Pokemon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl - Release 19th Nov 2021

Do we have any screen grabs from the trailers or otherwise that show the in game stat screen of a Pokemon? Wondering how they'll order the information for quick viewing of your Pokemon.

Neither Tangrowth nor Glaceon were available in the OG DP dex, so this is certainly interesting. Of course, they should be available via the new underground encounters.

So in the original games how did it work? Underground had all of the previous gen Pokemon (1-3)? Or were they left to post game?

The only Pokemon you could get via the underground in the originals were the fossils. All the other Pokemon could be found through Swarms, PokeRadar, and Dual Slot Mode ( Having a GBA game at the bottom of the DS would adjust the encounter slots ).

There are a couple on the websites and an in-battle summary from the previews. In general the tabs seem like the originals and the in battle UI is basically built off of SWSH.

The UI may be based on SwSh, but it feels pretty close to the original DP. I love it! I really want to like this game...

I wish the stas names were also colored, but I appreciate the arrows. Maybe I was the stupid one, but I always used to think red = bad nature
Nope, not just you. "Red = Bad" and "Blue = Good" is pretty common so I think I would've made the same mistake if I didn't know some of the Natures before they did this.

Looks nice and clean, with a bit of an older styling to it. I Like it. I assuming when viewing the box you can hit a button like + in Sword and Shield to get a summary on the right side? Great for quick viewing an organizing, so I hope it returns.

The colors make sense in great context
Red is jsut as often "powered up" as it is "bad", and blue is "powered down" as it is "good"/calming/pleasing.
When you increase a state in battle, it's red. When you decrease a stat in battle, it's blue. That's pretty consistent everywhere, so they applied it to the natures too.

I think the problem I, and others, get is that when it is just colored text it kind of loses its context. When you raise a stat it doesnt just turn red, it has the added context of:
-you selecting the move
-there is a graphical effect
-that graphical effect usually points or moves "up"
-there's a message saying your stat went up

Same thing in the battle summary menu. Raised stats arent just red, they're bouncing up and they're represented by an arrow pointing up.

But on the stat menu it is just [stat name] in red. You have no other reference point or contextual marker, when you just view at a glance and arent immediately in "battle mode"
So it falls into one of those "this isnt a problem, necessarily, but can be hard to read" type deals. Something like the arrows is a nice & simple solution

Some speculation on my part. If they follow Let's Go, they will have regional variants of Pokes from Gen 4 and earlier. So that would include Alolan Meowth and Galarian Meowth. Which means Alolan Persian and Perrserker. And other Pokemon that have regional variants in their most unevolved form.

And it has me wondering about type changes. Some Pokemon had the fairy type added after generation 4. I'm wondering if these Pokemon will retain their fairy type, or will go back to how they were prior to Gen 4.

I'm pretty sure we've seen the Fairy type at some point in a trailer but even if we haven't, every remake that added new types stayed consistent with them (FRLG had Steel/Dark, ORAS had Fairy, Let's Go had all 3) so I am confident in saying the game does have Fairy

New footage time.
I have some issues with how they've handled some stuff but man this game looks gorgeous. The shifting from Chibi to regular models is kinda weird but other than that it looks really good

Also I wholeheartedly believe Flint's DP team is in this game. I mean, obviously I could be wrong, but considering we haven't seen anything relating to Electivire and Froslass (the aces of two gym leaders), but we've seen their aces from DP...yeah, it's Lopunny time

At the very least, this appearance of Volt Switch shows we'll have later Gen moves in the game (Volt Switch was introduced in Gen 5)

I'm honestly going to be shocked if the missing Pokemon from ATLEAST Gens 1-4 aren't patched into Sword/Shield

I wonder why they went this route. Hell they probably could've gotten away with just using the original sprites.

As depicted in the trailer, but easier to observe: mini-sprites are replaced with still images of their models.

Maybe after failing to get all the original 151 +2 sprites ready for LGPE and then for the alolan forms and few others in SWSH they said to 'fuck it, small models, i can do that in a week'

And I might be wrong, but the item sprites also seem to have changed. They look more defined.
Yeah they updated all of those

That definitely feels by design, though. Like SWSH kept doing it, and then the DLC kept doing it.

maybe they wanted bigger "sprites" for the poketch too so just went with the renders for the menu spries as well.

That would make sense, the render would be more easily scalable because, if I recall, sometimes the Apps increased the sprite so much it stopped looking like the Pokemon and more a mass of squares (and not helping was the Poketch was monochrome).
