This is honestly valid, I understand the scum lean as far as this is concerned. However, I ISOed him to check his push on Vizh and:

A policy vote is where you vote someone out not necessarily because you think they're mafia, but for other reasons. Hal's positioning himself as the obvious nightkill target, which means that in a few days if he's still here, he's probably scum. If he's town, therefore, scum don't kill him so that we waste a day on him later.
Claiming pr (power role) is the main way he's doing this. Scum nightkill A) power roles or B) town leaders. Power roles tend to play more under the radar for that reason. Hal foregoing that on Day 1 is placing town in a catch-22.

knowing psy/cel a bit would argue they're both town based on their analysis approach (psy giving a post recap from what reads to me as a town tone). cel read intent here feels town:
middle of the road on the vizh read & knowing vizh as well, after iso can see a world where posts that may be interpreted as scummy to experienced players not being scummy in reality. too early to fall on one side of the fence for me

would like to hear Whydon's reasoning for the dyo read because i don't rlly agree, this to me reads as a dyo that's town and is trying to compensate for lack of d1 postcount (like me!) and doesn't want to be misread as scum:
it's a videogame that Ryo really likes, it's basically just Avalon/Resistance/Secret Hitler with some embellishments depending on the mode.
yeah it's basically resistance with a small fraction of the playerbase, ftp on steam and fun with friends
