[OVERVIEW]

The combination of Gourgeist-XL's typing and solid physical bulk allows it to check prominent Fighting- and Ground-types, such as Passimian, Medicham, and Rhydon. Gourgeist-XL is also a capable answer to threatening special attackers that lack the appropriate coverage move to threaten it, such as Heliolisk lacking Dark Pulse. Gourgeist-XL also has access to useful utility moves in Will-O-Wisp, Synthesis, and Leech Seed, letting it pose a nuisance to defensive teams that lack a means to dispatch it. Unfortunately, Gourgeist-XL is extremely passive and only fits on defensively oriented teams. Gourgeist-XL also faces heavy competition as a bulky Ghost-type from Palossand and Jellicent, both of which are less passive than it. Furthermore, Gourgeist-XL is an unreliable answer to Water-types like Slowbro, Slowking, and Vaporeon because of its passivity and vulnerability to status from Scald and Toxic. Although Gourgeist-XL's typing is solid, it still finds itself weak to common attacking types in Fire, Dark, Ice, and Ghost. Gourgeist-XL's weakness to Dark is particularly concerning, leaving it prone to being Pursuit trapped by Pokemon like Sneasel, Houndoom, and Absol. Gourgeist-XL's poor Speed stat can cause it to be easily taken advantage of by offensive teams, as it is easily threatened out by Pokemon like Incineroar, Sneasel, and Braviary, all of which threaten to OHKO Gourgeist-XL with super effective STAB moves. Gourgeist-XL is also threatened by powerful special attackers, such as Vanilluxe, Guzzlord, Choice Specs Whimsicott, and Sigilyph, due to its merely average Special Defense. Gourgeist-XL's most reliable source of healing, Synthesis, has extremely limited PP and may fail to keep Gourgeist-XL around in longer battles. Due to its weakness to common attacking types, extreme passivity, and exclusivity to bulkier teams, Gourgeist-XL struggles to carve a significant niche for itself in NU.

item: Colbur Berry
ability: Frisk
nature: Bold
evs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD

[SET COMMENTS]
Moves
========

Will-O-Wisp lets Gourgeist-XL burn physical attackers such as Passimian, Sneasel, and Medicham. Synthesis is Gourgeist-XL's most reliable means of recovery and lets it stave off chip damage from resisted hits, entry hazards, and pivoting moves like U-turn and Volt Switch. It is important to note that Synthesis's low PP must be monitored closely in order to get the most out of Gourgeist-XL. Leech Seed provides an additional form of recovery for Gourgeist-XL and lets it punish switch-ins that are immune to Will-O-Wisp, such as Incineroar, Houndoom, and Magmortar. Foul Play lets Gourgeist-XL punish Pokemon like Klinklang, Rhydon, and Samurott for boosting their Attack stats and is Gourgeist-XL's best form of direct damage.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in HP and Defense with a Bold nature makes Gourgeist-XL as physically bulky as possible, letting it reliably take on Pokemon such as Steelix, Medicham, and Rhydon. A Colbur Berry lets Gourgeist-XL take less damage from Knock Off from Fighting-type Pokemon like Passimian and Hariyama and minimizes the damage taken from Pursuit users like Sneasel. Frisk allows Gourgeist-XL to scout the items of opposing Pokemon.

Usage Tips
========

Gourgeist-XL should look to use Will-O-Wisp early-game on Pokemon that may try to switch into it, such as Sneasel, Guzzlord, and Ferroseed. However, be careful when using Will-O-Wisp if the opponent has a Fire-type or Xatu, as Fire-type Pokemon will absorb Will-O-Wisp, while Xatu will bounce it back at Gourgeist-XL by virtue of Magic Bounce. Look to switch Gourgeist-XL in on physical attackers that lack a coverage move to hit it for super effective damage, such as Medicham, Klinklang, and Torterra. Be wary of repeatedly switching in Gourgeist-XL against special attackers like Heliolisk and Sceptile, as even resisted hits can break through Gourgeist-XL's unimpressive Special Defense. Leech Seed can be used to gain back some health without having to use Synthesis and can chip common switch-ins to Gourgeist-XL like Incineroar and Shed Skin Scrafty. Make sure to scout Pokemon such as Steelix, Hariyama, and Silvally-Steel, as they can carry Toxic, which will severely neuter Gourgeist-XL's defensive utility. Gourgeist-XL may seem like a reasonable check to Water-types like Slowbro, Slowking, and Vaporeon, but it cannot risk being statused by Scald or Toxic. Synthesis should only be used when it's absolutely necessary, as its low PP compromises Gourgeist-XL's longevity. Foul Play should be used to threaten Pokemon like Klinklang, Rhydon, and Torterra that may set up an Attack boost.

Team Options
========

Gourgeist-XL fits on more defensively based teams, so other bulky Pokemon like Miltank and Cryogonal make excellent partners. Miltank provides a check to the Ice- and Fire-type Pokemon that threaten Gourgeist, while Cryogonal can clear entry hazards with Rapid Spin or Defog. Wish users, such as Mega Audino and Vaporeon, provide Gourgeist-XL with an extra source of recovery, as it isn't too difficult to wear down. Furthermore, both Mega Audino and Vaporeon can provide cleric support in the form of Heal Bell, which helps to combat Gourgeist-XL's susceptibility to status. Diancie is also a great cleric to pair with Gourgeist-XL because it checks the Fire- and Ice-type Pokemon that threaten Gourgeist-XL. Pokemon such as Steelix and Rhydon appreciate Gourgeist-XL's ability to pivot into Fighting-type moves, such as Passimian's Close Combat and Medicham's High Jump Kick. Hazard control from the likes of Xatu and Blastoise is crucial because Gourgeist-XL is vulnerable to every entry hazard.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Gourgeist-XL is a very linear Pokemon, and as such, there aren't many alternative options. Leftovers can be run instead of a Colbur Berry, but this makes Gourgeist-XL more susceptible to being Pursuit trapped and also causes Gourgeist-XL to take more from Passimian's Knock Off. Protect could be run to scout Choice item users like Sneasel, Vanilluxe, Passimian, and Guzzlord, although one of Gourgeist-XL's recovery moves would have to be dropped. Toxic could be run instead of Will-O-Wisp to pose a greater threat to Incineroar, but Will-O-Wisp usually provides greater utility. Seed Bomb is an option for specific targets, such as Rhydon and Samurott, but Foul Play is much more consistent.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Strong Special Attackers**: Pokemon such as Diancie, Vanilluxe, Choice Specs Whimsicott, Rotom, and Mismagius all threaten to deal heavy damage to Gourgeist-XL because of its average Special Defense stat. Vanilluxe is especially burdensome, as its ability Snow Warning lowers the amount of health that is recovered by Synthesis.

**Fire-types**: Incineroar, Houndoom, Magmortar, and Delphox all switch in for free on Gourgeist-XL's Will-O-Wisp and threaten to OHKO it with super effective Fire-type moves, although Delphox must be careful of switching into Foul Play.

**Dark-types**: Pokemon like Sneasel, Guzzlord, and Scrafty switch in easily on Gourgeist-XL, but they don't appreciate being worn down by Leech Seed or burned by Will-O-Wisp. Sneasel, Houndoom, and Absol naturally force Gourgeist-XL out because of their Dark typing, therefore making Pursuit trapping much easier.

**Flying-types**: Vivillon sets up with ease on Gourgeist-XL, fearing nothing other than chip damage from Leech Seed. Braviary and Dodrio threaten Gourgeist-XL out with a strong and super effective Brave Bird, and Braviary can also use Substitute to block a potential Leech Seed or Will-O-Wisp. Xatu and Sigilyph care little about Foul Play damage and are unaffected by Leech Seed and Will-O-Wisp because of their abilities.

**Taunt**: Taunt users like Comfey and Golbat can shut down Gourgeist-XL entirely, as they fear little from Foul Play and can proceed to set up or launch attacks.

**Status**: Toxic poison and burns from Scald and Will-O-Wisp are detrimental to Gourgeist-XL's functionality as a defensive pivot, as they will cause Gourgeist-XL to use Synthesis more often than it would like to.

Nicely done.

* Gourgeist-XL is also susceptible to every kind of entry hazard. This, along with the low PP of Synthesis, makes Gourgeist-XL easy to wear down over the course of a battle.
Between seeds and synth, I think saying its easy to wear down is a bit over stated here. I'd just have this part point out that synth has a limited number of PP and that might be problematic in longer battles.

* A Colbur Berry lets Gourgeist-XL take less from Knock Off from Fighting Pokemon like Passimian and Hariyama, while also letting Gourgeist-XL escape Pursuit-trapping from Sneasel and Houndoom once, though Unnverve Houndoom variants bypass Colbur Berry.
Pursuit Houndoom will always run unnverve so there's no reason to state it as "unnverve variants". I'd just remove the mention of Houndoom here as colbur wont help you against it.

* Look to switch Gourgeist-XL in on Pokemon it can easily handle, such as Passimian, Medicham, and Rhydon.
Thanks to its bulk you can safely switch it into most physical attackers in the tier unless they have a super effective move to hit it. I'd re-word this as you've stated these 3 mons together all throughout this analysis. Maybe change it to something like "Look to switch Gourgeist-XL in on physcial attacking Pokemon who lack a move to hit it super effectively" or something.

* Leech Seed can be used whenever Gourgeist-XL has a free turn against a Pokemon such as Passimian, Steelix, or Medicham.
Explain why I'd want to click Seeds, maybe to hit fire types I couldn't normally burn or that don't take a lot from foul play, or to regain HP.

* Make sure to scout against Pokemon such as Steelix, Rhydon, and Vaporeon, as they can carry Toxic which will severely neuter Gourgeist-XL's defensive utility. Additionally, while Gourgeist-XL seems like a reasonable check to Water-types such as Slowbro and Slowking, they often carry Fire-type coverage to hit opposing Grass-types.
Only one of those actually uses Toxic consistently. Vap is going to run heal bell and Rhydon doesn't run Toxic enough to ever really scout for. Replace with more relevant examples.

[OVERVIEW]* Furthermore, Gourgeist-XL's poor Speed leaves it easily abused by offensive teams, as Gourgeist-XL will be easily threatened out by Pokemon such as Incineroar, Sneasel, and Rotom, which threaten to OHKO Sneasel with super effective STAB moves.
- You could add a bit more examples of Pokemon that threaten Gourgeist-XL; the likes of Guzzlord, Vanilluxe, Sigilyph, and even Choice Specs Whimsicott can pressure Gourgeist-XL significantly.
- Emphasize that Gourgeist-XL's passiveness makes it easy to take advantage of, namely its inability to do anything to Xatu as well as being pressured by status too much to even serve as a response against bulky Water-types, which is an unfavorable trait for a Grass-type.
- You may even bring up competition such as Palossand and Jellicent, fellow Ghost-types that are less passive in comparison.

Usage Tips
========

Additionally, while Gourgeist-XL seems like a reasonable check to Water-types such as Slowbro and Slowking, they often carry Fire-type coverage to hit opposing Grass-types.
As I mentioned earlier, the threat of being statused by Scald or Toxic makes Gourgeist-XL an unfavorable check against bulky Water-types in general, much less those with coverage.

* A move like Substitute or Protect could be run to help against Pursuit-trappers like Sneasel and Houndoom, though one of Gourgeist-XL's recovery moves would have to be dropped.
* Toxic could be run instead of Will-O-Wisp to pose a greater threat to Incineroar, though Will-O-Wisp provides greater utility overall.
- Remove Substitute; it's hardly worthwhile due to Gourgeist's poor Speed. At least Protect can also be used to scout Choiced users such as Vanilluxe, Delphox, or Guzzlord.
- You can bring up Seed Bomb to respond to specific targets such as Rhydon and Samurott better, but mention Foul Play being more reliable damage against most other targets.

Checks and Counters

**Strong Special Attackers**: Pokemon such as Diancie, Vanilluxe, Guzzlord, and Whimsicott all threaten heavy damage to Gourgeist-XL because of its merely average Special Defense stat.

**Fire-types**: Incineroar, Magmortar, and Houndoom all switch in for free on Gourgeist-XL's Will-O-Wisp and threaten to OHKO Gourgeist-XL with super effective Fire moves.

**Pursuit-trappers**: Sneasel and Houndoom naturally force Gourgeist-XL out because of their typings with the risk of them using Pursuit.

**Ghost-types**: Rotom and Mismagius switch in on any of Gourgeist-XL's moves with little risk force it out. Additionally, Decidueye can switch in on a predicted Leech Seed and then set up with Swords Dance, though must be wary of Will-O-Wisp or Foul Play after setting up.

**Ice-types**: Sneasel and Vanilluxe both easily outspeed Gourgeist-XL and OHKO with super effective STAB Ice moves.

**Taunt**: Taunt users such as Comfey and Magmortar can shut down Gourgeist-XL entirely, fearing little from its Foul Play, and proceed to set up or launching attacks.
- Try to avoid repetition, things like Vanilluxe and Sneasel are mentioned more than once here . Be ready to expand the Special Attackers section btw as I advocate to remove certain sections. Also, emphasize Choice Specs Whimsicott as weaker Whimsi variants aren't quite strong enough to pressure Gourgeist-XL. Also emphasize Vanilluxe's Snow Warning crippling Synthesis's recovery.
- While Delphox dislikes taking Foul Play on the switch, it still serves as a fine Fire-type response to Gourgeist-XL.
- Honestly I'm not too sure about Pursuit trapping as a response, due to the defenses Gourgeist-XL already has in place for that. You might as well just change the "Pursuit-trappers" section to "Dark-types", move Guzzlord here, and include things like Scrafty and Absol. You can mention Pursuit users here afterward. Point out that most Dark-types dislike switching into a status move, as they either get crippled by burn or dislike getting worn down by Leech Seed. You may also point out that Malamar is NOT a Gourgeist-XL response due to its inability to accumulate power thanks to Gourgeist-XL's immunity to Superpower.
- I feel like the Ghost-types, more specifically Rotom and Mismagius, should be more included in the Special Attackers section as they don't particularly stand out in how they deal with Gourgeist-XL (compared to Fire-type's Wisp immunity and the ability of certain Dark-types to use Pursuit). Decidueye on the other hand is an extremly shaky check as it doesn't even want to switch into Foul Play, and almost never OHKOes with Sinister Arrow Raid to boot.
- Remove the Ice-type section for the same reason as the removal of the Ghost-type section; both the Pokemon in this section are also already mentioned in previous sections.
- Flying-types probably deserve their own section; Vivillon stomps it, Braviary and Dodrio threaten immediate damage and the former can use Substitute to block status moves. Sigilyph and Xatu especially do not care about anything Gourgeist-XL does.
- Since you mentioned Magmortar in the Fire-type section already, replace the Magmortar mention in the Taunt section with Golbat.

implemented, will write up asap

haven't done one of these in a minute, so bear with me.

Overview:
Sceptile still runs Hidden Power Ice (or Hidden Power Fire, but that one's a lot less common), so it isn't a good example of a special attacker that Gourgeist-XL is capable of taking on. Replace it with something like non-Dark Pulse variants of Heliolisk.

Usage Tips:
Maybe add something about how Gourgeist-XL should think twice about using Will-O-Wisp if Xatu / a Fire-type is still present, since the former can bounce back the move and the latter essentially gets a free turn.

Team Options:
Throw in a mention of Diancie somewhere, solid way of dealing with both Fire- and Dark-types that can also support Gourgeist-XL with Heal Bell.

Checks and Counters:
In my opinion, Toxic should be somewhere down here considering how annoying it is for Gourgeist-XL to deal with + how common the move is. Xatu could potentially be down here too, though that one's up to you.

qc 3/3, good work. got this done in less than 24 hours, so \o/

**Status**: Both a poison from Toxic and a burn from Scald or Will-O-Wisp Toxic poison and burns from Scald or Will-O-Wisp are detrimental to Gourgeist-XL's ability to properly function functionality as a defensive pivot, as they will cause Gourgeist-XL to use Synthesis more often than it would like to.

[OVERVIEW]

The combination of Gourgeist-XL's solid physical bulk and its typing allows it to check prominently used (prominent is also fine alone) Fighting- and Ground-types, (AC) such as Passimian, Medicham, and Rhydon. Additionally, Gourgeist-XL is also a capable answer for to threatening special attackers which that lack an the appropriate coverage move to pose a significant threat threaten it, (AC) like such as Heliolisk lacking Dark Pulse. Gourgeist-XL also has access to useful utility moves in Will-O-Wisp, Synthesis, and Leech Seed, letting allowing for (don't use allows for ever, either make it just allowing or keep letting, both are fine) it to pose a nuisance to defensive teams which that lack a means to quickly dispatch it. (can't imagine most defensive teams having a quick way to dispatch Gourgeist-XL, hence the removal of the word 'quickly') Unfortunately, Gourgeist-XL is extremely passive, (RC) and fitting only fits on defensively-based defensively oriented teams. Gourgeist-XL also faces heavy competition as a bulky - (RH) Ghost-type (AH + type) from Palossand and Jellicent, both of which are less passive than it. Furthermore, Gourgeist-XL is an unreliable answer to Water-types such as like Slowbro, Slowking, and Vaporeon because of both its passivity and the threat of vulnerability to status from Scald or Toxic. While Although Gourgeist-XL's typing is solid, it still finds itself weak to common attacking types in Fire, Dark, Ice, and Ghost,. (RC, AP) with its Gourgeist-XL's (changed to prevent extensive use of 'it' or 'its') weakness to Dark is particularly concerning, leaving it prone to being Pursuit- (RH) trapped by Pokemon like Sneasel, Houndoom, and Absol. Furthermore, Gourgeist-XL's A poor Speed stat leaves it can cause Gourgeist-XL to be easily abused taken advantage of by offensive teams, as Gourgeist-XL it is easily threatened out by Pokemon such as like Incineroar, Sneasel, and Braviary, all of which threaten to OHKO Gourgeist-XL with super effective STAB moves. Additionally, because of Gourgeist-XL's average Special Defense, Gourgeist-XL is threatened greatly also threatened by powerful Special Attackers special attackers, (AC, also capitalization isn't necessary here) such as Vanilluxe, Guzzlord, Choice Specs Whimsicott, and Sigilyph, (AC) due to its average Special Defense. Lastly, Synthesis, Gourgeist-XL's most reliable source of healing, Synthesis, has extremely limited PP, (RC) which and may prove problematic fail to keep Gourgeist-XL around in longer battles. Overall, because of Due to its weakness to common attacking types, extreme passivity, and exclusivity to very bulky bulkier teams, Gourgeist-XL struggles to carve a significant niche for itself in NU.

Will-O-Wisp lets Gourgeist-XL burn physical attackers such as like (not needed) Passimian, Sneasel, and Medicham. Synthesis is Gourgeist-XL's most reliable means of recovery and lets it stave off chip damage from resisted hits, entry hazards, and pivot moves like U-turn and Volt Switch,. (RC, AP) It is important to note that Synthesis's low though its PP must be monitored closely in order to get the most out of Gourgeist-XL. Leech Seed provides an additional form of recovery for Gourgeist-XL and lets it punish switch-ins that are immune to Will-O-Wisp, (AC) such as Incineroar, Houndoom, and Magmortar. Foul Play lets Gourgeist-XL punish Pokemon like Klinklang, Rhydon, and Samurott for boosting their Attack stats, (RC) and is Gourgeist-XL's best form of general active damage. (important to note the difference between active and passive damage)

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in HP and Defense with a Bold nature makes Gourgeist-XL as physically bulky as possible, letting it reliably take on Pokemon such as Steelix, Medicham, and Rhydon. A Colbur Berry lets Gourgeist-XL take less damage from Knock Off from Fighting-type (AH) Pokemon like Passimian and Hariyama, (RC) (why specify fighting types here? knock damage is weakened on /everything/ with colbur) while also letting Gourgeist-XL escape Pursuit-trapping minimize the damage taken from Pursuit users like Sneasel. Frisk allows Gourgeist-XL to scout the items of the opposing Pokemon.

Usage Tips
========

Gourgeist-XL should look to spread use Will-O-Wisp early in the battle onto Pokemon which that may try to switch into it, (AC) such as Sneasel, Guzzlord, and Ferroseed;. (RSC, AP) However, be careful when using Will-O-Wisp if the opponent has a Fire-type or Xatu, as Fire-type (AH) Pokemon will absorb Will-O-Wisp while Xatu will bounce it back at Gourgeist-XL by virtue of its Magic Bounce ability. Look to switch Gourgeist-XL in on physical attackers which that lack a coverage move to hit it for super effective damage, (AC) like such as Medicham, Klinklang, and Torterra;. (RSC, AP) however, Be wary of repeatedly switching in Gourgeist-XL too often against special attackers like Heliolisk and Sceptile, as even resisted hits can break through Gourgeist-XL's merely decent unimpressive Special Defense. Leech Seed can be used to gain back some health without having to use Synthesis and to also chips (use chip here and remove also for parallelism "can be used to gain back HP" "can be used to chip...") common switch-ins to Gourgeist-XL like Incineroar and Shed Skin Scrafty. Make sure to scout against Pokemon such as Steelix, Hariyama, and Silvally-Steel, as they can carry Toxic, (AC) which will severely neuter Gourgeist-XL's defensive utility;. (RSC, AP) additionally, while Gourgeist-XL may seems like a reasonable check to Water-types such as like Slowbro, Slowking, and Vaporeon, but Gourgeist-XL it cannot risk status being statused from by a Scald or Toxic. Synthesis should only be used when it's absolutely necessary, as its low PP causes it to run out quickly compromises Gourgeist-XL's longevity. Foul Play should be used to threaten Pokemon like Klinklang, Rhydon, and Torterra from that may setting up an Attack boost.

Team Options
========

Because Gourgeist-XL fits on more defensively- (RH) based teams, so other bulky Pokemon such as like Miltank and Cryogonal make excellent partners. Additionally, Miltank provides a check to the Ice- and Fire-type Pokemon that threaten Gourgeist, while Cryogonal can clear entry hazards from the field with Rapid Spin or Defog. Since Gourgeist-XL isn't too difficult to wear down, Wish users, (AC) such as Mega Audino and Vaporeon, (AC) provide it Gourgeist-XL with an extra source of recovery, (AC) as it isn't too difficult to wear down. Furthermore, both Mega Audino and Vaporeon both can provide cleric support in the form of Heal Bell, helping which helps to combat Gourgeist-XL's susceptibility to status. Diancie is also a great cleric to pair with Gourgeist-XL because Diancie it checks threatening the Fire- (AH) and Ice-type (AH) Pokemon for it that threaten Gourgeist-XL. Pokemon such as Steelix and Rhydon appreciate Gourgeist-XL's ability to pivot into Fighting-type (AH) moves, (AC) such as Passimian's Close Combat and Medicham's High Jump Kick. Hazard control from the likes of Xatu and Blastoise is crucial because Gourgeist-XL is affected by vulnerable to every entry hazard.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Because Gourgeist-XL is a very linear Pokemon, (AC) and as such, there aren't many alternative options. Leftovers can be run instead of a Colbur Berry, but this makes Gourgeist-XL more susceptible to being Pursuit- (RH) trapped, (RC) as well as and also causing causes Gourgeist-XL to take more from Passimian's Knock Off. Protect could be run to scout Choiced Choice item users such as like Sneasel, Vanilluxe, Passimian, and Guzzlord, though although one of Gourgeist-XL's recovery moves would have to be dropped. Toxic could be run instead of Will-O-Wisp to pose a greater threat to Incineroar, though but Will-O-Wisp usually provides greater utility. Seed Bomb is an option for specific targets, (AC) such as Rhydon and Samurott, but Foul Play is much more consistent.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Strong Special Attackers**: Pokemon such as Diancie, Vanilluxe, Choice Specs Whimsicott, Rotom, and Mismagius all threaten to deal heavy damage to Gourgeist-XL because of its merely average Special Defense stat. Vanilluxe is especially burdensome, as its ability Snow Warning ability (doesn't really matter, either works) lowers the amount of health that is recovered by Synthesis heals.

**Fire-types**: Incineroar, Houndoom, Magmortar, and Delphox all switch in for free on Gourgeist-XL's Will-O-Wisp and threaten to OHKO Gourgeist-XL it with super effective Fire-type (AH) moves, though although Delphox must be careful of switching into Foul Play.

**Dark-types**: Pokemon like Sneasel, Guzzlord, and Scrafty switch in easily on Gourgeist-XL, though but they don't appreciate being worn down by Leech Seed or burned by Will-O-Wisp. Additionally, Sneasel, Houndoom, and Absol naturally force Gourgeist-XL out because of their Dark-typings Dark typing, therefore making Pursuit trapping much easier.

**Flying-types**: Vivillon sets up with ease on Gourgeist-XL, fearing nothing other than chip damage from Leech Seed chip. Braviary and Dodrio threaten Gourgeist-XL out with the threat of immediate damage a strong and super effective Brave Bird., (RP, AC) Additionally, and Braviary can also use Substitute to block a potential Leech Seed or Will-O-Wisp. Xatu and Sigilyph care little about Foul Play damage, (RC) and are unaffected by Leech Seed or and Will-O-Wisp because of their abilities.

**Taunt**: Taunt users such as like Comfey and Golbat can shut down Gourgeist-XL entirely, as they fear little from its Foul Play, (RC) and can proceed to set up or launch attacks.

Furthermore, Gourgeist-XL is an unreliable answer to Water-types like Slowbro, Slowking, and Vaporeon because of its passivity and vulnerability to status from Scald or and Toxic. A Gourgeist-XL's poor Speed stat can cause Gourgeist-XL it to be easily taken advantage of by offensive teams, as it is easily threatened out by Pokemon like Incineroar, Sneasel, and Braviary, all of which threaten to OHKO Gourgeist-XL with super effective STAB moves.

Moves

Will-O-Wisp lets Gourgeist-XL burn physical attackers such as Passimian, Sneasel, and Medicham. Synthesis is Gourgeist-XL's most reliable means of recovery and lets it stave off chip damage from resisted hits, entry hazards, and pivot pivoting moves like U-turn and Volt Switch. Foul Play lets Gourgeist-XL punish Pokemon like Klinklang, Rhydon, and Samurott for boosting their Attack stats and is Gourgeist-XL's best form of active direct damage.

Set Details
========

Maximum investment in HP and Defense with a Bold nature makes Gourgeist-XL as physically bulky as possible, letting it reliably take on Pokemon such as Steelix, Medicham, and Rhydon. A Colbur Berry lets Gourgeist-XL take less damage from Knock Off from Fighting-type Pokemon like Passimian and Hariyama while also letting Gourgeist-XL minimize and minimizes the damage taken from Pursuit users like Sneasel. Frisk allows Gourgeist-XL to scout the items of opposing Pokemon.

Usage Tips
========

Gourgeist-XL should look to use Will-O-Wisp early in the battle early-game on Pokemon that may try to switch into it, such as Sneasel, Guzzlord, and Ferroseed. However, be careful when using Will-O-Wisp if the opponent has a Fire-type or Xatu, as Fire-type Pokemon will absorb Will-O-Wisp, (AC) while Xatu will bounce it back at Gourgeist-XL by virtue of its Magic Bounce ability.

========

Wish users, such as Mega Audino and Vaporeon, provide Gourgeist-XL with an extra source of recovery, (AC) (remove ac keep comma) as it isn't too difficult to wear down.

Other Options
=============

===================

**Taunt**: Taunt users like Comfey and Golbat can shut down Gourgeist-XL entirely, as they fear little from its Foul Play and can proceed to set up or launch attacks.

**Status**: Toxic poison and burns from Scald or and Will-O-Wisp are detrimental to Gourgeist-XL's functionality as a defensive pivot, as they will cause Gourgeist-XL to use Synthesis more often than it would like to.

I removed a lot a lot of erroneous double-spaces at the ends of sentences; you're only supposed to have one space after a period. I didn't mark these, so make sure you use the proper GP implementation method at spo.ink/gpvideo

[OVERVIEW]

The combination of Gourgeist-XL's typing and solid physical bulk and typing allows it to check prominent Fighting- and Ground-types, such as Passimian, Medicham, and Rhydon.
