Homosexuality

Well it makes sense to me that a homosexual man would physically be more similar to women than your average Joe.

I would think that genetics play more a part in homosexuality than whether one is a criminal.

I'm pretty sure the length of a man's finger doesn't determine their sexual orientation.

It's a secondary trait sometimes associated with homosexuality. Secondary traits are not always associated with the primary traits that they are tied to. This is the kind of point I was making in that quote. The purpose of studying these physical attributes is linking them to a likely relationship to genetics, as environment does not explain these physical features.

I'll say that it makes sense to me as well that the average homosexual man acts more feminine (unless he is the "male" of the couple if they're into that stuff), and I'm sorry that I can't give you square numbers m0nkfish. From real like experience, though, every gay I know acts feminine. Now, I don't see how that's a genomic trait.

Some of the studies seem broken in the first place. For example, under Psychological differences in gay men and lesbians. Of course the gay individual is going to respond differently to those pheremones - they're already gay. And just because the brain "responds" differently doesn't mean that it's genetic. Did they test those same people how they responded to those pheremones when they were little kids? No, and even if they did, it would be flawed, as they aren't fully developed and haven't gone through puberty. If gays really wanted to prove that being gay is a genetic trait, then they would check the genes of every child possible when born and then would look at it later and see if it was gay or not. But even then, those studies may be flawed, as the parents won't want their beautiful new baby labeled gay, and since the advance of freedom and gay rights, more and more people are becoming gay.

And what would happen if a 100% accurate way was found to determine if the child being born was gay (assuming that the "gay is a genetic trait" theory is true). Many parents would not want that baby, and if they decided to keep it, they would put all their effort into raising it heterosexually. Couples don't want to try to raise a child gay - they may later be fine with that child's choice to be gay, but if a heterosexual couple tries to raise a child to become homosexual, there's obviously something wrong there.

yeah. dykes do without exception I've seen cut their hair off, start wearing polo shirts and generally gain weight. this is not a joke. I used to go out on bristol's gay scene on something of a regular basis and I got ripped the shit out of for having long hair. they're a pretty intolerant bunch themselves.

not strictly true my best lesbian friend has long hair it just depends if you are 'in with the gay crowd' i guess

I'm not gay myself but if it is genetic, why do men realise they are gay later than when others figure out the girls are hot?

A lot of that could be societal pressures. Think about it: all your friends are interested in girls, you see people on T.V. saying "Homosexuals have the devil in them!", and then there's you, interested in guys instead. Of course you're going to keep that quiet.

From my experience this is hardly ever true, unless they stay in the closet for years which is not as common in my generation in canada. so im not really sure where you're coming from with that?

I don't know where you got that idea, but gay people realize they're attracted to the same sex during puberty. Young people who realize this are going to be reluctant to admit it due to societal norms like Obi mentioned.

All the gays and lesbians I know (except one dude... who was the son of a minister so I am pretty damn sure he wanted to doubt himself for a few years) realized they were gay in High School.

Anecdotal evidence of course.

Okay lol his question was answered four times, I think the point has been made.

That doesn't mean that they turned into lesbians because of that environment. They were obviously gay before that, and were only influenced by that culture after their self-realization.

This thread is going downhill fast and there isn't really a central drive to it anymore. Mostly it is just people spouting groundless beliefs about homosexuality... that isn't what we are looking for. If it doesn't improve soon, it may have to go. Before posting, please be sure your post ADDS something and isn't just a collection of random thoughts.

Yeah, the whole debate on whether it's right or wrong is going absolutely nowhere, and everyone is just wasting their time trying to convince others what to believe, or not to believe.

We could just discuss uhh... Difficulties being gay in today's culture, etc, etc.

Damn I thought maybe I might have something to contribute? That I met this one girl who said that she realized she liked girls around 12 or 13 or something. (even though puberty for girls is earlier than that, right)
Anyway what she said was that she HAD had feelings for a guy prior to that, so this brings something interesting for the whole genetic discussion.

but for sake of on topicness

she said that she went to a school dance with some girl, and then this huge group of fifteen or so people threatened to beat her up unless she agreed to leave
so
yea pretty difficult id imagine

I see a lot more 'support love, guy/girl guy/guy girl/girl' stickers (rainbow) of kids backpacks at school a lot, myspace etc. So I guess homosexuality is generally more accepted by teenagers, unless its
them being blinded by their hormones and not knowing what to believe etc heh

But I agree with the post that was on an earlier page, about society probably being more intolerant about gay PDA, rather homosexuality itself

im not denying that theres homophobes or anything though

yeah... this thread lost its way.

If you have a particular direction you wish to explore in this realm... go ahead and post a new thread. Make sure it is directed, with purpose, and more than a outlet for people to belch their feelings about homosexuality into the internet.
