New additions to old PU mons: https://pastebin.com/c1Hdr2Sm

It is important to note that it is very likely that our opinions on what Gen8 PU will change dramatically as the generation goes on and we get closer to the launch date. Even so, I ask that you make your posts with thoughtfulness. Any posts that are not backed up with reasonable arguments are open to being deleted, as well as any posts about potential bans or any offtopic posts.

Aside from us having literally zero idea what the power level will look like which really muddies the waters on what Pokemon we'll get, here's a few things to keep in mind:

Dynamax is something we could potentially ban if need be. It may not end up defining this tier.
OU is currently debating if Sleep Clause should be a thing or what it ought to look like in this new gen. PU may not initially have Sleep Clause. However, it is a bit different for us. One of the arguments there is that all of the good sleep users have been snapped, but there's a much better chance we end up with a lot more things like Butterfree, Shiinotic, Roselia, etc.
Aurora Veil isn't banned yet and there are a few potentials including the return of Abomasnow or new users like Arctovish.
Baton Pass isn't banned yet but like, c'mon. It's getting banned. Have you seen these abusers? I'm not dealing with DD BP Drakloak or QD BP Bellossom or whatever else people think they're gonna run.
Arena Trap is not banned yet, so we could see some Trapinch usage. Not a big deal but while I'm talking about clauses and bans...

New mons:

Could Max-Waterfall Drednaw with Swift Swim have the potential to be a problem or no? It's hard countered by Ludicolo but for teams lacking that good power + good STAB combo + free Swift Swim boosts isn't something to scoff at. If Dynamaxing gets the boot though I could see this being in the tier. Looks like a poor man's Kabutops though.

Stonjourner could be cool as a poor man's Regirock (RIP my man). Although it has higher HP, Speed, and Attack, and it has moves like Heat Crash to fuck over Ferroseed. That being said though just squirting water at it can cause it to crumble.

Coalossal seems like it could drop here as well. Maybe I'm missing something but it has an awful defensive typing with mediocre offensive presence and bad speed. Plus its only form of recovery is Leftovers. Rapid Spin is nice but without Boots you're weak to the rocks you're asked to remove and without Lefties you get worn down more easily. Now that I think about it Coalossal reminds me of Armaldo a little bit.

Old mons:

Speaking of Boots though call me crazy but Avalugg sounds like it could actually be viable this time around. With Boots that removes the main reason it was a poor hazard remover, and it gains access to Body Press which is damn good for something with a gargantuan Defense stat.

Acrobatics is something that Ninjask needed for a while and honestly I can handle not being able to use Z-Dig anymore because Acrobatics SD will be fun as hell to use with all the Bugs, Grass-types, and Fighting-types that'll be roaming around.

Speaking of funmons, SD Rapidash sounds like something worth checking out. Ditto for NP Noctowl. I doubt Noctowl will be super good but with our even more limited Fire-type line-up Rapidash sounds like it could actually be good again.

If Kingler drops down I expect it to still be borked as hell lol. Thwackey's the only new mon that even has the potential to handle it. Same thing goes for Aromatisse or Cinccino though they have different "counters" so to speak.

Silvally in general having a powerful Multi-Attack is something to look at. Especially when it comes to classic sets like SD Silvally-Fairy.

Mons that we actually could end up losing this gen:

Mudsdale
Jellicent
Gastrodon (this one I'm iffy on honestly because of Dynamax Gyara shenanigans but still)

So why these three in particular? Well a lot of their competition has gotten the Dexit and they have shoes to fill because of that. On the other hand I have no idea of Pokemon that were NU or higher last gen that will be comfortably PU this gen. The pastebin lists Hitmontop which I guess I could see coming to here but that mon's a noob trap let's be honest.

PU will likely be almost entirely comprised of NFE's this generation, with only a handful of fully-evolved pokemon. There are only about 250 fully-evolved species in SWSH, and for the past three generations OU/UU/RU/NU and their associated banlists have comprised roughly 250 species. This sadly means that almost all fully-evolved pokemon will be spoken for before falling to PU, and what few do make it this far down will be the likes of Delibird, Cherrim, or Octillery. Needless to say, strong fully-evolved pokemon will be rare exceptions and we should probably look to NFE's to cover most roles in this tier.

There is one fully-evolved pokemon that is guaranteed to reach PU in one forme or another: Silvally. Due to species clause Silvally formes compete with each other for team slots, and it's much more likely that they will drop even in tiers where 570 BST is beastly. Silvally could very well be the defining pokemon of generation 8 PU, although it's very difficult to predict which typings will make it this far since it will likely be strongly influenced by the precise metagame dynamics in NU.

was bored so im just posting about some random mons i thought of when i was thinking of stuff that could go pu this gen. definitely gonna be mostly nfe-infested like darvin pointed out, possibly also silvally-infested but frankly i think a lot of silvally forms will either be in higher tiers or be too strong for pu, the multi-attack buff goes a long way. anyway (too lazy to look up the images for mons btw):

Linoone-Galar @ Choice Band
Ability: Quick Feet
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Double-Edge
- Knock Off
- Stomping Tantrum/Seed Bomb
- Parting Shot

the fact that we're gonna be dealing with a ton of NFEs this gen means that a lot of mons are gonna be carrying eviolite around. consequently, things that can spam knock off look to be very potent, and galarian linoone looks to be a prime candidate thanks to its dark STAB, great speed (base 100 in a considerably slower meta than sm), and added utility in parting shot. reminds me a lot of cb furret in adv pu (altho i dont think thats even legal anymore? idr). base 70 attack kinda sucks but i think its STABs and its speed will be able to carry it, should be a potent threat.

Coalossal @ Leftovers/Heavy Duty Boots
Ability: Steam Engine/Flame Body
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock/Spikes
- Rapid Spin/Will-O-Wisp/Spikes
- Stone Edge/Rock Slide
- Fire Punch/Flare Blitz

despite its great BST and access to SR/spikes/rapid spin this looks bad enough to go pu. rock/fire is an abysmal defensive typing, like, it sucks so bad, and it can't even take full advantage of the great STAB coverage too well due to having pretty middling attacking stats. still, with investment it should be mildly threatening, seems like it'd be a good idea to give it some firepower (switch it in on a fire type to get +6 speed, could make for funny scenarios) altho maybe a (specially) defensive set would end up being better in practice. in that case u could opt to go -spe nature and put flamethrower on it. this thing's movepool is kinda fun and the main reason why it could be ok but like damn this thing's a waste of potential. armaldo vibes

Cramorant @ Life Orb
Ability: Gulp Missile
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Surf
- Hurricane
- Defog
- Roost

hey look it's swanna except worse. depending on how good gulp missile is as an ability we might actually miss out on this thing but i wouldnt count on it too hard, this mon seems lacking to say the least. that dual stab looks threatening tho, it'll make some waves in pu if it drops

Cufant @ Eviolite
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Careful Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Iron Head
- Rest/High Horsepower
- Whirlwind

this thing looks potent just by virtue of being a steel type that is somewhat bulky with eviolite and not unlikely to drop all the way down to here. doesn't have much in the way of a movepool but it gets rocks and sheer force iron head to prevent it from being too easy to set up on.

random old mons:

Machoke @ Eviolite
Ability: No Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 Spe
Impish Nature
- Dynamic Punch
- Knock Off
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

just copying the standard sm zu set, no idea what it will actually run in practice but it seems like a safe bet that this thing will be in pu and will be fucking horrible to face. great bulk with eviolite, access to the coveted knock off, and a STAB that confuses everything. can't wait for this thing to get banned

Gourgeist @ Colbur Berry
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Impish Nature
- Seed Bomb/Leech Seed
- Foul Play
- Will-O-Wisp
- Synthesis

gourgeist will become a dominant defensive threat in pu for sure. some of them may move to higher tiers but im fairly confident we will get at least one gourgeist form (they're tiered separately). being a defensive ghost with the type of bulk to tank knock offs will make it a very valuable asset against fighting types, iirc it's one of the hardest stops to machoke in sm zu and it'll probably be the premier answer down here as well.

Delibird @ Choice Band
Ability: Hustle
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Icicle Spear
- Drill Run
- Memento

ok this thing will still suck but a girl can dream ok

Set dumps:

Morpeko @ Life Orb
Ability: Hunger Switch
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Parting Shot
- Aura Wheel
- Seed Bomb
- Stomping Tantrum

Okay so not gonna lie this doesn't look that terrible for a Pikaclone. 95 base Attack, a good speed tier, strong ass STAB, and solid coverage isn't something you can really throw shade at, and it has Parting Shot as well so it can pivot on even Ground-types. I prefer Life Orb so Ground-types can't completely cuck you when you're Full Belly but CB could work as well.

Seaking @ Life Orb
Ability: Lightning Rod
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Drill Run
- Waterfall
- Megahorn

Seaking can boost now and it'll probably still suck but maybe if you do dumb shit like throw it on Webs it could work. If we obtain Dynamax then Seaking can make good use of Swift Swim.

Charjabug @ Eviolite
Ability: Battery
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Sticky Web
- Volt Switch
- Toxic
- X-Scissor

Speaking of Webs Charjabug's one of the few things remaining that obtains them. One of the things it has over Shuckle is access to a slow Volt Switch making it so its easier to pivot in your Webs sweeper of choice. It's also not Taunt bait like Shuckle.

Glaceon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Freeze-Dry
- Ice Beam
- Shadow Ball
- Toxic

Glaceon getting Freeze-Dry makes it coverage suck slightly less and it's another thing you can put on Webs if you want. Shadow Ball is the only thing it gets that can even touch Cufant neutrally so that's why its on the set.

Noctowl @ Life Orb
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Heat Wave
- Hurricane
- Roost

Gamefreak's trying so hard to make Noctowl work but this thing gets Nasty Plot now. With Tinted Lenses and solid coverage with Heat Wave and Hurricane it could make for a neat wallbreaker.

So I decided to have some fun with the beginning of a new era for PU this time around! I was looking at all kinds of possibilities for the new mons from gen 8, the galarian forms, and even some of the older mons who are still in the limelight and decided to make a few fun, possibly viable sets (just humor me, it's the beginning of a new tier so crazy stuff is always an option).

Note: These mons are simply my opinion based on either what they were recommended to run as of last generation, what new moves they were given from generation 8, incorporating some of the crazy new items we have, as well as possibilities for new gen 8 mons that we haven't even had a chance to dabble with yet. Disagree with them if you want; I just wanted to have some fun because we have a while to wait before we actually know what will be in our beloved tier. :)

Unfezant (F) @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Super Luck
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- U-turn
- Night Slash
- Roost

***** This mon maybe won't stay PU now that it has a good Flying STAB and a Base 115 ATK lmao. What a shame this thing had to get good after the pokedex got Thanos'd.

Vespiquen (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 88 Def / 80 SpA / 88 Spe
Modest Nature
- Toxic Spikes
- U-turn
- Air Slash
- Destiny Bond

***** Just a fun option with some cool EV spread that allows Vespiquen to always outspeed Gurdurr and slow base 50s. EV spread also 2HKOs Max HP Gurdurr with Air Slash (reason this is important is because of Gurdurr now having access to being a guts-boosted defogger, not really minding 1 layer of Tspikes all too much). U-turn seemed nice for slow momentum since Vespiquen no longer has access to Heal Order or Roost. And Destiny Bond was kind of just a last move filler.

Image result for galarian ponyta

Ponyta-Galar @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Pastel Veil / Anticipation
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Healing Wish
- Low Kick
- Zen Headbutt
- Play Rough / Wild Charge

***** Seemed like a really solid option for a scarfer with Healing Wish. (I BELIEVE this is the fastest lower tier mon with Healing Wish outside of Galarian Mr. Mime, so that is pretty cool). Also doesn't have bad coverage or stats tbh.

Gurdurr @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Atk / 44 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Defog
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch
- Mach Punch

or

Gurdurr @ Eviolite
Ability: Guts
EVs: 248 HP / ??? / ??? / ??? / ???
- Bulk Up
-Drain Punch
- Thunder Punch / Rock Slide
-Mach Punch

***** This thing (so long as it stays PU, will always be a menace in the tier. But lol why does this thing get Defog now? Just a middle finger to Hitmonchan's only niche lol.

Image result for thievul

Thievul @ Choice Specs
Ability: Stakeout
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Parting Shot
- Dark Pulse
- Psychic
- Grass Knot

or

Thievul @ Focus Sash
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Dark Pulse
- Psychic
- Grass Knot

***** Seems like an interesting mon, although probably will not see a ton of play. Parting Shot is really cool though.

Drifblim @ Flame Orb
Ability: Flare Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Strength Sap
- Calm Mind
- Shadow Ball
- Thunderbolt

***** This mon seems way too good to stay in PU now lol. Strength Sap is literally what this mon needed. Hopefully the other tiers sleep on this one.

Corvisquire @ Eviolite
Ability: Unnerve
EVs: 248 HP / 216 Def / 44 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Brave Bird
- Taunt
- Roost
- U-turn

***** A bit more unconventional, but at least it seems like an okay Fighting resist. A nice Gurdurr check with Brave Bird, Roost (still resists Fighting because you are pure Flying), Taunt, and U-turn for momentum. Stats are shit though outside of speed.

Greedent @ Figy Berry
Ability: Cheek Pouch
EVs: 4 HP / 252 Atk / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Earthquake
- Fire Fang
- Body Slam
*****Amazing movepool and cool ability with cheek pouch, however it has a Base 20 Speed. Only thing notable about running Max Speed even with that horrid stat, is that it outspeeds slow base 50s. Again, amazing movepool, but no idea what to do with it. Trick Room is more probable.

Hattrem (F) @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Bounce
EVs: 252 HP / 236 Def / 20 Spe
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Calm Mind
- Mystical Fire
- Draining Kiss
- Psychic
***** Really cool mon with great coverage and an exceptional ability.

With the new Generation, I thought I'd give a few sets and my own 2 cents on some of the possible new PU mons!
1574080163192.png
Boltund @ Life Orb
Ability: Strong Jaw
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Thunder Fang
- Psychic Fangs
- Fire Fang
- Volt Switch
Boltund seems like a cool physical electric type in the upcoming generation thanks to access to Strong Jaw (and from what I've seen in the NU thread it doesn't seem like it's exactly head of the pack when it comes to electric competition). Thunder Fang becomes a decent 97 base power stab and Psychic/Fire is really good coverage to hit everything except a few choice mons like Claydol and Zweilous. It gets access to Bulk Up and Play Rough as well, so its only major issue in my opinion is 4mss.
1574080605145.png
Thievul @ Life Orb
Ability: Stakeout
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dark Pulse
- Psychic
- Parting Shot
- Nasty Plot
Thievul's viability really depends on 2 things: Dark competition and Fairies in the tier. Thievul isn't a terrible mon per se, but once you consider the fact that Liepard AND Alolan Persian are in the games it starts to look a little unfortunate for the poor thing. However due to power creep there's a good chance we'll lose one or both dark cats and Thievul will lack competition. Honestly with that in mind, its SpA isn't awful at 87, its speed isn't terrible at 90, and while its movepool is shallow it only really needs Dark Pulse and Psychic to function. It also gets access to Parting Shot which is one of the best pivoting moves in the game. It's not bad just potentially really mediocre.
1574082249463.png
Thwackey @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Surge
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Knock Off
- Drain Punch
- U-turn
When Thwackey gets its Hidden Ability released, it's actually going to be a complete monster. I'm not even sure it'll be PU but fingers crossed it is. 85 attack with Self-Setting Grassy Terrain means its Wood Hammer hurts a LOT of mons, and on top of that it has a decent 80 speed and u-turn. Honestly all its other moves are filler because 99% of the time you're clicking banded wood hammer and something is getting chunked. If PU does get it this is a crazy grass type to have.

Alright, I'll give this a whirl.

So, among the mons that Megazard listed as potential PU mons, I saw this one and devised a set:

Arctovish @ Leftovers / Heavy-Duty Boots / Life Orb
Ability: Slush Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Fishious Rend
- Icicle Crash
- Freeze-Dry
- Hail

Looks like a nice set in my opinion. Lefties could be replaced with Heavy-Duty Boots to avoid that nasty Stealth Rock 25% chip or Life Orb for extra damage. While Arctovish could potentiall go with either a physical attacking or special attacking set, I went mixed with Toxic. Fishious Rend is easily its best Water STAB and the reason why is if Arctovish goes 1st, the power doubles (85 -> 170) and then counting in STAB (170 -> 255) which is basically a far better Z-move. Icicle Crash is the secondary STAB move here to beat Grasses. Since it is a mixed set, I threw in Freeze-Dry to hit other Waters.

Unfortunately toxic distribution was gutted this gen as it isn't a TM or a TR so this and many other mons don't have access to it, pretty much limited to a few poison types that get it via level up. On a separate note raboot gets HJK and Sucker via ems so that could be pretty sick when it's HA is released, i guess.

More set dumps:

Lunatone @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Power Gem
- Earth Power
- Psyshock / Rock Polish

Another weird set-up sweeper but Special EdgeQuake isn't bad in the least. You can go Double Dance with Rock Polish over Psychic STAB if you'd like.

Solrock @ Life Orb
Ability: Levitate
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Stone Edge
- Earthquake
- Zen Headbutt / Rock Polish

Like Lunatone but much stronger due to being a physical attacker with stronger moves. Again you can swap Zen Headbutt for Rock Polish if you're feeling daring.

Also another thing that's been rumored is that Moody no longer affects evasion or accuracy. Would this ability be made legal in PU if this is true? It helps that the two Moody users that are in the Galar dex aren't super good or anything. (Octillery's better off as a TR attacker if anything and Glalie's not too great of a Spiker)

Talking about Galarian forms specifically this time instead of new mons:

Mr. Mime-Galar @ Eviolite
Ability: Screen Cleaner
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Ice Beam
- Nasty Plot
- Rapid Spin
Galarian Mr. Mime seems really strong. Like really strong. It's only 10 points weaker than Kantonian Mr. Mime and in exchange it's 10 points faster and gets access to eviolite for boosted bulk while still being able to run scarf, specs, life orb nasty plot, etc. I'm not sure how good rapid spin will be on it, but with the lack of good removers these days and the fact that spin boosts speed it seems decent with nasty plot for a great sweeper that can remove hazards.

Linoone-Galar @ Eviolite
Ability: Quick Feet
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Knock Off
- Double-Edge
- Body Press / Taunt / Thunder Wave
- Parting Shot
Galarian Linoone has a very diverse movepool with Knock Off, Normal stab, Fighting Ground and Poison coverage, and utility moves like Parting Shot, Taunt, and T-Wave to carve it a niche as a possible utility mon in PU.

Farfetch'd-Galar @ Eviolite
Ability: Scrappy
EVs: 248 HP / 252 Atk / 8 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Knock Off
- Brave Bird
- Defog
Honestly don't know if Farfetch'd will do anything. All I know is that it's a fighting with OK Attack, Scrappy, Knock, Brave Bird, and Defog which are all good things. Notably it's a lot worse than other fighting types, so I guess this is going to be the Thievul of this post and I'll just say "it'll be good with less competition." Again, Knock Off, Scrappy Close Combat, Brave Bird, and Defog are all great traits to have as a fighting type. It'll really depend on the fighting types PU has and the importance of Defog and Knock Off in the tier. Could be alright with all the eviolite running around,

Raboot @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Libero
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Flare Blitz
- Gunk Shot
- U-turn
- High Jump Kick

This could have a similar niche to Frogadier in ORAS (when Libero gets released). Good offensive pivot with strong moves and U-turn, only problem is rocks weakness which Frogadier didn't have.

Cramorant @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Gulp Missile
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe OR 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Timid OR Adamant Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hurricane / Brave Bird
- Surf / Liquidation
- Ice Beam / Superpower
- Defog

Scarf Swanna but slower and slightly weaker. On the plus side, it has Superpower for physical coverage to bop Ferroseed and other Steels. Downside for the physical set is that it doesn't get to use Gulp Missile, but it still could allow for some play in the sets.

Grapploct @ Life Orb
Ability: Technician
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Atk / 4 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Close Combat
- Sucker Punch
- Stomping Tantrum
- Brutal Swing

Idk if this thing will make it down here, but I'm going to abuse the shit out of it if it does. Super strong CC and decent coverage moves. Bulk is pretty good and the only real downside is the low Speed. Sucker Punch can help to make up for that.

Something also to take into note regarding Grapploct is its signature move Octolock. Provided Pyukumuku and Quagsire are PU again this gen Grapploct can pull off a set with Octolock and Substitute to trap them. Octolock's defense drops aren't ignored by Unaware and thus Grapploct has the distinction of being a decent stallbreaker as well. You can run Brutal Swing on this set so you can also trap Sableye. Though this set will probably become quite predictable.

As my first post on this thread, I thought I'd bring up a mon that appears to have a lot of versatility: Drakloak. It reminds me of other pre-evos from previous gens like Gabite with its pseudo evolution and Monferno with its mediocre offensive stats but access setup, priority, and U-turn. Here are some sets I think may be cool for it.

Drakloak @ Eviolite
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Dragon Dance / Swords Dance
- Outrage
- U-turn / Sucker Punch / Agility
- Steel Wing

This set allows for Drakloak to serve as either a sweeper or a wallbreaker, depending on which setup move you choose. Outrage is it's go-to move with Dragon's great neutral coverage, and if they have a Fairy mon you can lure them with Steel Wing. Otherwise you can choose between U-turn for extra utility or Sucker Punch for priority. That third slot is pretty versatile, with U-turn if you want some momentum, Sucker Punch for priority, and Agility to run alongside Swords Dance for double dance. You can also probably run something like Life Orb or Dragon Fang as the item, but I think Eviolite is better with Drakloak's low bulk.

Drakloak @ Eviolite
Ability: Cursed Body / Infiltrator
EVs: 176 HP / 252 SpA / 80 Spe
Modest Nature
- Draco Meteor / Dragon Pulse
- Fire Blast
- Will-O-Wisp / Thunder Wave / Toxic
- U-turn

I decided to go special with this offensive support set as its physical moves like Outrage lose momentum. It gets access to all three of these status inflicting moves, so you can go with whichever you want whether you're looking for Attack lowering, Speed lowering, or just some extra damage. The EVs allow this set to creep base 80s, do as much damage with its special moves as it can, and put the rest into HP. You can also probably switch the HP and Special Attack investments. I think Cursed Body might be nice for some disable shenanigans if mons have only one way to hit Drakloak, but Infiltrator is also nice for both attacking and statusing mons behind substitutes.

Drakloak @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive / Hasty Nature
- Outrage
- Draco Meteor
- Steel Wing
- U-turn

What a mon with access to U-turn without a Choice Scarf set? It's got two options to hit both specially and physically defensive mons with, each with their own different flaws and situations. U-turn is going to of course be on there for momentum. Steel Wing is a filler move but there are plenty of moves that can be ran over it like Fire Blast, Double Edge, Psychic Fangs, Breaking Swipe, Will-O-Wisp, ect.

Drakloak @ Choice Band
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant / Jolly Nature
- Outrage
- Steel Wing / Breaking Swipe / Phantom Force
- Sucker Punch
- U-turn

This set was inspired by Gabite's 4th Gen Choice Band set. It serves as a wallbreaker that takes advantage of already high Speed, hence why Adamant is slashed before Jolly. Similar to Drakloak's other sets, it has Outrage for STAB, U-turn for momentum, and Infiltrator for that situational times. Furthermore, it has various options for its coverage option. Sucker Punch is there because priority is always nice.

Drakloak @ Power Herb
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Phantom Force
- Outrage
- U-turn
- Dragon Dance

This set is pretty similar to the first Dragon Dance one, just thought I'd give it it's own set because it's slightly gimmicky and very specific when it comes to the moves and item, unlike the other one. Phantom Force is sadly not the best Ghost-type STAB, due to it taking two turns which can be taken advantage of by switching into Normal-types or running Protect. Power Herb gives Drakloak a turn to hopefully catch an opponent off-guard with it.

Drakloak @ Figy Berry / Eviolite
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 176 HP / 252 Atk / 80 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Substitute
- Dragon Dance / Swords Dance
- Outrage
- Steel Wing

This set tries to give Drkloak more setup oppornities with Substitute+Figy Berry. That being said, you can still run Eviolite for the extra bulk in hopes that moves will be less likely to break the Substitute. The spread has the same purpose as the special utility set, being made to creep base 80s, have maximum damage output, and has the rest in HP. Just max Attack and Speed with Jolly can also work I guess.

Drakloak @ Eviolite
Ability: Cursed Body
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Dragon Pulse / Hex
- Will-O-Wisp / Toxic
- Rest
- Sleep Talk

For the final set, this is simply a bulky variant that's meant to whittle foes down. I would love to run Restalk Curse on it, but it's a Ghost type so there goes that idea. The Special Defense goes well along with Will-O-Wisp, but you could also make it physically defensive if you want it to be a dedicated physical wall or just to go alongside Toxic. Finally, a fun fact is that Drakloak uninvested in Speed still creeps max Speed neutral nature base 70s by 1.

Pros of Drakloak: Good Speed, great setup options, nice support movepool, solid defensive typing, nice abilities, pivot move, priority move, will maybe have decent offensive stats depending on the meta(?)

Cons of Drakloak: Not the best STAB options, poor physical coverage, meh bulk even with Eviolite, will maybe have low offensive stats depending on the meta(?)

Overall, Drakloak looks like a fun mon to use in Gen 8, assuming it's not banned or in another tier by usage. But who knows.

I know I just posted but here I am again because someone in the PS room made me think. I might be overthinking this but it seems like a potential problem mon already.

Someone already mentioned this mon but I think we could potentially lose Ninjask with the addition of Acrobatics to its movepool. It finally gets a strong Flying STAB move which it had been severely lacking since its introduction. Especially if terrain setters like Pincurchin and eventually Thwackey end up decent down here. Its power may be lacking but with the ability to use terrain seeds to increase its bulk, it can more easily set up a Swords Dance. It may be walled by Rock and Steel types but if Dynamax stays as a mechanic, a boosted Max Quake can easily put a heavy dent in them. With the lowered power level this generation, this mon could definitely be a huge threat down here if certain things stay in the meta. Granted, this is all taken out of the picture if we don't get good hazard removal as Stealth Rock is still as dangerous as ever to this mon.

:ninjask:
Ninjask @ Electric Seed / Grassy Seed
Ability: Speed Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Leech Life
- Acrobatics
- Dig

tl;dr Ninjask is a big threat and if Dynamax and terrain setters last down here, it's gonna be very hard to take on imo

Silvally @ Life Orb
Ability: RKS System
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Multi-Attack
- Parting Shot
- Shadow Claw

A Slight update of its Sun and Moon Set.

With Multi-Attack receiving a nice boost in power(90 to 120) the set no longer needs to risk the damage from using Double-Edge.

Normal Silvally got a Double-Edge equivalent with no drawbacks + its Dynamaxing potential and, adding the fact that there are a ton of mons tumbling down on tiers due to the removal of Return and Hidden Power, I kinda expect Silvally leaving PU. But let's not launch the fireworks before the party starts.

We’re definitely getting some garbage silvally forms like Bug and Psychic, I can’t imagine every form will have a niche in upper tiers

Beheeyem @ Life Orb
Ability: Analytic
EVs: 252 HP / 252 SpA / 4 SpD
Quiet Nature
- Trick Room
- Psychic
- Signal Beam
- Thunderbolt

This Pokemon can be awesone in the tier imo with its high special attack, decent bulk and enormous movepool whit an acces to Analytic and ridiculously low speed it can be a decent trick room attacker or a good slow setup Sweeper with nasty plot or calm mind.

Ability: Swift Swim
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Swords Dance
- Drill Run
- Waterfall
- Megahorn

Seaking can boost now and it'll probably still suck but maybe if you do dumb shit like throw it on Webs it could work.

Charjabug @ Eviolite
Ability: Battery
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Sticky Web
- Volt Switch
- Toxic
- X-Scissor

Speaking of Webs Charjabug's one of the few things remaining that obtains them. One of the things it has over Shuckle is access to a slow Volt Switch making it so its easier to pivot in your Webs sweeper of choice. It's also not Taunt bait like Shuckle.

Glaceon @ Choice Specs
Ability: Snow Cloak
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Freeze-Dry
- Ice Beam
- Shadow Ball
- Toxic

Glaceon getting Freeze-Dry makes it coverage suck slightly less and it's another thing you can put on Webs if you want. Shadow Ball is the only thing it gets that can even touch Cufant neutrally so that's why its on the set.

Noctowl @ Life Orb
Ability: Tinted Lens
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Nasty Plot
- Heat Wave
- Hurricane
- Roost

Gamefreak's trying so hard to make Noctowl work but this thing gets Nasty Plot now. With Tinted Lenses and solid coverage with Heat Wave and Hurricane it could make for a neat wallbreaker.
Why would you ever run Swift Swim over Lightning Rod on Seaking?

Why would you ever run Swift Swim over Lightning Rod on Seaking?
If you dmax the seaking then max geyser from waterfall sets the rain up so it gets double speed and the rain bonus on waterfall (and your next max geyser). Seaking specifically because it's the second strongest physical swift swim water mon that PU had last gen that's returning in gen 8 behind Qwilfish who we probably won't get. If PU gets dmax then Seaking could potentially have a niche as a dmax sweeper thanks to said swift swim and attack stat.

The speculation of just what will make it to PU has continued, so I thought I'd say some of the mons I'd like to see return, specfically from the gen that I joined, ORAS PU. I'd like to note that these movesets are pre-Pokemon Home.

Mawile @ Leftovers / Rocky Helmet
Ability: Intimidate
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 252 Def
Impish Nature
- Play Rough
- Foul Play / Iron Head
- Taunt
- Stealth Rock

Mawile @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naughty Nature
- Play Rough
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Fire Blast

Mawile @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Play Rough
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Swords Dance
In ORAS, Mawile was a top pick for a bulky SR setter. On top of that, it was a great wallbreaker with its Hidden Ability, Sheer Force, alongside moves like Iron Head and Fire Blast. It also had access to moves like Sucker Punch and Swords Dance.

Leafeon @ Leftovers / Yache Berry
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Double-Edge
- Synthesis / X-Scissor
- Swords Dance

Leafeon @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Chlorophyll
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Double-Edge
- X-Scissor
- Double Kick
Leafeon gained a lot of usage in the end of USUM PU, thanks to its Z-Celebrate set. However, that set is now gone. Because of that, it's back to the good ol' ORAS sets, Swords Dance and Choice Scarf. Leafeon has passable stats in both Attack and Speed, making it a decent offensive threat, but on top of that it has great physical bulk giving it an easier time switching into things and setting up.

Chinchou @ Eviolite
Ability: Volt Absorb
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Scald
- Volt Switch
- Rest
- Sleep Talk
Chinchou's main niche in ORAS was walling Rotom-Frost, bar Trick from its Choice Scarf set, so it was a decent choice. In USUM, Lanturn was a big defensive threat for special attackers, furthered by its access to Volt Switch. Since this set can't hold Leftovers for recovery, it runs Restalk with Scald to wear down foes via Burn damage and Volt Switch for momentum.

Roselia @ Eviolite
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 4 SpA / 252 SpD
Calm Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Giga Drain
- Sludge Bomb
- Spikes / Toxic Spikes
- Synthesis
Roselia had only one time to shine in USUM PU, that being when Jellicent dropped and was seen as an immense offensive threat. But when that craze died down, it slowly withered down in the VR rankings. However, Roselia was a major defensive threat in ORAS, being able to wall top tier threat like Special Floatzel. While Floatzel is no longer with us, rest in piece, there will likely be new Water-types for it to wall. Access to Spikes and Toxic Spikes is also nice.

Lapras @ Choice Specs
Ability: Water Absorb
EVs: 248 HP / 252 SpA / 8 SpD or @52 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Hydro Pump
- Ice Beam
- Freeze-Dry
- Thunderbolt / Surf
Lapras was never the biggest offensive or defensive threat in any of PU's metas, but I'd say it's still a decent choice. It has great STAB coverage, and can be run either faster or bulkier. However, I'd say it probably will have a more mixed investment in the future. I'd say it's biggest flaw is its mediocre offensive stats, but I still think it's an alright option.

Basculin @ Choice Band
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe
Jolly / Adamant Nature
- Liquidation
- Aqua Jet
- Superpower
- Psychic Fangs

Basculin @ Life Orb
Ability: Adaptability
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpA / 252 Spe
Naive Nature
- Liquidation
- Aqua Jet
- Superpower
- Ice Beam
I feel like this is really Basculin's time to shine, with Floatzel finally being out of the meta, again, rest in piece. It has a high Speed and decent Attack, but where it really shines is in its ability, Adaptability. This allows it to hit really hard with Liquidation or even Aqua Jet. It also has great coverage options Between Superpower, Psychic Fangs, and Ice Beam.

Dusknoir @ Choice Band
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 212 HP / 252 Atk / 44 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Shadow Sneak
- Ice Punch
- Trick

Dusknoir @ Life Orb
Ability: Frisk
EVs: 212 HP / 252 Atk / 44 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Earthquake
- Shadow Sneak
- Ice Punch
- Will-O-Wisp
BIG DADDY. Dusknoir is another mon that has never been the best option in PU, and even in the new meta I'm not sure how it'll do, with its lack of good STAB. However, the rest of its movepool is great, with coverage like Earthquake and Ice Punch, and support moves like Trick and Will-O-Wisp. I set the investment to creep uninvested base 50s. BIG DADDY.

Mr. Mime @ Choice Scarf
Ability: Filter
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psychic / Psyshock
- Dazzling Gleam
- Focus Blast
- Healing Wish / Trick

Mr. Mime @ Choice Specs
Ability: Filter
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

Ability: Filter
EVs: 4 Def / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

- Dazzling Gleam
- Focus Blast
- Nasty Plot
Mr. Mime gained a niche at the end of USUM after Mesprit left, that being that it was the best Healing Wish user. However, in Both DPP and especially ORAS, Mr, Mime was actually a nice offensive threat. With its nice typing and decent coverage in Focus Blast, alongside support moves like Healing Wish and Trick, and a setup move in Nasty Plot, I could really see it becoming a top-tier threat again. Too bad it still doesn't get Moonblast.

Duosion @ Eviolite
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpA
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Psyshock
- Calm Mind
- Acid Armor
- Recover
Last but not least, by far, Duosion! As of now, Duosion does not have access to Signal Beam, making it pretty much fodder for Dark-types. However, I still see it being a big or at least decent threat based on how it's done in other PU metas like BW and ORAS. Double Dance lets it be a bulky sweeper, hard to take out without a Dark-type or a crit if it begins to set up. Just an overall good mon, no bias.

There are also other ORAS PU mons that I feel could make the cut, but I was too lazy to write that much about them or they just aren't too good. Sorry.
  • Vullaby - A bulky Defog user with a nice typing.
  • Vibrava - Another bulky Defog user with a nice typing.
  • Clefairy - Can run Special Defense with Stealth Rock or Calm Mind.
  • Pawniard - Can be run as a Swirds Dance user or and offensive Stealth Rock setter.
  • Gourgest-XL - Bulky with a nice movepool including Will-O-Wisp and Leech Seed.
  • Trevenant - Can run Choice Band and probably some other stuff, just please don't run Harvest.
  • Raichu - Can be run as a Nasty Plot setter and maybe some choice item, IDK.
  • Solrock - A physically defensive Stealth Rock setter with reliable recovery, though might be outclassed if we get mons like Coalossal.
  • Avalugg - Just an extremely bulky mon on the physical side, now being able to Rapid Spin without taking damage thanks to Heavy-Duty Boots.
  • Fraxure - A Dragon Dance user that did very well in the BW meta.
  • Klang - A bulky Shift Gear user that also did very well in the BW meta.
  • Zweilous - It can hit pretty hard with Choice Band Hustle, though the accuracy sucks.
  • Munchlax - With Audino gone and Type: Null possibly moving up to another tier, its competition as a specially defensive wall has lowered.
  • Glaceon - Probably still pretty meh, but it got Freeze Dry this gen.
  • Meowstic - Just its screen-setting shenanigans.
  • Dusclops - Not the best movepool but that bulk with Eviolite. Woo-wee.
Finally, these are some ORAS PU mons that might be a little, if not a more, overwhelming for the tier.
  • Rotom-Frost - It wasn't in DPP PU, was banned from BW PU, and was a top tier threat in both ORAS and USUM PU Now it has Nasty Plot.
  • Rotom-Fan - Definitely not as threatening as Rotom-Frost, but it also got Nasty Plot so who knows.
  • Drifblim - A decently fast mon with an alright typing and movepool has now gotten Strength Sap. Have fun with Calm Mind.
  • Beheeyem - In both BW and ORAS, it was a top tier offensive threat. With moves like Trick Room, Recover, and Nasty Plot, I could see it being banned if not already in a higher tier.
  • Dodrio - That mon got base 110 Speed, Swords Dance, and Jump Kick since ORAS. Frik no.
  • Pelliper - That mon got Drizzle in SUMO, and Rain in OU is as good as ever, so I doubt we're getting this mon back.
So yeah these are the mons I could see doing some stuff in our meta. Ok bye.
