Checks and Counters
===================
**Entry Hazards**: All forms of entry hazards bother Chandelure and wear it down quickly and make it unreliable with taking hits throughout the match
**Pursuit Trappers**: Pursuit trappers like Alolan Muk, Krookodile, and Mega Aerodactyl can out speed Chandelure regardless of its item and threaten Chandelure with pursuit or a super effective STAB move such as Stone Edge or Knock Off, respectively.
**Kommo-o**: Kommo-o, especially Bulletproof variants, don't mind switching into Chandelure and only have to fear Memento or Z-Move to fear as Kommo-o resists Fire Blast and Bulletproof variants are immune to Shadow Ball
**Dark-types**: Dark-types in UU such as Hydreigon, Mega Houndoom, and Mega Sharpedo all resist both of Chandelure's STABs and can retaliate with their own STAB moves. Other Dark-types such as Krookodile and Bisharp threaten Chandelure regardless of their resists through offensive pressure with their STAB moves. Though, Bisharp needs to be careful with Sucker Punch against Substitute Chandelure.
**Revenge Killers**: Chandelure's high special attack stat means most offensive Pokemon won't be switching in, but a plethora of revenge killers such as Zeraora, Mega Aerodactyl, and Nihilego can KO Chandelure
**Specially Defensive Walls**: Umbreon, Snorlax, and Blissey all don't mind taking hits from Chandelure. However, Blissey needs to be careful against Calm Mind variants, and all of these Walls are crippled by Trick.

- Chandelure is a strong special attacker in the UU metagame
- Its Fire / Ghost typing gives a niche over faster Ghost-types like Gengar
- Can serve as a revenge killer or a lethal stallbreaker
- Chandelure in tandem with Substitute and boosting through Calm Mind is capable of breaking Stall staples
- Choice Scarf enables Chandelure to outspeed some faster foes such as Mega Manectric, Gengar, and Cobalion
- Is also able to check Infernape lacking Stone Edge due to its typing
- Held back by middling speed tier that leaves still out sped by fast threats like Mega Aerodactyl, Mega Beedrill, and Mega Sceptile even when using a Choice Scarf
- Hydreigon's prominence in the tier damages Chandelure's ability to perform well and can't be circumvented through Substitute like Chandelure can against Doublade or Gengar
- Struggles with the popularity of pursuit trapping and commonness of Mega Aerodactyl and Scarf Krookodile
- Chandelure is prone to being chipped down between its Stealth Rock weakness, absorbing U-turns, and setting up Substitutes

Moves
========
- Substitute lets Chandelure evade Toxic from the likes of Blissey and other status users and proceed to set up on them
- Fire Blast can be used over Flamethrower for more immediate power such as having a guaranteed OHKO on Mega Aggron at +1, but since Calm Mind Chandelure is most useful against bulkier teams that can't harm it without status this usually isn't worth the risk
Set Details
========
- Leftovers increase Chandelure's longevity as it will be losing health faster with Substitute
- Firium Z and Ghostium Z can improve non stall matchups and give it opportunities to catch Pokemon off guard.
- Flame Body provides utility against faster teams, threatening to burn against Pursuit, U-turn, or Scizor's Bullet Punch
- Flash Fire lets Chandelure pivot into Fire-type attacks without getting chipped down further and leaves more health for Substitutes
Usage Tips
========
- Try to keep hazards off the field to keep Chandelure as healthy as possible
- When forcing a switch, Substitute is the safest move, as it can evade Pursuit trapping, give Chandelure a free chance to fire a STAB move, or starting setting up Calm Mind.
- Entry through a slow U-turn or Volt Switch is ideal so Chandelure isn't taking unnecessary damage or crippled by Toxic or Thunder Wave
- Feel free to pivot into Pokemon that can't harm Chandelure much, such as Cobalion and Infernape lacking Stone Edge
- Switching in with hazards up is risky, and can prevent Chandelure from performing well
- Switching into status moves like Toxic or Thunder Wave recklessly severely cripples Chandelure and may make it deadweight
- If Chandelure is running a Z-Move, it should be saved for when Chandelure can catch Pokemon that could normally switch in or revenge, such as Mega Aerodactyl or Krookodile
Team Options
========
- Chandelure finds itself at home on bulky offense and balance teams that appreciate its ability to break bulkier team and gain from its defensive utility
- With Chandelure so easily pressured by hazards, pokemon that can remove them such as Empoleon, Hydreigon, and Gligar are essential
- Gligar, Scizor, and Hydreigon can all run U-turn and pivot Chandelure in safely
- Volt Switch users such as Mega Manectric, Rotom-Mow, and Cobalion can pivot in Chandelure as well.
- Pursuit trappers like Choice Scarf Krookodile, Choice Band Scizor, and Mega Aerodactyl can trap and weaken Pokemon such as Nihilego, Nidoking, and opposing Mega Aerodactyl that can usually switch into Chandelure and force it out for Chandelure to finish later
- Bulky Pokemon such as Amoonguss, Swampert and Hippowdon can pivot into the fast Pokemon that check Chandelure like Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Beedrill are helpful. Amoonguss stands out as it can reliably switch into Scalds and Knock Off while appreciating Chandelure's ability to check Lucario and Infernape more
- Other Pokemon that can switch into Knock Off and exploit Pursuit such as Terrakion, Cobalion, or Lucario all can capitalize on Chandelure's Ghost-typing. Unlike Terrakion and Lucario, Cobalion struggles against bulkier teams and benefits from Chandelure moreso
- Pokemon like Mega Aerodactyl and Mega Manectric provide a better matchup against offense while benefitting from Chandelure wearing down bulkier teams
- Stealth Rock users like Mega Aggron, Mega Steelix, and the aforementioned Swampert synergize well with Chandelure defensively and their hazards help wear down the opposing team

Moves
========
- Trick can disturb bulky pokemon trying to switch into a STAB attack, like Umbreon and Blissey
- Memento can provide set up opportunities for Chandelure's teammates
========
- Choice Scarf remedies Chandlures underwhelming speed stat somewhat and lets it outspeed pokemon such as Celebi, Mega Manectric, and Nidoking
- Flame Body deters Pursuit trapping while potentially punishing U-turn users, including Mega Beedrill and Scizor.
- Flash Fire allows Chandelure to completely wall Fire-types like Infernape lacking Stone Edge
Usage Tips
========
- Easily used as a revenge killer against Pokemon that usually will outspeed it like Mega Manectric, Celebi, and Gengar
- Can pivot into weaker attacks like Scizor's Bullet Punch or U-Turn and Fighting-type moves from Pokemon that don't have the coverage to threaten Chandelure like Nasty Plot Infernape, but switching into attacks is risky when Chandelure despises all entry hazards
- Don't use Trick or Memento too early should you need to revenge a faster foe later
- Using Trick on bulky Pokemon such as Hippowdon, Blissey, and Empoleon early game against slower teams can ease the match up for your wallbreakers
- Like other Choice-locked users, Chandelure is rather prediction reliant and can be easily exploited through its Ghost/Fire attacks, providing set-up opportunities for Pokemon like Mega Houndoom and Kommo-o
- Avoid getting locked into trick with the opponent switching into a Z-Crystal user like Kommo-o.
- Remain wary of potential switch-ins, particularly opposing Choice Scarf Krookodile that pivot into Shadow Ball and proceed to trap Chandelure
- Keeping hazards off the field gives Chandelure more opportunities to come in and check Steel-types
Team Options
========
- Fits best on balance and bulky offense teams that need a revenge killer and are capable to dealing with faster Mega Pokemon
- Set-up sweepers such as Scizor, Dragon Dance Kommo-o, and Mega Altaria greatly appreciate the support from Momento
- Other boosting Pokemon like Nasty Plot Celebi and Calm Mind Latias appreciate Chandelure wearing down their checks like Alolan Muk
- With Chandelure so easily pressured by hazards, pokemon that can remove them such as Hydreigon, Starmie, and Rotom-Mow
- Pokemon such as Togekiss, Empoleon, and Hippowdon that can take advantage of the faster Choice-Scarf users like Latias, Hydreigon and Krookodile make for good switchins. Remain wary on Krookodile clicking Pursuit, though.
- Wallbreakers such as Nidoking, Mamoswine, or Kyurem can take advantage of Chandelure's switchins

Other Options
=============
- The Choice Scarf also may run Energy Ball to pressure bulky grounds like Swampert or Hippowdon more. Though, they are already don't appreciate being crippled by Trick and Energy Ball misses out on the ability to bother Blissey and Empoleon
- Calm Mind sets can utilize Taunt in tandem with Ghostium Z for a slightly stronger match up against Offense, as Leftovers isn't needed with no Substitute cutting health
- Chandelure can run a hard-hitting Choice Specs set, but it suffers from its limited speed tier, lack of Substitute, and is revenge killed easier than its other sets.
