It's a interesting list honestly, and I think they made a wise choice in purposely skipping most of the latest gens since they are...well...fresh and have their own games already.

Does surprise me to see so little gen 6 representation, though.

Edit: HOLD THE DOOR, why isn't Charizard in.
Must be fake, clearly.
 
My opinions on all the new mons.

I love: Hisuina Samurott, Hisuian Weavile, Hisuian Goodra, Hisuian Zoroark, Hisuian Typhlosion, Hisuian Growlithe, Hisuian Sneasel, Hisuian Liligant

I like: Basculegion, Hisuian Palkia, Hisuian Ursaring

I kind of like: Hisuian Arcanine

Unsure: The new genie, Hisuian Avalugg

I dislike: Everything else.

Sliggoo and Goodra + Bergmite line did get a Hisuian form, so at the very least, this Generation got something.
 
Oh, son of a gun.

I just remembered the genies of healthy meta don't get Flying STABs unless they're physically green.

Fingers crossed for Agile-Style Fly (1) existing and (2) actually being agile, or else new genie may be limited to something like Gleam.

To be fair, they all got Fly, which actually was relevant in gen 8 and a big part of what made Thundurus actually better than Lando (combined with one of the most broken VGC abilities in Defiant).

Obviously likely to be back to "hah we have no flying stab" in gen 9 without dynamax, though.
 
Very interesting spread of forms/evolutions here, I' mreally interested in seeing them in motion.

Decidueye's is definitely the coolest. I like Samurott's new shells too. Typhlosion is dopey but in a good way, I really look forward to seeing it light up.

I'm really surprised Electrode didn't go the "old man" way of things. Bit of a missed opportunity. It doesn't look happy, poor thing.
Arcanine's pretty cool, a nice tweak on the classic design.
Sneasel, Basculin are kinda whatever. The Alolan & Galarian forms that are basically just color swaps with a few other details tweaked have never been my favorite. Qwilfish's works for me, though.
Avalugg looks incredible! Honestly could be an evolution.
Lilligant also looks great, though it frankly could have been called a new Pokemon.
Sliggoo & Goodra being snails is a great twist, they look fantastic; pretty sad looking though.

Ursaring evolution is great, really want to see that more.
Qwilfish evolution seems a pretty standard way to go about it, but I want to see more of it to figure out what's going on with the horn situation above its mouth.
Sneasel evolution is the only one I just don't like. Little too "basic humanoid" for me, i dont like the flat face.

The new Dialga & Palkia are...freaks of nature. It gives me similar vibes to Kyurem's forms: a sense that this isn't right and that something went wrong. Want to see how these things move around.

The new forces of anture is..................interesting? I dont hate the designs or anything (the therian form in particular is very cool once I realized it was genbu) but it's so inexplicable.

That is an interesting read and honestly... maybe you're not far from truth?

The original Sinnoh games ultimately were about a guy who decided to use the Deity of Time/Space to destroy the universe and remake it as he wanted, so I can't necessarly exclude something on these lines happening either, maybe the actual plot is about someone trying to forcefully inject into ""Sinnoh"" the power of Arceus? Or to create a clone of ""Sinnoh"" and made these abominations who'd then turn into the present Palkia / Dialga?

Since they were all one being originally, I imagine the intent is, yeah, force out Arceus and try and recreate the "true" original one

but you can't just slap two of them together like that. It's clear they're missing pieces from not having all the components at once. Even ignoring the rest of their design, just look at their respective rings: dialga has the points of the mandala but palkia only has the circles.


And this isn't even accounting for there not being a Giratina in the mix!

Calling it, someone does some fuckery that creates these weird Palkia/Dialga + Arceus Hybrids, Giratina comes out and goes WHAT THE ACTUAL FUCK and destroys the universe.
 
I'd like to take a moment to express appreciation that H-Electrode did not end up with a moustache.

I was contemplating whether to try and do a mono-ghost run through the game if Typhlosion turned out to be ghost, and if regular Decidueye is somehow available before postgame through time-travel shenanigans, but now that we've seen Typhlosion I'm not sure I will pick it unless it looks really good in motion. I rather like H-Decidueye and Qwilfish-evo, so maybe I'll leave a mono-ghost run for a second playthrough (if having a go-to team of 6 even makes much sense in this game).

Also I rather like this new Dialga-Horse form.
 
here's my thoughts on all the new mons

All of the starter Hisuian forms look pretty good tbh. H-Samurott is the best out of all of them and I'm glad it's gonna be my starter, but I also really like H-Decidueye's color palette and H-Typhlosion's high AF expression.

H-Arcanine is so sick, love the rock armor, my favorite Hisuian form by a mile, defo going on my team

H-Electrode is the second worst mon out of all of them, it's literally just an angry Electrode with a different texture bottom, we could have had Chia Pet Electrode GF whyyyy, at least its shiny is cool

H-Qwilfish is fine but the evo looks like a rejected Splatoon character lmaoooo, so ugly it's good

H-Sneasel has a great color scheme, the evo is basically just Long Sneasel so it's pretty good, probs on my team

Ursaring evo looks dopey and cute actually, rlly want to see it in action

H-Sliggoo and H-Goodra are good but should have had a palette swap on the body to make them look more different, H-Goodra will still go on my team

IDK why but H-Lilligant looks so fucking weird to me, it's literally just a peeled Lilligant, I hate it, probs my least favorite Hisuian mon

H-Avalugg is pretty good but what is that ice texture on the side of its mouth, hope it's just an issue with ripping the model and it doesn't have that in the actual game

why is White Stripe Basculegion so sad lmao

I hated the new genie at first but then I saw someone on Reddit say that it's basically HIM from PowerPuff Girls and now I love it to death, I like the Therian form, love how it's based on a soft-shelled turtle

I actually kind of like the new Palkia form, love the centaur vibes, but tf is up with that Dialga form
