:ss/Blissey:

Blissey (F) @ Heavy-Duty Boots
Ability: Natural Cure
EVs: 252 HP / 252 Def / 4 SpD
Bold Nature
- Soft-Boiled
- Toxic/ Thunder Wave
- Teleport
- Seismic Toss

Blissey is Slowbro's most well known and most splashable partner, with the two of them forming the rather infamous "BlissBro" core. Blissey's absurd special bulk lets it take on the strong special attackers than Slowbro hates dealing with such as Zapdos, Greninja, Mega Charizard Y, and Tapu Koko, among others. In exchange, Slowbro checks the physical attackers that can break through Blissey like Garchomp, Gliscor, Landorus, and Mega Medicham. However, the beauty of their partnership doesn't just stop there, as Blissey's access to Toxic gives it a way to cripple bulky Waters and Grasses that can pivot around this core (sans the likes of Pex and Amoonguss), or as an alternative, Thunder Wave helps to cripple stuff like CM Clef, Toxapex, Kartana, and Mega Scizor which prove annoying to both it and Slowbro.

However, even that isn't what makes Blissey Bro's best partner nor is it what makes the core so powerful. No, it is the fact that both members have access to Teleport, essentially letting them gain momentum on switches/pivots and using said momentum to either pivot into each other or even into a strong breaker. The fact that Blissey literally doubles Slowbro's pivoting potential and ability to gain defensive momentum for the team is what truly makes it Bro's best partner

Kommo-o @ Leftovers
Careful Nature
Ability: Bulletproof
EVs: 252 HP / 196 SpD / 60 Spe
- Stealth Rock

- Protect
- Drain Punch

Specially Defensive Kommo-o makes for a stellar teammate for Slowbro, being able to pivot in on many of Bro's offensive checks, like Ash Greninja, Zard-Y, Serperior, Volcarona, Zapdos, etc as it sets Stealth Rock while appreciating Slowbro's ability to check Pokemon that could easily break through Kommo-o, such as Mega Medicham and the SD Grounds. Of course, the combination of the two can still lose to certain threats like the CM Fairies, Kartana, and Rillaboom, but this isn't too big of an issue seeing that teammates like Clear Smog Amoonguss and Corviknight are rather splashable in the current metagame.

Scizor-Mega @ Scizorite
Ability: Technician
EVs: 248 HP / 16 Def / 244 SpD
Impish Nature
- Bullet Punch
- Swords Dance
- U-turn / Knock Off
- Roost

Together, Mega Scizor and Slowbro pretty much blanket check the whole tier in its physical spectrum. They form an amazing pivot core with one another, keeping up momentum consistently throughout the game. Mega Scizor acts as the tried and true switchin to the offensive grasses Slowbro fails to check; can switch in directly and threaten SubRoost Kyurem, which otherwise sets up on it; and Weavile, which can threaten it with a swift Knock Off. In return, Slowbro functions as a check to the offensive grounds that can easily out offense Scizor (bar SD Gliscor which can actually lose to Scizor); and Mega Medicham, which Scizor doesn't appreciate switching directly into. Also, Scizor greatly appreciates Slowbro's ability to throw off powerful Future Sights that can heavily dent Scizor's common switchins, most notably Toxapex; and act as a semi decent Heatran check with Scald. Special Sponges like Blissey, Kommo-o and Tapu Fini that can check special attackers, especially Ash Greninja, are almost a requirement to accompany this core.

EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe

- Zen Headbutt

Urshifu, much like its Dark counterpart, has a typing ripe for Future Sight + Teleport abuse. The main counters to Water- and Fighting- coverage lay in Toxapex, Amoonguss, Tapu Fini, and Tangrowth. Future Sight + Close Combat means that all of these Pokemon are quite quickly and easily pressured. Beyond that, Urshifu also makes a decent check to Dark-types like Weavile, Tyranitar, and Ash-Greninja that thrash Slowbro, while Slowbro can pivot in against Psychic-types to protect Urshifu from them.

Congratulations to Solaros & Lunaris for winning cycle 7!! Your team will be added to archives soon.

Cycle 8:

Kartana @ Normalium Z
Ability: Beast Boost
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Leaf Blade
- Sacred Sword
- Swords Dance
- Giga Impact

Kartana shows to be a great breaker in the tier, being able to break past balance builds very reliably thanks to its good speed tier and beast boost letting it spiral out of control.

Submission deadline is May 7th at 10 pm gmt-4

Reserving Heatran

:ss/heatran:

Defensive Heatran can switch on Pokemon such as Zapdos, Corviknight, Scizor and other counter to Kart, and is able to use Kartana's ability to bait those threat and other Pokemon it can't switch on such as Tangrowth or Latias ( Aura sphere won't do much, you can Toxic them easily. ) Kartana can do the same with ground-type like Garchomp and Gliscor that likes to switch on Heatran, as cantank an Earthquake from both and OHKO with a Leaf Blade and a Z Giga Impact, respectively. Being able to cheap damage teams with his ability to be a great Stealth Rock setter, and his moves Magma Storm, Toxic and Protect, really helps Kartana Pick-up KOs.

Tyranitar @ Tyranitarite
Ability: Sand Stream
EVs: 88 HP / 252 Atk / 168 Spe
Adamant Nature
- Stealth Rock
- Stone Edge
- Pursuit
- Crunch

Mega Tyranitar is a phenomenal partner for Kartana, as it very much appreciates Mega Tyranitar's ability to chip down the opposing team down with Sand, Pursuit and Stealth Rocks, putting many pokémon such as (non Body Press) Corviknight and Toxapex, that try to dance around it, in Kartana's range. Also, Mega Tyranitar's bulk allows it to reliably check Zapdos, which can be troublesome for Kartana if its Z move was already used; pressure Bulky Volcarona, which also is very annoying for Kartana if its Z was burned; and outright get rid of Shedinja, which can wall Kartana forever.

Kartana in return checks the ever present grounds that Mega Tyranitar can't stay in on. It has to be mentioned though, that this core is very weak to the likes of Mega Lopunny and Ash Greninja so pokémon like Clefable, Toxapex and Slowking are required.

Scarf Lando-T is an excellent offensive and defensive partner to Kartana, not only being able to switch into the things that usually threaten out SD Kart like Lopunny, Zapdos, Tapu Koko, and even Volcarona, but also being able to either knock out said mons or at least force them out. Not only that, but thanks to U-turn, it can pivot on the usual Lando switchins and bring in Kartana safely, giving it an oppourtunity to either set up or just fire off a strong hit, facilitating not only a possible sweep of its own but also making it easier for hte likes of Lando to clean late game with its strong STAB EQ. This set in particular is geared towards helping Kartana sweep, with Stone Edge being here to deal with Zapdos and other Lando, U-turn to get Kart in safely, and Explosion to blow up on stuff like Tang, Zapdos, and even Mega Latis to either kill them or put them in Kartana range.

Tapu Bulu and Kartana make quite the offensive threat, spamming their Grass STABs to wear down most teams general check to Grasses: Corviknight, Skarmory, Zapdos, or Mega Latias. Stone Edge is the key here; it allows Tapu Bulu to bypass Zapdos without Kartana needing to expend the Z-Move, and this opens it up much more. In addition to their offensive synergy, the core gives a decent backbone against the likes of non-Flyinium Z Landorus-T, Garchomp, and Ash-Greninja, which is something Rillaboom can’t replicate.

Rillaboom @ Choice Band
Ability: Grassy Terrain
EVs: 252 Atk / 4 SpD / 252 Spe
Jolly Nature
- Wood Hammer
- Grassy Glide
- U-turn
- Knock Off

Rillaboom is a pretty insane partner for Kartana for a multitude of reasons. Grassy Terrain, Normalium Z really enjoys the Grassy Terrain recovery because this set doesn't use Synthesis, not only this, but Grassy Terrain boosting the power of Kartana's Leaf Blade is a huge boon since that makes it even harder to wall at +2. Another reason why Rillaboom pairs so well with Kartana is what Normalium Z does for Rillaboom. It nukes Zapdos extremely hard at +2 and because of Sacred Sword, Corviknight isn't really a good Kartana check, even if it's using the pretty niche Bulk Up because Sacred Sword just breaks through that at +2. Normalium Z Kartana being able to remove Rillaboom's best counters is very valuable for it and makes it even more threatening since it can more easily just spam its Grassy Terrain boosted STAB.

Seems to be a tie between Pokemon A by Nowno and Pokemon E by Zneon. Therefore first person to vote and break the tie would determine the winner of that round.

Cycle 9:

Mega Lopunny stands as a terrific offensive presense on any teams, with its high speed and dangerous priority fake out, coupled with hard to wall STABs.

While Mega Lopunny is a capable wallbreaker, it tends to falter against Pokemon like Slowbro, Landorus-T, and Reuniclus that have the bulk to eat its attacks. Ash-Greninja picks up the slack against these threats once brought in by Lopunny’s U-turn, making for a very potent offensive core in tandem with the offensive pressure of Spikes. In return, Mega Lopunny rips through specially defensive Pokemon like Blissey and Ferrothorn, while the two together can pressure Clefable, Kommo-o, and even Toxapex into submission.

Crawdaddy is an amazing partner for Mega Lopunny as it curbstomps fatter team structures for it, and pressures deletes stuff like Toxapex, Corviknight, Gliscor and Landorus-T. Mega Lopunny in turn deals with faster threats, especially against mons that Crawdaunt cant setup on, but also cant kill with priority. Pretty standard set, with Waterium Z chosen to nuke mons that try to play around it. Together both weaken the opposing team so they can be cleaned up late game, turning into a devastating offensive core formed from the best of the bunny and the LOBSTER.

Rockium Z Garchomp is a fantastic partner for Mega Lopunny, being able to break through or at least chip the fat stuff that can stave it off such as Slowbro, Toxapex, Corviknight, Zapdos, and Gliscor. In exchange, Lop not only staves off Chomp's offensive answers such as Weavile and Koko, but also can pivot on its own answers into the sand shark, giving it a free in where it wouldn't get it normally. Both of them can pave the way for the other to clean up, creating an extremely potent offensive core.
