SM OU Balanced Team, could use second opinions! (2nd ever RMT)

This is a team I really enjoy using to be honest, and I've had some decent success with it as well. I've made quite a few changes but this is what I've found to be the most effective. Still really new to competitive pokemon, but I feel pretty solid about this team. I'm always open for second opinions, so please feel more than free to add your input, it would be much appreciated!

nidoking.jpg

Nidoking @ Focus Sash
Ability: Sheer Force
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Stealth Rock
- Earth Power
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam

Nidoking is a super good rock setter in my opinion. It can snipe unsuspecting Lando-T's with an Ice Beam, and has a nasty stab Earth Power. T-bolt is there for coverage, as overall I feel this team can be weak to rain so I decided to use that. Considering changing that to Sludge Wave, but idk yet. Using Focus Sash for the option of a suicide lead if need be. Lando-T's often don't expect Nidoking to survive an EQ so thats fun too.

Mandibuzz.png

Mandibuzz @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Overcoat
EVs: 212 HP / 240 Def / 8 SpD / 48 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Toxic
- Foul Play
- Roost
- Defog

Oof. Mandibuzz is SUCH an underrated physical wall in gen 7. Can defog away rocks if needed, reliable recovery with roost, and full immunity to Psychic. This thing is also a perfect answer for Zard X. You can switch in on d-dance, take a Flare Blitz quite well, and fire off a foul play, and Zard is dead (don't know if that kills without rocky helmet). It has decent special defense too, why this thing is in RU is mind boggling.

tapu koko.png

Tapu Koko @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 160 HP / 252 SpA / 96 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- Hidden Power [Ice]
- Volt Switch

OBLIGATORY SCARF KOKO. NOTHING TO SEE HERE. Nah but seriously, koko is straight up stupid honestly. With scarf and a small amount of investment in speed it outspeeds just about anything, even quite a few other scarf users (looking at you scarf lele). Hits SUPER hard too, and can be a solid lead with Volt Switch. Don't know what else you can ask for honestly.

Chansey.png

Chansey @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 244 HP / 252 Def / 12 SpD
Relaxed Nature
IVs: 0 Atk / 0 Spe
- Seismic Toss
- Toxic
- Heal Bell
- Soft-Boiled

Chansey is definitely a fair and balanced pokemon, I see nothing wrong here. Best special wall in OU? Check. Supports team with Heal Bell? Check. Reliable 100 damage with Seismic Toss? Yeah you get the point. Dead ass this pokemon is broken wtf. Has the ability to stall out with Toxic too, and I definitely don't feel like a douche when I do that, yep.

Mega Charizard X.png

Charizard-Mega-X @ Charizardite X
Ability: Tough Claws
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Dragon Claw
- Dragon Dance
- Earthquake

Zard X is definitely an okay pokeyman player. You all know the drill, dragon dance and kill things! (just watch out for mandibuzz lmao) I chose to run EQ over Roost just for some serious coverage, and honestly I've found that a lot of people don't expect it for some reason lol. Definitely open to the Idea of running a different Mega, but Zard X is just a really solid poke to run.

Azumarill.png

Azumarill @ Aguav Berry
Ability: Huge Power
Shiny: Yes
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Aqua Jet
- Belly Drum
- Play Rough
- Brick Break

H U G E P O W E R
Decently fat pokemon that has about 1700 Att after a Belly Drum? Wow that seems broken. Oh and it has a priority STAB move? Yeah that's cool. Obviously having Play Rough for that fairy-stab coverage is nice, and Brick Break for an unexpected coverage move. It also breaks screens which is never a bad thing. Aguav Berry restores 1/2 health once it hits 1/4 health too. Also did I mention 1700 ATTACK AFTER A BELLY DRUM. Huge Power is actually the most stupid thing in pokemon...and i'm kind of okay with it.

Hey cool team a lot of mons I like to personally use myself such as Mandibuzz and nidoking. I'm assuming this isn't a balance archetype but rather you are referring to the Pokemon on the team instead, as this is more BO.

I'm not going to change anything drastically but more suggestions for different sets though I do think Chansey is just another oddball on this team.

1. Use Normalium Z on your Azumarill. When you use Z Belly Drum it immediately sends you back to full health. I personally don't see a reason to use brick break unless you think Ferro is a huge issue. Otherwise run waterfall.

2. I would personally swap out Chansey for like Ferro or something. But if you like the mon so much, try using a healing wish set. You have quite an offensive team so it would be nice to get zard or koko to full. I'd replace that over heal bell.

3. Lastly maybe test out thunder punch on your zard because in terrain it hits hard. It is up to you what move to replace though i would swap out D-claw. Roost is something to consider. I put healing wish on Chansey it means you can be a bit more reckless but if you do swap it out then it might be worthwhile.

I hope these changes help, again I'll say I didn't set out to fully change anything but yeah my only recommendation is potentially try different walls over Chansey as it's a mon mainly for stall but can be a niche on an offensive team with wish/healing wish. I'm glad there are more people using Mandibuzz the goat, Good luck building in the future.

Hey dude, nice team. Although some of the choices for the Balance core might not be the best. So I'll suggest some alternatives.

MAJOR CHANGES

leftovers.png151.png> eviolite.png113.png: The first change I suggest is using Mew over Chansey. I don't really see Chansey fitting on a team like this that isn't close to stall. Mew gives you a great answer to things like Zygarde, Medicham, Lopunny and Bulu. I'm going to give it Stealth Rock which is relavent to a later change. The spread I'm suggesting has enough speed for Adamant Bulu.

rockyhelmet.png641-s.png> rockyhelmet.png630.png[optional]: Next I want to bring up the option to use Tornadus as your defogger. It provides you with more momentum thanks to U-turn and doesn't need to use roost thanks to regenerator. It also adds the utility of Knock-Off. You can choose between a bulky set with Rocky Helmet and a more offensive set with Flyinium Z.

leftovers.png423.png> focussash.png034.png: For the last pokemon change I suggest Gastrodon Over Nidoking. Gastrodon is a great SpDef wall that takes on threats like Greninja, Heatran and Tapu Koko who become threatening with the removal of Chansey. It also synergises well with your flying type.

MINOR CHANGES

choicescarf.png785.png Timid > Modest: For Scarf Koko I recommend using a Timid Nature with 216 Speed to outspeed Scarf Greninja. You can also test out Grass Knot over Dazzling Gleam to lure Swampert on rain.

006-mx.png Roost > Dragon Dance: I believe 3 attacks Roost Charizard is the better set on this team. I can see either working but Roost + 3 attacks is still extremely threatening and since you don't really have Wish/Healing Wish Support I feel the DD set might get worn down too quickly. But let me know if you think otherwise.

184.pngsitrusberry.png/ normaliumz.png > aguavberry.png| Spread Change: Lastly I suggest changing your item on Azumarill to Sitrus Berry, which restores health after you Belly Drum, or Normalium Z. With Z-Belly drum you restore your health to full before it cuts in half. I also changed the spread to max Speed instead of HP to outspeed things like Mawile, Skarmory, Chansey and Clefable.

To finish I wanted to bring up that this team still has a few weaknesses. Such as Psychic spam teams. Specs Lele is hard to switch into so try to keep Mew healthy and try to Toxic with Gastrodon. Alakazam might be caught off guard by Scarf Koko.

Try to keep rocks off the field if you face Volcarona or SD Scizor since Charizard is your best answer to them.

I hope this rate was helpful and good luck with the team :]

sup, nice rate, i was just wondering if u can explain to me whats the ev spread on the rocky helmet tornt for coz i'd like to know for my own knowledge/better myself with mons.

about scarf koko, its better to just run max max to outrun adamant dd zygarde at +2 and also timid kingdra in rain in case thats a thing. also i think its better to use uturn over hp ice to pivot out vs. teams with a ground type + av bulu so it doesn't sap momentum.

Tapu Koko @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Electric Surge
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Thunderbolt
- Dazzling Gleam
- Volt Switch
- U-turn

Hi, the EVs weren't made by me so I don't know everything it does. But it lives a +2 all out pummeling from Kartana from full.

For Koko I don't see much use in both U-turn and V-switch. I think one or the other is fine and HP Ice is useful for doing more to Zygarde and Lando

Appreciate it, I will definitely try other SpD walls over chansey, or run a healing wish set, that sounds fun haha. I'll mess around with the other suggestions too, again I appreciate it man :)
