I made a team last gen that I was very successful with, and was wondering where I would write an RMT about it? I'm not too familiar with forums, as I've rarely used it, but I've been interested in posting again. Is it too late to write that RMT since it's a past gen, or is there a specific place I should post it?

Hello,

https://www.smogon.com/forums/forums/past-gen-teams.319/ this if where you can post Past gens RMTs, be sure to read their rules first.

Hope that helped :)

I have two questions, i'll try to keep them as simple as possible.

First, I'm making a team around Rillaboom. What are its best partners, and why (Offensively and defensively)? I intend to use it on a more bulky team.

Second, Moltres. I have the same questions for Moltres as I did Rillaboom.

how to beat magearna it very bulky some time and great types and best set to

Hello,

it depends on the individual Magearna-Set, which Pokemon can check Magearna, but in overall Pokemon like Heatran, Excadrill, Landorus-T, Melmetal, and Moltres do a decent job in checking Magearna, but they have to be aware of coverage in Thunderbolt, Aura Sphere and Focus Blast. Moreover Ice Beam can still be threatening to Landorus-T.

Heatran can check the Double Dance-Set with Stored Power and Draining Kiss, same mention goes to Excadrill, and both threaten Magearan with super-effective STAB moves. Landorus-T can force Magearna out and can acts as a Volt Switch-Blocker, but it has to be wary about Fleur Cannon.

Galarian Slowking does an excellent job in checking Magearna, as none of its coverage options are super-effective against it.

Other more niche checks are Jirachi, Celesteela, and Amoonguss, which can all annoy Magearna with their utility to wear it down or to cripple it.

There is no single definite way to beat Magearna. Offensive ground types like Garchomp, Landorus Therian and Excadrill may kill it in one shot if it has no bulk investment but would be in danger if Magearna survives. Heatran pretty much hard counters any Magearna sets that don't have focus blast or aura sphere but has no reliable recovery and shift gear + calm mind Magearna can sometimes brute force its way thru Heatran if it has weakness policy. Blaziken can also straight up kill it with one flare blitz but doesn't have that good of a match up in ou. Galarian Slowking is also a good choice but can potentially lose to weakness policy shift gear calm mind

Heatran loves Rillaboom as a teammate. Not only does Rilla provide Heatran with more passive recovery, it also halves that massive earthquake weakness while having a near perfect defensive type synergy. Heatran can also go on the offensive, depending on its set. With Rillaboom, a good rule is that any non earthquake spamming pokemon can pretty much work fairly well with it

On Moltres, any dedicated physical wall can pretty much work with it. Buzzwole, Ferrothorn, Tangrowth among others. Any pokemon that can sponge a knock off so Moltres doesn't lose its boots are pretty game defensively. On the offensive side, grounds and steels like Magearna and Garchomp form a good core with Moltres as they can protect Moltres from its crippling rock weakness

I was planning on posting something to the OU good cores thread, but I'm not sure where to get the gifs of pokemon as they appear on showdown. Where can I find them? Is there a way i can save the gifs directly from showdown?

how to beat kartanna it some time hard and get sweep by beast boost and sword dance it had best speed tire and good cover move
Buzzwole, Zapdos, Moltres, Tangrowth, Tornadus-Therian, Mandibuzz, and Skarmory are all capable of checking it defensively depending upon the set and conditions. In addition to this, faster Pokemon like the aforementioned Tornadus-Therian, Cinderace, Spectrier, Dragapult, and Latios can revenge kill it.

Thoughts on Melmetal? Personally I think it’ll drop to UU after two shifts. Everyone and their mother is running Slowbro, Pex, Skarm, Ferro, and Zapdos to combat the likes of Lando, Ace, Drill, and Rilla which hinders Melmetal’s consistency. Not to mention it has stiff competition from other steels who offer more utility that isn’t just raw power and bulk. It’s still decent and with FS support, Band is incredibly difficult to switch into.

The metagame is not particularly friendly to Melmetal currently, but I do not see it dropping to UU anytime soon still.

Suspect-test related question:

This is my first time trying hard to get reqs, so i don't understand well how GXE works.
Can somebody to explain me how it works?
After 12 games, the alt is going 10-2...is it doomed or still i have a chance to make it in 50 games or less?

Good luck everyone with your laddering :blobuwu:
Not doomed, yet. A typical approach I take is to look at the thread to post reqs and see what sort of records are required for reqs.

how to counter volcarona and best set

Volcarona can be answered with Toxapex when it is not running Psychic. Furthermore Heatran just roadblocks it this gen with the loss of Hidden Power Ground. Other Pokemon, which can help versus Volcarona are Tapu Fini and also Galarian Slowking, with their amazing typing and bulk. Galarian Slowking especially can threaten all Volcarona variants as it is also capable of tanking hits when Volcarona is at +2.

how to counter volcarona and best set

To add on Katy's answer, Blissey also straight up annoys Volcarona unless it is packing roost. Tyranitar can also switch in safely when Volcarona dances and kill it with rock blast as Tyranitar usually runs specially defensive, meaning that +1 bug buzz will only deal slightly over half hp while it just shrugs off unboosted ones. Be warned that Volcarona can repeatedly harass Tyranitar with bug buzz until it reaches the point where it can't deal with it anymore. Garchomp is also a good check to Volcarona since it almost always carries stone edge and can tank any +1 attack. It is unreliable due to stone edge accuracy

Can someone offer their insight on Block vs. Infestation on Toxapex? Block is mentioned in the current analysis, as it blocks teleport. But isn't Infestation superior for this set?

Block is better. You run Block + Spite to trap opposing Toxapex and other bulky Pokemon that cannot pivot out or break Toxapex. Infestation does very little due to the turn limit and passive nature of Toxapex, thus meaning it cannot kill the Pokemon within the limited amount of turns.

Block + Spite + Recover + Scald or Knock Off is the main viable trapping Toxapex.

I still can’t believe that GF let this abomination of game balance into Pokémon, it needs serious nerfs (not that it would affect Smogon since we allow transfer moves...)
On that topic, I don’t know how to deal with Pex because Scald and Knock Off mess with a lot of the things you’d normally do to get rid of a super bulky mon. Any advice? And it gets Haze to stuff what you’d THINK would be the way to beat it...

Try using Slowbro or Slowking with Future Sight + Teleport. Their rise to prominence has quickly belittled the impact of Toxapex in balance match-ups where it otherwise thrived.
