How accurately can you tell damage in each generation?

I am under the impression that RBY damage bars are 48 pixels long, and all others are 96? This means that in RBY you can really only tell damage down to slightly less precision than 2% increments, and in future gens it's at just less precise than 1% increments, but I don't know if this is true or if any of the Stadium-style games allow greater precision.

Can anyone verify?

i am assuming the thread deals strictly with calculating opponent hit points with the damage bar "readings", since the player hit points are shown below their damage bars.

the precision with stadium style games should logically be higher, since rendering by pixels is not done in those games (with 1 HP left, the bar appears in a lesser-alpha antialiased colour), that progressively increases in alpha before showing noticeable increase in width), but yes, it would be much better to have this verified.

Cant you hit Start to show your HP total and your opponent's percentage or something? I thought you could.

yea, in the games you can press switch then select the pokemon you have out then press info and it will tell you its current HP/status/everything else. you cant see your oponents HP though.

Yeah that part I knew about I'm really more interested in the effect on your opponent.

Well, in Stadium, Stadium 2 and in Colloseum (the stadium battles only), you could always see your opponent's HP, so that was pretty much perfectly accurate. I'm not sure about in XD or PBR though.

A little bit of research right now has all cartridge games prior to DP being at 48 pixels. This means that you can only tell damage precision to slightly less than 2% increments. We haven't yet verified DPP or non-cartridge games.

Platinum also uses 48 pixels. It's uncertain what DP uses due to the roundness of the HP bar.
