I like Pokemon, but more specifically, I love Dragapult. As someone introduced to the series through Gen 8 he's one of my favorites, so I try to include him in as many of my teams as I can. Another one that's risen up to be one of my favorites is Hawlucha. I decided to try my hand at creating an OU team featuring both of them, however, I'm not that good at team building, so I'd like some advice on what to use.
Dragapult @ Choice Specs
Ability: Infiltrator
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Timid Nature
- Shadow Ball
- Draco Meteor
- Flamethrower
- U-turn
Role: My favorite Pokemon, a speedy and hard hitting Special attacker, what's not to like? There's not much else to it, D-Pult is a staple on all my teams including my doubles Sun Team where you'd least expect him. He's great.
Hawlucha @ Grassy Seed
Ability: Unburden
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Swords Dance
- Acrobatics
- Close Combat
- Poison Jab
Role: Another one I've grown very fond to. Hawlucha serves as a great setup Physical sweeper. I use Grassy Seed because it pairs well with Rillaboom and his Grassy surge, which in turn activates Unburden once the seed is used and makes Hawlucha even faster and deadlier.
Clefable @ Leftovers
Ability: Magic Guard
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
IVs: 0 Atk
- Moonblast
- Soft-Boiled
- Stealth Rock
- Wish for SwSh, Knock Off for OU PoSho
Role: Clefable is an interesting one. One thing to note is while the recommended set opts for Knock off, Clefable can't learn that in SwSh. So for SwSh linked/ranked, I just gave her Wish for extra utility, but if I try Pokemon Showdown it'll be replaced with Knock Off. Other than that, standard rock setter and utility Mon.
Rillaboom @ Assault Vest
Ability: Grassy Surge
Gigantamax: Yes
EVs: 140 HP / 252 Atk / 4 Def / 84 SpD / 28 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Grassy Glide
- High Horsepower
- Knock Off
- U-turn
Role: This Rillaboom set is unorthodox but it works. Focused on being a more bulky-ish hard hitting physical attacker, Rillaboom's role is to function as the beastly monke we all know and love/hate and also help Hawlucha set up his Unburden ability, which works great with U-turn.
Nidoking @ Life Orb
Ability: Sheer Force
EVs: 252 SpA / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Modest Nature
- Sludge Wave
- Earth Power
- Thunderbolt
- Ice Beam
Role: Another odd pick, Nidoking is mostly here to function strong special attack power and take care of the bad matchups of D-Pult and Hawlucha who both share a fairy weakness. I went for BoltBeam over Flamethrower for some extra coverage, although either would work I suppose.
Corviknight @ Rocky Helmet
Ability: Pressure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Relaxed Nature
- Defog
- Roost
- Body Press
- U-turn
Role: We end off with Corviknight. Wall, defogger, nothing bad here. My only complaint is I can't imagine what Corviknight looks like size-wise in my head cause it's apparently 7 foot tall and that's wild to me. It's the same size of Dragonite, another favorite, but it really doesn't feel like it. Weird personal rant aside, Corviknight is a mostly another support role to just take care of hazards and function as a tough wall.
Thoughts?
