Hello guys so this is my first post here. So i had an idea of making webs on SS CT meta but i postponed the build to late nov. I needed it for a ladder tourney, this is the team i made. I named it VIRTUAL INSANITY it suits the mood of the song and the playstyle of team works for it.

BUILDING PROCESS

213.png

Ah yes
shuckle a necessary poke for webs. I like the mental herb set as it helps against taunt users and encores them into taunt paving way for my breaker. This poke suits this HO because of the fact that it can get rocks for stall MU and webs for offense MU.

145-g.png

Star of the show
Galarian-Zapdos. This poke serves a purpose similar to bisharp prevent defog. However it accomplishes something better on this team. It is very versatile in its coverage and can keep clicking a single move again and again against a certain play style and get chip for others. It also can agility up to clean late game or BU to get kills early game.
793.png

Nihilego is a very cool pokemon in my eyes. It is one of the things that beats the ever present zapdos and moltress and soft checks most special attackers. It proves to be a great mon once thier steel type is gone and breaks through stall like butter with meteor beam to help vs blissey who is helpless against this monster.
897.png

Now that i got two great breakers, I needed a very good poke to clean/power through teams.
Specstrier works in a way to beat chipped teams like balance. For example, if i chip their dark resist and kill their normal type i win easily. Also it serves as breaking tool against psyspam and generally beats them badly.
812.png

Now i was pretty confident in my breakers so i needed a glue with strong priority and good matchup against rain. Voila
Rillaboom exists, Its a great compliment to this team as it can knock stuff like zapdos-K and moltress for them to take rocks and lose to galar zap. It also helps in MUs against offensive teams where stuff like spectrier and cinderace go wild.
637.png

Finally i saw i lost to Pheromosa and CB rilla and thus began thinking what

to do i thought of a fire type. It was first cinderace but then i saw bulky volc is very good for this team being able to beat sun and stuff was also amazing so i slapped it on the team and it has shown does very well against offensive teams who cant take hits from volcarona well. For ex. I use mons like rilla boom for setup fodder against HO and take a win.

Now onto important things

HO- Use volcarona spectrier or rilla to win. Even stuff like galar zap can agility up and smash this archetype
BO- Just common BO measures weaken team see your wincon and take the dub
Balance- The same thing with BO but just use galar zap and spam attacks
Stall- Find opportunity to get in Nihego and spam meteor beam against chansey/blissey and u take the win.
Rain- Chip ferro and Zapdos and its a rillaboom game.
Sun- Yea just eitehr get up webs and spam shadow ball or volcarona sweep.
Sandbalance- Use Galar zap to break wait till zolt is gone And then just spam rilla and win. Also if u somehow managed to kill exca, nihi just goes in.

Threatlist
Although this is an HO i dont feel that it has very big weaknesses. They are just some regular boon to HOs but are managable
Dragonite :dragonite:
This mon is a big problem if you let it setup with breaking multiscale. If u broke it you can possibly try to get a burn from volc or just live its attacks.

Hawlucha :hawlucha:
Ah yes hawlucha the true threat, it needs setup to beat this team. To impove MU vs hawlucha just keep 100% on spectrier and dont let it in on a poke it walls like rillaboom.

These are two big menaces but one small menace is-
Cinderace :cinderace:
Yes if u dont put it into grassy glide range it will be a menace but your pretty good against it if you play well.

NOW ONTO A BIT OF TALK
The reason i posted this was because i felt this was a real good team which is very good after playing a lot and testing a lot. Its origin was for a tour so i put a lot of effort into it. The Main reason i wanted to add it was because it was the first team that i never got tilt with. One of my friends TheLordOfBadRNG, said that this was the team that helped them pass reqs. It was the first HO i used that isnt MU fish against other teams. This was unlike the setup spam HO used commonly in SS meta and reminded me of gen7 or prior HOs since i was mostly spamming attacks so i thought this was something refreshing from this gens massive pool of setup-spam. I dont think i can make this team any better i hope u guys can.

SET DETAILS

:ss/shuckle:

Shuckle @ Mental Herb
Ability: Sturdy
EVs: 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 SpD
Calm Nature

145-g.png

Zapdos-Galar @ Leftovers
Ability: Defiant
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Bulk Up

Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Meteor Beam
- Power Gem
- Grass Knot
- Dazzling Gleam

Breaker Nihego with a good assault of 4 moves meteor beam helps it increase its spatk power gem for neutral damage against most the tier and Grass Knot for pert and dazzling gleam or urshifu and garchomp. This set 100% 6-0s or leaves a massive dent in stall to let other teammates win.

:spectrier:
Spectrier @ Choice Specs

EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
IVs: 0 Atk

Its main purpose is to get in on a pokemon it hard walls and beat setup on it. Psychic is there to find a nice balance between beating tran and fini while also beating pex and doing neutral damage to cinderace and stuff.

BIG EDIT-
Added Pulse for hex/mudshot on spectrier so u can bait in very wesk blissey and kill it. I will use mudshot instead of hex to flex on heatran.:swole::swole::swole:

hey, nice team. I like the use of rillaboom on webs to cover for most weak matchups (ie rain) that you have. I also really dig the use of nihilego.

That said, I think there are a few minor changes you could make. First off, I think zapdos could benefit from a different set. First off, I'd recommend changing final gambit on shuckle for infestation. Infestation can lock the opponent into a mon, such as their defogger, which combined with encore can allow for either free setup opportunities, or a switch in to zapdos on a defog. I don't think you'll get much use out of final gambit with shuckle's low hp, and by the time it has set both hazards it'll likely be pretty low on hp. Next, I'd recommend a choice band set on zapdos. I'm not sure that bulk up would be sweeping many teams in combination with the recoil from brave bird, and while agility is useful, I think the massive power that cb offers (same as +1 from bu right off the bat) would benefit you more. I'd run close combat over thunderous kick here, and fill out the moveset with u-turn and one of throat chop or stomping tantrum.

I'd also give some consideration to swapping out volcorona after pheromosa likely gets the boot. A lot of the high ladder carries checks like toxic heatran/tyranitar, and I think you might find its usefulness starting to wane. A very powerful breaker on webs in nidoking could be worth a shot as a replacement, or even your own dragonite, which would help with hawlucha/cinderace.

Good luck!

Yea i liked the suggestions for volc as it rlly is there for phero and rilla. However i would say that the zapdos set being CB hurts the team. Because of the fact that thunderous kick basically can break through the likes of K-Zapdos, clefable and not locking into a CB really helps it . Also having Volc is one reason to have a safe check against things like melmetal, ferrothorn as these can worn down gapdos on switchin. Id say your changes will help much more for a Dragonite team.and to be fair i like them a lot and will try to make a dragonite version. Thanks for the feedback. This is a replay where the gapdos set won https://replay.pokemonshowdown.com/gen8ou-1237711548. I had no other poke who can win this so i agility on a ground immunity and win.

Hey! I really like the team, I also love the inclusion of Volcarona as it just isn't seen too much anymore, as Pheromosa is usually a better threat. However, since Pheromosa (in my opinion from the reaction of players in OU) is going to be kicked out of the tier soon, Volcarona might move up and take its place in a more balanced position and I feel that this team creates a good synergy for it. I do have one question, aside from the changes made in the comments to the team that GaryTheGengar suggested, howcome the team runs Zapdos-Galar over Hawlucha? I think that Hawlucha takes a more solid synergy with Rillaboom and can be used to set up early to late game sweeps that I think are more effective than Zapdos-Galar's.

Oh, I also forgot to mention Hawlucha Vs Zapdos-Galar's speed. Hawlucha picks up a ton more speed and mentioning Pheromosa again, it is a great check with Acrobatics and in general deals a ton of damage and gets support by the terrain set up from Rillaboom.

One truly last question as well, how come Volcarona is seeing the use of Psychic in this team? I feel like it doesn't get the hits it should anymore and other setup mons in the current OU resist it quite a lot, plus I don't like the move on mons that don't use it with STAB on their typing like Alakazam and Tapu Lele to get a lot of damage. To add to what I said about move coverage, Psychic creates a situation where it also can't deal with walls like Slowbro or Heatran which then get a free turn to set up. I understand it still can't deal with Heatran but Slowbro is everywhere and not using something to answer it like Bug Buzz or Giga Drain creates more problems for your team that you reallt don't need or can deal with well. Plus, Bug Buzz or Giga drain cover most of the threats in OU anyways, so why not run Bug Buzz / Giga Drain over Psychic which covers only two mons in the entire meta? (Plus, 11 OU mons, not counting anything in UUBL, resist / have immunity to Psychic. They are quite common and easily answer Volcarona).

The reason for not having lucha is A)i wanted to have something stop defogs and B) I just hate hawlucha and whatever it does, also the fact that gapdos can just takes kills without needing support is nice + it weakens zapdos for rillaboom. Also thanks for the compliments

I just saw your reply, thanks for the reasoning. I think I will test out Hawlucha Vs Zapdos-Galar though to see if it will have more success, I personally still think it has more use cases and longevity than Zapdos-Galar does but we will see. Also don't forget to read the rest of my edited comment as well.

To update, after further testing I found that the changes from Volcarona's Psychic to Giga Drain or Bug Buzz were good, and Hawlucha has an equal ability to Zapdos in matchups and has increased longevity but I do really like the Zapdos set, and I think it is best for this team. Well made!

Update pannel:

80 HP set with Nihilego for speed runs better than SpA, Pheromosa is a threat without it among other things.

Safeguard 248 HP / 8 Def / 252 Spe Timid Volcarona does much better than the current defensive set, though you could still have the old defensive stats, psychic just isn't worthy of that spot if Volcarona is caught so helping out the rest of the mons from status with safeguard I found is much better.

Rillaboom LO > Rillaboom CB, Drain Punch > Wood Hammer, you want variety to not have to worry about getting set up on by Ferrothorn or low HP Heatran, so being able to have more than one move + sticky webs + STAB Grassy Glide still being as effective as CB makes LO and Drain Punch a better option.

Infestation > Final Gambit, Final Gambit is just a wasted spot in my opinion because it can just get shrugged off by weaker opposing mons who can be sacked even if it is used at full HP, and infestation forces damage from hazards, webs, and infestation itself. Plus, you can force them into Encore.

Toxic Spikes > Grass Knot, With Rillaboom freed up, you no longer need the Grass Knot, plus it offers poison on those annoying tankier mons which can wreck Rillaboom with Toxic and destroy Volcarona with Ground, Water, or Rock type move coverage (not including Ferrothorn, Heatran, or Corviknight which are their own unique evils. Hence, Drain punch + LO for UT and Knock off as well on Rilla o_o). Plus, it gives another opportunity for Zapdos if Shuckle is sacked, being as they won't want Toxic Spikes on the field for their answers, and as Tornadus is so common, it gives another opportunity for it to be forced in and killed.
