UU Incineroar (REVAMP)

:ss/incineroar:

[OVERVIEW]

A solid Attack stat and good coverage against a large amount of the tier allow Incineroar to carve a niche for itself as a setup sweeper. Its STAB moves take out many threats, such as Jirachi, Tangrowth, and Galarian Slowbro. A great defensive typing combined with Intimidate gives Incineroar some defensive utility, allowing it to soft check Pokemon such as Aegislash, Azelf, and Entei while taking hits from physical attackers such as Zarude with a bit more ease and getting more setup chances. Incineroar struggles to deal with Water-, Ground-, and Fighting-types such as Primarina, Rhyperior, and Keldeo, all of which are very popular. It is very reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots to maximize its longevity, which cuts back on its wallbreaking power and makes it very susceptible to Knock Off. This is made worse by Incineroar's poor Speed tier, leaving it vulnerable to faster threats such as Thundurus-T and Nidoking. Incineroar also faces strong competition from other Fire- and Dark-types in the tier. As a physical Fire-type wallbreaker, Entei is much more powerful and faster than it, while, as a Dark-type, Zarude and Krookodile offer much better role compression and utility.

[SET COMMENTS]

Swords Dance allows Incineroar to take out bulkier Pokemon such as Celesteela. Flare Blitz is Incineroar's most powerful attack, dealing with Pokemon such as Buzzwole and Tangrowth while providing strong neutral coverage against foes like Galarian Moltres and Umbreon. Knock Off bypasses Fire-resistant Pokemon such as Salamence and Rotom-W and has the added bonus of removing items from its checks, such as Seismitoad and Kommo-o. Earthquake is Incineroar's main method of hitting Rock-types such as Rhyperior and Lycanroc-D. It also hits Kommo-o, Keldeo, and Primarina, all of which resist both of Incineroar's STAB moves, as well as hitting Aegislash without risking an Attack drop from King's Shield. Heavy-Duty Boots is crucial, as Stealth Rock would severely decrease its longevity otherwise. Intimidate allows Incineroar to tank non-STAB physical super effective moves such as Aegislash's Close Combat a bit better, as well as blanket checking Pokemon like Jirachi and Zarude. An Adamant nature gives Incineroar a small chance of OHKOing physically defensive Amoonguss without the need for a Swords Dance boost, while a Jolly nature prevents it from Speed tying with Aegislash.

Incineroar works best on offense teams as a powerful wallbreaker. Psychic-types such as Reuniclus, Galarian Slowbro, and Azelf can help deal with Fighting-types like Mienshao and Keldeo for Incineroar. In return, Incineroar can take out Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Necrozma and Aegislash for them. Jirachi makes an especially good teammate for Incineroar because of Healing Wish increasing its longevity. Electric- and Grass-types such as Thundurus-T, Zarude, and Roserade can check bulky Water-types like Pelipper and Seismitoad. Steel- and Grass-types like Cobalion, Aegislash, and Tangrowth help Incineroar deal with Rock-types like Lycanroc-D, Nihilego, and Diancie, which are all able to revenge kill Incineroar with ease. In return, Incineroar can sponge Fire-type attacks for these Pokemon. Ribombee is a solid teammate for Incineroar because it sets Sticky Web, which fixes up its poor Speed tier.

[STRATEGY COMMENTS]
Other Options
=============

Flame Charge boosts Incineroar's mediocre Speed, but it is also very weak, causing Incineroar to miss out on KOs against Pokemon like Amoonguss, Tangrowth, and Buzzwole. Darkest Lariat can be used over Knock Off for more consistent power, but removing items is much more beneficial to Incineroar's game plan, and the power decrease from a boosted Knock Off may lead to missing some important KOs, like the OHKO on Assault Vest Reuniclus. Close Combat can be used over Earthquake to hit Dark-types like Umbreon and Krookodile harder while still hitting Rock-types like Rhyperior, but it leaves Incineroar being walled even harder by Primarina and Azumarill and forces Incineroar to switch out more often due to the drops in defenses. A more defensive pivot set with Knock Off / Overheat / Toxic / U-turn, a Sassy nature, and an EV spread of 252 HP / 20 Atk / 236 SpD can be used to take advantage of Incineroar's great defensive typing, Intimidate, and good utility movepool to check more specially oriented Aegislash sets and Hatterene, but it is very passive and outclassed by other defensive pivots like Moltres.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Keldeo and Azumarill both resist Incineroar's STAB combination, allowing them to easily switch into Incineroar and force it out. Primarina also resists Incineroar's STAB combination, and its RestTalk set allows it to heal off any damage that Incineroar might inflict on it, making it even harder to deal with. Bulkier Water-types, like Gastrodon, Rotom-W, and Pelipper, resist Incineroar's Flare Blitz and make it increasingly hard for Incineroar to wallbreak when they are present on a team.

**Fighting-types**: Mienshao, Cobalion, and Buzzwole can take out Incineroar with ease using their STAB attacks, although the latter two do not like taking Flare Blitz. Kommo-o is especially dangerous to Incineroar, as it resists both of its STAB moves and can easily take advantage of it to set up or set entry hazards.

**Rock-types**: Rhyperior easily checks Incineroar and force it to switch out. Lycanroc and Nihilego both easily outspeed Incineroar and put immense offensive pressure onto it, although both of these Pokemon do not like switching into Earthquake. Diancie can easily take an unboosted Earthquake and threaten Incineroar with Diamond Storm.

**Faster Pokemon**: Mamoswine, Thundurus-T, and Nidoking easily outspeed Incineroar and revenge kill it.

**Knock Off Users**: Pokemon such as Obstagoon and Azelf can use Knock Off to remove Incineroar's Heavy-Duty Boots, which greatly hinders its longevity for the rest of the match.

[OVERVIEW]

  • A solid Attack stat and good coverage against a large amount of the tier allows Incineroar to carve a niche for itself as a set-up sweeper.
  • Fire and Dark STAB allows it to take out many threats in the tier, such as Jirachi, Tangrowth and Galarian Slowbro.
  • Access to Intimidate allows Incineroar to have some defensive utility, letting it take hits from physical attackers such as Zarude with a bit more ease and giving it more chances to set up. I'd additionally mention its typing here since it can allow Incineroar to soft check stuff like Aegislash and Entei if need be.
  • There are a plethora of Water-, Fighting-, and Ground-types in the tier, three typings that Incineroar greatly struggles to deal with. I think this sentence is a little too broad and could use more specific mentions of Pokemon in the tier. Saying something along the lines "Incineroar struggles to deal with popular Water-, Fighting-, and Ground-types like [insert examples here] would be better for clarity.
  • Incineroar is very reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots to maximize its longevity, which cuts back on its wallbreaking power and makes it very suspectible to Knock Off.
  • Incineroar also faces competition as a physical Fire-type wallbreaker from Entei, which is much more powerful and faster than it. Include in another sentence here that Krookodile and Zarude also give it competition as Dark-types, offering a lot more role compression/utility.

[SET COMMENTS]

Paragraph 1
  • Swords Dance allows Incineroar to boost its Attack, allowing it to increase its damage output and take out bulkier Pokemon, such as Celesteela. You could probably cut this sentence given that it's pretty straight-forward info that one could already gather. Up to you though.
  • Flare Blitz is Incineroar's most powerful attack, allowing it to deal with Bug- and Grass-types such as Buzzwole and Tangrowth. Also add that it offers strong neutral coverage against foes like Galarian Moltres and Umbreon.
  • Knock Off is Incineroar's Dark-type STAB attack, consider some quick examples of Fire-resists it bypasses here and has the added bonus of removing items from its checks, such as Seismitoad and Kommo-o.
  • Earthquake is Incineroar's main method of hitting Rock-types, such as Rhyperior and Lycanroc-D. It also acts as an alternative method of removing Steel-types like Aegislash if Incineroar is at risk of fainting to recoil damage from Flare Blitz. I think this sentence can be removed considering there aren't any common Steel-types you don't just knock if you're at risk of KOing yourself with Flare Blitz. You could note that it allows Incineroar to attack Aegislash without risking an Attack drop from King's Shield if you want, though.
  • Heavy-Duty Boots gives Incineroar immunity to entry hazard damage, which is crucial, as Stealth Rocks would severely decrease its longevity otherwise.
  • Intimidate lowers Attack on entry, allow Incineroar to tank non-STAB physical supereffective moves such as Zarude and Aegislash's Close Combat a bit better. Add that this can also help it blanket check Pokemon like Jirachi and Tapu Bulu
  • A Jolly nature prevents Incineroar from speed-tying with Aegislash, while an Adamant nature gives Incineroar a small chance of OHKOing physically defensive Amoonguss without the need for a Swords Dance boost. The phrasing here slightly implies that Jolly is the better option, but it's the second slash on the set. I'd adjust this.

Paragraph 2
  • Incineroar works best on balance and offensive teams as a powerful wallbreaker.
  • Clerics such as WishTect Jirachi and Sylveon are greatly appreciated as partners, since their healing moves allow Incineroar to recover from the recoil damage caused by Flare Blitz and subsequently increasing its longevity. I'd also add that this can help Incineroar tap more adequately into its defensive utility against foes like Zarude and Jirachi.
  • Entry hazard removers such as Salamence, Tentacruel, and Rotom-Wash make great teammates for Incineroar as they can get rid of Stealth Rocks, which are one of Incineroar's biggest weaknesses if its Heavy-Duty Boots have been removed.
  • Psychic-types such as Reuniclus, Galarian Slowbro, and Azelf can help deal with Fighting-types like Mienshao and Keldeo for Incineroar. In return, Incineroar can take out Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Necrozma and Aegislash for these Psychic types.
The content you have here is good but this section in general is a bit barren, so here are some things I'd like you to add:
- Entry hazard support, which can be helpful for allowing Incineroar more chip damage to muscle past foes with in the late-game.
- Maybe some Pokemon that can help check Aegislash/Zarude/etc so Incineroar doesn't wear itself down throughout the match trying to check them.
- Pokemon that can weaken bulky Water-types.
- Definitely some Rock-type checks considering Rhyperior/Diancie can stomach hits from Incineroar and it is pressured quite heavily by Lycanroc.

  • Darkest Lariat can be used as the Dark-type STAB move over Knock Off for more consistent power, but removing items is much more beneficial to Incineroar's game plan, and the power decrease from a boosted Knock Off may lead to missing some important kills.
  • Close Combat can be used over Earthquake as the main coverage move to hit Dark-types like Crawdaunt use Umbreon as an example here over Crawdaunt and Krookodile harder, I'd add that the move still covers Pokemon like Rhyperior while offering strong neutral coverage in general but this results in Incineroar being walled even harder by Fairy-types such as Primarina and Sylveon, as well as the drops in defenses decreasing Incineroar's longevity.
  • A more defensive pivot set with a moveset of Knock Off / Overheat / Toxic / U-turn, a Sassy nature, and an EV spread of 252 HP / 20 Atk / 236 SpD can be used to take advantage of Incineroar's great defensive typing, access to Intimidate, and good utility movepool, consider bringing up some examples of Pokemon a set like this would check well. but it is very passive and outclassed by other defensive pivots like Moltres.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Keldeo, Rotom-Wash, and Tentacruel can all easily tank Incineroar's most powerful move in Flare Blitz and take it out with their STAB attacks, though the latter does have to watch out for Earthquake. This is a pretty barren section for one of Incineroar's bigger nuisances. I think what you should do is scrap this and start over by breaking it down into offensive Water-types and defensive Water-types. Note that Keldeo and Azumarill resist Incineroar's STAB moves and can thus pivot into it if they need to. Then in a new sentence, note bulkier answers like Gastrodon/Rotom/Pelipper. Primarina also definitely deserves a specific mention as the RestTalk set allows it to tank Incineroar's STAB moves while recovering damage taken.

**Fighting-types**: Mienshao, Kommo-o use Cobalion as an example here, and Buzzwole can all take out Incineroar with ease using their STAB attacks. These Pokemon are greatly weakened by Intimidate, however, this doesn't feel like something that is important enough to bring up honestly and the latter does not like taking a Flare Blitz. Kommo-o deserves its own mention here given that it resists Incineroar's STAB combo and can even potentially take advantage of it to either set up or perform a utility role if it isn't set up.

**Ground-types**: Mamoswine, Krookodile, and Nidoking can both easily outspeed Incineroar and OHKO it with their STAB attacks, though the former does not like taking a Flare Blitz.
Instead of singling out Ground-types, I think the point you're trying to make could best be reached by making a point called "Faster Pokemon" and just noting some of the examples you use in this section as good revenge killers against Incineroar.

Rock-types for sure deserve their own section, given that Rhyperior very adequately checks Incineroar, Lycanroc/Nihilego apply pretty intense offensive pressure, and Diancie can take an unboosted Earthquake and threaten it with Diamond Storm.

**Knock Off users**: Pokemon such as Obstagoon and Azelf can use Knock Off to remove Incineroar's Heavy-Duty Boots, which greatly hinders its longevity for the rest of the match.

Bulkier Water-types, like Gastrodon, Rotom-Wash, and Pellipper, also resist Incineroar's main STAB move and make it increasingly hard for Incineroar to wallbreak when they are present on a team. Primarina resists Incineroar's STAB combination, and its RestTalk set allow it to heal off any damage that Incineroar might inflict on it, making it even harder for Incineroar to deal with.

Kommo-o is especially dangerous to Incineroar, as it resists both of its STABs and can easily take advantage of it to set up or set hazards.

**Faster Pokemon**: Mamoswine, Thundurus, and Noivern can all easily outspeed Incineroar and revenge kill it, though the former does not like taking a Flare Blitz.

**Rock-types**: Rhyperior can easily check Incineroar and force it to switch out. Lycanroc and Nihilego both easily outspeed Incineroar and put immense offensive pressure onto it, though both of these Pokemon do not like switching into an Earthquake. Diancie can easily take an unboosted Earthquake and threaten Incineroar with Diamond Storm.

  • A great defensive typing combined with access to Intimidate allows Incineroar to have some defensive utility, allowing it to soft check Pokemon such as Aegislash and Entei while letting it take hits from physical attackers such as Zarude with a bit more ease and giving it more chances to set up.
  • Incineroar struggles to deal with Water-, Ground-, and Fighting-types such as Primarina, Zygarde-10%, and Mienshao Rhyperior and Keldeo feel like better examples here than Zydog or Shao given they can pivot in on Incineroar if need be, all of which are very popular.
  • Incineroar is very reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots to maximize its longevity, which cuts back on its wallbreaking power and makes it very suspectible to Knock Off.
  • Incineroar also faces strong competition from other Fire- and Dark-types in the tier. As a physical Fire-type wallbreaker, it faces competition from Entei, which is much more powerful and faster than it, while as a Dark-type, it faces competition from Zarude and Krookodile, which offer much better role compression and utility.

Paragraph 1
  • Swords Dance allows Incineroar to boost its Attack, allowing it to increase its damage output and take out bulkier Pokemon, such as Celesteela.
  • Flare Blitz is Incineroar's most powerful attack, allowing it to deal with Bug- and Grass-types such as Buzzwole and Tangrowth while providing strong neutral coverage against foes like Galarian Moltres and Umbreon.
  • Knock Off is Incineroar's Dark-type STAB attack allowing it to bypass Fire resists such as Salamence and Tentacruel, and has the added bonus of removing items from its checks, such as Seismitoad and Kommo-o.
  • Earthquake is Incineroar's main method of hitting Rock-types, such as Rhyperior and Lycanroc-D. It also allows Incineroar to hit Aegislash without risking an Attack drop from King's Shield.
  • Heavy-Duty Boots gives Incineroar immunity to entry hazard damage, which is crucial, as Stealth Rocks would severely decrease its longevity otherwise.
  • Intimidate lowers Attack on entry, allowing Incineroar to tank non-STAB physical supereffective moves such as Zarude and Aegislash's Close Combat a bit better as well as blanket check Pokemon like Jirachi and Tapu Bulu.
  • An Adamant nature gives Incineroar a small chance of OHKOing physically defensive Amoonguss without the need for a Swords Dance boost, while a Jolly nature prevents Incineroar from speed-tying with Aegislash.

They also allow Inicneroar to utilize its defensive ability against foes like Jirachi and Zarude.
  • Incineroar greatly appreciates entry hazard support from Pokemon such as Rhyperior, Roserade, and Nihilego, which provides more chip damage so that Incineroar can muscle past opponents in the late game.
  • Electric- and Grass-types, such as Thundurus, Zarude, and Roserade, make great partners for Incineroar as they can check bulky Water-types like Pelipper and Seismitoad for it.
  • Steel-, and Grass-types like Cobalion, Aegislash, and Tangrowth help Nidoking deal with Rock-types like Lycanroc-D, Nihilego, and Diancie, which are some of its biggest counters. In return, Incineroar can sponge Fire-type attacks for these Pokemon.

  • Darkest Lariat can be used as the Dark-type STAB move over Knock Off for more consistent power, but removing items is much more beneficial to Incineroar's game plan, and the power decrease from a boosted Knock Off may lead to missing some important kills.
  • Close Combat can be used over Earthquake as the main coverage move to hit Dark-types like Umbreon and Krookodile harder while still hitting Rock-types like Rhyperior, but this results in Incineroar being walled even harder by Fairy-types such as Primarina and Sylveon, as well as the drops in defenses decreasing Incineroar's longevity.
  • A more defensive pivot set with a moveset of Knock Off / Overheat / Toxic / U-turn, a Sassy nature, and an EV spread of 252 HP / 20 Atk / 236 SpD can be used to take advantage of Incineroar's great defensive typing, access to Intimidate, and good utility movepool, allowing it to check more specially oriented Aegislash sets and Hatterene, but it is very passive and outclassed by other defensive pivots like Moltres.

Checks and Counters

**Water-types**: Keldeo and Azumarill both resist Incineroar's STAB combination, allowing them to easily pivot into Incineroar and force it out.

**Fighting-types**: Mienshao, Cobalion and Buzzwole can all take out Incineroar with ease using their STAB attacks, though the latter two do not like taking a Flare Blitz.

Incineroar works best on offensive teams as a powerful wallbreaker. Clerics such as Jirachi and Sylveon are greatly appreciated as partners, since their healing moves allow Incineroar to recover from the recoil damage caused by Flare Blitz and subsequently increasing its longevity. They also allow Incineroar to utilize its defensive ability against foes like Jirachi and Zarude. Seems off to say it fits on offensive teams then lead with the Jirachi set that mainly slots onto balance/stall, same thing @ Sylveon. I would remove this point and just replace Roserade in your hazard setter mentions with Jirachi, then expand on it giving Healing Wish support. Entry hazard removers such as Salamence, Tentacruel, and Rotom-W make great teammates for Incineroar as they can get rid of Stealth Rocks, which are one of Incineroar's biggest weaknesses if its Heavy-Duty Boots have been removed. Psychic-types such as Reuniclus, Galarian Slowbro, and Azelf can help deal with Fighting-types like Mienshao and Keldeo for Incineroar. Steel-, and Grass-types like Cobalion, Aegislash, and Tangrowth help Incineroar deal with Rock-types like Lycanroc-D, Nihilego, and Diancie, which are some of its biggest counters. None of these are counters, they just have the ability to revenge kill it, the bulkier ones being able to take a boosted EQ. In return, Incineroar can sponge Fire-type attacks for these Pokemon. Ribombee is a solid teammate for Incineroar because it can set up Sticky Webs, which gives Incineroar a method of fixing up its poor Speed tier.

Darkest Lariat can be used as the Dark-type STAB move over Knock Off for more consistent power, but removing items is much more beneficial to Incineroar's game plan, and the power decrease from a boosted Knock Off may lead to missing some important kills. For example, running Darkest Lariat over Knock Off will prevent Incineroar from OHKOing Assault Vest Reuniclus. Close Combat can be used over Earthquake as the main coverage move to hit Dark-types like Umbreon and Krookodile harder while still hitting Rock-types like Rhyperior, but this results in Incineroar being walled even harder by Fairy-types such as Primarina and Sylveon, Sylveon is not taking a +2 Blitz well. It is literally just so you aren't walled by Prima and Azu. as well as the drops in defenses decreasing Incineroar's longevity. It doesn't decrease longevity, it just means it might be forced out more often. A more defensive pivot set with a moveset of Knock Off / Overheat / Toxic / U-turn, a Sassy nature, and an EV spread of 252 HP / 20 Atk / 236 SpD can be used to take advantage of Incineroar's great defensive typing, access to Intimidate, and good utility movepool, allowing it to check more specially oriented Aegislash sets and Hatterene, but it is very passive and outclassed by other defensive pivots like Moltres.

Mention Flame Charge at the top of this list as a means of boosting its mediocre Speed but state the downside of having a much weaker Fire STAB

**Fighting-types**: Mienshao, Cobalion, and Buzzwole can all take out Incineroar with ease using their STAB attacks, though the latter two do not like taking a Flare Blitz. Kommo-o is especially dangerous to Incineroar, as it resists both of its STABs and can easily take advantage of it to set up or set hazards.

**Faster Pokemon**: Mamoswine, Thundurus, and Nidoking can all easily outspeed Incineroar and revenge kill it.

**Knock Off users**: Pokemon such as Obstagoon and Azelf can use Knock Off to remove Incineroar's Heavy-Duty Boots, which greatly hinders its longevity for the rest of the match.

[OVERVIEW]

A solid Attack stat and good coverage against a large amount of the tier allows Incineroar to carve a niche for itself as a set-up sweeper. Fire and Dark STAB allows it to take out many threats in the tier, such as Jirachi, Tangrowth, and Galarian Slowbro. A great defensive typing combined with access to Intimidate allows Incineroar to have some defensive utility, allowing it to soft check Pokemon such as Aegislash, Azelf, and Entei while letting it take hits from physical attackers such as Zarude with a bit more ease and giving it more chances to set up. Incineroar struggles to deal with Water-, Ground-, and Fighting-types such as Primarina, Rhyperior, and Keldeo, all of which are very popular. Incineroar is very reliant on Heavy-Duty Boots to maximize its longevity, which cuts back on its wallbreaking power and makes it very suspectible susceptible to Knock Off. This is made worse by Incineroar's poor speed tier, leaving it vulnerable to faster threats such as Thundurus and Nidoking. Incineroar also faces strong competition from other Fire- and Dark-types in the tier. As a physical Fire-type wallbreaker, it faces competition from Entei, which is much more powerful and faster than it, while as a Dark-type, it faces competition from Zarude and Krookodile, which offer much better role compression and utility.

Paragraph 1

Swords Dance allows Incineroar to boost its Attack, allowing it to increase its damage output and take out bulkier Pokemon, such as Celesteela. Flare Blitz is Incineroar's most powerful attack, allowing it to deal with Bug- and Grass-types Pokemon such as Buzzwole and Tangrowth while providing strong neutral coverage against foes like Galarian Moltres and Umbreon. Knock Off allows Incineroar to bypass Fire resists such as Salamence and Rotom-W, and has the added bonus of removing items from its checks, such as Seismitoad and Kommo-o. Earthquake is Incineroar's main method of hitting Rock-types, such as Rhyperior and Lycanroc-D. It hits Kommo-o, Keldeo, and Primarina, all of which resist both of Incineroar's STABs, and also allows Incineroar to hit Aegislash without risking an Attack drop from King's Shield. Heavy-Duty Boots gives Incineroar immunity to entry hazard damage, which is crucial, as Stealth Rocks would severely decrease its longevity otherwise. Intimidate allows Incineroar to tank non-STAB physical supereffective moves such as Aegislash's Close Combat a bit better as well as blanket check Pokemon like Jirachi and Zarude. An Adamant nature gives Incineroar a small chance of OHKOing physically defensive Amoonguss without the need for a Swords Dance boost, while a Jolly nature prevents Incineroar from speed-tying with Aegislash.

Paragraph 2

In return, Incineroar can take out Psychic- and Ghost-types such as Necrozma and Aegislash for them these Psychic types. Incineroar greatly appreciates entry hazard support from Pokemon such as Rhyperior, Roserade, and Nihilego, which provides more chip damage so that Incineroar can muscle past opponents like Buzzwole and Galarian Slowbro in the late game. Electric- and Grass-types, such as Thundurus, Zarude, and Roserade, make great partners for Incineroar as they can check bulky Water-types like Pelipper and Seismitoad for it.

Flare Blitz is Incineroar's most powerful attack, allowing it to deal with Pokemon such as Buzzwole and Tangrowth while providing strong neutral coverage against foes like Galarian Moltres and Umbreon. (I think these two sentences are not necessary. The first one definitely is not necessary considering it is a set about Swords Dance, but if you really want to include a sentence about Flare Blitz's high power, that is OK.) Knock Off allows Incineroar to bypass Fire resists such as Salamence and Rotom-W, and is a strong STAB move that has the added bonus of removing items from its Incineroar's checks, such as Seismitoad and Kommo-o. Earthquake is Incineroar's main method of hitting is used to hit Rock-types, such as Rhyperior and Lycanroc-D. Heavy-Duty Boots gives Incineroar immunity to entry hazard damage, which is crucial, as Stealth Rocks would severely decrease its longevity otherwise is crucial for avoiding Stealth Rock damage (no need to explain what HDB do, and this makes the sentence more succinct). Intimidate allows Incineroar to tank non-STAB physical supereffective some super effective physical (I think this is a little less convoluted than before) moves such as Aegislash's Close Combat a bit better as well as blanket check Pokemon like Jirachi and Zarude. Darkest Lariat can be used as the Dark-type STAB move over Knock Off for more consistent power, but removing items is much more beneficial to Incineroar's game plan, and the power decrease from a boosted Knock Off may lead to missing some important Koes KOs, like the OHKO on Assault Vest Reuniclus. Close Combat can be used over Earthquake as the main coverage move to hit Dark-types like Umbreon and Krookodile harder while still hitting Rock-types like Rhyperior, but it leaves Incineroar being walled even harder by Primarina and Azumarill,(RC) as well as the drops in defenses resulting in Incineroar being forced out more often and forces Incineroar to switch out more often due to the drops in defenses. A more defensive pivot set with a moveset of Knock Off / Overheat / Toxic / U-turn, a Sassy nature, and an EV spread of 252 HP / 20 Atk / 236 SpD can be used to take advantage of Incineroar's great defensive typing, access to Intimidate, and good utility movepool,(RC) allowing it to check more specially oriented Aegislash sets and Hatterene, but it is very passive and outclassed by other defensive pivots like Moltres.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Water-types**: Keldeo and Azumarill both resist Incineroar's STAB combination, allowing them to easily pivot switch into Incineroar and force it out. Primarina also resists Incineroar's STAB combination, and its RestTalk set allows it to heal off any damage that Incineroar might inflict on it, making it even harder to deal with. Bulkier Water-types, like Gastrodon, Rotom-W, and Pelipper, also resist Incineroar's main STAB move Flare Blitz and make it increasingly hard for Incineroar to wallbreak when they are present on a team.

**Fighting-types**: Mienshao, Cobalion,(AC) and Buzzwole can all take out Incineroar with ease using their STAB attacks, although the latter two do not like taking a Flare Blitz. Kommo-o is especially dangerous to Incineroar, as it resists both of its STAB moves and can easily take advantage of it to set up or set entry hazards.

**Rock-types**: Rhyperior can easily check Incineroar and force it to switch out. Lycanroc and Nihilego both easily outspeed Incineroar and put immense offensive pressure onto it, although both of these Pokemon do not like switching into an Earthquake. Diancie can easily take an unboosted Earthquake and threaten Incineroar with Diamond Storm.

**Faster Pokemon**: Mamoswine, Thundurus(remove/replace), and Nidoking can all easily outspeed Incineroar and revenge kill it.

**Knock Off Users**: Pokemon such as Obstagoon and Azelf can use Knock Off to remove Incineroar's Heavy-Duty Boots, which greatly hinders its longevity for the rest of the match.
