Silvally-Rock @ Rock Memory

Jolly Nature

- Parting Shot

:silvally-rock: is a check to bugvally as it can come in multiple times on flamethrower and also on psychic fangs and bug multi-attack.
silvally-rock can dish out a strong multi-attack on its own and has a chance to ohko it after stealth rocks damage.
however silvally-rock has to win a speed-tie after bugvally is on +2 due to swords dance but it can still check silvally-bug with another
option in parting shot to lower its attack-stat and parting shot gives momentum as well.

calcs:
0 Atk Silvally-Rock Multi-Attack vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Silvally-Bug: 258-306 (77.9 - 92.4%) -- guaranteed OHKO after Stealth Rock

- Rapid Spin
- Body Press/Stealth Rock
- Flamethrower

Once again, I like to think of times if a victim can get the setup going. Carkol counters/stonewalls (hue hue) the pretender any way you look at it. The defensive investment allows him to withstand. All of its opponent's attacks do paltry damage, even after a swords dance, and the physical moves run the risk of burning (after 2 attacks, a 51% chance to be precise). From there, Flamethrower cooks it nicely. Take your pick of hazards and/or attacking coverage. Two layers of spikes greatly improve your odds, and 3 layers of spikes or a layout of Stealth Rock guarantee a 2HKO

252 Atk Silvally-Bug Multi-Attack vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Carkol: 41-48 (11.2 - 13.2%)
252 Atk Silvally-Bug Psychic Fangs vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Carkol: 39-46 (10.7 - 12.6%)
+2 252 Atk Silvally-Bug Multi-Attack vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Carkol: 81-96 (22.3 - 26.4%) -- 13.7% chance to 4HKO
+2 252 Atk Silvally-Bug Psychic Fangs vs. 248 HP / 252+ Def Eviolite Carkol: 77-91 (21.2 - 25%) -- 0% chance to 4HKO

8 SpA Carkol Flamethrower vs. 0 HP / 0 SpD Silvally-Bug: 134-162 (40.4 - 48.9%) --
97.3% chance to 2HKO after 2 layers of Spikes --
guaranteed 2HKO after Stealth Rock

I mean, you COULD swap in Fire Blast for the guaranteed 2HKO without the help of hazards, but I don't trust like that

Flamethrower is only a 4HKO on Klang, and Silvally-Bug needs to set up a few times for Multi-Attack to start doing any notable damage. Meanwhile, Klang can always 3HKO with +1 Gear Grind and take multiple hits with ease because of Rest. Because of all this, Klang counters Silvally-Bug.

Crustle @ Heavy-Duty Boots Ability: Sturdy EVs: 252 Atk / 4 Def / 252 Spe Jolly Nature - Shell Smash - Stone Edge - Earthquake - X-Scissor

check. you counter but only if they dont click multi-attack when you switch in, so yeah a check lol. sturdy allows u to take a hit from full, with hdb meaning sturdy stays intact when switching into entry hazards. u set up with shell smash and k.o with +2 stone edge, which idt i need to calc.

weak armor works here too, but for it to work they need to click psychic fangs the turn you switch in, making it pretty unreliable.

Dusclops is a counter against Silvally-Bug. Bugvally’s 2+ Multi-Attack alone can only 4hko Dusclops, even with stealth rocks at the field. Also, Multi-Attack does more damage than Psychic fangs. Dusclops can easily force Bugvally out in fear of Will-o-Wisp. The rest of the moveset makes sure your Dusclops isn't a sitting duck. And the SpDef is just to tank in special attacks.

Extra fun fact: You can still invest Dusclops more like a specially defensive wall while still countering Bugvally if you don’t care about the stealth rock factor.

+2 252 Atk Silvally-Bug Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 116+ Def Eviolite Dusclops: 69-82 (24.2 - 28.8%) -- 99.4% chance to 4HKO

(With Stealth Rock it will be in the range of 36-40% for one turn)

Will-O-Wisp Drakloak is a check to Silvally-Bug. It can safely switch into any attack Silvally uses and, due to its better Speed tier, can even switch into an SD and burn it on the next turn. It is only at best 3HKO'd by Silvally, while Drakloak has an almost guaranteed 2HKO with Fire Blast after burn damage (or a guaranteed 3HKO with Hex if you don't want to risk Fire Blast missing) and due to Silvally-Bug's weakness to Stealth Rock, it's not too hard to chip it in range of the Hex 2HKO. I almost considered nominating Drakloak as a counter, but due to Will-O-Wisp and Fire Blast having less than perfect accuracy, and Drakloak not having reliable recovery to switch in multiple times, it's sadly only a check.

Pyumuku is a counter of BugVally, due to its great defensive bulky it is very difficult to get rid of it in addition to not being able to do Set-up with SD due to the Unaware ability that ignores the changes of stats, with Counter it can return the attacks Physicals such as Multi Attack or Psychic fangs and Toxic to wear it down in addition to having access to recover to recover the damage received, you can use Spite to pp stall soak to change the types to some other ghost / steel mon or a mon that is necessary to knock it down or mirror coat to return special attacks, that makes it a great counter for Sillbaly Bug.

Heatmor serves as an excellent counter to Bugvally due to its ability to come in and shut it down with utility or simply 2HKO with Fire Blast. WoW allows Heatmor to halve Bugvally’s Attack, causing it to do even less damage than usual, Giga Drain is there mainly for other mons in the meta, but in a pinch can do minimal damage to Bugvally. Finally, Taunt crushes Bugvally’s hopes of setting up. The given spread allows it to take barely and damage from most attacks while still being able to 2HKO with Fire Blast.

though a niche pick, vullaby can serve as a defensive counter to bugvally. with no boosts, bugvally is doing under 1/3 of your hp, and foul play does a ton back, and has a higher damage output as bugvally goes for SD. it can even survive a +2 multi-attack and ohko vally back with rocks or prior damage. however, multi-attack at +2 is a 2hko, so you definitely have to play correctly vs your opponent.

nominating scarf lampent as an offensive check to bug-vally. modest doesnt outspeed with scarf so you gotta run timid nature. fire blast is the stab of choice over flamethrower: it has a chance to ohko and is a guaranteed okho with rocks up. flash fire allows you to get a boost on vally's flamethrower if you predict correctly but it does almost no damage regardless, so infiltrator could be a neat pick to bypass screens, and i guess flame body could work too. lampent's frail 60/60/60 defenses mean that it takes big damage from a strong physical attacker like bug-vally, especially with rocks up.

Mawile @ Assault Vest
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 HP / 4 Atk / 4 Def / 248 SpD
Adamant Nature
- Iron Head
- Sucker Punch
- Play Rough
- Rock Slide

Nominating Mawile as a check. You've heard of physically defensive Mawile, but have you heard of specially defensive Mawile? Admittedly, Mawile needs to be fully invested in Special Defense to pull this off, but this spread turns Flamethrower into an almost guaranteed 4HKO.
0- SpA Silvally-Bug Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 248 SpD Assault Vest Mawile: 86-102 (28.2 - 33.5%) -- 0.1% chance to 3HKO
0- SpA Silvally-Bug Flamethrower vs. 252 HP / 248 SpD Assault Vest Mawile: 86-102 (28.2 - 33.5%) -- 25.5% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock

In return, Mawile can comfortably 3HKO with either Rock Slide or Play Rough.
4+ Atk Sheer Force Mawile Play Rough vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Silvally-Bug: 127-150 (38.3 - 45.3%) -- guaranteed 3HKO
4+ Atk Sheer Force Mawile Rock Slide vs. 0 HP / 4 Def Silvally-Bug: 142-168 (42.9 - 50.7%) -- 2.3% chance to 2HKO
Both of which turn into guaranteed 2HKOs if Bugvally comes in on Stealth Rocks.

In my opinion, the best part of this set is the potential for mind games. After Swords Dance, Multi-Attack will actually do more damage than Flamethrower (barely), but because it would crazy to run Mawile with maxed Special bulk instead of Phys Def, your opponent will (likely) never click Multi-Attack.
+2 252 Atk Silvally-Bug Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Mawile: 90-106 (29.6 - 34.8%) -- 10.7% chance to 3HKO
+2 252 Atk Silvally-Bug Multi-Attack vs. 252 HP / 4 Def Mawile: 90-106 (29.6 - 34.8%) -- 83.5% chance to 3HKO after Stealth Rock

I've put 4 EVs into Mawile's Defense because they do make a slight difference in the % chance for Multi-Attack to become a 3HKO, but putting those 4 into Attack doesn't raise the damage of Rock Slide or Play Rough.

The goal of this set is to come in on the Swords Dance or come in fresh-faced. Mawile should not take an attack to switch in, but if it does, Sucker Punch can do a small amount of damage to make up for the non-guaranteed 2HKO when Stealth Rocks aren't set up.
Running Mawile with Special Defense investment is a little odd, but I had this idea and wanted to share.
