Ice Beam is able to catch switch-ins like Zarude and Vileplume while also making Gastrodon a great check for Zygarde-10%. Due to Gastrodon's 4x weakness to Grass-type attacks, Steel-type Pokemon such as Registeel and Cobalion can make great teammates. Gastrodon also relies on cleric support from Pokemon like Sylveon and Umbreon so it doesn't get crippled by status and residual damage, in return, Gastrodon can check Steel- and Electric-types like Cobalion and Nasty Plot Thundurus. Gastrodon appreciates having entry hazard removers like Togekiss and Crobat so it can reliably switch into offensive threats. Setup sweepers such as Calm Mind Suicune and Reuniclus can use Toxic Gastrodon as setup fodder, so offensive countermeasures to these Pokemon such as Zarude and Obstagoon are helpful. Due to Gastrodon's lacking Special Defense, special walls such as Porygon2 and Assault Vest Galarian Slowbro are helpful to take on special attackers.

Gastrodon also appreciates having hazard removals removers like x and x so it can reliable reliably switch into threats, and the hazard removals can be Galarian Weezing or Crobat (dont mention gweez). Setup sweepers such as Calm Mind Chandelure Calm Mind Suicune and Calm Mind Reuniclues Reuniclus can use Toxic Gastrodon as a setup fodder so offensive countermeasures to these Pokemon can be like Zarude and Zygarde 10% are appreciated (change zydog example).
