NOC Small Street Game Thread - Ended- TOWN wins!

it's partly WIFOM yes. But it's a discussion on what I think the most optimal move the mafia could have made is. Could they have made other moves, very much yeah. But on the onset, I think there's a few likely paths they took

-recruit a 4th member (seems likely)
-recruited 1/2 of the 'strong roles' (very likely)

-recruited a bunch of the middle roles (not really a huge incentive to leaving a bunch of points free as they ultimately don't do that much)

with that, I think the middle path is likely the one they took. It doesn't really do that much now, other than meaning we should never read that person as town for their role alone. But I think

but I think game theory type stuff should be kept in mind when it comes to claiming and when flips come around.

(also to further the 2nd point, if they did that, then they probably took roles either to blend in or roles that gave them utility. Role to blend in is near impossible to spot. But the public vanilla/one of the doctors or the gov are probably the most likely utility roles)

There’s definitely readable content, and more so than in rvs, but many people haven’t even showed up yet and it’s all WIFOM and trying to guess what scum did with no clues

I’m not saying there’s nothing to be found here but it doesn’t feel like much

word choice: is the "middle path" something you would take or something that you think the mafia would take?

also gotta keep in mind resources arent finite no matter what happens
 
I mean, at this point nothing is confirmed and won't be until the flips start coming. All of this was in response to mewtwo wanting to town read that person for their role which I disagreed with for these reasons.

if you want my opinion, there's two paths

play D1 like vanilla NOC and see what happens
or get
  • Vengeful (gains a vig the night after they are lynched) (-25)
  • Restless Spirit (may vote post death by pming host their vote) (-35)
  • Doublevoter (-45)
to claim since there's probably at least 1 scum in there

first path is more fun second path is probs more optimal, but imo i do think 14-3 seems incredibly bad for mafia no matter what they pull
 
but also playstyle, I hate trying to read 16 people so I'm going to shove some people aside for now and reduce it to a more reasonable number of people to try and focus on

i mainly dug into that because you had this terrible read on me in inv for different, similarly sort of generic reasons so wanted to see where that came from
