RU Diancie [QC: 2/2][GP 2/2]

Diancie-Modell.png

[OVERVIEW]

Diancie's defensive typing and bulk make it a great wall in RU that checks common threats such as Togekiss, Noivern, and Chandelure. It is also a reliable Stealth Rock setter that pressures various Defoggers such as Crobat and Noivern with its powerful Diamond Storm, and it provides additional support with Heal Bell. Diamond Storm’s high chance of boosting Diancie’s Defense can make it difficult to revenge kill and strengthens its Body Press, making it less passive. However, Diancie's lack of reliable recovery and susceptibility to entry hazards and status moves make it easy to wear down over the course of the battle or at least force it to be more passive with Heal Bell. Its typing leaves it weak to common threats such as Cobalion, Metagross, Volcanion, and Roserade, as well as the common spinners Dhelmise and Starmie. In addition, Diancie often invites fearsome threats such as Nidoqueen and Golurk in, and setup sweepers such as Reuniclus, Celebi, and Toxicroak can turn it into setup fodder due to its mediocre offensive stats and movepool. Diancie faces competition from other specially defensive Stealth Rock setters such as Registeel, Bronzong, and Stakataka, which have more advantageous typings with important resistances to types like Fairy, Psychic, and Grass to better check threats like Gardevoir and Roserade.

[SET COMMENTS]

Diancie's good typing and bulk give it many opportunities to lay down Stealth Rock safely. Body Press deals with Steel-types such as Registeel, Lucario, and Cobalion that try to take advantage of Diancie and has good synergy with Diamond Storm's high chance to boost Defense. Heal Bell is also a great choice, since it makes Diancie less susceptible to status and can relieve a teammate from the cleric role. Toxic cripples bulky foes such as Gastrodon, Milotic, and Dhelmise and gives a better matchup against Togekiss, since bulky variants can stall out Diamond Storm with Roost. 20 Speed EVs allow Diancie to outspeed Sassy Incineroar. This investment also allows Diancie to outspeed standard Golisopod, and alongside 20 Attack EVs, always activate its Emergency Exit with Diamond Storm. The remaining EVs are invested into HP and Special Defense to better check threats such as Togekiss, Noivern, and Gardevoir. A more physically defensive spread can be run to better check physical threats such as Darmanitan, Entei, and Obstagoon with the nice additional effect of a strong Body Press.

Balance and bulky offense teams appreciate Diancie reliably setting Stealth Rock and checking common threats such as Togekiss, Noivern, and Darmanitan. Grass-types such as Roserade, Celebi, Rotom-C, and Dhelmise are great teammates for Diancie, as they take on Water-types such as Milotic, Starmie, and Gastrodon while also handling Raikou and Xurkitree. The first two mentioned also act as status absorbers, while the last two are reliable entry hazard removers. In return, Diancie checks Fire- and Flying-types like Darmanitan, Noivern, and Crobat. Electric-types such as Xurkitree and Raikou also deal with Water-types and beat Xatu and bulky Togekiss, which Diancie struggles with, especially if it lacks Toxic. Flying-types like Noivern, Crobat, and Talonflame check troublesome Grass-types like Roserade and Dhelmise, provide Defog support, and offer an important Ground immunity. Bulky Water- and Ground-types such as Milotic, Gastrodon, and defensive Flygon check offensive Steel-types like Cobalion, Metagross, and Lucario. Fighting-types such as Heracross, Pangoro, and Lucario, on the other hand, check defensive Steel-types like Bronzong and Steelix for Diancie. They appreciate its ability to check Flying-types for them and lay down Stealth Rock. Cobalion deserves a special mention, since it can switch into opposing Knock Off and appreciates Diancie taking over its role as a Stealth Rock setter. Umbreon and Vaporeon are great teammates for Diancie, since they provide Wish support and check various threats that Diancie cannot check such as Nidoqueen, Volcanion, and Starmie. In return, Diancie relieves them of the cleric role. Ghost- and Dark-types such as Chandelure, Incineroar, and Obstagoon check Calm Mind Reuniclus, Nasty Plot Celebi, and the common spinners Starmie and Dhelmise reliably, which take huge advantage of Diancie. The Spikes setters Roserade and Golisopod have good defensive synergy with Diancie and form a decent hazard-stacking core with it.

Power Gem has more PP then Diamond Storm, making it better in the long term and against threats such as Xatu and Togekiss. However, Diamond Storm's Defense boosts make it usually better. Moonblast enables Diancie to better deal with Pokemon such as Heracross and Flygon, and its high chance of lowering Special Attack comes in handy against common threats such as Nidoqueen and Calm Mind Reuniclus. Unfortunately, Moonblast is hard to fit over another move. Earth Power is an option for the last moveslot to hit Nidoqueen, Doublade, Toxtricity, and Toxicroak super effectively. However, it does little else and only 3HKOes Nidoqueen, while Doublade and Toxtricity are rather uncommon. Encore better handles Calm Mind Reuniclus but is hard to fit over another move, since it has low use outside of this. More offensive sets such as offensive Trick Room, bulky Calm Mind, Rock Polish sweeper, and Meteor Beam + Power Herb are quite conceivable. However, Pokemon such as Stakataka, Reuniclus, and Necrozma perform these roles much better due to their better offensive stats.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Offensive Steel-types such as Cobalion, Lucario, and Metagross put Diancie under immense pressure with their super effective STAB attacks. However, the former two struggle to switch in, since they take good damage from Diancie's Body Press. Defensive Steel-types such as Steelix and Bronzong take less from Body Press and OHKO Diancie with either Heavy Slam or Gyro Ball. If Registeel lacks Heavy Slam, the best it can do is weaken Diancie with Toxic. Despite being able to OHKO Diancie with Gyro Ball, Stakataka is slower then it and takes a lot from Body Press, especially offensive variants. However, every mentioned Steel-type stumbles as soon as Diancie has a Defense increase from Diamond Storm, since they take more damage from Body Press and cause less damage to it. Doublade easily uses Diancie as setup fodder due its typing and high physical bulk, but Doublade is very uncommon and must watch out for Earth Power.

**Ground-types**: Nidoqueen and Golurk do heavy damage to Diancie with their powerful STAB moves and easily switch into it, since they take little from its attacks; only Golurk dislikes Toxic. Flygon can pressure Diancie with its strong Earthquake but can lose the matchup if Diancie's Defense is boosted through Diamond Storm. Diancie has also to watch out for Ground-type coverage from Pokemon such as Darmanitan.

**Grass-types**: Grass-types such as Roserade and Rotom-C threaten Diancie with their powerful Grass-type STAB attacks but fail to OHKO Diancie and take a lot from its Diamond Storm. Nasty Plot Celebi with Recover uses Diancie as setup fodder, but utility variants have a rather shaky matchup against it, since Grass Knot does not do much to it. Dhelmise has a high chance to OHKO Diancie and can remove Stealth Rock through Rapid Spin. Bulky Grass-types such as Vileplume have nothing to fear from Diancie.

**Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Gastrodon, Milotic, and Suicune have little to fear from Diancie's attacks and threaten it with either a burn through Scald or Toxic. However, Gastrodon and Milotic dislike Toxic, though Suicune can play around it with either Rest or Substitute. Offensive Water-types such as Starmie, Sharpedo, and Volcanion take a lot from Diancie's attacks, but once they get a safe switch in, they can either KO a weakened Diancie or force it out with their powerful STAB moves.

**Strong Wallbreakers**: Powerful wallbreakers such as Pangoro, Guts Heracross, and Choice Specs Chandelure easily overwhelm Diancie with their attacks. However, they all take a lot from Diancie's attacks.

**Setup Sweepers**: Setup sweepers such as Calm Mind Reuniclus, Nasty Plot Celebi, and Toxicroak take little from Diancie's attacks and do not care about Toxic due to their abilities or typing, which enable them to use Diancie as setup fodder.

**Passive Damage and Trick**: Since Diancie lacks recovery besides Leftovers, it is easy to wear it down over time with chip damage from entry hazards and burn or poison. In addition, many Pokemon Diancie switches into can cripple it, such as Chandelure and Darmanitan with Toxic or Entei with Sacred Fire. Diancie can cure its status with Heal Bell, but this makes it more passive. Beyond that, Diancie is a team's main answer to Dark-types, meaning it will often lose its Leftovers quickly through Knock Off from Pokemon such as Incineroar and Obstagoon. Trick users such as Darmanitan, Chandelure, and Gardevoir limit Diancie by giving it a Choice item with Trick and stealing its only recovery in Leftovers.

Yourwelcomethanku gave me a great AMCheck that was unfortunately lost, but he had re-created it for me on request and I implemented many points from it. So thank you very much for your AMCheck

Diancie is more niche nowadays B+ on the VR competing with Registeel as an SR setter who has a Fairy, Psychic and Grass resist which helps vs stuff like Gardevoir, certain Necrozma variants and Roserade. Despite being Fire weak the tier has plenty of good Fire resists such as Flygon Noivern and Milotic also the premier Fire-type is Volcanion. Diancie's main niche imo comes in Heal bell as there isn't much reason to use it otherwise. Despite having Heal Bell slashed on the set it is mentioned in many areas Diancie's weakness to status.

  • Diancie's defensive typing and bulk make it to a great wall that check common threats such as Togekiss, Noivern, and Chandelure.
  • It is also a reliable Stealth Rock setter that beats various defoggers such as Crobat, Noivern, and Xatu (Xatu can roost shed its rock typing to stall all 8 Diamond Storms and beat Diancie.) with its powerful Diamond Storm.
  • Diamond Storm’s high chance of boosting Diancie’s Defensive makes it sometimes difficult to revenge kills and its Body Press stronger, meaning it gets a better match-up against opposing Pokemon and less passive.
  • However, Diancie's lack of reliable recovery and susceptibility to every entry hazard and status ailments make it easy to wear down over the course of the battle.
  • Its typing leaves it weak to common threats such as Cobalion, Metagross, Golurk, and Celebi. In addition, its weaknesses to Water and Grass leave it vulnerable to the common Rapid Spinners Dhelmise and Starmie.
  • Diancie is also prone to invite fearsome threats such as Nidoqueen and Golurk for free while setup sweepers such as Reuniclus, Celebi, and Toxicroak can turn it into their setup fodder due to its mediocre offensive stats and movepool. (I think you can combine these 2 points of it being weak to common Pokemon and inviting in threats. Also you mention Golurk in both points.
  • It faces competitions from Stakataka as a bulky Rock-type and Stealth Rock setter and from Togekiss as a bulky Fairy-type due to their secondary typing and role compression, which might them more advantageous for a team. (Diancie doesn't really compete with Togekiss they don't share similar utility or defensive profiles something that Diancie does actually compete with is Registeel which is also a specially defensive SR setter.
you can also mention that Diancie often times takes the place of a Steel-type which can leave its team vulnerable to stuff like Gardevoir and Roserade

  • Diancie good typing and bulk give it many opportunities to set up Stealth Rock safely.
  • Diamond Storm gives it a good match-up against common entry hazard controls such as Noivern, Xatu,(Xatu beats Diancie) and Crobat.
  • Body Press deals with Steel-types such as Registeel, Lucario, and Cobalion that try to take advantage of Diancie and has a good synergy with Diamond Storm's high Defensive boost chance.
  • Toxic cripples bulky foes such as Gastrodon, Milotic, and Dhelmise. I think it would be good too mention that Diancie needs Toxic to actually beat Togekiss 1v1.
  • Heal Bell is a good option, if the team wants cleric support but cannot fit it otherwise. (If Diancie is used alongside another mon with cleric support its more often that the Umbreon or Vaporeon is releived of cleric duties. Heal Bell is just great and I think your underselling it)
  • 20 Speed EVs allows Diancie to outspeed Sassy Incineroar, avoiding Incineroar can switch out with U-turn.
  • This investment also allows Diancie to outspeed standard Golisopod and alongside 20 Attacke EVs it always activiates its Emergency Exit with Diamond Storm.
  • The reminding EVs are invested into HP and Special Defensive to better check threats such as Togekiss, Noivern, and Gardevoir. A more physically defensive variant can be run to better check physical threats such as Darmanitan, Entei, and Obstagoon with the nice additional effect of a strong Body Press.

  • Balance and bulky offensive teams appreciate Diancie's ability to setup Stealth Rock reliable and check common threats such as Togekiss, Noivern, and Darmanitan.
  • Grass-types such as Roserade, Celebi, Rotom-C and Dhelmise (Might be worth mentioning that Dhelmise is also a good Flygon check.)are great teammates for Diancie as they take on Water-types such as Milotic, Starmie, and Gastrodon while also act either as a status absorber or entry hazard control. In return, Diancie checks Fire- and Flying-types like Darmanitan, Noivern, and Crobat for them.
  • Flygon, Noivern, and Crobat providing Defog support while also checking troublesome Ground-types like Nidoqueen (None of these are great Nidoqueen checks it does run Ice Beam. and it can take a hit from all of them even Utility Flygon which is the set that runs Defog.) and Golurk for Diancie. (Crobat is especially good because it counters Roserade and Diancie often times takes the slot of steel which can make your team Roserade weak.
  • Bulky Water- and Ground-types such as Milotic, Gastrodon, and defensive Flygon check offensive Steel-types like Cobalion, Metagross, and Lucario.
  • Fighting-types such as Heracross, Pangoro and Lucario, on the other hand, check defensive Steel-types like Bronzong and Steelix for Diancie and appreciate its ability to check Flying-types for them and lay down Stealth Rock. Cobalion deserves a special mention, since it can also switch into opposing Knock Offs and appreciates Diancie's ability to relieve it from the role as a Stealth Rock setter.
  • Umbreon and Vaporeon are great teammates for Diancie, since they provide Wish support and check various threats that Diancie cannot check such as Nidoqueen, Volcanion, and Starmie. In return, Diancie takes the role as a cleric to relieve them.
  • Ghost- and Dark-type such as Chandelure, Inicineroar, and Obstagoon check Calm Mind Reuniclus, Nasty Plot Celebi, and the common Rapid Spinners Starmie and Dhelmise reliable which take huge advantage of Diancie.
  • The Spike setters Roserade and Golisopod have a good defensive synergy with Diancie and form a great hazard stacking core with it. (Diancie isn't good in spike stack teams since it itself doesn't like opposing Spikes.)
I Would mention the Electric-types of the tier Raikou and Xurkitree as secondary Togekiss checks because Heal Bell Diancie loses to Togekiss 1v1

  • Earth Power is an option on the last move slot to hit Nidoqueen, Doublade, Toxtricity, and Toxicroak super effective. However, it has few notable advantages outside of these and only 3HKOes Nidoqueen while Doublade and Toxtricity are rather uncommon.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Offensive Steel-types such as Cobalion, Lucario, and Metagross easily knock out Diancie with their respective Steel-type STAB attacks. However, the aforementioned two struggle to switch-in, since they take good damage from Diancie's Body Press. Defensive Steel-types such as Steelix and Bronzong take less from Body Press and OHKO Diancie with either Heavy Slam or Gyro Ball. Despite being able to OHKO Diancie with Gyro Ball, Stakataka is slower then Diancie and takes a lot from Body Press, especially offensive variants. Doublade easily use Diancie as a setup fodder due its typing and high physical bulk, but Doublade is very uncommon and must watch out for Earth Power. The best Registeel can do is to cripple Diancie with Toxic, but otherwise Registeel has a rather unfavourable match-up against Diancie due to its strong Body Press.

(a chipped Cobalion, Stakataka, and Steelix can all lose to Diancie if it gets a boost from Diamond Storm.)
**Ground-types**: Powerful Ground-types such as Flygon,(Flygon loses if you get a boost. Golurk, and Nidoqueen do heavy damage to Diancie with their powerful STAB moves. The aforementioned two can also easily switch into Diancie, since they take little from its attack moves; only Golurk dislikes getting crippled by Toxic. Diancie has also to watch out for Ground-type coverage from Pokemon such as Darmanitan and Necrozma. This has Psychic STAB anyways

**Grass-types**: Grass-types such as Roserade and Rotom-C threaten Diancie with their powerful their respective Both have Leaf StormGrass-type STAB attacks but fail to OHKO Diancie and take a lot from its Diamond Storm. Nasty Plot Celebi with either Recover or Giga Drain Leaf Storm (I am writing the Celebi analysis and giga drain ain't even on it lol.)use Diancie as a setup fodder while utility variants have a rather shaky match-up against it, since Grass Knot does not much to Diancie. Dhelmise has a high chance to OHKO Diancie and removes its Stealth Rock through Rapid Spin. Bulky Grass-types such as Vileplume have nothing to fear from Diancie. Pokemon such as Xurkitree and Chandelure often carry a Grass-type coverage move, making Diancie unable to check them reliable. (Diancie is easily warn down by these anyways Chandelure can just blast you with specs attacks with is probably its best set rn, and Xurkitree can do Thunderbolt into Volt Switch which really hurts.)

**Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Gastrodon, Milotic, and Suicune fear nothing from Diancie's attacks (If you get real lucky avoiding Scald burns and getting Diamond storm boosts you could beat them if your Toxic.and threaten it with either a burn through Scald or Toxic. However, Diancie can cripple them with its own Toxic, but Suicune can play around it with either Rest or Substitute while Milotic can cleric itself with Refresh. Offensive Water-types such as Starmie, Sharpedo, and Volcanion take a lot from Diancie's attacks, but once they get a safe switch-in, they can either knock out a weakened Diancie or force it out with their powerful STAB moves.

**Strong Physical Wallbreakers**: Powerful wallbreaker such as Pangoro, Guts Heracross, and Obstagoon can easily overwhelm(Obstagoon doesn't easily overwhelm Diancie considering it can swap in twice maybe three times.) Diancie with their powerful attacks. However, they all takes a lot from Diancie's attackes. (typo

**Setup Sweeper**: Setup sweeper such as Calm Mind Reuniclus, Nasty Plot Celebi, and Toxicroak take little from Diancie's attacks and do not care about Toxic due to their abilities or typing, which enable them to use Diancie as a setup fodder.

**Passive Damage and Trick user**: Since Diancie lacks any recover besides Leftovers, it is easy to wear down Diancie over the over the course of the battle with chip damage from entry hazards and either burn or poison. In addition, it is also easy to status Diancie, since many Pokemon Diancie switches in can cripple it such as Chandelure and Darmanitan with Toxic or Entei with a burn through Sacred Fire. Beyond that, Diancie is often the Dark resist of choice, meaning it will often lose its Leftovers quickly through a Knock Off from Pokemon such as Incineroar and Obstagoon. Trick users such as Darmanitan, Chandelure, and Gardevoir limit Diancie by tricking it their Choice item and stealing its only recovery in Leftovers.

Definitely include a mention of moonblast in other options. It lets Diancie emergency check Heracross, damage Golurk, and immediately threaten Flygon. Provided you get the drop, it’s also useful in softening up switch-ins like Nidoqueen and CM Reuniclus. The rest is solid qc 2/2
Thank you very much phantom. Implemented and ready for the GP-checks

Diancie Diancie’s good typing and bulk give it many opportunities to lay down Stealth Rock safely. Diamond Storm gives it a good match-up against common Defoggers such as Noivern and Crobat.(said this in the opening) Body Press deals with Steel-types such as Registeel, Lucario, and Cobalion that try to take advantage of Diancie and has a good synergy with Diamond Storm's high Defensive boost chance chance to boost Diancie’s Defence. [OVERVIEW]
Diancie's defensive typing and bulk make it to a great wall in RU that check checks common threats such as Togekiss, Noivern, and Chandelure. It is also a reliable Stealth Rock setter that pressures various defoggers Defoggers such as Crobat and Noivern with its powerful Diamond Storm,(AC) and provides additional support with Heal Bell additionally support. Diamond Storm’s high chance of boosting Diancie’s Defensive Defense makes it sometimes difficult to revenge kill kills and its Body Press gets stronger, meaning it becomes gets a better match-up against opposing Pokemon and less passive. However, Diancie's lack of reliable recovery and susceptibility to every entry hazard and status ailments entry hazards and status moves make it easy to wear down over the course of the battle or to force it to act more passive by healing itself with Heal Bell. Its typing leaves it weak to common threats such as Cobalion, Metagross, Volcanion, and Roserade and its weaknesses to Water and Grass leave it vulnerable to the common Rapid Spinners spinners Dhelmise and Starmie. In addition, Diancie is also prone to invite fearsome threats such as Nidoqueen and Golurk for free while setup sweepers such as Reuniclus, Celebi, and Toxicroak can turn it into their setup fodder due to its mediocre offensive stats and movepool. It Diancie faces competitions competition from other specially defensive Stealth Rock setters such as Registeel, Bronzong, and Stakataka, which may have more advantageous typings that can be are more important to a team such as an important Fairy-, Psychic- and Grass-resistance to better check threats like Gardevoir and Roserade.

Heal Bell is also a great choice because, among other things, it supports the team additionally, makes Diancie less subsceptible to status ailments, and can relieve a teammate from the cleric role. Toxic cripples bulky foes such as Gastrodon, Milotic, and Dhelmise and gives a better match-up against Togekiss, since bulky variants can stall out Diamond Storm with Roost. 20 Speed EVs allows Diancie to outspeed Sassy Incineroar, avoiding Incineroar can switch out with U-turn. This investment also allows Diancie to outspeed standard Golisopod and alongside 20 Attacke Attack EVs it always activiates its Emergency Exit with Diamond Storm. The reminding EVs are invested into HP and Special Defence Defensive to better check threats such as Togekiss, Noivern, and Gardevoir. A more physically defensive variant can be run to better check physical threats such as Darmanitan, Entei, and Obstagoon with the nice additional effect of a strong Body Press.

Balance and bulky offensive teams appreciate Diancie's ability to reliably setup Stealth Rock reliable and check common threats such as Togekiss, Noivern, and Darmanitan. Grass-types such as Roserade, Celebi, Rotom-C, and Dhelmise are great teammates for Diancie as they take on Water-types such as Milotic, Starmie, and Gastrodon, but also on while also handling Raikou and Xurkitree. The first two mentions also act as status absorber absorbers, while the last two are reliable entry hazard controls controllers. In return, Diancie checks Fire- and Flying-types like Darmanitan, Noivern, and Crobat. Electric-types such as Xurkitree and Raikou also deal with Water-types, but also while beating with Xatu and bulky Togekiss that Diancie struggles with, especially if it lacks Toxic in case of Togekiss. Flying-types like Noivern, Crobat, and Talonflame check troublesome Grass-types like Roserade and Dhelmise, providing provide Defog support, and an important Ground-immunity. Bulky Water- and Ground-types such as Milotic, Gastrodon, and defensive Flygon check offensive Steel-types like Cobalion, Metagross, and Lucario. Fighting-types such as Heracross, Pangoro and Lucario, on the other hand, check defensive Steel-types like Bronzong and Steelix for Diancie and appreciate its ability to check Flying-types for them and lay down Stealth Rock. Cobalion deserves a special mention, since it can also switch into opposing Knock Offs and appreciates Diancie's ability to relieve it from the role as a Stealth Rock setter. Umbreon and Vaporeon are great teammates for Diancie, since they provide Wish support and check various threats that Diancie cannot check such as Nidoqueen, Volcanion, and Starmie. In return, Diancie takes the role as a cleric to relieve them. Ghost- and Dark-types type such as Chandelure, Inicineroar, and Obstagoon check Calm Mind Reuniclus, Nasty Plot Celebi, and the common Rapid Spinners spinners Starmie and Dhelmise reliable reliably which take huge advantage of Diancie. The Spike setters Roserade and Golisopod have a good defensive synergy with Diancie and form a decent hazard stacking core with it.

Power Gem has more PP then Diamond Storm, making it better in the long-term and against threats such as Xatu and Togekiss. However, Diamond Storm's high Defensive boost chance of a Defence boost helps Dianice often a lot and matches well with Body Press. Moonblast enables Diancie to better deal with Pokemon such as Heracross and Flygon while its high chance of lowering the Special Attack Attacke comes in handy against common threats such as Nidoqueen and Calm Mind Reuniclus. Unfortunately, Moonblast as hard to use is hard to fit over another move. Earth Power is an option on the last move slot to hit Nidoqueen, Doublade, Toxtricity, and Toxicroak super effective effectively. However, it has few notable advantages outside of these and only 3HKOes Nidoqueen while Doublade and Toxtricity are rather uncommon. Encore allows Diancie to better deal with Calm Mind Reuniclus, but is hard to fit over another move, since it has less use outside of this. More offensive variants such as offensive Trick Room, bulky Calm Mind, Rock Polish sweeper, or Meteor Beam + Power Herb are quite conceivable. However, Pokemon such as Stakataka, Reuniclus, and Necrozma perform these roles much better due to their better stats.

Checks and Counters
===================

**Steel-types**: Offensive Steel-types such as Cobalion, Lucario, and Metagross put Diancie under immense pressure with their respective Steel-type super effective STAB attacks. However, the aforementioned former two struggle to switch-in, since they take good damage from Diancie's Body Press. Defensive Steel-types such as Steelix and Bronzong take less from Body Press and OHKO Diancie with either Heavy Slam or Gyro Ball. If Registeel lacks Heavy Slam, the best it can do is to weaken it with Toxic. Despite being able to OHKO Diancie with Gyro Ball, Stakataka is slower then Diancie and takes a lot from Body Press, especially offensive variants. However, every Steel-type stumbles as soon as Diancie has a Defense increase from Diamond Storm, since they take more damage from Body Press and cause less damage to it. Doublade easily use uses Diancie as a setup fodder due its typing and high physical bulk, but Doublade is very uncommon and must watch out for Earth Power.

**Ground-types**: Nidoqueen and Golurk are powerful Ground-types that do heavy damage to Diancie with their powerful STAB moves and also easily switch into Diancie, since they take little from its attack moves attacks; only Golurk dislikes getting crippled by Toxic. Flygon can pressure Diancie with its strong Earthquake, but can lose the match-up if Diancie's Defense is boosted through Diamond Storm. Diancie has also to watch out for Ground-type coverage from Pokemon such as Darmanitan.

**Grass-types**: Grass-types such as Roserade and Rotom-C threaten Diancie with their powerful their respective Grass-type STAB attacks but fail to OHKO Diancie and take a lot from its Diamond Storm. Nasty Plot Celebi with Recover use uses Diancie as a setup fodder while utility variants have a rather shaky match-up against it, since Grass Knot does not do much to it. Dhelmise has a high chance to OHKO Diancie and removes its remove Stealth Rock through Rapid Spin. Bulky Grass-types such as Vileplume have nothing to fear from Diancie.

**Water-types**: Bulky Water-types such as Gastrodon, Milotic, and Suicune have little to fear from Diancie's attacks and threaten it with either a burn through Scald or Toxic. However, Gastrodon and Milotic dislike Diancie's Toxic while Suicune can play around it with either Rest or Substitute. Offensive Water-types such as Starmie, Sharpedo, and Volcanion take a lot from Diancie's attacks, but once they get a safe switch-in, they can either knock out KO a weakened Diancie or force it out with their powerful STAB moves.

**Strong Wallbreakers**: Powerful wallbreaker wallbreakers such as Pangoro, Guts Heracross, and Choice Specs Chandelure easily overwhelm Diancie with their powerful attacks. However, they all takes a lot from Diancie's attacks.

**Setup Sweeper Sweepers**: Setup sweeper sweepers such as Calm Mind Reuniclus, Nasty Plot Celebi, and Toxicroak take little from Diancie's attacks and do not care about Toxic due to their abilities or typing, which enable them to use Diancie as a setup fodder.

**Passive Damage and Trick user**: Since Diancie lacks any recover recovery besides Leftovers, it is easy to wear down Diancie over the over the course of the battle with chip damage from entry hazards and either burn or poison. In addition, it is also easy to status Diancie, since many Pokemon Diancie switches in into can cripple it such as Chandelure and Darmanitan with Toxic or Entei with a burn through Sacred Fire. Here it Diancie can solve this issue with Heal Bell, but this makes Diancie more passive. Beyond that, Diancie is often the Dark-type resist of choice, meaning it will often lose its Leftovers quickly through a Knock Off from Pokemon such as Incineroar and Obstagoon. Trick users such as Darmanitan, Chandelure, and Gardevoir limit Diancie by tricking it their Choice item and stealing its only recovery in Leftovers.

Diamond Storm’s high chance of boosting Diancie’s Defense can make it difficult to revenge kill and strengthens its Body Press, meaning it becomes making it less passive. However, Diancie's lack of reliable recovery and susceptibility to (spacing) entry hazards and status moves make it easy to wear down over the course of the battle, (RC) or at least force it to be more passive with Heal Bell.

Diancie's good typing and bulk give it many opportunities to lay down Stealth Rock safely. Body Press deals with Steel-types such as Registeel, Lucario, and Cobalion that try to take advantage of Diancie and has a good synergy with Diamond Storm's high chance to boost Defense. Heal Bell is also a great choice, since it makes Diancie less susceptible to status and can relieve a teammate from the cleric role. Toxic cripples bulky foes such as Gastrodon, Milotic, and Dhelmise and gives a better match-up matchup against Togekiss, since bulky variants can stall out Diamond Storm with Roost.

Grass-types such as Roserade, Celebi, Rotom-C, and Dhelmise are great teammates for Diancie, as they take on Water-types such as Milotic, Starmie, and Gastrodon while also handling (spacing) Raikou and Xurkitree. The first two mentions mentioned also act as status absorbers, while the last two are reliable entry hazard removers. Ghost- and Dark-types such as Chandelure, Inicineroar Incineroar, and Obstagoon check Calm Mind Reuniclus, Nasty Plot Celebi, and the common spinners Starmie and Dhelmise reliably, which take huge advantage of Diancie.

Earth Power is an option in for the last moveslot to hit Nidoqueen, Doublade, Toxtricity, and Toxicroak super effectively.

===================

**Ground-types**: Nidoqueen and Golurk do heavy damage to Diancie with their powerful STAB moves and easily switch into Diancie it, since they take little from its attacks; only Golurk dislikes Toxic. Flygon can pressure Diancie with its strong Earthquake but can lose the match-up matchup if Diancie's Defense is boosted through Diamond Storm.

Nasty Plot Celebi with Recover uses Diancie as setup fodder, (AC) but utility variants have a rather shaky match-up matchup against it, since Grass Knot does not do much to it.

However, Gastrodon and Milotic dislike Diancie's Toxic, although Suicune can play around it with either Rest or Substitute.

**Passive Damage and Trick**: Since Diancie lacks recovery besides Leftovers, it is easy to wear it down Diancie over time with chip damage from entry hazards and burn or poison.
