Introduction:
Hello and welcome OU community to my 2nd RMT, "Flying Spam", based around a Gen 6 concept of M-Pinsir being paired with other broken mons that use Flying-type STAB, thus overpowering shared checks and destroying defensive cores. Here I attempt to revive the strategy with a Balance Team based around the offensive core of M-Pinsir + Tornadus-T, with a special guest appearance from Gastrodon-East, who is honestly the realest one out there. Now without further ado...

The Team:

pinsir-mega.gif
+
tornadus-therian.gif

Pinsir-Mega (M) @ Pinsirite
Ability: Hyper Cutter
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Return
- Quick Attack
- Earthquake

Tornadus-Therian @ Flyinium Z
Ability: Regenerator
EVs: 88 HP / 252 SpA / 168 Spe
Timid Nature
- Hurricane
- Knock Off
- Taunt
- Defog
The offensive core of the team. M-Pinsir and Tornadus-T are able to switch-in and take advantage of fat Grasses such as Bulu and Tang, and start wreaking havoc on the opposing side. M-Pinsir is able to force switches and SD up and start threatening the many Bulky Offenses lying around in the current meta, and gives the team a form of priority in Aerilate QA, while Torn can provide Defog support and stall break with Knock Off + Taunt. Because it carries Taunt, I can effectively weaken opposing Zapdos, stop them from recovering, then clean up with M-Pinsir. If you want to forego Taunt in exchange for Superpower or U-Turn, then it's probably a good idea to run Stone Edge on M-Pinsir to take out opposing Zapdos by surprise. I run just enough speed on Torn to out speed base 110's like Latios, its mega form, its twin Latias and its mega form, and finally Gengar (also M-Diancie, but you can't touch that shit anyways). The rest of the EVs go into HP, to allow Torn to soak up more hits, since things like Thundurus-I and Serp are really no where to be found so the extra speed isn't necessary.

gastrodon-east.gif

Zapdos @ Leftovers
Ability: Static
EVs: 248 HP / 236 Def / 24 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Heat Wave
- Defog
- Roost

Tapu Bulu @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 248 HP / 44 Atk / 36 Def / 112 SpD / 68 Spe
Impish Nature
- Horn Leech
- Wood Hammer
- Superpower
- Nature's Madness

Gastrodon-East (M) @ Leftovers
Ability: Storm Drain
EVs: 248 HP / 48 Def / 212 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Earth Power
- Toxic
- Recover
Three mon defensive core. Zapdos, Bulu, and Gastrodon are able to soak up hits from the opposing side and prevent mons like Gren and Koko from beating my offensive core. Zapdos is running a Defog set with Tbolt + Heat Wave and Static. The team is running double Defog for insurance against hazards since I have three SR weak mons. Not only does Zapdos relieve pressure off of Torn to Defog all the time, it's also able to deal with opposing M-Pinsir, Hawlucha, and M-Scizor. Tbolt over Discharge because it OHKOs opposing M-Pinsir, Heat Wave to check M-Scizor and Ferro since you can't PP stall Ferro since I'm using Static, which helps with M-Medi and U-Turn spam, but Pressure is also a viable option to PP stall SR Clefable. Another option is running HP Ice instead of Defog to help with the Zygarde match-up, and running a second Defog user in Kart since Smart Strike is mostly useless anyways (or run triple Defog LOL). Bulu is running AV, with a pretty intricate EV spread I'm willing to share. First off, the Attack investment lets it 2HKO Clef with Wood Hammer from full, 36 Defense Impish lets it eat two Specs Psyshocks from Lele, and the speed is for 176 speed investment Band Tar. Gastrodon is Gastro-East, because Gastro-West is ass, this thing relieves pressure from Bulu because it can also check Ash-Gren, most Protean Gren variants, and Koko, while also dealing with threats Bulu struggles with such as Heatran, Zapdos, and most Magearna variants. I'm running 48 Defense EVs to prevent Keldeo's Secret Sword from 2HKOing after rocks, and defensive Lando's EQ from 2HKOing from full.

kartana.gif

Kartana @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Sacred Sword
- Knock Off
- Smart Strike
I round out the team with some speed control in Scarf Kart, which absolutely loves it when M-Pinsir and Torn are able to weaken threats like Zapdos, Ferro, and Heatran, and it can start sweeping with Grassy Terrain boosted Leaf Blades. Smart Strike is mostly filler and can be switched to a more valuable option like Defog, Giga Impact/Aerial Ace for Volc, Toxic, basically what I'm saying is that Smart Strike is a dogshit option overall and generally not worth it, so it's a good idea to change it to something else.

I hope you enjoyed reading my RMT, "Nice For What?", and now here's the link to the PokePaste so you can all try it out yourselves!

Hey Felixx, pretty cool team you've built, and I really like the idea behind M-Pinsir + Tornadus-T. I think M-Pinsir isn't as good as before due to the popularity of Pokemon like Shuca Berry Tapu Koko, but Tornadus-T supports it very well thanks to Taunt + Defog, s it's fine. However, due to your lack of a Psychic resist (your only resist being Kartana, which has an awful SpD stat), Pokemon like Tapu Lele and Mega Alakazam, especially under Psychic Terrain, are threatening. AV Bulu may be able to take some hits but won't be able to check them throughout the game. Another Pokemon that I feel like is a threat, is Clefable. It can be very annoying for your team, with either Knock Off which removes items of both Gastrodon and Zapdos, or Calm Mind, which means Clefable's Moonblasts are harder to switch into, so Bulu can't afford to come in against that several times, and you can't really risk Kartana as Moonblast is a 2HKO, and probably an OHKO if Clefable succeeds setting up 2/3 CM. Also, I notified you lack SR, which is mandatory in OU, and helps pressuring a lot of threats in the metagame. Other than that, your team looks very good and I got some suggestions that you might want to try out so let's start.

My first major change and only one of the rate, Heatran over Zapdos, gives you a check to many threats I brought up. First, Heatran gives you a second Steel-Type, which helps dealing better against Psychic Spam, especially against Tapu Lele which generally runs Stabs + HP Fire. Heatran can have troubles dealing with Mega Alakazam, as it traces Flash Fire. That means Magma Storm doesn't touch it, and it can also run Focus Blast or Recover. So, your best check to Mega Alakazam is actually Gastrodon, which takes on its attacks better thanks to its great SpD. Secondly, it gives you a Stealth Rocker, something that was missed in your team. This prevents things like M-Pinsir from coming in too often. It also supports M-Pinsir by doing chip damages to the likes of Zapdos and Celesteela. Heatran also provides you a great answer to Clefable, being able to take on all of its sets. Lastly, Tapu Bulu's Grassy Terrain supports it greatly as Heatran's only form of recovery are Leftovers, and it completes the FWG (defensive) core in Tapu Bulu + Gastrodon + Heatran. For the set, I'd run a bulkier spread with some SpD investments.

Miniat_7_s_798.png
Minor change here, but as you said, Smart Strike is not that good ingame and it only helps against the likes of Clefable, Tapu Bulu, and Mega Venusaur, which are not threatening at all now in your team. So, you can probably try another move on it. Defog could help against the SR War, especially since I removed one of your two Defoggers in Zapdos. There are also other options like Aeriel Ace or Toxic but you already know that. Just wanted to agree with you, Smart Strike most likely needs to be replaced here.

Miniat_6_x_641t.png
Another minor change, but I think you can consider running U-Turn or Superpower over Knock Off. Knock Off helps supporting M-Pinsir by removing items of Celesteela and Zapdos for example, but that's what Kartana already does with Knock Off. On the other hand, U-Turn helps gaining momentum throughout the game, as you can pressure M-Pinsir's checks easier by U-Turning into Pokemn like Heatran against Celesteela or Zapdos for instance. Superpower is just an option to not be walled by Tyranitar. However, it's like not as used as before (if you decide to use it, change the spread as well to use smogon's one).

Miniat_6_x_423e.png
Last minor change, but I don't think you really need Toxic here, so I'd just consider running Mirror Coat over it. This is a nice lure to things like Mega Alakazam, Greninja, etc which is always nice.

Thanks for the rate, I just thought I'd be Defogging too much for SR to actually matter, and if I'm not mistaken that's the Cdumas Heatran spread, right? But anyways I'll it a shot.

Hey, nice team. Pinsir + Torn is an awesome idea. Torn + Gastro is also a great core that increased in use recently.

There are a few things that I think can be improved upon though, for example the team has no Stealth Rocks which is needed on most teams and would be useful on a team trying to wear down things like Zapdos, regardless of how many defoggers you have. The team might also have trouble switching into things like Medicham and Mawile (you do have Torn for Medi but if they predict it Ice Punch OHKOs).

MAJOR CHANGES

leftovers.png036.png> assaultvest.png787.png: The first change I suggest is running Clefable over Bulu. This gives you a decent answer to Medicham and also a rocker. You can also use the last slot to run Wish, which is a great support option to keep your team healthy. I don't think Bulu is really needed since you have Gastrodon to take on Tapu Koko and most strong water attacks.

leftovers.png485.png >leftovers.png145.png: With the above change the team gets weaker to Lele, so I suggest SpDef Heatran. This also gives you a switch-in to Mawile and non-HP Ground Volcarona. With Clefable, Hawlucha isn't as much of a problem.
(While I was writing this, Simia rated with the same change. I agree with the point on Clefable aswell.)

MINOR CHANGES

choicescarf.png798.pngDefog/Aerial Ace > Smart Strike: You already mentioned that another move could be used over Smart Strike. Defog is probably the best option to keep the double Defog. You can also try out Aerial Ace which helps revenge-Kill Volcarona and a weakened Pinsir.

127-m.pngFrustration > Return: This won't make a difference in most games, but if you end up facing a ditto (perhaps on stall) having Frustration means their ditto has less of a chance to reverse sweep if they left it at max happiness, which most people do.

End Notes

To end I wanted to mention that Kartana might be more annoying, but you can play around it with Heatran and Tornadus.
Opposing Pinsir might be harder to deal with aswell, so you'll have to try and limit it's setup chances, keep rocks up if possible and keep Tornadus healthy.

I hope this rate is helpful. Best of luck :]

Thanks for the rate! I'll look into using Clef, I'm actually a big fan of Wish support Clef already since it helps so much with keeping Tran healthy to stop a possible SD M-Scizor sweep.
