Eternabat's ability, in its current state, has simply proven to be a pain to code. As the Pokémon has succeeded really well despite its ability being uncoded, it's been agreed that changing its ability would not change its viability to a negative degree. Its new effect was suggested by its original submitter, G-Luke, and is now "Foe's targetting this Pokémon have their stat boosts counted as halved, rounded up (Pressure + Unaware)". This means that Pokémon who have a +1 or a +2 stat boost will count as +1, Pokémon who have a +3 or +4 boost will count as +2 and Pokémon who have a +5 or +6 will count as +3.

This case is a lot simpler. Grousle's ability has an effect that many considered both unnecessary andrather stretchy given its ability components of Drought + Lightning Rod, it being that the ability used to give Grousle immunity to Grass. Said immunity is now removed from the ability.


Lastly, I have three announcements I'd liek to make.

The first is concerning Slate 8 (The slate right after this one). I usually want to let people be as free as possible with their submissions. However, in its current state, the metagame's offense to defense ratio is essentially 5:1, leaving it at a very tricky spot. Thus, during the next slate, only defensive fusions will be allowed to be submitted for the sake of balance

Second, we have plans for a Doubles variation of this metagame! FE DUU would by no means the focus of the mod, but rather a fun side meta that people can play. While its discouraged for people to sub exclusively with DUU in mind, a lot of fusions naturally will be good at both singles and doubles (and in some cases, better in doubles than in singles!). It has not yet been coded, but we will bring news to you as soon as possible

And to close these off, we are currently looking for Council applications. With the likelyhood of FE UU being the next PMOTS + the mod's recent growth, I fear the current council is rather too small. A Council Member would essentially be someone to help with managing the thread as well as making choices regarding the metagame's state. To apply for council, simply reach out to me either here or in my discord DMs. A Council Member should be someone who's active within this mod, active alongside the community, has a decent sense of balance and that can dedicate a little bit of time for this mod

Tentoxys-Defense: Do-everything defensive mon. While the obvious set is the hazards+recovery or boots recovery, I'm most excited for a fast sub+recover (or protect) set alongside calm mind to operate like crocune does in OU. Main issue is both STABs have an immunity, so it seems like either a weak scald or sludge bomb will have to be the attack of choice. Lots of flexibility either way.

Ability is great for forcing switches (do not misconstrue it as a high speed tier though, this is not speed control in the slightest without a scarf) and a huge attack stat+U-Turn means it can abuse it. A very splashable spinner with the moveslots to fit it.

Role Justification: I'm here to see if this is any good. Well against viking wolf, it's safe to say that the viking wolf is MotherFucking DOOMed. However it is slow meaning it will always be attacking last in most situations. Thankfully it has gyro ball to help with that.

Ferrotun is a Pokémon that provides team utility in Knock Off, Leech Seed, Hazards and Status, while not being passive at all. Since its speed is not something you would boost, you can run a -Spe Nature in order to take advantage of every other of your good stats. Swords Dance can be a suprise, but I wouldn't say it's good, Iron Defense could work better though. Thick Barbs makes it a nightmare for physical attackers while Fire and Ice types don't threaten it as much as they would normally.

Kirnsey can serve as a great special wall, thanks to its natural bulk boosted further by Eviolite. It's typing and ability also help it out. It also provides great Utility options in Status, namely Toxic, Paralysis and Burn, which can help out with its low physical bulk, Stealth Rock, Heal Bell, Taunt and Teleport. It isn't completely depended on Eviolite either, it still has great natural bulk.

I do like it because you can sorta just switch it in on grousle's flamethrower for a nice chunk of damage immediately, but the fact that in many scenarios it gets a free STAB attack on switch-in seems very unbalanced to me.
Grousle is immune to Fire-type attacks, it would just get +1 Special Attack and proceed to OHKO with its Electric-type STAB

this is certainly a fusion, and arguably quite a ridiculous one. Immediately reflecting a fire-type move back at the user seems like it'd be easily abuseable and not particularly balanced either.

It has come to my attention that i completely forgot grousle's ability, but my point still stands that "occasional free STAB attack on switch-in" is kinda unbalanced.
Its not immune to the attack, and has a host of other problems it has to deal with (reliance on Boots, being horribly crippled by Knock Off). Its special Attack isn't very high, 90% of the mons using Fire type moves are hyst other Fire types and the rest it has no business switching in on. Pokemon in the past have had strictly superior abilities to zero fanfare (see Magic Fat) so I dont see the cause for alarm here.

Role Justification: The Elderly have united to make a somewhat unique kind of wall. Eldegampa is best used when switching in against a resisted hit and thus lowering the foe's stats. Struggles a bit against Slowton and Noicity if not predicted correctly, and is never going to be useful against Manicuno, but does a good job at beating Mega Chomplim and to an extent Grousle.

What to Wall: A Guideline

Local council member/meta man earl here, I've been looking over the submissions and I think it would be helpful to give a short guide on what actually needs defensive counterplay at the moment. With this being an open-ended mod I don't necessarily think that specific walls are necessarily needed, but due to the looming PMOTS victory I think that some specific threats need some counterplay asap. Anyways, here some threats and what would handle them:
Metal Crush
: These three, alongside a few others, really necessitate non-Steel defensive measures. Their main counterplay mainly consists of Fires, Dragons, and Grasses to resist the powerful Fire- and/or Ground-type attacks that these special attackers can throw out. Consider subbing specially-defensive mons that can comfortably take Ground, Electric, and Fire-type attacks (or at least of combination of them). Manicuno is a bit of different case but still necessitates a sturdy Fire-type check (Arctres is good but vulnerable to Fighting-type coverage).
Ground-types? No Thanks: These 2 popular electric breakers can easily bypass most (non-Jelliswine) ground-types. Some sort of defensive Normal/Water resist paired with an electric resist should make a decent check to these two. Unlike the previous category, Steels could work here, but both have strong Fire-coverage.
Tanette-Be-Gone: These are some physical breakers that premier physical wall Tanette does not check. Other premier physical wall Corveot does wall them, but some more solid physical steel/poison checks would be appreciated for some variety. Note that Lycanserker is a essentially a Fighting-type and does not care about most Steels.
Assorted Bullshit: A few other powerful boosters/breakers to keep in mind while submitting. There's no real common check here, just some other threats to think about

Basically: Submit with the meta in mind, a generically good wall with a generically good typing will not necessarily be great here. Fusion mons have stupid movepools, so specialized walls are not a bad thing. Think of what these offensive mons run, and submit with that in mind, or make actually functional blanket wall- like Chansey. Peace
