assassin's creed is more fun than Bioshock

Assassins_Creed_27.jpg

its not as pretty but it is definitely more fun. running on rooftops to assassinate an unprepared guard as he looks on the people below will never get old. neither will jumping from the highest place you can find into a cart full of hay. the game is just plain fun. the combat does get tedious at times when you can't escape due to the sheer number of guards. countering blow after blow gets boring after 10 or so. the bad ass kill animations kind of make up for that though. the game was kind of short in my opinion too, i probably logged around 20 hours of serious gameplay with a couple more of just messing around. hunting down the 60 templars got boring after the first 20 (which is where i stopped) and the flags are slightly better due to the fact that you have to do some cool free running to get most of them. overall i would give the game a 9/10 because i enjoyed just about every minute of it and the lead in for the next game in the trilogy was extremely well carried out. i also think the game has a really high replay value because you can do the assassinations in different orders and go about them in different ways. so, any of you guys get this game yet?

edit: that picture is a lot bigger than i thought it was :toast:

I still need to get it o_O I JUST MUST GET IT

lol, srry, but I previewed the game for a game site ;) and I really wanna buy it, just haven't got enough money yet :(

As a pretty dedicated Near East history guy I think the inevitable amount of historical inaccuracy would bug me a bit too much.

But godammit at the same time that setting is so alluring...

if its any consolation, the designers pride themselves on the supposedly accurate nature of the game. the bulk of the people you assassinate died in the very year you kill them in in the game (though in real life they werent necessarily assassinated).

obviously there are going to be some inaccuracies, but they deserve some credit for trying i think!

I would say that is failure. From what I have read the three cities involved are as historically accurate as you can get from ancient scripts etc. Infact, the muslim sect in the game (which you PLAY as) apparently actually existed. They actually DID remove their finger for a springloaded facerape of a blade...furthermore, ALL the targets in the game that you have to kill were killed by an assassin in that time period...or were thought to have been. In some cases, the assassins thought to be responsible were the ones featured in the game!!!

This game is so badass it makes my sweat turn to blood. My friend is buying an Xbox 360 just for this...yeah he has a good job haha.

Sounds really too similar to Prince Of Persia (Warrior Within & Two Thrones). That's a good thing though as I loved the two last games of the Prince Of Persia series.

This is out just for 360?

nope, also for PS3, but they say that one has some annoying bugs. If I'm correct, it also comes out for PC a little later

it really is nothing like prince of persia at all. the only similarity i can think of is climbing from building to building and running up walls but assassin's creed does it differently because it is integrated seamlessly into the gameplay instead of using it just to solve puzzles.

the only bug i have run into is every now and then you'll miss something you are trying to jump to because the camera angle is weird but that isn't really a bug in the code, its more user error.

You can't really compare Bioshock to Assasin's Creed. I loved Bioshock for the amazing story, graphics, and non repetitive gameplay (it is only repetitive if you choose to tackle each enemy the same way).

Assassin's creed is great but it gets repetitive as you do the same exact thing to gather info. each time. They only have about 5 options for gathering info. If you are such a skilled assassin then shouldn't they include something where you can break into someones house to get info?

Also I didn't like Altair's voice. Is he the only American sounding person living in the middle east during the 1000's?

altair's voice is out of place and made the conversations kind of weird and the information gathering techniques do get repetetive but the story and the graphics both give bioshock a run for some of the best on the 360. the final twist in the plot was outstanding and seemed to come out of nowhere but still fit perfectly and made the story come together as a whole as well as leaving enough room for a sequel, whereas in bioshock i guessed what was going to happen in the end about 2/3 of the way through the game. graphics-wise i don't think the two are really comparable unless you are just looking at details. bioshock definitely used a much more colorful surrounding with eye catching details but AC blows it out of the water when it comes to the mechanics of motion and the crispness of the environment. the way all of the people move and fight is incredibly fluid and realistic, even when enemies are laying on the ground spasming in pain it looks real. you can see the patterns of the cloth and the difference in materials between the poor, middle, and rich districts of each city. don't get me wrong, i absolutely loved both games but assassin's creed stands out with me with to its high replay value due to being able to choose how you take out your opponents. stealth or all out attack? kill the guards or the mark first? rooftops or ground? the possibilities are so much fun to consider that you spend as much time thinking about how to carry out your mission as the actual mission itself.

I was watching my brother play this the other day and had to wipe the drool off my mouth... But yeah, I'm really excited to play this game. Too bad I have to wait until Christmas :[

this is one of the main reasons i want a 360. most of the complaints stem from being repetitive and how altairs voice is out of place, and the latter could maybe be explained and is purposely made to sound american, i don't know. but the repetition can probably be explained here. just scroll down to the post that is titled AC and read the whole thing, and you'll probably learn why reviewers are only giving this average reviews. this, alongside a few other games (bioshock, halo, call of duty) is a huge reason i need to get a 360 asap.

I think they are making a sequel. However if it comes down to a sequel of Bioshock and a sequel of AC then I would prefer Bioshock. Unless of course AS2 would fix the repetitiveness of the missions. Maybe one mission could be overhearing on a bench and the next one breaking into someones house. If they add just a little bit of diversity between the missions then it would be the best game of all time.

Right now, the only reason I want to see a Bioshock sequel is because the game was pure awesomeness, but there feels like there is almost nothing to improve on and it can never get any better than perfection which is a little bit of a depressing thought. AS is already amazing but still has a ton to improve on, mainly the repetitiveness. AS has so much potential.

Also I figure that since you are replaying the memory, you here past self speaking as your present day self, which could easily explain the voice being out of place to you but not to any of the NPC's in the game.

assassin's creed is a trilogy that is supposed to span the life of the 360 and a sequel to bioshock would be bonerific

there is an explanation for the modern european/ american sound to altair's voice. in one of the side conversations with lucy (the girl who runs the Animus) Desmond asks why some of the character's voices seem out of place with the wrong accents. she explained by telling him that the animus translates the voices to the dialect easiest for the user to understand. near the end of the game altair actually says something in some middle eastern language.

i am eagerly waiting to see how or if they integrate a modern day urban setting into the game. such as a silenced gun instead of throwing knives and a motorcycle instead of a horse. it is definitely going to be interesting and awesome.

Its coming out for the ds soon -_- Lets see how it fairs up there... Yeah this game rocks, I love historic type games ;P
