* 252 HP / 4 Def / 252 SpDef with a Bold nature: This EV spread gives Gastrodon maximum special bulk, and is usually run on stall teams to maximise Gastrodon's already stellar special bulk to take on even the strongest special attackers.

move 2: Earth Power
move 3: Ice Beam
move 4: Sludge Wave / Clear Smog / Mirror Coat

[SET COMMENTS]

* Gastrodon's naturally great special bulk and stellar typing allow it to check a wide variety of special attackers in the tier. This set uses this niche in order to help it threaten a wide variety of attackers in the tier, sacrificing sleep spreading and recovery in order to hit harder.
* Scald is Gastrodon's primary STAB, giving it decent coverage against the tier as well as spreading burns to weaken switchins. Hydro Pump can be used particularly on the Choice Specs set in order to hit neutral threats harder.
* Earth Power is Gastrodon's secondary STAB, allowing it to hit defensive steels.
* Ice beam is used as coverage to hit dragon's such as Dragapult and Hydreigon
* Sludge Wave is used primarily on the choice specs set coverage move on Gastrodon to hit bulk fairy's that might give trouble to it, such as Togekiss and Clefable.
* Clear Smog is used on the Assault Vest set in order to help Gastrodon to help check set up boosters better.
* Mirror Coat is used to punish special attackers that might threaten Gastrodon.

EV Spreads
==========
  • 116 HP / 68 Def / 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 68 Spe with a Modest Nature: This EV spread is primarily run on the Choice Specs set and allows Gastrodon to outrun neutral no speed ev Hippowdon. 252 Special Attack evs are run to allow Gastrodon to hit as hard as possible. The rest is placed into Gastrodon's HP and Defense in order to help it handle some physical attackers it might potentially struggle with.
  • 212 HP / 4 Def / 212 SpA / 4 SpD / 76 Spe with a Modest Nature: This Ev spread is primarily run on the Assault Vest set, and runs 76 speed to outspeed speed creeping Gastrodon and Hippowdon, as outspeeding these threats becomes especially important on AV with the lack of recovery. The set invests sacrifices a little Special attack in order to put more into HP to allow Gastrodon to take more hits on both the physical and special spectrum, allowing it to check a broader range of the meta.

[General Team Options]

Pair Gastrodon with pokemon that can pressure bulky Grass-types that Gastrodon typically struggle with. Offensively, pokemon that can make use of the status spreading that Gastrodon provides also form good partners to Gastrodon. Stealth Rock setters also form good partners, due to the amount of switches Gastrodon forces with scald and yawn.

Grass-type checks: :arcanine: :rotom-heat: :charizard: :incineroar: :cinderace: :venusaur:

Offensive sweepers: :mimikyu: :dragapult: :hydreigon: :togekiss:

Stealth Rock setters: :ferrothorn: :tyranitar: :excadrill: :hippowdon:

Good work bro. Couple of GP stuff that would be good to address now. All pokemon names capitalized (missed a few gastrodon --> Gastrodon). Referring to stats should always be capitalized (special attack --> Special Attack). Types are always referred as such (grass type --> Grass-type). Skim through and fix these. Items also capitalized (aguav berry --> Aguav Berry). Spell out Assault Vest.

Don't use bullet points, use "*", with a space after the *

Should look like this:

* This set functions uses Gastrodon decent bulk to spread status to the opposing team, as well as checking popular pokemon such as Rotom-H, Rotom-W and Excadrill.

For the EV spreads section, it should look like this:

EV Spreads
==========

From a QC point of view
1. Set 1: I would make Counter (and probably Mirror Coat) a mention and not a slash. Yawn is super important, and Im not even sure it would be the move removed, instead maybe the third coverage move choice. As a separate bullet too after all others have been mentioned. I would also include a secondary spread that is HP/SpD which is often chosen on dedicated stall, which tends to maximize the highest stat on defensive Pokemon (SpD in gastro's case)
2. Set 2: I dont like the 76 Spe on the second set. Just drop it to 68 like the other spread and redistribute. Creeping opposing gastro and hippo is not a real worry in the majority of cases, hippo will never invest in speed.
3. Team Options: Add incineroar/cinderace in the first part. Probably even more useful than Arcanine/Zard due to their ability to pivot. I would also consider Venusaur as a grass check, being double immune, immune to Whim's Leech Seed, and having a super effective STAB. For the Offensive Sweepers, I dont like Lapras there at all, due to overlapping type/coverage, you don't really have a teamslot to fit Lapras if using Gastro and vice versa.
4. I would add another section for Stealth Rock setters, due to the annoyance that Yawn + Rocks provides. Ferrothorn, and to a lesser extent Ttar, Excadrill, Hippowdon (in regards synergizing with Gastro's type) do this wonderfully.

Implemented

Implement both please and remove Venusaur from the "grass checks" list

Up to you, but no sun venu has been paired with a few water types, not gastro per se but there are high ladder examples with prim/quag. Examples here. I personally think its underrated and fits fine with dual grass weaks like Toad/Gastro/Quag. But if u don't wanna include lower viability mons even if they do have notable synergy I understand.
