[OVERVIEW]

Metagross is a solid choice for a bulky attacker due to its insanely high Attack, its resistances to Ice- and Fairy-type moves, and it not taking up a restricted slot, unlike Solgaleo and Necrozma-DM. Furthermore, it is one of the select few Pokemon that has Clear Body, which allows Metagross to stay safe from Intimidate or stat drops from opposing Max Moves. Its large number of resistances and its common weaknesses in Ground, Ghost, Dark, and Fire make it an excellent Weakness Policy user. Metagross appreciates Pokemon that can activate its Weakness Policy such as Spectrier and Tornadus. Despite all of its positive traits, Metagross can be shut down by Pokemon such as Gigantamax Charizard and Calyrex-S. It is also reliant on Dynamax to make the most of its offensive capabilities.

move 3: Rock Slide / Ice Punch
move 4: Protect
item: Weakness Policy

[SET COMMENTS]

* Iron Head is Metagross's Steel-type attack of choice, as it can flinch foes and is perfectly accurate. Its powerful Max Steelspike is useful for boosting Metagross's already high Defense and can severely damage Calyrex-I and Grimmsnarl.

* Stomping Tantrum is used in order to break through Pokemon such as Zacian-C, Incineroar, and Solgaleo with the added bonus of boosting Metagross's Special Defense through Max Quake.

* Rock Slide is able to hurt Pokemon such as Charizard and Zapdos while Metagross is Dynamaxed. Ice Punch can be run in order to punch holes through Ground- and Grass-types such as Landorus-T, Groudon, and Rillaboom.

Zen Headbutt allows Metagross to target Pokemon such as Venusaur with a powerful Max Mindstorm whilst setting Psychic Terrain. Bullet Punch is a reliable priority option, but it cuts into Metagross's coverage. Additionally, Thunder Punch is able to punish Kyogre and Lapras as well as block sleep moves like Yawn, Spore, and Sleep Powder with Max Lightning setting up Electric Terrain. Assault Vest is another valid option to allow Metagross to stand up to Calyrex-S, but such a set is considerably less powerful than Weakness Policy.

quick comments before you get this into QC:

-slash rock slide and ice punch on the same line with protect in slot 4. WP gross realllyyyy should be running protect
-touch on iron head being used for max steelspike. Its perfect accuracy and flinch chance make it the better base move though
-add zen headbutt, thunder punch, and bullet punch to other options

I'm gonna do a quick check on the overview because it looks like its fairly complete but i have a lot to say
[OVERVIEW]

Metagross carries an impressive base 135 Attack stat, which allows it to put on good offensive pressure during a match. Furthermore, it is one of the select few that has Clear Body, which when paired with Weakness Policy allows Metagross to sustain its boosts and threaten Pokemon such as Grimmsnarl and Xerneas. An ally that can enable it is Tornadus, which can activate Metagross's Weakness Policy, as well as give it Tailwind support. It can also boosts its Defense and Special Defense with Max Steelspike and Max Quake. Despite all of the positive traits it has Metagross can be shut down by Pokemon such as Gigantamax Charizard and Calyrex-S.

This just doesn't say a lot. 135 and clear body on their own is basically just some dex info. I would like to see the overview contain the following because right now this isn't doing a lot to set it apart from other WP steels
-what makes metagross a good option for your team (ideas: it doesnt take up a restricted slot, has key resistances to fairy and ice)
-its good matchups
-what checks it offensively
-what checks it defensively

It can also boosts its Defense and Special Defense with Max Steelspike and Max Quake. [SET COMMENTS]

* Iron Head can grab potential flinches and is able to threaten Pokemon such as Xerneas and Grimmsnarl. Due to Iron Head's better Base Power and perfect accuracy, it can give Metagross a strong Max Steelspike. (These things aren't related)

* Stomping Tantrum is used in order to break through Pokemon such as Zacian-C, Incineroar, and Solgaleo with the added bonus of boosting its Special Defense (how?) and ignoring Rillaboom's Grassy Terrain.

* Rock Slide is able to hurt Pokemon such as Charizard and Zapdos while Dynamaxed as well as set up sand via Max Rockfall in order to counteract Groudon's Drought (Yeah I don't think this is worth mentioning, using Rockfall to counter Groudon's weather?? Surely we see the lapse in logic here. Btw be sure to move Ice Punch to this line since they are on the same line on the set).

* Ice Punch is ran in order to punch holes through Ground- and Grass-types such as Landorus-T, Groudon, and Rillaboom.

Zen Headbutt allows Metagross to target Pokemon such as Venusaur with a powerful Max Mindstorm whilst setting Psychic Terrain. Bullet Punch is a reliable priority option, but it cuts into Metagross's coverage. can be useful once the opposition has been considerably weakened and is within KO range, however; be careful should Indeedee-F's Psychic Terrain be active. Thunder Punch is able to punish Kyogre, Lapras, and Thundurus as well as block sleep moves like Yawn, Spore, and Sleep Powder with Max Lightning stopping Pokemon such as Venusaur and Amoongus from putting Metagross's allies as well as itself to sleep.

Don't worry if it seems too clunky though, WP is a big part of Metagross's viability so elaboration is okay) Metagross appreciates Pokemon that can activate its Weakness Policy such as Spectrier and Tornadus. Despite all of the positive traits it has Metagross can be shut down by Pokemon such as Gigantamax Charizard and Calyrex-S. It is also reliant on Dynamax to make the most of its offensive capabilities. dependent on its Dynamaxed forme in most scenarios.

(this might be my fault, but use 'it' in place of Metagross a time or two here for some variety maybe)

Its powerful Max Steelspike is useful for boosting its already high Defense, and can severely damage Calyrex-I, and Grimmsnarl, and Glastrier. (I think the fact it damages Calyrex-I well is indication enough that it does the same to Glastrier) (If you have another example you feel is really relevant here, go for it. I don't really have much in mind right now)

* Stomping Tantrum is used in order to break through Pokemon such as Zacian-C, Incineroar, and Solgaleo with the added bonus of boosting its Special Defense through Max Quake and ignoring Grassy Terrain. (Personally, because Metagross really really wants to max to abuse its offense, I think Stomping Tantrum is just better than Earthquake anyway for a few reasons (i.e. more than just this one). They have the same power anyway.)

* Rock Slide is able to hurt Pokemon such as Charizard and Zapdos while Dynamaxed as well as set up sand via Max Rockfall. (I think this sounds a bit to dex info-ey, because I don't think the sand is a big factor unless it's actually doing something) Ice Punch is ran in order to punch holes through Ground- and Grass-types such as Landorus-T, Groudon, and Rillaboom.

Bullet Punch is a reliable priority option, but it cuts into Metagross's coverage. Furthermore, Thunder Punch is able to punish Kyogre, and Lapras, and Thundurus (Doesn't punish any more than Rock Slide or Ice Punch, which it would be replacing. Also due to them mostly being AV Lash Out, I think Metagross matches up negatively into it.) as well as block sleep moves like Yawn, Spore, and Sleep Powder with Max Lightning setting up Electric Terrain. I think Assault Vest can be mentioned in this section, just because it can help give it even more survivability against Calyrex-S, say. But it does come at a fair power deficit compared to WP.
