarona. Sacred Sword is a strong option as well to break Steels.

Now, you lack a strong physical wall breaker. Dugtrio is no longer necessarily, so let's replace that with CB Tapu Bulu.

Tapu Bulu @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Horn Leech
- Superpower
- Zen Headbutt
This mon breaks past Clefable (hammer OHKOes) and Chansey (nearb0hko with hammer). ZH is for Venusaur-Mega, which could cause some trouble for your team.

Hey, had a look at your team, and to be completely honest, it looks pretty solid. As you mentioned, it does struggle against a few things, but for the most part, it's pretty good. I did however make some changes to improve certain matchups:

Major Changes:

>
637.png

While Volcarona is a great win-condition. Due to the fact that Kartana is really frail and easy to wear down, when I was testing this, I often felt hesitant to bring Kartana in, and unfortunately Kartana's offensive typing isn't amazing, so it didn't seem to force many switches so I was also hesitant to click defog and would often end up sacking Kartana to defog as a result. Suicune however, isn't weak to hazards, and also helps your matchup vs rain, and quite often has an easy time setting up, it also is good for spreading burns around to physical attackers that might annoy mega Latios. The set I had in mind was just standard Vincune.
Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 24 SpD / 232 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Protect

Scarf Greninja was put here instead of Kartana, as I put Z move on Dugtrio and I wanted some good speed control. Scarf Greninja still gets to deal with many common threats such as Tapu koko, Landorus-Therian, Dragon Dance Zygarde, Volcarona and Gyarados, and you get brilliant momentum with u-turn. So naturally the set I had in mind was ripped straight from the analysis
Greninja (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Rock Slide
- U-turn
- Ice Beam
- Gunk Shot
Minor Changes:

Groundium Z Dugtrio is the best trapper the ou tier has to offer, and helps you out tremendously with your stall matchup, being able to trap and kill many fat mons with Tectonic Rage such as Chansey, Clefable and Toxapex. Once again, there's nothing fancy about the set, it's ripped straight from the analysis:
Dugtrio @ Groundium Z
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 21 HP
- Earthquake
- Screech
- Substitute
- Toxic

Also I changed the AV magearna spread to match the analysis which basically just took away some HP and added it to the SpA:
Magearna @ Assault Vest
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 200 HP / 56 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Fleur Cannon
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power Fire
- Volt Switch

Anyway, here's what the team would look like with the changes:
Latias-Mega @ Latiasite
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Recover
- Ice Beam
- Thunderbolt

Magearna @ Assault Vest
Ability: Soul-Heart
EVs: 200 HP / 56 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
- Fleur Cannon
- Flash Cannon
- Hidden Power Fire
- Volt Switch

Landorus-Therian @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 236 HP / 252 Def / 16 SpD / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- U-turn
- Stealth Rock
- Earthquake
- Hidden Power [Ice]

Suicune @ Leftovers
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 24 SpD / 232 Spe
Timid Nature
- Scald
- Substitute
- Calm Mind
- Protect

Dugtrio @ Groundium Z
Ability: Arena Trap
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
IVs: 21 HP
- Earthquake
- Screech
- Substitute
- Toxic

Greninja (M) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Protean
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Rock Slide
- U-turn
- Ice Beam
- Gunk Shot

I will have to admit that these changes to make you somewhat weaker to Shift Gear Magearna, since Greninja can't really run coverage moves that deal with that well, so you're heavily reliant on counterplay to beat it.

Anyway, I had a lot of fun rating this team, as well as testing it. I have to admit I've never used mega Latios before so it was quite fun seeing what it can do, I hope you liked my rate and I hope you enjoy the changes :)
