Okay so first I want to be clear I'm not that good with smogons rule set when it comes to team building as im namely a battle spot/VGC player so my teams likely got some very noticeable issues though I did my best to patch them up. anyway with that a brief explanation of my team. Let me get into the Team itself below, TWI i want to let you know before you read below I namely play stall if I bother to play by smogons rules so I might have the wrong idea with some of the team.
Vanilluxe @ Choice Specs
Ability: Snow Warning
EVs: 4 HP / 252 SpA / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Aurora Veil
- Blizzard
- Freeze-Dry
- Ice Shard
My only hail setter. I decided on using a modest spec set over a timid light clay or timid icy rock because i'm not currently able to find space for a setup sweeper and in addtion I find spamming blizzard and freeze-dry to generally be more effective since it deals massive damage and is even able to 2 hit things like sp def clefable ( even if they protect ) ,all versions of Corviknight and more important it one-shots the weather setters for rain, hippo and 2 shots the sun setters and ttar which makes it more valuable then ninetails since I plan to play aggressively with this team so I decided to prioritize power over flexibility when it came to my hail setter. Ice shard is there namely because i needed more ways to pick off weaken targets it was explosion before that, but most of my other pokemon lack the power vaniluxe has so i decided to change it to ice shard. it does sometimes backfire on me since ice shard is so weak and i am spec'd but i think it helps me more then it hurts me.
Beartic @ Eject Pack
Ability: Slush Rush
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Superpower
- Icicle Crash
- Shadow Claw / Aqua jet
- Liquidation
My Primary Hail abuser of the team. I really wish Arctozolt had its HA as it would be better then beartic but I'm not gonna get into that here. beartic has Slush rush which is the same as Sand rush / Chlorophyll doubling your speed, the main downside here is in order to outspeed things like Zera and Dragapult ( if not holding a choice scarf ) you HAVE to run Jolly as in the hail it hits 436 speed which beats Zera and Dragapult speed tiers of 423 and 421 respectively. the idea with beartic is to Spam icicle crash and use the other moves as needed. the Reason for Eject pack is because in order to use this team effectively you have to play as aggressively as possible so i find eject pack allows me to do this pretty nicely as i can use it in the same way you would use U-turn / Volt switch only 99% of the time they won't Risk there Dragapult / gengar or Chandelure ( the 3 main Ghost i see on the ladder ) since if you use Icicle crash into a coverage move you'll knock all 3 of them out before they can attack you. i have shadow claw / Aqua jet listed because i can't decide between the 2 of them so i change them ever so often trying to decide. best you don't have it take on full HP targets unless its a pokemon that's not known for bulk such as dragapult that's weak to your stab attacks as otherwise you likely will not be able to one-shot it and be knocked out instead.
Mew @ Light Clay
Ability: Synchronize
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Encore
- U-turn
- Aurora Veil
- Taunt
So Originally i was using both Vanilluxe and Ninetails. However, after a while, i decided to change out Ninetails for Mew because i wanted a Veil user that wasn't weak to fighting type attacks and my only choices were Mew or Froslass. The reason for Mew over Froslass was simply because of better supportive moves. i couldn't think of a good move set for it since its main purpose is just to set up Veil and counter stall / bulky pokemon. decided on the encore and taunt namely because mew is fast enough to get one up on some annoying pokemon and force them to swap with the combination of moves such as bulk up Corviknight and forcing Conkeldurr into mach punch spamming allowing me to get up veil and u-turn out.
Dragapult @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Draco Meteor
- Fire Blast
- U-turn
Not a lot to talk about with dragapult i wanted a Pokemon that can force switches and had a fair amount of power behind its attacks. Originally it was a Choice scarf but i decided to change it to specs because I don't feel I need Scarf since the only time it helps is vs other Dragapults and I can handle that without needing to outspeed it with Smart team play and some aggressive switches. Though behind a Veil it can actually 1v1 other dragapults even if they use Draco meteor so that's worth mentioning i feel.
Cinderace @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Blaze
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Pyro Ball
- U-turn
- Court Change
- Sucker Punch
Originally a rotom-Heat as i needed something that could handle a Fire attack or 2 i decided to change to cinderace for one reason only, Court change. it lacks the Raw power of a spec's Overheat but its faster, has sucker punch to pick of choice pokemon, tanky enough to take a Fire attack if needed ( though i do wish it was Rotom-heat when against Sun teams since Voltswitch + overheats was perfect for that match up ) and U-turn i decided to go with this over it. heavy-duty boots since its main role is to throw hazards back at my opponents and sometimes to steal my opponent's Veil. be careful when you swap it in though since it can't Hurt things like Kommo-o , conk and hippo very well but it does the job well enough since most of the time its ability to threaten out pokemon. Also a way for me to revenge dracovish which is a bit of a problem for this team if it has a choice scarf. Additionally it's my only Direct way to kill ferrothorn , though I haven't had any major issues with this least for now.
Weezing-Galar @ Black Sludge
Ability: Neutralizing Gas
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Strange Steam
- Thunderbolt
- Will-O-Wisp
- Sludge Bomb
The only pure defensive pokemon on the team. Originally it was my Defogger but after doing a dozen or so games i decided to remove Defog for Wil-o-wisp. simply because it removes my own Veil. It kinda counters about half the metagame right now if you use it right. for example, it makes Conkeldurr physically unable to hurt me once its flame orb burns it as it deals around 15-20% to me and with black sludge i end up taking almost no damage at all. it allows me to make Toxapex weaker since i can spam thunderbolt until its para and then its basically useless since for those of you who don't know if you have Neutralizing Gas out when toxapex switches out its Regeneration ability won't give it back 33% of its HP. it can although to a lesser extent due to its mediocre spdef bulk help vs other weather teams. basically it's just here to soft-check alot of pokemon with its ability and be a general announce to my opponent.
Idk what else to put here so i guess to answer 2 things
1 i tried for like 20 minutes to add the animations from showdown here but i couldn't figure it out
2 if anyone wants to know i was able to get/use the team in the mid to low 1600s with some successes but it has some noticeable issues which i'll post below least the ones i know of
Weaknesses :
Scarf Dracovish: Basically its an issue because i can't easily tank a hit from it so i don't really have an answer to it , the best i have is beartic as under Hail I'm faster than it but that's about the only way i have to beat it and i picture better players will not allow that to happen.
Other weather teams: While not as big of a weakness as Dracovish is , you'll often find vs other Weather teams you'll be heavily relating on trying to get your hail setter safely in on the opponent's weather setter, which is easy vs sand but hard vs sun and rain ( though given that you one-shot Pelipper and are faster then if they shouldn't ever swap that in on you unless they predict the Veil which is a risky prediction ) though due to the amount of damage your team can do, it should be manageable most of the time.
Sub set up sweepers: This only happened twice but i find that if your not careful a single sub will kill this team depending on which pokemon it is
Hawlucha: so this is only a threat if you dont have weezing or if they get up a swords dance but i wanted to mention it here since it can very easily 6-0 you if it gets its power herb off , though it should be worth mentioning that if you hard swap in weezing and they use their power herb/seed they will not get the speed boost and beartic will outspeed in the hail as will Dragapult and Cinderace though i wouldn't count on this.
only another one i can think of offhand is more normal Veil teams. since this team will struggle to break it but its not impossible since dragapults attacks ignore Veil due to its ability.
anywho this is my current Hail hyper offense teams hopefully you can help me make it working since its got a win rate of about 60% give or take mostly due to overly aggressive and sometimes game throwing levels of attack but it works i suppose
