Introduction
Hey, just started playing yesterday, and honestly I don't have too much idea what am I doing, I did lurk on the forum a bit though
I would be appreciated if you could point major weaknesses in my team and ways to handle specific threats.
Teambuilding Process
I threw something quiet random in the start, and than changed some pokemons when I felt I need to handle something, and ended up with this
The Team
Diancie @ Diancite
Ability: Clear Body
EVs: 4 Atk / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Hasty Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Diamond Storm
- Protect
- Moonblast
That's my lead I guess. tried a lot of things until I got to her, Araquanid and Smeargle for spinning webs, than Gliscor, and Mega Sableye who was actually fun, I Faked Out at the start without mega evolving to bait an hazard
But she seems more reliable. I generally get to set up the Stealth Rock, and if I don't know what to expect from the enemy lead I start with Protect She is also a great switch on dragons which otherwise I lack means to handle
Heatran @ Shuca Berry
Ability: Flash Fire
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Modest Nature
- Flash Cannon
- Lava Plume
- Earth Power
- Taunt
Heatran is just a general solid pokemon to my team. He can handle fire moves and disrupt sweepers from setting up, I mainly took him because I struggled with Tornadus Therian, Ferrothorn and opposite Heatran
I am not sure about the Shuca Berry, tried Air Balloon but I found out that it is popped way before someone earthquake me, so Shuca Berry allows me to survive like 30% of them
Latios @ Choice Specs
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Draco Meteor
- Ice Beam
- Defog
- Psychic
Initially, I took Latios as a defogger, but He is really useful at handling threats that even though I got another defogger, I kept him on the team
He is great for checking Zapdos, Keldeo, Chansey and Clefable
I didn't go for Calm Mind and Recover, and instead opted for Choice Specs, because I found out that I don't really have him for more than 1 turn, I always switch him in, drop a Draco against favorable match-ups, and switch out
So Instead I gave him more coverage with Ice Beam against fellow dragons. and just tacked Choice Specs
I kept Defog on him, because my main defogger struggles hard with Stealth Rock
Mantine @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Roost
- Toxic
- Scald
- Defog
My defogger and wall of choice
He is a superb specal wall in my experience, He checks ground, water, fire. He mainly is here to handle Heatran, Mega Charizard Y, Battle Bond Greninja and especially Volcarona
He is my defogger of choice, I don't really mind getting some Spike damage on him with roost. and he can really cripple some pokemons with Toxic and Scald burn
Tapu Bulu @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Horn Leech
- Wood Hammer
- Zen Headbutt
- Superpower
He punches things, hard
My tapu is mainly a wallbreaker, with maximum speed investment and pretty great attack, with 120 power STAB Wood Hammer, he can punch very respectable holes in the enemies
Horn Leech is here because I pulled some sweeps with him using Horn Leeches, if the enemies can't handle grass at all, he can wipe them all with that
Zen Headbutt and Superpower are here mainly againt Celesteela, Skarmory, Amoonguss and Mega Venusaur
Porygon-Z @ Normalium Z
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
- Conversion
My sweeper I guess?
Look, I'm really not sure about him, on the right game he can do some serious damage, but generally I find it almost impossible to pull off. I find out that generally my main winning condition is Tapu Bulu
If I manage to set him up, a priority adaptability STAB Shadow Ball is amazing, and the ghost typing gives him immunity from Quick Attack, which otherwise I always struggle with him against
Before I opted for Recover, but with Thunderbolt and Ice Beam, there is no pokemon that resist all of his attacks. so it is basically a full coverage
If someone has an idea for something more reliable than him, I would be happy
Conclusion
I have concluded, I don't know what to say here, it isn't a themed team and I am almost certain it has major flaws, overall I have general success with it. I would like to know what I can do better
Also, if the thread is not compliant with the guidelines, please let me know, I would happily edit, I'm here to get constructive criticism and I would not want you to struggle understanding my reasoning behind things
And last thing, My English isn't native, so excuse me for bad phrasing
Thank you for taking your time examining my team, as a new player who have very little idea what am I doing :)
